My childhood consisted of my family and I going to different all you can eat buffets. My favorite was all you can eat Chinese buffets. I was craving unlimited Chinese food and wanted to splurge so I went to Google and found this gem of a restaurant around the corner of my house. My husband took me here in a lunch date and we had a blast and ate so much they had to role us out of this restaurant. My plate was filled with all sorts of delicious of meats like spare rides, teriyaki chicken, bourbon chicken and sweet and sour chicken along with white rice and lo mein. Just got stationed in Jax after living in Japan for a couple of months, excited to try the sushi and other Japanese foods that are here and I was more than disappointed. Some of the sushi that was supposed to be cold and raw was warm along with some of the fish tasting sour/weird. The desserts were really dry as well. At the end of my visit it was hard to keep my food down, this place has an opportunity to be amazing with proper care for the food but this was not it. We had 9 people including 3 seniors and 4 kids, just a family lunch on the way home from the road trip. First red flag was when we were set to the table of 8, so we had to seat pretty tightly. Next, that room was pretty far from the food isle which was very inconvenient for both kids and seniors. Finally, to top it all off, the waiter came back to argue with the amount of tips left and as a cherry on top, she took away lollipops which she previously offered to my kids. It's been a few years since I've eaten in an Asian buffet. but what better way to celebrate a special birthday than getting a group together and heading to a place like Fushimi Grill & Modern Buffet? I don't usually do buffets much anymore because my stomach isn't as up to being stuffed as much as it used to be. But I have to say I was very impressed overall with Fushimi Grill. It certainly has more buffet options than any buffet (except the Raffles Hotel in Singapore!) I've ever tried. The Sunday buffet included sushi (a wide selection), crab legs, numerous seafood options (including a number of varieties fried), among many other choices - even the dessert choices weren't too bad! This may be strange to say, but the General Tao chicken was my favorite - and I had a lot of wonderfully prepped dishes during my visit. Well, I guess it was a good day for the General! I will say in line with this that the Sunday buffet at the time of this writing runs in the $26 range. I personally think that's more than fair for what this restaurant offers at its buffet. I originally leaned toward giving Fushimi Grill a four star rating, as its overall appearance inside isn't super attractive but one cannot complain about the huge variety of food options here. I quickly changed to five stars when our excellent server, Wendy, went the extra mile to see that Happy Birthday was sung to our special guest for the day - which made the day even more special for her. Wendy used an automated bot of some type that was a music box that both sang "Happy Birthday" and played graphics on the large screen on the wall next to us. I've never seen Happy Birthday done in such a special way at any restaurant I've ever been in! Servers, service, and great food like this made Fushimi Grill a special experience to remember for all four of us who shared food and fun on this day! This is a nice sized Asian buffet. I was immediately shocked at the price $30 per person for dinner. It was myself and two sons and I paid over $80. Was it worth it (because that's what matters)? No, the food wasn't worth the price. Most items were fried and all items that I had were very greasy and lukewarm at best. My favorite was the Lo mein. Next time I would opt for PF Changs if I'm cool with spending this much, or my nearest Chinese takeout for my next hankering. Their dinner buffet had tons of seafood options which were good and they even had a lobster option which was quite appetizing. My Dad enjoyed the lobster, so that's a good sign! The service was wonderful. They were very attentive and made sure our drinks were filled throughout dinner. The ambiance is nice and it was clean. They even have private room offerings. Overall, it's a Chinese buffet and I think it is worth it for the price. It looks like I would be walking in to an old outdated all you can eat buffet when you first see it from the outside but inside is a different story! It's beautiful inside the restaurant! And its not very busy! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by Peanut, the robot host that walks you to your table. I can see why there's a lot of poor reviews. I've been to hotpot before but for newbies , it may get intimidating. They don't tell you what to do once you're seated , they don't talk about the menu, they don't even ask if it's our first time there. Here's some guidance (disclaimer: I'm no expert) First off it's all you can eat hotpot or all you can eat bbq or both. The AYCE sushi comes with any option you choose with no extra charge. When you get to your table, go ahead and head over to the buffet area. I was in the mood for hot pot only, specifically with seafood and cuts of lamb and beef. The semi frozen meats in the cooler are for hotpot. The marinated ones that are out are for bbq. Pace yourself and if you want to try everything, stick to the two rule. Two crawfish, two shrimp, two crabmeat (imitation), two rolls of sliced lamb, two rolls of sliced beef etc. You can always come back for more because they do charge for wasted food. We gathered what we were putting in our broth and by the time we got back our broths were simmering. Their broth was fantastic. I used their house sauce mixed with hoisin and chili oil and it went so well as my side dip for the meats as well as extra flavor for the broth itself. I also got some sushi and it was okay. This was a great deal for me for all the food I ate. It IS pricey but remember that everything in the grocery stores have gone up in price too. I suggest you come HUNGRY! From beef aortas to pork uterus to beef tongues, lamb tripes and beef omasums are just some of the oddest organ meats you'll find at a Hot Pot & BBQ joint in town. Yi Liu Hot Pot has them, amongst many seafood and other meat selections.... and I am loving it this All-You-Can-Eat joint. A great buddy of mine came in town and he says the same thing "let's meet up and eat at such and such aka BBQ joint or American cuisine. Uggh, not the same ol thing