*No More 69 ~~ Gabino's 70th Positive Review* I'm not going to go on & on with my storytelling rants, sprinkled with facts, humor and sarcasm. Because all the other 69 reviews are true & legit. Okay, maybe I'll express myself a little bit... Marcel & Gabino's rocks. I mean rocks. Had the pleasure of meeting the man Marcel himself without realizing he's the humble and happy face & brains behind this creative spin on savory crepes. And what did we talk about? Baseball and the Dodgers of course, because he was sporting a cool chocolate brown Dodgers hat that caught my attention. And my Mom's too. That's right my Mom. She eats gluten-free (and loves the Dodgers) I had been waiting to surprise her and bring her here ever since I discovered this place from Diners, Drive-in's & Dives and been following all the 5-star reviews of his newborn location in Indio, that's deserving of the Rookie of the Year Award. What did we order you ask? Mom: Gluten-Free Chicken Caesar Crepe (dairy-free) without cheese baked in to the crepe, and no cheese sauce too. And tho their "secret sauce" is dairy-free, she sampled it before placing the order (Marcel's idea) but it has a bit of a kick of spice she wasn't in the mood for. But Mom still LOVED every bite of her crepe cone...and can't wait to go back. Here's some of Mom's greatest hits: "Wow this is really good" "The chicken is so good" "There's so much chicken" "This has so much flavor with just the Caesar's dressing" "I can't believe how crispy they're able to make a gluten-free crepe" "Good thing you got extra napkins" "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" "Thank you for bringing me here" "I can't wait to come back" My Choice: I went with the Chicken Pesto Crepe without cheese sauce, with the "secret sauce" on the side. Tho I don't eat too much gluten & dairy, I wanted the full effect of my first crepe here, that's cooked with cheese into the outside, because I've never experienced any crepes served like this. And glad I did because it was bursting & packed with so much flavor (even without the cheese sauce) and the "secret sauce" on the side -- which is kinda like a spicy mayo that's the consistentcy & color of tarter sauce. Every bite was absolutely Triple-D-Licious. Even the bites without any sauce because the chicken pesto has the perfecto Italian flavor that's fantastico. Along with the crispy crepe cone and the fresh and crisp romaine lettuce, it's the prefect combo of savory, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It truly is one-of-a-kind delight. A special shoutout to Mason, who I had spoken with on the phone a few days prior, to ask some questions about their crepes and dietary restrictions. He told me to ask for him when we decide to come in because he wanted to meet me & mom. Though the inside decor has a cool & comfy vibe, Mom & I wanted to sit outside on the patio on the side of their building and enjoy the beautiful first day of spring. The patio overlooks a small park next-door, train tracks with moving trains on the other side, and an amazing painted wall of flowers on the side of their corner building. After we finished eating, Mason came outside to ask how we enjoyed our crepes and some more playful banter. Couldn't ask for more kindness & charisma from this charming and eager young man. Mom agreed. As you can see & read, I really enjoyed myself & lunch. Gabino's Creperie propelled itself into the top 5 of my favorite things I've eaten in the Coachella Valley. I told Marcel that when we struck up another conversation before leaving...and told him I'll definitely be back with my wife and want to try the Turkey Crepe next time...and he says "that's my favorite one." But wait there's more: rumor has it the Cheesesteak Crepe that's only served on Fridays (seen on tv with Guy Fieri) is outrageous and a must...so I'll need to try that one too. Little did I know: because I checked-in via Yelp upon arrival, the next day I received an email from Gabino's offering me $5 off my next visit (expires in 30 days) Great marketing. If you're still reading: make sure to leave on the brown bag paper wrapping surrounding the crepe cone. Because the oil from the cheese on the outside of the crepe can get a little messy & greasy. I usually don't like grease with my food. But this entire experience was well worth the grease on my fingers...and the one drop that landed on my lap ;-) so make sure to ask for extra napkins. Whether you like crepes or not, I highly recommend you give Gabino's Creperie a try and decide for yourself. I absolutely love crepes and eat it all the time but Gabino's crepes are so unique. If they had these somewhere near a sporting event or concert, people would go nuts for it. The outside crusted cheese is so unique and delicious. We ordered online and our crepes were ready for us within 15-20 mins and packaged for an easy pickup. We ordered: 1. BBQ Chicken: This was my main one that I ate and I loved it. Large pieces of chicken with very high quality flavorful BBQ sauce. I love the texture of the crepe and the crunchiness of the cheese on the outside. 2. Chicken Pesto: I only had a small piece and it was very delicious. Nice pesto flavor. 