We had work done for installing a heat pump heating and cooling system in San Francisco, had numerous issues, and now a few years later the cooling system is broken and it is only producing warm air. I called to have it serviced, as it is within the 5 year warrantee window, and it no longer has a functioning phone number. All the numbers lead to nothing. The original owner is unknown to me, but Jonathan Gispan is the only person I was ever in touch with. Now I'm left with no way to have service under the 5 year labor warrantee nor do I have receipts for the equipment which should have a 10 year warrantee. Bummer. I should not have made this choice to go with their services. I feel duped, similar to the other recent reviewers. From what I understand, this is fraud. I believed in the moment after meeting with 8 HVAC contractors that I decided on the correct company. My experience with Attic Bright was pretty much the absolute worst case scenario you could imagine. After accepting my project, I was left finding solutions and hiring people on my own to find a solution for various items. Ok, fine... I made it happen and eventually had the replacement furnace placed in the position I desired. At the time I had an unruly tenant who typically made every situation a possible high stress situation and I explained this clearly to Jonathon and and Dave at Attic Bright. The installation went seemingly ok until I went to Marin for the night and received a text from my tenant that the furnace was no longer working. Hmmm, curious. So I looked at my security cameras and I found the subcontractor Attic Bright hired, entering my home (after the installation was complete for days) and leaving with Furnance parts. I was shocked and contacted Attic Bright immediately and I was told that the police have been notified as the subcontractor had stolen Furnance parts. After days of Attic Bright attempting to repair the previous installation to no avail, I contacted the original subcontractor to ask him if he can please return my parts. He informed me that Attic Bright did not pay him and that is why he returned to my home and removed parts to make the Furnance non functioning. I know, insane. As my tenant is lashing out to me about not having a functioning Furnance, I decide to ask the original subcontractor to return and I will pay him directly. He agrees, comes over, reinstalls the pieces he removed and I had a functioning Furnance once again. The lack of accountability and initiate to make things right by Attic Bright is baffling. They did refund me some of the money but they did not refund me what I had to pay out of pocket to have their subcontractor return. This is the short version of the story. Maybe they are great at cleaning out attics, but they are unqualified and do not have the resources to install a furnace in a 3 story home nor do they treat clients in a respectful manner, and apparently do not pay their subcontractors. Who now has worked for me a few times I should add. Regarding the HVAC system installed, it's mediocre at best. They blew smoke up my ___, and I fell for it. We had high hopes with using Attic Bright as our contractor to install a brand new HVAC system in SF home. We chose Attic Bright (Jonathan) because during the sales pitch, we were filled with confidence with their promises to deliver a great product and pass inspection 6 months later, however the entire experience with Attic Bright was just terrible. First the execution falls below par and after paying the bulk of the contract we are left with a sloppily installed HVAC system (refer to photos) that did not pass inspection (correction notice on the permit) and an unclear path to resolution. Second the communication post payment has been extremely challenging. Over 2 months, we called, texted, left voice mails, emailed multiple times. In return, we get more promises and missed appointments with no end in sight. We let Attic Bright have chance after chance, but it's becoming clear Attic Bright does not want to take responsibility. We used Attic Bright for purchase and install of a whole house fan (QuietCool model). Overall happy with the install job and performance of the fan, and the price was reasonable. A couple hiccups: - We were quoted (by Jonathan) for a "wifi switch" so I can integrate the fan with home automation stuff...but they did not install a switch capable of connecting to any automation systems. I did my own research and it's clear that this isn't really an option for QuietCool fans; it seems like something Jonathan should be aware of. - The subcontractor electrician didn't wire the switch properly so our low speed setting didn't work when he left, and he didn't seem to be familiar with the proper wiring. We had a Rheem furnace with forced air and they added a 16 Seer Goodman AC on top. We also had them re-insulate our ducts because they found most of our insulation was falling apart. They were rigorous, meticulous, and did a spotless job. These are honest people who care. The airflow wasn't perfect in one room and they came back and re-ducted a split, and re-balanced the airflow in our house over a whole morning to ensure every room was getting the right amount of air at the right temperature - no extra charge. This summer have been brutal for me and everyone else in the house. We keep the AC on literally 24 hours a day at 77 degree but it feels like the house never really reach that temperature. We were getting annoyed with the heat and the electricity bill until a friend recommended us to give this place a call because maybe it could be our home not being able to retain the heat/ cool air temperature. I'm very disappointed. I scheduled an appointment a week ago and Jonathan ended up rescheduling last minute. Now the day comes to when he was supposed to show up. My appointment was set for 5:30, and I get a call at 4:55 saying that he was running late due to traffic. I explained that it was okay since I was at home but 2 hours has passed and still no sign of Johnathan. I was helping my brother move into the house he just bought a couple weeks ago. The previous owners lived in the house for about 7 years. We noticed that the basement had some rodent problems so we decided to contact attic bright. We were able to find tiny crawl spaces with holes where rats