again. So I had to put my Yelp foot down and suggested this Hot Pot place. And here we are. Not my first Hot Pot rodeo, but it definitely was for him. My family and I went to this place because we saw that they are advertising all you can eat snow crab legs with the price of your buffet entry. Wrong! The snow crabs are 15.99/lb on top of the price you're already paying to dine. You have to tell your waitress you want to order the and they bring it out to you. Some of the food looked like it had been sitting there for a while. I tried the smaller fried crabs and when I cracked open one of the claws I got this strong whiff of ammonia!! We were a party of 8 including 4 kids (two older and two babies) and they sat us at two different booths. When it was time for our checks, we split it in half. But each check had an 18% service fee added on! They said because we were a party of 8 it's automatically added on but we were sat separately and paid separately. They claimed they brought us the wrong checks and removed the fee. I can speak for my entire family when I say we won't be back. One of the worst experiences trying a new restaurant. The place is nice even though it could use some better lighting as it is pretty dark inside. The food was bad to say the least. The only thing that tasted somewhat fresh was the shrimp with peas, all of the other things we tried were terrible and looked like they had been cooked several hours ago. We went for the dinner buffet on the weekend. Similar to the hot pot place this restaurant replaced, the decor was nice and fairly clean. We were seated at the booth, which was plenty roomy. The star selections of the buffet were the crab legs and the crawfish, which tasted fine, though a bit salty. The crab legs were kept fairly stocked throughout our visit. I also tried some of the sushi, which was okay. The fish was fresh and the selection was decent, but the rice left more to be desired as it was lacking the right flavor. They also have a selection of traditional Chinese food like dim sum, fried rice, and general Tso's chicken, which were just alright in quality and taste. Some of those, like the fried shrimp and fried scallops, tasted like they were frozen and lacked flavor. Furthermore, they have hibachi with a good selection of veggies and meats, which I didn't get the opportunity to try. The dessert was also fine serving some fresh fruit and small assorted premade pastries. The large selection of food items in itself is great and encompasses the buffet experience. Though, for $23 per person for a weekend dinner, it's just okay for the so-so quality of food you're getting. The look of the interior and the wealth of food reminded me of one of those super nice Las Vegas buffets (like the buffet at Wynn Las Vegas). The food - omg the SUSHI! - included so many types of rolls, including these spicy tuna ones with crab on top, eel rolls, and shrimp nigiri. I ate 8-12 shrimp nigiri, which is a personal record for me haha, but they were so good!! The sushi chef was such a pro and the sushi were a delight to the senses - beautiful and so delicious! And that's not all regarding the food you can get. I will have to come back super hungry and focused on trying to get away from the sushi. They had this New Orleans/Cajun inspired shrimp (full head on shrimp!...I just can't get away from the shrimp!) that tasted so authentic I couldn't believe it. Steak, fried shrimp, fried oysters (hubs really liked those), salt and pepper crab, pizza and chicken nuggets of course for less adventurous eaters/kiddos, and typical Chinese-American food you'd see at a buffet including teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, ribs, etc. Also, food for more traditional Chinese palates that include chicken feet & steamed buns inside their steamers that you take to your table. To have such good, diverse types and amounts of foods you're gonna pay higher than a typical buffet in Jacksonville (we paid $19.99 per person for dinner, but that's only $19.99 compared to a place like the Wynn buffet that charges $46-$70ish per adult). I could've stayed there for hours just eating, even if it was just the sushi and fruit (fresh, tasty fruit including watermelon, banana, kiwi!, honeydew melon, cantaloupe). I normally wouldn't review a restaurant based on this- but the website did not specify whether or not the miso base was meat based. Each of the other soups specified pork/chicken/beef broth, but for some reason the miso was left out. We decided to go anyway and try our luck. They have a nice variety or food to choose including sushi and a hot wok. Food was good hot and fresh. Waiter made sure your cups didn't fall below half before offering a refill. Price wise was good, $27 per. Although I didn't like the fact that they charge you a extra $14 (wasteful plates) if you don't finish you plate. It's definitely return spot. read more

We visited for dinner on 9/8/20 during visit to Jacksonville, Florida. It's $30 per person for AYCE (buffet) Korean BBQ, Hot Pot, and Sushi. Since we're still in midst of a pandemic, seating was spread out and capacity is at 50%. Upon arrival, the staff took our temperature with a touchless thermometer. Once cleared, they instructed a robot to escort us to a table. Once seated, server came to take our drinks and orders. I asked for some type of seasoning to add and was told they had none. I was given a cup of the broth from the seafood boil. I literally asked for minced garlic, salt, and lemon to add to the broth with butter to try to give the food some type of taste. They didn't have many side options and I mainly ate meat. The fried chicken wings were good, but I didn't go there to eat chicken. We even tried a hibachi bowl, but the teriyaki sauce was extremely salty and had an after taste. I literally took a loss with the $64 bill for two. If you pass muster, a cute robot delivers you to your assigned table. Pros- The service was spot on attentive and friendly. There was plenty of seating space so guests were socially distanced very well. Loads of food choices for both bbq and hotpot options as well as unique fruit choices (dragonfruit and lychees!) Memorable dining experience to share with family and friends Cons- Instructions on "how to hotpot" would have been a smidge helpful. Fortunately, we came prepared and watched a YouTube video beforehand so it wasn't a total "start from zero" experience. We tried 4 different hot pot soups and the original was not the winner.
