The unlimited Mongolian BBQ bowls are fantastic for the price and you can load them up exactly how you want with as many fresh meats, veggies, noodles, and sauces, then go back for another if you're still hungry. It's hard to beat for the price. The staff were friendly, the cooks were quick and friendly and they cooked everything in the bowl and even told us we can add more if we wanted before he cooked the food which was nice. read more

Hostess, waitress and cooks were all really friendly. The menu had lots to choose from, but the real draw is the Mongolian barbecue. There was plenty to choose from and all the veggies were fresh. Bowls are huge, and of course everyone packs them full so you get a LOT for your money. My only complaint is the chef preparing the barbecue uses so much water to steam-cook the food that it washes all the seasonings customers have put on their meat and veg, so everything comes out bland. I've never had that problem at any other Mongolian BBQ place. Still, it's worth the trip and worth the money. read more

Stopped by CoCo for lunch as we were passing through Redding and we loved it! My friend and I came for lunch around Saturday at 11:30 and it wasn't too busy. They offer Mongolian grill here with a decent selection of meats and huge selection of veggies as well as various sushi options. For the Mongolian, it's $16.99 for lunch for ONE serving only vs $19.99 for AYCE at dinnertime. Obviously if you can, it's much better value to come for dinner as you get all you can eat for only 3 bucks more. Both of us got one serving for the Mongolian grill, which also comes with soup, a bowl of rice, and appetizer (crispy wonton chips in our case). They also give you gloves to wear for the Mongolian bar so everything is very hygienic. The selection of meats, veggies, and sauces for the Mongolian was excellent. For meats they had the basics: beef, pork, chicken, and bacon bits. But the veggies! I was shocked by how many veggie options they had as well as the extensive sauce selection. After cramming as much meat and veggies into my bowl as I could fit, I went with probably 7-8 scoops of various sauces, and I thought that was enough flavor. My friend found his stirfry bland because he didn't include enough sauce, so make sure you're putting enough. I also got the Caterpillar roll ($13.99), which was super soft and creamy and really hit the spot. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it on top of my noodles, but somehow I managed to find enough space to finish it. Honestly the bowl by itself would've been enough food, but no regrets about getting the extra sushi roll! We came for lunch right when they opened at 11am, thought it was ayce but turned out lunch is one plate only. The servers were very nice. They weren't too busy, maybe 10 people by the time we leave (some people took the food to go). There were four choices of meat (bacon, beef, pork, chicken). Three choices of noodles and plenty of vegetables. I should have put more sauces in mine. My advice is go for 8-10 scoops of sauce. Would love to check out the ayce dinner next time. I like the option of experimenting with different combinations, verse the one-go lunch, you want to fill up your bowl as tall as you can to get your money worth. read more

