I read all the reviews on Orange Buffet. We drove up from Saint Augustine to have dinner with the family. Upon arrival, we were greeted and asked the children's ages. We were taken to be seated. Why did she pass 4 open tables to take us to the back of the restaurant. No Mam! Not Happening. I chose where we dined. I waited for the kids to come back before I checked out the buffet. 1. Yes, the restaurant is very clean. 2. There's lots of food selections. American, Chinese, Japanese, & An array of seafood. Even a hibachi station. 3. The restaurant was full of customers and they kept coming. 4. The food was just okay for me. Let's break it down...$15.99 *Egg drop soup was oily. It went down the wrong pipe and gagged me. *The noodles were super hot. Not seasoned. I added salt and pepper. *General TSO was tender but only lukewarm. *The Rib was tender and juicy. Again, just lukewarm. *I loved the Butter Pecan Ice Cream #Hubby ate his share of Various Sushi. He ate 2 plates actually. #2 boys ate fried chicken wings, Mac and cheese, crawfish, French Fries & Dan Dan Noodles. #3Baby Girl had salad bar and fried chicken. For the amount of money I spent, it was just okay. I wasn't raving over the service either. She didn't have the greatest customer service but she was tipped well. I felt like it could have been an overwhelming experience for her with the larger groups. read more

I lumbered into Orange Buffet in Orange Park for lunch with a buddy who swears by the place. It had been a while since my last visit. Back then they had cut corners and were serving food on paper plates, which felt a little strange for a sit-down buffet. This time around I was relieved to see real plates again. Maybe they were short staffed before or just didn't want to keep a dishwasher on duty, but things feel a bit more put together now. The buffet itself is stacked with all the usual Chinese favorites along with a Mongolian barbecue station and a sushi spot. I went for a little of everything, and while it isn't fancy, it scratches the itch. The food is hot enough, fresh enough, and you never walk away hungry. Service is about what you'd expect. They get you seated, bring drinks, and swing by to clear plates when they can. Nobody's rolling out a red carpet here, but you don't go to a buffet for the pampering. The price is fair for what you get. Sushi, hibachi, and all the fried comfort food you can stack on a plate at a reasonable rate. The place itself hasn't aged gracefully though. Tables and chairs feel like they've been there since Bigfoot first left footprints in Clay County. Outdated is the best word for it, but you learn to look past the decor when the food keeps coming. It's a decent stop if you want variety without spending much or waiting long. Orange Buffet isn't winning any beauty contests, but if you're hungry and in Orange Park it's still a solid pick. The service is what you expect at a buffet, it was okay, but the food was not. It was edible but barely. I went during lunch time and it wasn't packed but there were plenty of diners there and a lot of what I got was stale. Not great flavor, just a huge disappointment. I will not return. read more

This was hands down the worst restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. The second I walked in, the air smacked me with the stench of mold and mildew. It was so damp and gross inside it literally felt moist, like eating in a basement that's been flooded. The interior? Old, nasty, and filthy. The seats were sticky to the touch, and I honestly felt like I needed a shower just from sitting down. It's obvious nothing has been cleaned or updated in years. I don't even understand how this place is still open. The health department needs to pay them a visit ASAP because it is NOT safe, it is NOT sanitary, and it is NOT somewhere anyone should spend their money. Save yourself the regret, this "restaurant" is a nightmare. I wouldn't feed this food to my worst enemy. This was our weekend spot but we had a terrible experience with the front staff. My son is autistic and sometimes getting loud and while everyone was respectful the staff became rude and hostile. turn our experience into a nightmare, a military vet (customer) came out to apologize to use for the restaurants treatment. read more

This is very disturbing for me to say, but my family has eaten here for at least 13 years because it used to be so good! We ate there on Sunday (two days ago) and it was absolutely horrible! They do not care about their restaurant anymore! The food has no flavor! The roast beef was so tasteless and hard to cut! My hubby asked for steak sauce and they had none. You couldn't even add flavor yourself! This place is full of germs and bacteria as well. The spoons for the ice cream are supposed to be dipped in water so not to cross contaminate the different flavors but they were mixed. The water was gross! We ate what we could since we drove so far out of our way. We went to the bathroom first to wash our hands before we ate and the women's bathroom was a disaster! I went back in after I finished eating to see if in that hour time frame they cleaned it up and they had not! I told the women at the host desk and either she didn't give a damn or as usual she didn't know what the hell I was saying! I have pictures as well. I waited till I got home to use my clean bathroom. This once very nice establishment with excellent food has become a disgusting breeding ground of filth and tasteless food. What a shame. We will drive an extra 30 minutes to Palm Coast to Golden Chopsticks where it is an amazingly clean, beautiful establishment with so much delicious different foods and desserts! Oh my I got so much to say about this place First of all the food was cold and hard I can tell they re use a lot of different stuff not much is fresh or made its all reused and reheated you can tell by the texture and taste of some stuff. Second we go to pay and it declines with 2 dollars left to pay and then they come around and say that thats the wrong receipt And then it says I owe 5 dollars and then I have to get my friends to pay then they changed it again and said we owe 20 dollars which is insane I cant make this up we ended up paying way over the amount it originally said so we had no other choice to pay or they were gonna call the cops. Do not go to this place they meed to be shutdown due to the quality food and service They will try and use the language barrier against you and get you to pay way more than the actual price for some crappy reheated food. Cheap buffet and man I love eating out here it's simple with a little extra but that just what most people need

