It went so well the first time, we are at it again! On a friend's recommendation, we sought out G+A for our main guest bathroom and master bedroom closet remodels. Stephen Gabor was hands on from design to finish and we actually enjoyed it! OK, maybe not the chaos of actual construction but the people (from Stephen down to every one on his crew) were nice, hardworking professionals who not only did a great job, but were careful and sweet with our 16year old dog that kept getting in their way. =) The surprise of majorly damaged walls and old pipes that needed to be completely redone added to the timeline but when it was all said and done, we could not have been happier. So we are now doing our master bathroom and the last guest bathroom with G+A and their crew! read more

I am a real estate agent and have successfully referred Gabor + Allen to a few clients. They are thoughtful in their designs and execution. They deliver exactly what they say they are going to do. They are not the cheapest but I have learned over and over again that eventually you will pay for the work you are having done. Either have it done the right way the first time or have it fixed. I would highly recommend them to just get what you want the first time. They are money well spent and will only increase the value of your home no matter what you are doing to it. Construction is one of the only things in the world that you must pay for before you see the final result. You don't walk into a car dealership and put your money down before you know what you're going to get. That's why it's imperative that you go with a company that values quality and has some serious integrity. I see a few reviews here that are low and ultimately they did little or no work with the company. As a customer that spent over $100,000 with Gabor + Allen I can tell you that their work is second to none. Even a year after the job was done I felt I must return and write this review. Every time I wake up in the morning and enjoy the full renovation of my place I think of Stephen and his team. I've uploaded some images of their work so you can see the exceptional quality and attention to detail. My place was 40+ years old and I had the vision that would make a Las Vegas 5 star hotel blush. Stephen Gabor, his designer Chelsea and their solid crew made the dream a reality. The pictures don't lie. :) This was a full gut of a large area, right down to the studs. The attention to detail was insane. Measurements had to be dead on and to the nearest quarter inch for everything to fit. Symmetry was everywhere and they delivered. Grout lines in a shower that actually make mathematical, beautiful, sense, who else will offer you that? (note the image of the shower and how all the fixtures line up exactly centered on the grout lines, not randomly in some awkward piece of a tile). To achieve this it meant several more cuts and HOURS of labor, but quality is what you get when you go with these guys. From the moment you first meet them you can see you are working with true professionals and I can't say enough good things about the kind of quality and precision they offer you. If you are looking for low end apartment quality renovations, G+A isn't your go to company. If you're looking to renovate your home into a dream that you want to live in and enjoy for endless years to come, don't risk going anywhere else. read more

My husband and I engaged Gabor + Allen to transform our 3bed/2 bath home into a 5 bed/5 bath home. We were on a tight timeline and had a tight budget as well. We live in the hillside district, within the Mulholland Corridor and are on a septic system, so designing a new space, on a budget that managed to not require any variances or special approvals while still giving us the additional space we needed was no small feat! Patrick & Stephen came up with several preliminary floor plans and helped guide us through our design process. They skillfully navigated city approvals and provided us with a plan that we love -without requiring a single exemption from the city! As we went through construction, G+A stayed involved - spending hours at our home working with our GC to ensure that the final product is first rate. Stephen has provided great guidance on finishes and vision. Upon completion, G+A did a final walk through with us to make sure every detail was addressed. We are now living in our house and every day my husband and I comment on how awesome the new space is. We said we wanted more storage space - we've literally moved 2/3 of our garage storage into the house & still have 2 nearly empty closets! Our house is only 2700 sf and every bedroom is plenty big - you have to see it to believe it. The design transformed our home and the finishes that G+A helped us with are so cool! We got the modern aesthetic we wanted - used some pretty fashion-forward designs and ended up with a house like I never thought we'd have. We're so happy! They are awesome!! We have been working with Gabor and Allen on a three-part landscape design project. Phase one is complete and we are extremely happy with the results. When you work with a contractor, the number one priority is trust. Trust that you aren't being over-charged for something you shouldn't be. Trust that the work is being done to the highest quality. Trust that your vision will be executed the way you hope it to be (even if it doesn't make sense, an expert should make sense of it). Trust that the people working on your property will treat your property and belongings with respect. It's the most important part of the relationship. I could write a review saying how amazingly collaborative, creative, passionate and helpful both Stephen and Patrick are to work with, but you get that point by reading everyone else's positive reviews of their work. I could tell you how much we love our kitchen, living room, interior, and front and back yard remodel and how enjoyable their team was to work with - from the design team in the office to the guys on-site every day who were knowledgeable and polite and so darn fast, but you'll get that point by reading everyone else's positive reviews of their work as well. I could also tell you that if you are a creative person yourself, they are the best team to hire because they love the creative process, so all of us Mar Vista-creative-tech-type families would get a kick out of the planning and executing of the creative vision together, but you probably already could tell that these guys would deliver if you're a creative person on this site. Not sure who the folks writing 1 star reviews are (shady competitors?) because Stephen and team were incredible to work with. After meeting with several landscape architects we knew within minutes of meeting Stephen that they were the team we would be going with. Stephen listened to all our needs, offered excellent insight and ultimately over the course of the design phase delivered a plan that exceeded all our expectations. We had a hard deadline to meet on the project and Stephen and his incredible team went above and beyond to complete the project in time and to perfection. Stephen has remained available to us after the project for any questions, follow up, advice, and post completion adjustments that have been needed. I can't recommend Gabor/Allen enough. read more

I must say it's been my privilege to work with such a great team in Gabor + Allen! We've had a working relationship with G + A for many years as we do subcontract work for them. They run a tight ship and are as courteous and professional as they come! My guys are always happy when I tell them "today we're working for Gabor + Allen." ....... Wasted time on the phone, then a meeting in person. Then waited and waited and never got an estimate or even a clue how much doing my space would entail. I told the woman who referred me and she was appalled at their lack of professionalism, as she was happy with her yard. She won't be referring them again and was sorry they wasted weeks of my time waiting to hear back and the time i spent with the appt and setting it up. It's hard to ever give someone thousands of dollars that can't return a phone call or have an assistant send an email to touch base and let you know why they aren't responding in a timely manner.
