    Charming Dining Room

The most delicious Caldo de res soup! Lots of fresh veggies with fall apart beef and homemade cloud soft corn tortillas. I have never had tortilla as delicious as these. The service is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is colorful and fun as usual.

NOT FOR WHITE PEOPLE! I ordered the verde cheese enchiladas with no warning on how incredibly spicy they would be. This was hands down the spiciest Mexican food I have ever had in my 30 years on this earth. Good luck to whoever dares try these. Tldr: food was good, I ate the whole thing but have regrets

Place is very cute inside, server was nice & food was yummy. We got the quesabirria tacos & enchiladas. It was nice they had a big screen TV to watch football on. We will definately come back again.

What a great taco spot! I stopped here after working up an appetite shopping at the nearby Gilroy outlets and I'm so glad I did! The interior has such a fun theme and is bright and colorful, as well as clean. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly employee who told me I could sit wherever I wanted. After about a minute, he came by with water and chips. He kept our drinks full for the entire meal, and remained friendly throughout every interaction. And then there's the actual food!! I can be pretty picky but this place knocked my socks off! I will 100% be making up a reason why I need to return to Gilroy so I can come back here.

Staff was amazing! The inside of the place couldn't have been more cute, the chairs were clearly handmade and painted which I was in love with. Food tasted amazing and had so much flavor. I can't wait to come here again

Let me tell ya it's a must visit and return visits. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. I've seen this place forever and have always been curious. They just expanded and decorated the restaurant so colorful. There were 3 of us in our party. We all left completely satisfied and bellies full. They even humored us and gave a sample of the Chile verde sauce. Amazing!!!! You must give them a try.. well worth it.

This was the best Mexican meal I've had in years. Bacon wrapped shrimp. Came with the standard rice and beans but a choice of salad or fries. I liked the onions and Ciliento coming as a side dish. The decor is what I would have expected in a restaurant in Mexico. Sturdy. The Mexican motif was carried off very well with lovely scenes on the chairs. I was the only gringo in the place - that means that the local Mexican people favor this restaurant. The source served with the chips had a nice bite, not too hot but not bland. The service was prompt and my server attentive.

    CLOSED FOREVER :-(

Closed forever , read the sign :-( Need to update Yelp and Google for this. So sad, wanted quesabirria 's today. :-( Hope they will re-open in another location!

    Medium horchata

Ordered from DoorDash, there was a 20% off deal which made me choose this place over other taquerias. This is my first time trying them and I am pretty impressed. I got the quesabirrias, tacos de pastor, and horchata. Quesabirrias: 4 quesabirrias, onions, lime, salsa, and a sizable side of consume. All for $14, which is significantly cheaper than other places. The flavor was good, the cheese was melty, the taco was crispy, it was everything I expect from a quesabirria. This is going to be my go to place when I am craving them. 5/5 Tacos de pastor: the flavor of the pastor is great. The tacos were the small street taco size, so in my opinion for $2.50 they are not as good of a deal. The salsa that came on top was good, but I wish it came with onions as well. Overall 4/5 Horchata: it's good, a tad bit grainy but it's still enjoyable. It was $3 for a medium, but the medium is huge! I've been charged $6 for an horchata of similar size elsewhere. This was a great deal and it definitely satisfied my horchata craving. 4.5/5

Excellent little Paraguayan snack bar!!…read more I saw this spot while scrolling thru Yelp's nearby function and curiosity of their yerba mate and empanadas brought me in. I was still feeling kind of sick but wanted something hot to drink so I ordered a mate latte with oat milk. I also had one of their beef empanadas to take away so I could eat it later. Mate latte was great and definitely would get this drink again. They also have a smoked mate drink and I would definitely come back to try this too! You have to like yerba mate to fully appreciate this drink. The mate latte is kind of a light version of what mate is like. Maybe start with this first to prepare you for traditional mate. If you get traditional mate, be prepared to have your mouth jolted and doing jumping jacks, its definitely stimulating and I love it! Later when I reached my destination, I ate the beef empanada with chimichurri sauce provided and it was delicious! After I polished it off, I had wished I brought a few more to take with me. But, at $9.50 a piece, they aren't cheap, so keep that in mind. They also have other Paraguayan/South American offerings here and I was so tempted to get a mini alfajor as it was eyeing me in the display case that said EAT ME (like Alice in Wonderland), but I did not give into this, but I so wish I did!! I will definitely come back here again and again when visiting Monterey! A true gem and next time, I have to check out their secret back garden too!

It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. Parking is disastrously busy so come here with patience- it'll be worth all the hassle. I promise!

They have a good variety of Peruvian empanadas and the place smelled really good. My boyfriend and I shared the Beef, Lomo Satado, and the Peach Blueberry! The flavors in both the Beef and Lomo was perfect with the seasoning and what was surprising is the Mango Chutney which made it even more tastier; it had a sweet but tangy profile. The peach and blueberry as a sweet treat was a perfect close out to our lunch.

You Guava be Kidding Me…read more A bakery and juicery that has been serving up delicious Colombian specialties since 1999 in Colombia, before emigrating to the US and opening up shop here in Cambrian Park in 2014. Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. Conclusion: We've been on the hunt for the best empanadas in the South Bay, and we finally found them.

I wanted to get some desert items but they seemed to have very few things to choose from. I would have asked questions but inside the store was strangely loud and the woman who helped me was a low talker so I couldn't understand anything she was saying to me as it was. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.

Just an excellent place to be!…read more A friend had heard rave reviews about their authentic Argentinian empanadas and we were so happy to come and try it out on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was busy (the lot is shared with Trader Joe's) but we managed to find a spot and head into the busy but not packed cafe. There is a large assortment of empanadas, from meat options like chorizo and chicken, to vegetarian like corn and onion, to sweet options too like apples. The menu also boasts lots of great drinks including mate tea! Lucky us, the empanadas we ordered weren't in stock so we had to wait ~10 for freshly baked ones. They came out buttery and piping hot, even with little hand-stamped letters on them so you know what you're eating, and it was so delicious. Most are about $5.50 each. Add oregano chimichurri for a bit extra if you want or pair with a tea, but these empanadas really hit the snacky spot. Lots of wooden tables with fresh flowers make Pampas a great space to chat with friends or to sit and do some work. The most standout feature was the friendly and efficient staff who seem to build connections with everybody who walks in the door. Worth a drive to Castro Valley!
