Absolutely phenomenal street tacos. Recommend the asada and carnitas. The tortillas were cooked to perfection. The cilantro and onion were slightly sautéed, adding a perfect texture and deeper caramelized taste. The salsa is the best I've ever had. Everything had the right amount of spice. You cannot beat their taco prices! The interior had a great vibe. People seem to meet there to reconnect. Definitely mom and pop owned, service was great. We have gone several times and there is a somewhat long wait but not too bad to get your food. Today we waited over 40 minutes while others who came after us and got their food quickly. No one came to offer more chips or if we needed anything. I wasn't until I got up to ask for the status of our food and then we were informed that it would be 10 more minutes. By then it would be a 50 minute wait. It would have been okay if they had explained to us sooner but they didn't they just let us sit there. read more

Forgot to take picture of the Menudo I ordered. All I can say is, the owner is so accommodating and gracious. Menudo is the best in town. I bet all foods they serve are delicious. Felt like I'm actually eating home. Ambiance is so great. Can't get enough of greatness that I experience throughout the restaurant. For sure, anyone who's been locally a patron of the place is grateful to dine and eat there. I should/will eat there again when I find a chance to be in the neighbor for my delivery again. All in good honesty , I don't understand how some Mexican restraunts make it serving unflavored foods. How do you not get a simple cocido to have some flavor which was in this case that I ordered one , as we were passing by from santa clara heading home to fresno. Yum! Always have wanted to try this place. I normally prefer a fried fish taco, but the menu did not say how it was prepared. The shrimp tacos also said it was tilapia. So good!! A lot of fish in the taco. I ended up not wanting the cabbage or pico. Only 2 people working at noon on a Friday. So it was a bit busy with 4 tables. I've been to Gaeta's Taqueria before, but I pass it numerous times a week. I was craving some chorizo and eggs with rice and beans. I like that they used lean chunky chorizo and not the greasy oily chorizo. The flavor was good on everything, but I wish they gave more rice and beans on the plate. That's the cheapest things on the plate. Their chips were standard, but their salsa was nice and spicy. I like tasty spicy salsa. read more