would go through and some roaches that would also pass through the walls. It was Jonathan that spoke with me about pricing and the process of rodent proofing the basement. Luckily, Jonathan was very helpful with the process and he was able to give us service in short time. These folks are phenomenal: professional, hardworking and thorough. My mom had an recurring rat problem under her house. Pest-control companies were merely laying traps or plugging only the most basic entry points. Attic Bright did a deep review of all entry points (even the most hidden) and also found that the critters were tearing up and nesting in the insulation, which just kept drawing them to the space. Attic Bright tore out the old poop-infested insulation, replaced and sealed it with polymembrane sheeting to deter any rat-roaming (which is now highly unlikely anyway, since they also cemented all soil areas near entry points and tightly sealed all active and potential entry gaps), placed better insulation on the pipes and cleaned all ducts. Finally they thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the crawl spaces of any rat "residue". Jay, who came to our place for the inspection, was very friendly, knowledgable, and patiently walked me through everything that needed to be done. He was detailed in explaining the work involved, and didn't try to upsell anything. He also provided me with the best quote of all the companies I spoke to. Within a day, Jay showed up at our place with Reuben and Julio who worked through the day patching possible rodent entry points on the roof, crawl space, and all around the house. They were thorough in identifying entry points and sealed them with concrete, hardware cloth and foam. One particularly problematic area was the crawl space door since it had big gaps around the hinges and frame. I did not want to simply use wire mesh for the door gaps as every other company had suggested. Wire mesh can bend and is a hazard to anyone entering the crawl space. When I asked Jay if he could repair the door with plywood, he graciously accommodated my request. I am very impressed with the fabulous work done by Attic Bright on the crawl space door -- they fixed it with a plywood frame and repaired the concrete sill. In addition to rodent proofing, they also vaccumed and sanitized the entire crawl space leaving it looking like new. I was very impressed and satisfied with the service Jonathan and his crew provided! After finally deciding to deal with the ongoing rodent issues in our attic (at night I could hear them scratching above the ceiling), I emailed Attic Bright to request a free inspection and estimate for rodent decontamination, proofing, cleaning and re-insulation. Jonathan quickly replied, and after performing the inspection and taking photos in the attic showing rodent activity - as well as removing a dead rat, ugh! - he provided an estimate that I found fair and fit my budget, and included a warranty for their work. He also showed me - and reconnected - a duct that somehow disconnected some time ago and as a result hadn't been providing adequate heat/AC flow to our 2nd bedroom (I had shared this observation with Jonathan). Jonathan and his crew came out the next day, taking care to cover and protect the stairs and other areas in our home as they performed the work. In the crawl space below our home in Lafayette, rats had chewed and invested our HVAC duct work. I contacted several pest proofing and several HVAC companies for inspections and got bids. I settled on Atticore (now combined with Attic Bright). First, they were one of the few pest companies that would also replace our ductwork (at about half the cost of one of the HVAC companies). And second, their inspection of our home was very thorough. Sadly, they discovered years of rat activity in our attic as well and recommended they clean the attic and replace all of our insulation - the entire house. lAttic Bright was quite friendly initially, but has not followed through with the last stage of the attic and crawlspace work they perform. They were to check traps for rodent and possibly set more traps, one of the main reasons I had the attic and crawlspace done. After emphatically stating that he would not leave the post-inspection undone, and after missing at least two appointments, Jay of Attic Bright stopped responding. Also, Attic Bright is erratic about keeping appointments and about who they say will contact you. How inconvenient to have some unexpected person at an unexpected time appear to perform the task as you're leaving your home. I had to wait for more funds to have moisture blocking done and will gladly hire someone else. Because it's frustrating to make arrangements to leave work early for a no-show. Our older Walnut Creek home (built in 1945) needs electrical upgrades in the attic and then new insulation, but the first step was to remove the ancient, ineffective insulation. Attic Bright removed the old insulation in my townhouse attic, cleaned the attic of all debris, sealed any openings at seams and around vents with foam sealing, then installed R38 insulation. It's a dirty, tough job, but they did excellent work and were very efficient and thorough. Also the 3 workers, and Jonathan the owner/supervisor, were very cordial. A few weeks after the installation I heard a large animal in my attic in the middle of the night. I called them back and they did a thorough inspection for openings inside the attic, then on the roof. There were 4 vent/pipes in the roof where an animal could possibly enter, so they sealed each one with wire mesh. They also took photos to show me the work they did on the roof. This was at no additional charge. We are now hoping no more animals can access my attic! read more

Jonathan and team showed up promptly in the morning to begin work (a welcome change from our experience with other contractors). Julio spent a long day in the attic removing the old blown in insulation, cleaning any sign of rodents, installing new blanket insulation and sealing to prevent rodents from returning. Our house was having issues cooling down and staying cool. We originally thought about getting another a/c added to our home but after inspecting our attic and crawl space we noticed it was not up to code and the reason why our home was always hot.
