I found this business here, Yelp, and called today in regards to my A/C, Karen got me in for an evaluation the same day and mentioned it will take about an hour. Gab, mechanic, came back within 3 minutes and told me a "fuse" blew up. My total bill $10!! WOW I fit the profile of a "single woman" they could of charged me whatever and mechanically speaking I could of not offer a counterargument to save my life, haha.... $10, how is that for honest!! I love Gab's! I truly miss Gab and Karen but I'm trying to adjust and get used to the new ownership. They were building my trust and all was going well until I stopped in and saw NO ONE wearing masks except the customers. WHAT??? Here they are greeting the public closer than six feet and the techs are getting into our vehicles and breathing in them! What's going on here??? This is rude, selfish and very unprofessional. There is a City and County ordinance requiring masks be worn in public (the law is being broken). I am deeply disappointed and mad at the same time. Shame on the new owner! read more

Regarding my last review, management acknowledged a misunderstanding and gave me a refund of the inspection fee.

We have been taking cars to Gab's for a number of years but will never go back after what just happened. The last repair they did was in June; in July the car died and had to be towed to them. They said it needed an alternator and a battery so my granddaughter decided after buying the car a year 1/2 ago and spending money on previous repairs , totaling about $3,500 ($2,800 purchase) to just park the car and buy a newer used car. Two days ago we got it back to Gab's to get the issue fixed ($533.00) so she could sell it. When Mark called and said it was fixed he then told me that they had to disconnect the A/C! I said it was working before but he insisted it was not and it would be another $1,400.! I said I would never have had it repaired if we had known that, so he said he would just take out the parts and I could pick it up the way it was brought in. Then I found out that the previous mechanic left a week 1/2 ago and now we have to deal with this guy who obviously doesn't care. We picked it up this morning and took it to Feeney's on Bell and 25th St, they did a free diaognosic test and said it was never the alternator or battery but the A/C was causing the issues. When I called Gab's to inform them the guy just hung up on me! I had never had a bad experience with the previous owner but now they seem to just scam people so we will never go back. read more

After reading reviews here on Yelp, I decided to take my van to have it checked out before a road trip. I had an instance in May where the engine hesitated after I had bought gas in Rocky Point. No problems with it since though. Gab's put it on the computer and found no error codes and nothing wrong with the vehicle. It did need an oil change and a new air filter. Great, they are honest! They checked everything belts, hoses, fluids etc. Van has been declared road worthy. I'm happy and will bring our other car to them also when it needs service. As many others have reported, Gab and his wife are very friendly and explained what was going on and what the outcome of the testing was right away. The business has changed owners and not what it once was. Spent 500$ and problem was not fixed. Was given nothing but bad attitude. Mark gave me nothing but attitude. Did not stand behind thier work. In addition no mask worn by employees despite being in the city limits where thier is a ask mandate. I have cancer you can see my concern. Never again. I am an out of towner and my car broke down in the area. I had a tight timeframe for travel that I needed the car repaired so I could get home. Gab's was amazing. The identified the problem quckly and were able to complete the work the following day. The talked me through the issue, pricing, and options very clearly. The owner even met me at the shop to receive my car on a Sunday (they are closed Sundays) and took the time to show me the bad parts they had pulled off the car and explain how things work. Gab's auto treats you like family. They inspected a used cargo van for me and gave me an estimate on the cost of fixing what I needed to drive back to Los Angeles. John lifted up the car and spotted a few major safety concerns before I made the final purchase. After the purchase I took it back to him to get it complete. I have been servicing my vehicle here for a while now off and on over the years and the place was recently sold and its under new ownership as of 2 months now. I think I've found my new mechanic - I brought my vehicle in for an inspection of the motor mounts. I didn't have a check engine light on, but it was running a little rough. To his credit, Gab didn't try to push me to getting the mounts replaced and said although all of them were showing signs of wear, they should last a while longer as long as I took care not to gun it off the line. The AC wasn't working on my Jeep so I did a search on Yelp. I found Gab's and they had great reviews. I called and told them about my AC and they said to bring it in. When I did, Gab met me at the counter and took my keys. He drove the jeep around back to look at it. I try to do most of my own work on my vehicles but I don't have the tools to fix or service the AC in my Jeep. I knew that I would be looking at about $100 in repairs depending if it was my compressor or if it just needed service. I was also prepared to have to leave my jeep for a day a or two since this is what other mechanics have to do. After about 3 minutes, Gab returned to the office with good news. He informed me that my compressor was good and he just needed to service the AC system. He told me it would be about 25 minutes and $95. I was more than happy to have my AC fixed for a reasonable price and in such a short amount of time. Living in the Arizona summers, AC is a must! After I left Gab's, my AC was ice cold. Literal "diamond in the rough" as they would say. Fixed my problem, in and out in less than 3 hours. As some other reviewers have said, they literally show you what is wrong on the old parts and break it all down for you. Even a lamen such as myself understood what was being said about the parts. I drove from Avondale to Gab's based on the shop's great reviews. I wasn't disappointed. Even without an appointment, Brian did an immediate assessment, worked my car into the daily schedule, willingly used parts I brought with me and was awesome at talking me out of doing unneeded work on my car. They offered to drive me all the way back to Avondale as it was going to take a while. I opted to hang out. The waiting area is simple but there is water and coffee and after doing a customer ride, Brian was even considerate enough to bring a pastry for me from his own stop at Dunkin Donuts. The mechanic who worked on my car was spectacular, efficient, and thorough. The car was delivered back to me right when they promised. They answered every question and did all the work for less than I expected. Best of all they warrantee all their work for two years, including all the parts they ordered and installed.
