my wife and I had our grandkids for a few days and live out of town, but they live nearby, so once we dropped them off, we were exhausted and were looking for somewhere nice/buffet style to eat. We decided upon this place based on reviews, including from all our oldest grandchild, who said that he had been taken here and everyone enjoyed it. we knew it had previously been a Japanese/Asian grill for many years, but now it is a Korean style barbecue and hot pot.m, so we stopped in. first be aware that this is not a cheap meal, it was $37 per adult. that said, you get access to a variety of proteins and options. I will also say that my experience was quite a bit different than that of my wife. to start, you get one type of flavored broth for your hot pot in which to cook proteins or vegetables. The table also comes with a built-in grill if you choose to Cook that way. My wife selected the mushroom broth base and I chose the pork broth base. I must say, my wife added her own spices/sauces and enjoyed her broth so much that she shared with me and it greatly enhanced my experience. We enjoyed it so much so that we took the remainder home - there was a by weight up charge for taking this or anything else home. initially I felt that was a little expensive ($5) for taking home What amounted to 2 cups of broth, but we made Ramen out of the next day and it was the best Ramen I've had in a long time, so kudos to my wife for having seasoned it so well. my pork broth was not very flavorful, but I was being lazy and did not add any sauces to it, so I was disappointed, but frankly that is probably on me. In the middle of the restaurant is a very clean and well stocked protein buffet that has all types of seafood, pork, chicken, and beef offerings. I selected many of these, and went directly to the grill instead of cooking some of them in the hot pot. i ended up over cooking several of them before adding them into my hot pot, and they weren't good, but once again my disappointment is in part due to my impatience or inattentiveness. my wife enjoyed her selections very much because she didn't overcook her proteins. my favorite thing was the beef Bulgogi and Korean short ribs, which I grilled (or my wife did) and these were delicious, marinated in an excellent sauce and I frankly could've and should've probably just eaten several plates of this. they had a sushi/dessert bar with typical fare; my wife did not partake in any of this. I tried several of the sushi rolls and they were OK -- frankly this is probably not what you would gravitate to if you're going to a hot pot/Korean barbecue restaurant. their desert offerings were fine: I enjoyed the tiramisu and the Asian style donuts, which were very doughy, but I love them. My wife thought they were just meh. they were alcoholic options, but we were already going to be at $90 with tip and take home broth so we just had waters. I apologize for forgetting the servers name, but his service was excellent, due to attentiveness, explanation of the options, and making sure our drinks were consistently refilled. The ambience was nice, modern, clean. so my take away is that this would be closer to a 3.5 star review versus a four, as this was expensive and everything that I tried other than the grilled Bulgogi and what my wife shared that she had added to her broth) was just OK. However, my wife enjoyed the meal so much, that alone is worth it. Also, I should attribute some of the "disappointment" to my own laziness or overcooking of the proteins on the grill. I've come here now a couple of times with the fam and it's a cool spot! If you like hot pot & BBQ then you'll like this place! They have many options to choose from in terms of different meats, greens, sushi, desserts, noodles, and more. How it works is you choose the soup of choice to cook the things on and then you go up and fill your place with what you want to cook. You can add things to the soup or on the hot pot to cook. They also have sushi and dumplings already made to eat. I've tried the traditional soup and the tom yum I believe it's called. I like the tom yum better because it has more flavor. You are cooking your own stuff so make sure it's done lol! Both servers both times were nice and attentive in changing out the stove you cook on and taking your dirty plates. What a place! I have to say one thing bad to say about this place....this place made me ate too damn much! That's a good feeling when you're leaving a restaurant full. This place was absolutely amazing. This is all you can eat buffet and it's not like all the other buffet. This place requires you to get your own food and cook your own food. The crabs were meaty and delicious. Oysters on the half shell are fresh and plump. I lost count how many grilled rib eye steak I had. My waitress was very nice and friendly. Soooo many options for honestly a pretty cheap price for what it is. You get hot pot and bbq for around $35 per person, when I feel like thats usually the price for only one of those options. I recently visited Royal Korean Bar B Que & Hot Pot and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. The aesthetics of the restaurant are beautiful--definitely the highlight of the visit. The space is well designed and visually appealing, which initially made me excited to dine there. However, the service and food quality did not match the atmosphere at all. