Do not take your car to this shop! My husband took my Mercury van there for bakes and oil change, and when we got it back it was making noise and shimmed very bad. We took it back and they did nothing! There was no oil in it so fixed that but not the shimmy. We just took it into a dealership to have it checked out and this is what they found. Rear tires require attention because of axle boot. Brakes lining in rear 2/3 Dm, brake system very poor. How can this be when Galaxy Automotive did the brakes? The alignment was also off which caused the wear of the back tires. Please do not let them touch your car or the will ruin it and it will cost your a lot in other repairs. Yesterday, my back tire got a flat, and I was stranded (I had about a mile left before I couldn't drive). The girls at the vet told me to go to Galaxy down the street. When I got there, the guy at the front said he had a lot of work ahead, and it would be a few hours. I must have looked like a true sad sack because he came back and said they would fix it first. After only about 30 minutes, they patched it up for $25. They were so kind and quick. My day had already been chaotic, so this was such a gift. I thought this would be a good teachable moment for my son to gain experience with mechanic/auto services. I provided advice to my son on what to ask and how to respond. I never thought I was sending my son into a high risk COVID situation. My son said the front desk did not wear mask, neither did the mechanics and there was one elderly customer in front of him who had no mask either... When he came home and told me, I couldn't believe it and then I was angry, then I jumped up and said lets disinfect... Many of the reviews suggest that Galaxy is filled with honest mechanics. Adrian and the boys must really be "giving it straight," no BS, here's the problem let's fix it. I'll concede the point. They are, therefore, the most incompetent group of mechanics I've come across--and because they are so close to my house, I've been here too many times out of convenience. Which vehicle of mine should I start with? Well, I owned a Honda Del Sol that, like another reviewer, experienced "radiator problems." Galaxy replaced one radiator, then recommended a second replacement, at full cost, before I took the car to another shop to have the real problem fixed--the water pump was having issues. Good job Galaxy, not honoring your 6 month, 3,000 mile warranty. Now I own an Acura Integra. I had Galaxy install a new engine in this car for the simple reason that they 1) gave the original engine a clean bill of health and 2) forgot to mention that there was a debilitating oil leak that ruined the engine in--yes I mean this--a ten mile drive. No warning from the oil light, no problems noted by Galaxy, but no drivey drivey. Same Integra: this NEW engine keeps overheating but is not leaking water. What is Galaxy's solution? New hoses "on top." I allow it, just to see if this fixes the issue, which is does (how, I don't know). They checked my bottom hoses, for a fee, and determined, IN WRITING, that those hoses did not need to be replaced. One month later a BOTTOM hose explodes. Replaced by Galaxy. Here I am 3 weeks later and a top hose has exploded. I'm an idiot for coming back to this place more than once. This is, conclusively, my last trip to Galaxy to get them to, hopefully, honor just ONE of their warranties. They are close and convenient for a car that limps due to their incompetence, which will, in turn, make a car that limps need their service again. I found a great place in Fullerton that quotes me prices half of Galaxy's, fixes my car in an hour, and does a good job. Driving a car with no water to Fullerton is, however, a tricky situation. read more

I told them about the problem but the front guy said that they couldn't hear the noise. I decided to get another opinion somewhere else and they said that the struts galaxy used were refurbished and not recommended at all. Now I have to replace them after 1 year. This is the only place I will take my car now to be fixed. These guys are the most honest mechanics in orange county. I brought my car in for an oil change, and when I went to go pick it up they told me there were a few things that needed attention. They told me my back brakes and back tires would need to be replaced, but they still had some life on them. I have never been to an auto shop that told you to come back later to fix things, usually they push you to fix everything right there on the spot. Their pricing is very reasonable and they offer very quick service. Just be sure to drop your car off first thing in the morning. This shop has a large following, so it is usually packed on the weekends. read more

This was my first time visiting so I can't be sure if today was just an off day or if they have overall poor customer service. I dropped my car off this morning for a battery fan cleaning and tire rotation/tire pressure check. The manager who was assisting me--Cesar--was short with me and was not wearing a mask. He told me he would call me when the car was ready. 4 hours later I called for a status update and they stated my car was already done. Okay, a bit annoying that they didn't call but whatever. Then I show up to pick up my car and Cesar gives me my keys. When I get to my car I find it now has a very dirty back seat and my tire pressure light on my dash is still on. I went back in and asked Cesar if my tire pressure was checked and he said no. I waited another 10 minutes for that to be completed when I could finally leave. I won't be returning any time soon due to the poor service experience along with their complete disregard for the pandemic- not a single employee Indoors was wearing a mask at any point. read more