This has to be one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at!! Decided to stop by and give this place a try after heading home from a Niner game. Worst decision ever!! I go the #4 plate which was two enchiladas and chile verde. The enchiladas were terrible!! The chili verde wasn't chile verde !! And to top it off, food is way overpriced 50 bucks for two plates!! Should've just went to In-N-Out!! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place. You're better off trying Del taco or Taco Bell!! The service was good. We needed to try a Mexican restaurant on this past Father's Day, and due to the high cumulative review score on Yelp we picked Gaeta's. My wife and two children were in love with their food. I was underwhelmed with mine. But due to the above average liking from my family, together combined with no time to cook tonight on our way home, they asked me if I could pick up food here to go and I thought I'd give it one last shot. I met the owner Emanuel - extremely professional, extremely friendly, and very thorough with my direct questions. It drives me crazy when I ask restaurant workers what their customers love the most on the menus and either the waiter the waitress or the hostess tell me what they personally like - which I don't care what they personally like. I want to know what the masses of customers rave about/enjoy. Emmanuel was very direct and gave me the top three favorites of his customer base. Chile Relleno was a top customer favorite if not the top number one favorite. It was something that I've had many years ago in Texas only once and wasn't impressed back then, but I thought I'd be brave and try it. And as a back up plan, I had a small shrimp quesadilla. Both the Chili Relleno as well as the Shrimp Quesadilla were OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS! Thank you Emmanuel, (and your mom) for the outstanding variety, quantity, and quality of your food here at your restaurant. I am going to be honest when we pulled up I was a little uncertain. However, my two daughters and I decided to go in before going shopping at the outlets. We walked in and the man at the counter was so welcoming and friendly, I think he could sense us being a little timid and he made a fun joke that quickly made us feel welcome. We were all in the mood for a burrito and we each ordered a deluxe burrito between the three of us we got Carne Asada, Carnitas and pastor. Before our burritos came out, we were served chips and salsa, which were not amazing. However, the burritos are absolutely the best burritos I've ever had and I have had my share. They serve complimentary chips and salsa (+) the chips itself taste like imitation styrofoam but the salsa was decent. Got the burrito deluxe with no pico & it was extremely mid. The beans are very watery (soaking the entire tortilla), the burrito had the smallest amount of guac and cheese i couldve imagined (as pictured). If it was advertised as "wet bean burrito" maybe it would've been fine. With that being said, the meat was very good & the green salsa had a good balance of spice and flavor. I was craving a Chile Relleno the other night. It's one of those things I do not cook myself (I never fry things). I looked through tons of menus snd reviews and settled on Gaeta's. I ordered this combo with Cheese enchaladas (yum) and one Chile Relleno (double yum). Husband ordered some sort of beef burrito thing that was massive! I also ordered guacamole (ugh I love the stuff) which costs about four bucks. Which is fine. And Chips and salsa. I'm not even sure where to begin! There was no YUM after food was sampled! The Chile Relleno was dry oily and completely tasteless. The majority of the pepper too tough to even chew through... my enchiladas ... not cheese but some sort of meat looked like beef also all dry. Please note I cannot eat beef ... this why I ordered cheese. The pinto beans it came with were cold and flavorless as was the rice. I managed about half of my Chile Relleno ... and that was all I was able to eat of my dinner. I scrapped out the beef from my enchiladas and gave it to the husband who said it was the plainest unseasoned beef he'd ever had. His burrito though massive was missing two of the advertised ingredients. And in his words 'it's ok.' That guacamole I ordered? Well it was not guacamole. It was a tablespoon (yes ... I measured it! Exactly one measuring spoon tablespoon) of slightly mashed avocado. That's right they just took a tablespoon of avocado put it in a tiny clear container, put a lit on it and blazingly called it guacamole (like no one would notice!) and charged me four bucks. Now don't get me wrong... I love avocado. I prefer mine with a little lime snd salt but can eat it plain with complete enjoyment. However, I did not order plain Avocado! I ordered 4.00 worth of guacamole. I was trying to work out how much that avocado would have cost me if I had bought the whole thing. At 4.00 per measuring tablespoon, Essentially I bought a 1/8th of 20.00 plain avocado. The chips and salsa (was that salsa?... on second thought was that chips?) oh I think perhaps I may have save the best (worst?) for last. They bent snd could not scoop a single thing if the watery tomato water they were claiming was salsa. The chips were oily bendable things that you could just tear in half (no break no crisp ... no chip!). They were not chips. The husband was horrified... we threw them all away. Completely inedible. He was even more furious when he learned I had paid for them separately . And he was even more livid when he realized my entire meal was inedible. So, I resorted to eating gram crackers with peanut butter... it was comforting after that complete atrocious mistreatment I had received by Gaeta's! Oh Gilroy ... how you have disappointed me yet again. Please tell me there are better Enchiladas and Chile rellenos and salsa out there, because they sure aren't at Gaeta's! read more

I discovered the restaurant is no longer owned by the Gaeta family.*** I've been coming here for years. Went in two days ago and the food was horrible and overpriced.. The caldo de res had tiny pieces of chopped beef, whole baby potatoes, chunks of carrots, absolutely no seasoning or flavor. My son ordered carne asada plate, big pieces of green peppers, meat was overcooked. Won't be coming here again. Sorry to discover the quality has declined drastically with the new owners. read more

This was our first time here and we will totally be back! Both the fresh homemade corn tortillas and flour tortillas were made to perfection. I had the shrimp with garlic and rice and beans and I will be thinking about this until the next time I come back to Gilroy. My coworker got the chili Verde and it was unlike any other chili Verde he had had before. It was delicious! Not too spicy and yet full of flavor. The how Mika is made in house and not too sweet. I'm not sure what happened over the past couple years to make things change so much. The burritos used to be $5.99 or $6.99 and now they're $8.99. So every time I would come I would get a chile Verde burrito and it would be a good size burrito full of meat only. But now they changed it and there was only about 5 pieces of meat and mostly beans in the burrito. Definitely not worth $8.99 for mostly beans. They changed The recipe on their beans and also the chile Verde. The chile Verde used to have a spicy kick to it and it doesn't anymore. It was still good, but was disappointed. read more
