I usually go to a place a few doors down, but he's on vacation at the moment. My 1990 Honda Accord wouldn't start. Tried to jump it, but it wouldn't even turn over. I figured either the starter or ignition. Anyway, brought it here, and Garnik did find it was the starter. He even figured out it had the wrong starter in there, probably from before when I got the car. Anyway, Garnik is awesome, like some others have mentioned, he's not out to rip you off, he truly cares about doing a good job fixing cars, and he charges really reasonable prices. Whew. I've been getting nervous if my guy ever retired, but now I know Garnik is a great mechanic too. What's a little funny, is that being in the Bay Area all these years, I sort of expect an attempt to get ripped off. I've been going to G&H Auto Care for over a year. I bring two cars there: a 2010 BMW and a 2004 Honda. The service has been great. For example, I had an issue getting the warranty company to cover a BMW repair and the owner was able to convince the claims adjuster to cover the work. That saved me about $1200. After investigating the source of any issue, the owner communicates the options clearly . His estimates on repair service have been accurate and there have been no surprises. If you are looking for a skilled BMW mechanic with great prices, G&H is the place for you. I have been to several BMW repair shops throughout the Bay Area. G&H offers the best combination of service and value by far. Please note, G&H does fast high quality service, but is a basic operation (they can make your BMW purr, but don't expect a loaner vehicle). Garnik, the owner/ mechanic is fast, skilled, and extremely cost competitive. On my first trip, I had recently gone to a BMW dealership in the area for a scheduled out of warranty period servicing. The dealer told me I needed new brakes, etc. and wanted a small fortune for it. After calling around, I decided to take my car in to G&H. Garnik used factory parts and did the whole job for 1/3 the price of the dealership. What's more, he pointed out that the dealership had left the skid plate off the bottom of my car (2002 3 series). It took some work, but I was able to get the dealership to admit their oversight and fix it. Since then, I've been coming back here for all of my services (except for a stint of time where I moved to close to sf to make the drive practical. Even then, I couldn't find another shop as good as G&H). A co-worker recommended this place to me when I moved to the bay area in 2008 when I needed to get the brakes replaced on my Civic. What I really like about this place and Garnik (owner/mechanic) other than the fast service, the OEM parts and the cost of the repair, is his honesty which I feel is the MOST important quality you need in a mechanic. He only replaced/fixed what needed to be fixed and nothing else. I have been to other places that try to coerce you to replace half your car every time you go for an oil change. I found Mr. Garnik's shop per coincidence, on my search for a smog repair garage, as I drove on El Camino in Santa Clara. Al though hidden behind the car wash, this place is a true find. My car did not pass the smog test and would have needed according to an other garage a repair of up to 2000.00. So Mr. Garnik took a look, gave my good advise regarding using better fuel on this 2001 Subaru. As the check engine light still did not stop showing up, he then made only the repair which was really necessary. I am very satisfied to have found an honest, reliable, efficient, respectful mechanic. He made the diagnose of my car without charge and ordered the part, which arrived and was put in within 30 mins.