Today, my wife and I were looking for something new to eat since we've pretty much eaten at almost every place in Redding. She said, "Hey, I see there's this place called Coco's, which is like that Kahunas place that used to be here. Do you want to go there?" I said, "Is it like a Mongolian Grill type of place?" She replied, "Exactly like that!" Since we've been to Mongolian Grill-style restaurants before and are pretty familiar with that kind of setup, we decided to give it a try and grab a bite to eat there. We drove up to the restaurant, and because it was closer to midday, there weren't a lot of cars in the parking lot yet. We walked inside and were pleasantly greeted with a cheerful, "Hello and welcome in!" What a warm welcome! We told the lady who greeted us that it was our first visit to Coco's and that we were excited to try it out. We were seated promptly and given a quick explanation of how the restaurant worked and what our options were. We explained that we were familiar with Mongolian-style restaurants and opted for the $19.99 all-you-can-eat bowl. After getting our drinks, we headed over to the bar where all the ingredients were laid out. There were plenty of options to choose from--lamb, beef, chicken, and pork. After choosing my proteins--lamb and chicken--I added noodles, tomatoes, celery, and cabbage to my bowl. I handed it to the guy at the grill, and the waitress came over and said, "Since we're not that busy, I'll bring your food to you once it's finished." We thanked her and went to sit down. A few minutes later, the same lady came back and asked, "Would you like crispy noodles and pineapple in your bowl as well?" We said yes, and when she brought the food to our table--let me tell you--it was delicious, hot, and super satisfying. Thank you so much, Coco's, for a wonderful experience. Super mind staff and a nice interior, I liked how welcoming everyone was regardless of their position. Definitely worth it. Miso Soup - 7/10 Umami , I love how light it feels as well. The color was a bit cloudy, but I don't know how normal that is. Calamari - 6/10 Seemed to be frozen and it looked like fishsticks, not that good, but not offensive. Mystery Roll - 8/10 On the right Crunchy and soft, my girlfriend's favorite. The mango added a nice balance between sweetness and umami, definitely worth the purchase and visit alone. For not being in the coast the fish seemed fresh and didn't overpower the dish. The eel sauce was a nice yummy touch. They tell you to eat those and then fill your bowl, but don't listen. Go fill your bowl, when you get back to the table the apps will be waiting for you. Here is a tip, put your noodles on top! Save the room in your bowl for the wide selection of frozen meats and fresh veg. Don't skimp on the sauces! Check out the seasonings and after cooking additions, I added a splash of vinegar and hoisin to mine. Oh! Those shitake mushrooms taste so good! It was quiet with no other customers yet, which made for a great, relaxed experience. The restaurant itself is spacious and exceptionally clean. The stations for Mongolian BBQ fixings and the chefs' area were well-stocked and spotless. The staff were super friendly, and parking was plentiful--5 stars for all of these aspects. My dad and I opted for the Mongolian BBQ. The food was delicious, but I did notice a couple of items (like the sprouts and mini corn) didn't appear very fresh. I steered my dad away from those, but overall, the meal was still enjoyable. My wife ordered the T1 Hungry Tempura Special Roll. She said it was good, though not the freshest sushi she's had. A bit more freshness would've taken it to the next level. She gave it a solid 4/5 stars. One suggestion I have is for the restaurant to create a menu or guide with sauce combinations for the Mongolian BBQ. Right now, the options are basically "spicy" or "not spicy," which left me a bit lost on what sauce combo to use. A simple guide with different flavor profiles would be incredibly helpful and enhance the experience. All in all, we'd definitely return. Poor customer service, very rude, and got our order wrong. When contacted I was told "I don't care, I'm busy" so no they will never see a dime from me and I recommend not from you either. Normally I don't go to sushi places where there's not an all you can eat option, well, cause the prices add up too fast otherwise. But this time I was invited to come here so it's all good as I'm not paying. The inside is all very nice and clean and the service was just fine. We ordered a few rolls to try. I just let my host do all the ordering since he's been here before. The rolls arrived in the order we ordered. I hate when all the food all arrives at the same time, the you can't concentrate on each food item. The rolls all tasted good in a sort of American sushi roll kinda way. Went for Valentine's Day, it was busy. Wife and daughter had Mongolian grill bowls and son and I had sushi rolls. The bowls were great as always, soup and appetizers passable. The sushi was not great. It took a long time to get which I can understand given the heavy traffic but the fish was not fresh and the presentation was poor. We have been looking for a AYCE mongolian grill since our go to in Vallejo closed a couple of years ago. We were in Redding for a week and found this place. ABSOLUTELY surprised with the wide variety of meats, vegetables, sauces & seasonings. If you only get 1 bowl & don't finish it, you can take it home (nice surprise). If you get more than 1 bowl, no take home but AYCE kicks in. I almost forgot to mention the yummy soup & appetizer included in the AYCE. Another great place in Redding! We went to coco Mongolian grill a few times in the past and we thought we can give them a redemption to give us better services. I mean 5 years ago compared to now they may have changed... nope!! We went there sat down and ordered sushi, which sushi is good here when we have it but they still take forever. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hrs before we left and paid about 200 for food. Everytime we come here we wait hrs for our food. Honestly just not going to go back. lol if you have all day go ahead and wait. They have one cook at the Mongolian grill station and the line was long, but he didn't even take as long as how the sushi was coming. Stopped here for lunch while on the road. They had sushi and a Mongolian BBQ option. (Be aware Mongolian BBQ lunch is not all you can eat; it's only one trip.) The sushi was fine. There was teriyaki sauce on all the rolls. I could've used a little variety. The Mongolian BBQ was fine too, but kinda missed the point, which is to get a nice, hot sear on the food. It was all just sort of cooked, and a lot of water was added as it was cooking, resulting in more or less steaming the food. All in all, the people there were really nice and welcoming. On our way to WA from CA, we stopped in here for a quick bite on the road. I thought it was a potential risk with a buffet food during covid, but overall, we were both largely impressed with our experience. The location is easy to get to from the freeway, and they have a giant private lot to park in. Once inside, the spacious restaurant had no issues with socially distancing parties for lunch. We both opted for the bbq lunch, which came with soup, wontons and rice. In terms of the options in the bbq line, I was pretty impressed. This was the first Mongolian bbq I've ever been to that offered bok choi or shitake mushrooms- both of which I was delighted to see. Their veggies were fresh, which was pretty important for this mostly vegetarian person. The toppings and seasonings were well stocked, but their sauce area was a hot disaster, with it being so hard to use with the sneeze guard, all the sauces were running into each other, and everything tasted like a mix of everything which was unfortunate. For the actual bbq, I was a little wary about the chefs using the same wooden stirrers for the raw meat/food and the cooked food. The way they were doing it was very different from what I've seen before. That said, we both ate here and neither of us got sick, thankfully. Prices were fair for the selection and freshness of ingredients. The restaurant was spacious, and service was prompt but largely unfriendly. The bathroom was the biggest downside, and was run-down, stank profusely, and was a huge negative to the experience. This was one of the cleaner Mongolian bbq restaurants I've been to in a while. They also had more veggies options than I'm used to seeing. One thing to note is that their spring rolls on the menu and included with the bbq meal are filled entirely with cream cheese and not the normal spring roll filling. This was a surprise to me as I've never had a spring roll like that, and I do not like cream cheese! So heads up if you're a cream cheese hater like I am. The service in my opinion was terrible. We were seated in an entirely empty restaurant and were not attended to the entire time. I had a couple interactions with an extremely sassy and grumpy waiter. I'm unsure if you normally pay at the counter or wait for check at the table, but a little time went by so I walked up and asked if we were supposed to pay at counter. One of the waiters got extremely grumpy and told me to sit down and they'd bring our check. 10 mins later our check came and another 30 minutes passed until we finally able to pay. With a completely full dining area, the waitresses went above and beyond to make sure we were seated Rath quickly. We showed up a couple minutes before and were told that it would be a while because they were short staffed and "the old lady isn't working". While we waited, we watched customers already seated get up and leave without having ordered because they waited too long. I'm not sure what's happened to this place or if it was a one time thing...it was all bad. Two hours for us all to get our orders taken, our food served - minus the rice, appetizers and soup that was supposed to come with it, none of us got that - and then beg for the checks. We ended up going to the cashier without our check to pay after three times asking for it didn't work. And the food we received was only ok...lacked any real flavor.