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and couldn't answer basic questions about the items or broths. The food placed on the bar appeared frozen rather than fresh, which was concerning for a hot pot experience. I ordered the Tom Yum soup base, and it was honestly one of the worst I've had. The flavor was unpleasant, and after putting my food into the pot, it completely ruined the meal to the point where I couldn't eat any of it. To make matters worse, I ordered a Sex on the Beach cocktail, and it tasted extremely watered down with almost no flavor. Overall, the only positive part of this experience was the restaurant's aesthetics. Unfortunately, good décor can't make up for poor service and bad food. I will not be returning. read more

There's no different barbecue sauce so it has a funky taste to it. All of the cuts of meat where the crap cuts that no other restaurant would take so if you're coming here to look for some juicy beef and pork, you're gonna find a lot of fat in your meat and tendon gristle. I think the best thing you can get here is the shrimp for $35. All you can eat shrimp and soup but I guess is the best option. The sushi was also good as well, but those three things and everything else really wasn't worth a huge experience. To top it all off 24 hours after eating here you'll find yourself spending a considerable time on the toilet with the Hershey squirts. Overall, I don't think I would come back again. For a seafood buffet in Jacksonville at this price point, the quality should be much higher. They advertise items like blue crab, clams, oysters, mussels, shrimp, crab legs, and ribeye steak. While those items were available, the overall quality was very disappointing. The seafood lacked flavor, and even the sauces -- including the yum-yum sauce -- were extremely thin and tasted watered down. The "ribeye steak" was tough and did not resemble a true ribeye in texture or tenderness. The overall experience didn't match the price. Staff were frequently rolling large dish carts right next to tables, which was noisy and made the atmosphere feel more like a budget buffet. Even small details stood out -- you're given one napkin when seated, and if you need more, you have to request them or use tissues from a box at the table. Overall, this felt like a low-quality buffet being sold at a premium price. At this price point, there are far better seafood and steak options in Jacksonville. $50 per person for a seafood buffet with no flavor, watered-down sauces, and "ribeye" that isn't ribeye -- overpriced and not worth it. The buffet area was the size of a tennis court!!! It was so much fun as every table has a grill and hot plates for our soups. This use to be a Japanese hibachi steak house. The atmosphere is really nice. The ventilation was very good did not smell like burning meat when you came in. There is one price, and it covers both the hot pot items and the table top barbecue. One of the coolest things they do is once you finished with cooking round 1, server will change out yourtable top grill do you can start anew. But what you want to know is about the food, am I right? Yes, this is an all you can eat restaurant. Special house sauce - I asked our server to bring us several sauces that were very popular, this was my favorite of the one she brought Hoisin sauce - just what you would've expect. Chili oil - they brought this out to my wife from the back, it is not on the sauce buffet. Other sauces - they have a ton of other sauces, some hot, some mild some savory, some sweet . One of the fun parts is trying different combinations.. Tom Ka Gai - I chose this for my soup base, and liked it very much. It is the Thai soup base that you get at most Thai restaurants. Hot pot - I loaded my hot pot with a ton of fresh vegetables, udon noodles, and I was thrilled with the outcome. Crab Rangoon - very good but very small and more dough than Rangoon. Sushi - I was shocked that they're sushi was as good as it was. Grilled meat - they have a ton of different meats, like lamb, beef, chicken, shrimp, squid, just to name a few. They also have barbecue versions of the same. I would have to say my favorites were the chicken skewers, and the barbecue beef. The ribeye also came highly recommended to us, but I found the pieces very fatty and I didn't eat much of them. I also wasn't thrilled with the way the squid turned out, so I passed on it as well.. Desserts - there are several dessert options, including puddings, fruit, and a cake and pie. These options were OK, although I did like the banana pudding, but the rest felt kind of flat. You get all sorts of utensils to eat in the cooking process. Things like ladle, tongs, spatulas, etc. I think we were there about an hour, but you could shorten it or even make it longer because nobody is rushing you at all. Pretty disappointed when the Mint Magazine shows a huge pile of crab legs when you actually don't get that. You get cold crab legs that you have to cook on the stove. No seasoning and takes 8 minutes each leg per their instructions. Show what you really serve before people get there for disappointment. read more
