When in Waikiki if you miss this Sushi stop that is beach adjacent you have missed one of the best spots on island. Yes, it is in Waikiki, but if you already there you probably were taking picture next to the Duke Kahanamoku statue, the Father of Surfing which is right across the street. If you get there when it is busy, you will probably either walk around or I recommend sitting right outside and people watching. If it is in the early evening you'll be watching beachgoers and surfers coming in. Inside there is seating at the sushi bar and table areas. The restaurant is small but considering this is some of the most expensive real estate by square foot in the world you should be okay with size of the establishment. Now to the sushi, this is some of the best sushi you will try anywhere. Having share spot as a recommendation for friends who travel here, the world over I have never heard anything but glowing reviews. My go to after a evening surf session out at Pops or Canoes is always the Rainbow B, which comes with a side of sashimi, I always get a miso soup and a order of Tako or hokki-gai if it is available. Add some sake or ice cold glass of water if you just came in from surfing and follow it with some tea as you wind down. I'm not sure why it's rated only 3.5 stars. The sushi was so good and fresh that we ate here twice during our trip. The place is tiny and we happened to come here on a Sunday and then a Saturday. We put in our names and phone numbers and were notified that our table is ready in about 20 minutes both times, I had the chirashi bowl and a small udon soup both times. The udon was one of the best ones I've ever had. The chirashi bowl was delicious and had tons of different kinds of fish that was super fresh. My friend who was visiting from Mexico, wanted to eat Japanese food and we walked into this restaurant, in Waikiki, and decided to grab a bite to eat at 3:30p on Saturday, 10-7-17. We were greeted warmly. The person who took our order allowed us to have the lunch special. That was great. We had great customer service. Our water was always being refilled and we were given green tea after the meal. My friend and I enjoyed the presentation of our meals. My friend enjoyed her meal. She loved the piping hot miso soup. She said it was delicious. She enjoyed her sashimi and sushi, too. Unfortunately, 30 min. after we left the restaurant at my friends friends hotel lobby, I developed cramps, nausea, and I was sweating profusely and fainted. I believe I got food poisoning after eating at this restaurant and I was taken by ambulance to the ER and was put on an IV and was released at 11:00p. To be fair, my friend didn't get sick. Hard choice to pick four or five stars. Me, a five. My wife, a four. Shared, we had three of their tuna sashimi. We started with one and it was so good, we had to have another. It was a deep red and large pieces. We just couldn't stop and ordered a third. The rolls we ordered were fantastic tasting but came unraveled easily. Not a big issue; we were there for the taste. So, why my wife's knockdown a point. The poke was not what she liked. The tuna itself was again outstanding but she didn't like the sauce. But, in the end, would we return? Yes. My rating is solely based off of my SERVER experience. The JAPANESE server works so hard and she deserves to be recognized. As for the other non Japanese lady, she was extremely rude and quoted wait times that were inaccurate. This restaurant does prioritize to go orders, as other reviews state. We went in at around 8pm, signed in our name, and the rude cashier/ to go host quoted us an hour and a half. Great, I get it, you're busy. But as we watched, the non japanese server doesn't help her team, zero customer service; while the other server (Japanese lady) literally runs the floor without her help. One server and 7 tables, serving bussing and running food. It was even around 9-9:15 PM, sign says last call 9:45 and she continues to let other customers sign in, again stating that their will be an hour and a half wait, with no advise that they will be closing within the next 45 minutes. How does that even make sense. The rude host lady was also taking a ton of to go's with one customer left waiting, and as he stepped up to place his order, she made no eye contact, and simply stated in a very low tone that couldn't really be understood, "sorry no more to go's." Wow. And to top it off our table is just ready, along with others, and they still can't seat due to having to catch up to the to go's.. Right now, Waikiki is so busy, it's a guaranteed paycheck for those working, but have some customer service. Anyways, as we were finally seated, the nice Japanese lady changed the whole experience. She apologized for the wait and I spoke with her in Japanese asking if it was always like this for her. I truly appreciate her hard work and customer service. The food was also really good and fresh. We were craving so it hit the spot. We got the ikura salmon don, udon, and a couple rolls and beers. Aesthetics are nice. Wait times every where around the area is about an hour and half for dinner. And I didn't try any other sushi places, so I can't say it's the best. The menu is also pretty small. But again craving satisfied. read more