When attempting to walk in the restaurant, I noticed the door was greasy and unclean. This should've been my warning to turn around! From the time that I walked in, I noticed a foul smell. I couldn't quite figure out what it was. I told my daughter we should probably leave and she said the smell was more than likely the food seasonings, but to me it smelled more like wet carpet that was not dried properly before we could even sit down, the lady took our drink orders. We went to the buffet and it was horrible. Some of the food on the buffet was not hot, literally straight off of the buffet and it was cold. I decided to go to the hibachi to get some hot food when he asked what type of sauce I wanted, I specifically said teriyaki When I got my hibachi food. I could tell that it was not teriyaki on my plate the color of my food had turned red? When I ate it, it taste like kimchi, but he was adamant that he used teriyaki. I decided not to eat it after one bite. I took one bite from the buffet plate and one bite from the hibachi plate. That's when I decided not to eat and allow my daughter to eat. She took one bite from her buffet plate and one bite from her sushi plate she looked at me and said mom this food is not good and it indeed was not. I specifically asked the lady not to give my child soda after she had asked for it. I said please bring her a lemonade and bring me a water. She came back with a soda a water and a lemonade and three dirty cups I could not even see through my water cup, and the water was not filtered the soda taste like it had been poured from a machine that probably needed to be cleaned. The lemonade taste the same after one sip of each of those I started to smell mold it was either the carpet that had been wet and started to mold or just bad ventilation with mold. I looked up at the ceiling and noticed that there is black mold. I looked at my daughter who has just gotten over asthma as a child and said it is time to go now we're leaving. I was inside of the restaurant for a total of 10 minutes when we went to check out the lady said you're done already? I said are you aware that it smells heavily like mold in here that the food on the buffet is cold that your flatware and cups are dirty? She said I'm here every day and I haven't seen any of that. I paid $36 for 10 minutes of torture $36 for an adult and a 10 year-old girl who took a total of four bites from the buffet and two sips of a drink. Jacksonville has a lot of great restaurants. This is not one of them. Everything in my bones tells me if I would have continued to eat here I would have been sick or worse if you have asthma, like a queen sanitize place to eat, or even just want seasoned food do not go here! I am contacting the health inspector. It is clear as day the smell of mold, and the cleanliness of the establishment needs to be checked. read more

I chose Orange Buffet for lunch yesterday while it running errands. I had my service dog, I'm disabled, and family with me. We got seated in a separate room from all other patrons. At first we didn't think much about it, but then we went to the buffet to fix my plate. We were approached and told that my service dog needs to remain at the table at all times. We had to explain the service dog goes where I go, then was given attitude and a nasty look. That is when we realized we were out in that room because of my service dog. We were mostly ignore by the staff from that point. As if this wasn't enough, we made a complaint about some of the food, like fish, being under cooked and the staff member actually argued with me saying it was fine to eat and walking away. I had already eaten a bit of it before I realized, but did not eat any more. I have now spent the last 20 or so hours writhing in pain, from food poisoning, puking with diarrhea and have passed out a couple times. I suggest you AVOID this place like the plague!!! read more

This is a typical Chinese restaurant with an hibachi grill and normal Chinese food. Service was hit or miss, we had to ask several times for refills on drinks. We went on a Sunday, no wait time. The various options of food I will say is good however it really did not have much flavor. Our waitress started out most rude and degrading so I asked her if she was having a bad day when she said no I asked her why she was so rude. I used to love this place when they 1st opened, not so sure recently. The buffett and sushi selections are still worth the price of admission but i come here for the Hibachi and i feel like their Hibachi game has lost some of its luster lately. My hibachi fried rice ingredients haven't changed yet the final output isnt the same.
