We've been coming to Gabriel's since the taco truck days and during COVID, and it's been so cool to see it grow into a full-on restaurant and bar. We stopped in Friday night and had the fish taco dinner special--really good. Love the freshly made pico! I really enjoy finding good food trucks and I am glad this is in Oconomowoc daily. Gabriel and Rosa are the owners and are always very friendly. Everything is made to order, fairly fast and good proportions. I enjoy the Mexican style tacos (meat, onions and cilantro on a corn tortilla) over the American style, you can get both. The salsa verde is really good, pretty good kick and is very flavorful. Not sure what they add to that, but I've never had salsa verde like that. I get the steak tacos (Mexican style), my son usually opts for the ground beef. All fresh and made to order. They may be backed up with people and orders, so be patient if there are people ahead of you and it may take a bit of time to get your order but well worth it. read more

I don't know what I expected when I walked into this place, but "regret" wasn't on the menu -- though it should have been. First off, the chips were stale enough to double as roofing material. The salsa was so watery I thought it was tomato-flavored soup. I ordered chicken enchiladas, and I swear the chicken must've been raised on a diet of cardboard and despair -- zero flavor, all sadness. Service was... creative. Our server, Cody, brought us the wrong food, disappeared for 30 minutes, came back with white fluid dripping from the lips, then acted like we were the confused ones. At one point I honestly thought I was on a hidden camera show. Also, the margarita tasted like lime-scented windshield wiper fluid. Which would've been fine if I were trying to clean my moped, not enjoy a drink. It takes real effort to make Mexican food this forgettable. This is an amazing find in downtown Oconomowoc. Gabriel and Rosa, the owners of this food truck, are incredibly friendly and prepare the most excellent authentic Mexican food. The menu is extensive, the food is made fresh to order, and served hot and delicious. Fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, huaraches, tacos (Mexican style or American style) tostadas, sopes, quesadillas, nachos supreme, tamales, sincronizadas, tamales, machetes, tortas, and more. They also have a kids menu and combos. There are many vegetarian options. My vegetarian burrito was stuffed full of beans, rice, cheese, and vegetables. The desserts look delicious, although I did not have room to try any tonight. Flan and Mexican rice pudding, definitely I will try one the next time I'm here. They also do catering, and that would be excellent for any event. There are some tables and chairs set up beside the truck. It's still a little too chilly for outdoor dining but would be nice when it warms up. The hours are Monday thru Saturday, 10 am to 9 pm. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. read more

I can't eat cilantro. It's vile. May as well coat the food in dish soap. Inedible. I spent a solid 3 min, dear reader I kid you not, a full 180 seconds in subzero windchill explaining this to the order taker. Complete with gestures, amply clear that these taco were to have no cilantro. Dear reader, there was so much cilantro. Not just on top, but just jammed up into every nook and cranny of these tacos. This is a great taco truck... Authentic tacos al pastor, super fresh, made to order, and in the heart of where? Ocononowoc?! Score! The al pastor is seasoned so well, is a bit crispy here and there. The cilantro is fresh and pops with flavor and the tortilla very fresh, heated piping hot while remaining delicate all the while. Their salsa verde is one of the best I've had, with super bright notes of lime and cilantro! Pulled the highlighters from the tacos perfectly! Kids had quesadillas with carne asada and raved about them being so crunchy and cheesy! Only better if there were chips and salsa, but then I'd never leave! read more

Great food, but the customer service not so great. The 1st time I ordered, it was on the website. After waiting the 45 minutes it takes to get the food, I got there and they said they didn't see my order. I ended up waiting another 1/2 hour. The food was very good. The next time we ordered on the website again, waited 45 minutes, went to pick the food up. Got home to eat and the order was wrong. Called them, they told me to give them 10 minutes and so I went to pick it up and also brought back the wrong order. This time the owner was also there. He seemed pissed at me. I felt like he thought it was my fault by the way he looked at me & acted. I showed him my email of the order. I waited another 1/2 hour again. No apology or anything. Won't go back again. Having lived in Mexico for 8 years, I have become quite picky about my tacos... These tacos brought me back to all my corner Taqueria shops in Tijuana. As soon I stepped out of my car and caught to aroma of tacos I knew it was going to be good! I like variety in my tacos and so I enjoyed not only the Chicken and the Steak but their Lengua and Cabeza de Res was delicious. And the best way to wash them down is with their sweet Horchata drink. We ordered three of the #1 combos. We paid $31 and left a $9 tip in the jar at 6:30pm. We waited over an hour to get our food. They served at least ten people who had ordered after us. We were #6 and numbers #9-14 were served before us. I was told it was because they only ordered tacos, but several left with multiple bags of food. We got our food after 7:30pm. The food was barely warm and very dry. I was really excited to try them, but I'm very disappointed. I won't be going back. read more

We were very excited to try Gabriel's by the Oconomowoc furniture outlet. We ordered chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos and I don't know what kind of meat was in our meals, but we couldn't eat them. It was very pink and looked like salmon. I have had there tacos and tamales. I can say there tacos are very good and there tamales are decent. I would say there tacos are one of the best I've ever had and the hot sauce is great. If you get the tacos make sure to get it the Mexican way (onions and cilantro) they also sell more authentic types of tacos.. Like beef tongue and such. This is a very good example of bad mexican food I ordered 3 chicken tacos rice and frijoles the rice was not cooked all the way so it was uneatable the frijoles tasted horrible and cold and the chicken just didn't have a my flavor food went straight to the garbage a waste of $10 I think Waukesha has a lot better options when it comes to authentic Mexican food. read more

I work in Madison - when I've occasionally shopped the food trucks for lunch, there's variety and there's competition, and so almost always great. But back here on this end of the long commute - Gabriel's Taqueria is the real deal. The burrito is as big as my head, and is amazing. I usually go for steak or ground beef as my carne choice and it then includes the standard refried beans, spanish rice, tomato, cilantro, lettuce, sides of sour creme and red and green sauce - OK no surprises there right? But it's huge and well balanced and made on the spot instead of just a bit of frozen-processed-something-or-other-packed-with-preservatives and padded with filler. My wife and daughter love the food from here too. And it's not just a lunch thing. We had dinner from Gabriel's at 8PM this evening. In Oconomowoc, this is a humble gem of street food amazingness.