I have passed by a couple of times and there is always a line. They don't take reservations over the phone and I had time so 20 minutes later and I was sitting. Due to Covid precautions they have limited tables. I'm guessing 7-10 groups depending on the size. Service is nice and quick. The sashimi and rolls i had we all very tasty. I really enjoyed the salmon. I ended up ordering 2 more orders. This place is just across the street from the Waikiki beach and I saw many to go orders. It was already 9pm when I ordered and the food came out at 10 pm, which is their closing time. I guess they don't give a shit about peoples time or customer that came alone. As soon as we walked in with a party of five, we were seated. We thought we were lucky...not so much. This place was convenient as it's right across the street from the beach. The hostess that seated us was friendly but it pretty much went downhill from there. The restaurant wasn't busy the entire time we were there. There are only a few tables and most were filled but I didn't see people lining up which probably should've been a clue. Our server asked us for our drink order and asked if we were ready to order food, when we asked for waters but said we would need a few more minutes, she rolled her eyes at me. Now normally I would get up and leave, but like I said, it was super convenient to where we were staying and we wanted sushi. Each roll averages about $18. When we lived in San Diego we paid this price over and over with no complaints because the food was excellent and the service was great. Here however, the service is slow and rude and the food was just okay. Really, it was nothing to write home about. Our server took her sweet time to bring us ginger and spicy mayo and was not happy about doing so. I honestly thought she was just unhappy but she smiled and was friendly to all of her other tables. My family loves sushi so much that we began making it ourselves the last few years. But believe me, it's a pain to prep everything and although it's fun to roll, it's so much easier to go out for sushi. So I can appreciate the work that goes into this. I can also tell you how unbelievably easy and cheap it is to make amazing sushi once everything is prepped. We have also all worked in a restaurant at one time or another so we understand the struggle. I ordered the tempura roll. The tempura shrimp was cold and soggy. The rice on the roll was way too loose and it was difficult to pick up without it falling apart. My husband also ordered the same roll and was so unimpressed that he didn't finish it. Also ordered by my adult kids were the chicken teriyaki roll, the meat lovers sushi plate and the rainbow roll. Again, nothing was anything above average. It's unfortunate that the uncomfortable situation with the server probably made us hate on the food even more. The night before, we went to Dukes where our bill was $250. The food was slightly above average but the service was excellent and the ambience couldn't be beat. We left happy and full! Here however, we left annoyed and disappointed. read more

Good simple rolls! I came here every so often to just get a couple plain salmon rolls, and they were fresh and decently priced with good portions! Right across Waikiki beach so it was easy to just walk over and pick up some rolls to walk back to the beach with! Very traditional and have nice indoor seating as well, though space is slightly limited. Obviously everything in Waikiki is a little overpriced, but I still thought it was fair. Located smack dab in downtown Waikiki, right across from our world famous beach....you might miss it because compared to all the other stores, this place is very small from the outside. We went when they opened. The service was first class. Pretty much everything we ordered came out right away and that is a good thing. The host, server, and chefs were all great. The prices when you consider the location, was cheap, and there was a large selection of sushi. You can go all out sushi tray, or get individual pieces for a few bucks. The Chefs all looked like they meant business and the sushi proved it. The sushi was fresh, very tasty, and that's all that matters! Oh...and my soba noodles were realllllllll good. Omg delicious... I got the mini hot shrimp tempura soba, my first time having soba noodles hot and definitely will not be my last. It was the perfect amount since I ordered the Omega roll as well and that was one of the highlights of my trip. The flavors were just so good and the salmon was so fresh. The taste of the seared salmon with raw salmon and avocado was amazing. Definitely recommend this spot and joining the waitlist or calling ahead because I waited over an hour but it was worth it.