3. Cesar: Also just had a small piece but it was also delicious! Cesar salad flavor with nice crunchy texture from the outside cheese. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, it's worth the price for the crepe. I could only eat half even though I wanted to eat the whole thing! The outside cheese skirt on the crepe itself is chef's kiss! The crunch, the saltiness, everything about it.....delicious! My experience there was very nice! I had came with two of my friends and this was the very first place we stopped by. Upon arriving I was the first one to place my order, I'd call for a chicken pesto crepe sandwich, an orange poppi and a strawberry milkshake. However there was a bit of a silly confusion on my part when it came down to ordering the milkshake it wasn't exactly put in but the lady who took my order was very sweet and it was fixed immediately. :) The decor there was very simple but elegant which was very much appreciated.! read more

Crepes should only be made this way. Phenomenal savory bundles of joy. And the Indio location is such a vibe. Big open space, industrial feel, pleasant staff who are working very hard--it's just awesome. But the crepes, nothing like we have ever had. My kids love the pepperoni pizza, and I for sure love the chopped cheese and chicken pesto. Owner is local, and pours into the community and helps serve and make the food as well. We wanted to go try this place, had seen post about it on Instagram from a local realtor that reviews upcoming or newly opened businesses. We always like to support new businesses. The food was good flavorful, and generous in portion, nothing to rave about though. It was a Wednesday evening, went there with family. Place was not busy at all they had only a group of 4 individuals seated at a table already eating. Employees were nice but not welcoming and not attentive. We were asking questions about the menu, it was obvious it was our first time. Staff member taking our order didn't bother to make recommendations or any sort. Since it's new place they should try to offer or suggest something. It's fast food restaurant, you order at counter they bring it to your table. They served our food, but they had forgotten to prepare one of our orders. The way you get your food it's almost like a to go even though we said we are eating in. Each crêpe sandwiches came wrapped in parchment paper packed in a small size soup cup, made it difficult to eat. Would have preferred to get a paper plate, forks and knifes to cut into, or even double triple wrapped in parchment paper to be useful as plate,(like subway). We ordered chicken wraps and burger wraps. They didn't provide enough napkins so had to go to counter no one was there all staff were in the back kitchen. They couldn't see me so had to ring bell to get their attention. I asked if they had plates as well as napkins because it comes in the small soup cups. Let's just say we wanted to support them as they just opened, however they would need work on the small important things out. I don't get the hype. At all. When a place is this hyped, it always reminds me of the pseudo-hype TKB got back in the day for mid sandwiches. When we arrived, we were greeted by the cook. He seems nice. Go to the register, start looking at the menu and the cashier seems disinterested. We ask her about a couple of the items and she points to a closer menu and just says, "The ingredients are right there." She wasn't overtly rude, but more flippant. For a more niche place like this, I'd expect more of a personalized experience- not one I can get at McDonalds. That was off-putting. The food is done quick and I can't remember the name for them, but one was like a burger. The first bites are all lettuce and the meat has fallen down into the bottom of the cone shape. And when I finally do get to the meat of it, it tastes like something I could have made at home with the exception of the crepe. It was like $35 for two crepes and the other person was still hungry. And we didn't get any sides or drinks. Probably won't be back. read more

I absolutely love crepes and I was super excited to try this gem. The ambiance was cute and clean to start. We arrived around 11ish on a Sunday and there was a couple parties sitting down. We ordered and got our food within 10mins or so. My husband got the chicken, I got a bbq chicken salad and we also got the bananas and Nutella. We decided to order food to go for our kids and at this point the restaurant was half full and 2 parties ordering. We ordered our food and as we sat the restaurant looked like it was visibly getting busier. 30mins passed and still no food. I checked on our order and the cashier said they had too many online orders. Come find out they hadn't even started on ours. After 45mins ours was finally ready. Because we had to wait so long, the cashier gave us a drink on the house. Just for recommendation purposes. When you have an indoor dining that is getting packed, might have 2 work on dining in orders to keep up and after you catch up crank the Togo online orders. So why the 3 stars, 1. Was the wait, 45mins is ridiculously long for 2 crepes and a salad. 2.