Not a bad place. Took my car in for a diagnostic here after it broke down on me on my way to school... They checked it out and determined that my head gaskets were blown out, and that it would cost me around $860 to fix. I couldn't afford it so I told them I would try to get my car out of there as soon as I could. I ended up leaving my car there for almost TWO WEEKS because I was too busy with work and school to get it. Cool thing was, they didn't hassle me at all about it and didn't charge me a holding fee. This was a major relief and I was pleased that I only had to pay for the diagnostic. And they were also pretty patient when I called about a billion times to ask questions about my car. Very disappointed in their service. My fan was not turning on and my car was overheating, I took it in to have it looked at. They took 2 days to find the problem. They ended up fixing the fan but they ruined my electrical system in the process. Now my wind shield wipers don't work. When I took it back the next day. They said the wind shield wipers not working was caused by something else. They wouldn't even admit that it was their shitty work that caused my new problem. Now I have to pay someone else to fix it. Bring your car to Galaxy Automotive if you'd like to get completely ripped off, this shop is dishonest!!! I brought my car here after it over heated on my way to work. I live in south oc and work in north oc so I had to bring the car someplace close to work. Adrian ran a diagnostic and informed me that I need to replace the head gasket and other parts of my engine and that my car didn't pass his diagnostic test. This would run about 2 to 3k!! After having a complete emotional melt down and feeling like I was getting screwed I decided to pay for the car to be towed to our regular mechanic in south oc to get a second opinion. Paid the $120.00 tow fee and dropped my vehicle at MY AUTOWORX in RSM. AUTOWORX ran the diagnostic and my car passed!!!! Reason for the over heat and coolant leak...a punctured hose, cost of repair $120.00!!! Shame on you Galaxy!! Your business is shady and I want my $45.00 back. So glad I trusted my gut. read more

I came here when one of my brake calipers seized to have the caliper replaced. I basically drove my car in with my left rear brake constantly engaged. Needless to say I wasn't in the position to drive away, so I agreed to let them upsell me on a pair of calipers to keep the rear brake condition symmetrical. Waited the whole afternoon for parts, and when I picked my car up in the evening I nearly rolled out into the road pulling out of the shop. My brakes did not engage at all until I was about halfway down the travel of my brake pedal. I immediately backed up to the shop and told them to fix it. They told me that my brake pedal was normal and it was supposed to be that way. At this point i was angry and confused at the sheer absurdity of that answer because I have driven the car for 10 years and having someone who I just paid and messed my car up seriously tell me my brakes were fine was....I don't know, if I had a lead pipe or a weapon there is a possibility I would be in jail today. I pumped my brakes while my car was off and usually this results in the pedal stiffening up until there is no play. In this case my brake pedal still budged after doing so, so I thought they did poor brake bleed and introduced air into my brake lines. That turned out to be the problem, which was remedied by paying for the service elsewhere. While I was waiting I also witnessed a minivan that was in to have its power window controls in the door replaced. The mechanic was pretty much recklessly yanking panels off the door as I cringed looking at him "fix" the car. As someone who lived with a panel rattle for 6 out of the 10 years I drove the car I sent here for service due to the same kind of careless work I feel bad for whoever that minivan belonged to. I would advise anyone to stay away from this place at all costs unless it is for something that is external and cannot possibly mess your car up like a smog check or that kind of thing. read more

I was looking for an honest, affordable mechanic to replace my rear brakes (pads and rotors) and found Galaxy Automotive on Yelp. The local car dealer I'd gone to wanted to charge me $700 to replace them (don't think so). Luckily, I found Galaxy and they only charged me $291 (only $75 of which was labor). Horrible. They rip you off with a smile. I took my vehicle to get an estimate about how much it would cost to replace an ac hose. They said 900.i said I am not going to do it at this time. They charged me 50 just to tell me I had a hole in my ac hose. I go pick up my vehicle and the service light and stability control warning lights are on. They could not reset them and told me I had a new issue!!!!! Funny thing is my ac didn't work after I took it there for an oil change!! Nice way to keep customers coming back. read more

I have not been there in a while and took my car in to have it diagnosed and left it over night. I knew what was wrong with it, but since they WERE my mechanics I took it there to have them diagnose it. Well they called with a story stating I needed a whole new engine!!! They had it over night and never even took a diagnostics test on it they went by what I said and from there it is all down hill. Well the good news is all it needed was an oil change and its all done and fixed no more problems and don't need a new engine. So I give NO STARS FOR THIS PLACE!!!!! Had problems with my Jeep Cherokee and took it to Galaxy. They said I needed a new radiator. Mechanic thought he fixed the problem and so I had them install a new radiator. Then a month later it started to have problems again and I brought it back. They said the radiator needed to be replaced again. They put in a second radiator and said they thought they had fixed the problem this time around. Month later and I started having problems AGAIN. This time I took the car to a different mechanic. He discovered that a thermometer was broken and thus radiator wasn't getting any coolant. I had to put in a THIRD radiator and got the thermometer fixed. Now It's been 6 months and the new radiator has been fine. Looks to me like the galaxy guys didn't know what they were doing and it cost me over $1000 in the end read more

I heard a noise coming from my truck , so I took it down to get an oil change and for them to see what that noise was coming from. 3.5 hours later I was called and told my truck was ready. So I went to pick it up and as I walked up the front clerk was talking to one of the mechanics about another car and then the front clerk saw me and told the mechanic"and did you check the noise coming from this vehicle?". The mechanic said no he didn't check. The front clerk could tell I was upset that they did even check for the noise considering I'm a returning customer who just paid $700 of work with them previously.
