Very disappointed in the service. My 25 yr old daughter went here because she heard a rattling noise. She was told the heat shield needed to be removed. She was charged $100 and they did not even remove it. My local garage in Scituate MA said the people here put in screws that cost maybe 6 cents each and took a few mins. My garage charges $39 to remove a heat shield. Beware going to this Sunoco. read more

Just got my daughters car back from them. First time getting a car serviced her but read good things about the shop. Their level of detail and caring was amazing. I wanted her to handle the whole transaction so she can learn how to take care of her car on her own. Elie and Dion were incredibly professional and addressed all of her needs and concerns, which were not insignificant in a very professional manner. One of the parts was delayed getting there and Elie actually drove to the dealership to get it so she would have her car for the weekend, Memorial Day weekend. They did not try to take advantage of her in any way and went out of their way to make sure the car left the shop running perfectly, even comping a light. If you're looking for a place you can trust for repairs, this is the place. I brought in my '08 Acura RDX for a turbo replacement. From the research I've done, I knew the procedure would be expensive. Elie talked with me to figure out the most cost effective and beneficial solution. I ended up paying less than 1/3 of what I thought it was going to cost for the turbo replacement. Since I saved some money, I got my rear shocks replaced at the same time so I wouldn't feel every bump in the road. Elie hooked me up with a staff rate discount for Enterprise when I absolutely needed a car, he reimbursed my Uber's, and got the car professionally cleaned inside and out. I was shocked to see some of the negative reviews here, given that my experience from beginning to end was spectacular. While I love to do DIY services on my car, there are a lot of times when it doesn't make sense...like when your shoddy teamwork with a friend causes an annoying rattle and a lopsided muffler install. Though my service was brief (1 hour), I often find that the execution and presentation of it speaks a lot about the quality of service of any auto repair shop or dealer. It all started when I reached out to them on their Instagram and asked if I could drop by to adjust my exhaust hangers and Elie, the manager, responded promptly and let me know I could drop by before EOB. He also provided a fair starting price, especially given their extensive work on European cars and the possibility of breaking under-body components that have frozen and rusted away. The fact that they present so much of their work online and are active on social media already speaks a lot of how much they follow their customers and their needs. Once I got there, not only did he take the chance to ensure that the work was done right, he also kept me updated with what the team were doing and what problems they were facing during the repair. The team also took an opportunity to check over the rest of the car, which highlighted some brake wear concerns that I needed to look out for in the near future. Elie invited me look under the car with him, which he was not obligated do, but I strongly appreciated for my ease of mind and assurance that the work was being done carefully and correctly. It's not like the shelf filled with Liqui-Moly products didn't allude to that already. In talking about my future brake service needs, he confirmed with me that he was willing to meet my preference for certain aftermarket brake brand for an estimate, which is a stark contrast to any other shop I've interacted. This is great because on the Infiniti G Sedan, sometimes an aftermarket part can be considered an upgrade compared to OEM. Overall, my exhaust problem seems to be fixed permanently and even more, the mysterious but prominent rattle seems to have been found and fixed after 2 failed warranty services from Infiniti (though they did end up fixing other parts of my rattle trap instead anyway). I'll have to wait until the morning to find out if it has been fixed for sure, but for now, I feel great. I can definitely see myself coming back here when I need to! Great service, fair labor rates, and overall, excellent follow up. For those who really care about their baby (mine needs quite a lot of TLC when winter ends), you can trust Galen St. Sunoco! read more

I bring my 2012 Audi here for everything. I'm pretty obsessive about my car and they get it. Elie will answer all my silly questions and humor me when I'm being anal about the smallest of details. Thanks to the crew here my car is cleaner than ever and runs and drives like a dream. They've taken such great care of me and my car. I would never go anywhere else. If you have a car you care about bring it here to save thousands of dollars compared to what dealerships charges. If they suggest something - you need it, if you don't need it they'll recommend holding off. There's nothing shady going on here. This Sunoco is a part of a collection of 10-12 gas stations under the same ownership group all around the greater Boston area making sure you're safe and happy. I took my 2006 GTO to them to get headers, wheels, and tires done. easy enough right... In my initial discussion with Eli I told him I'd send over some wheels I wanted on the car, and that I had not done any fitment research. The car was running 17's at the time and I told him that I wanted 18's, but that if they didn't fit to just order me 17's because I didn't want to deal with any fitment issues. I made no mention at any point of rolling fenders on the car to fit 18's. When the day came to pick up the car Eli gave me a call a few hours before and said that there had been a slight issue, the wheels and tires he ordered didn't quite fit, and he had to roll my fenders to get them to fit. Cracking up the paint on both sides to do so... He said that his body shop could take care of that for me for free later and not to worry about it. When I picked up the car I was still pleased, everything looked great besides the fenders but he had said he would take care of that... oh and the temperature sensor didn't work anymore... but no big deal.....he told me I could just check the temp of the car with a code reader.......... After driving the car for a day I realized it was rubbing on absolutely every bump chewing up the rear tires which were 310 a piece... it was undrivable. while driving the car back to the shop to get the fitment issues fixed it started revving itself up past 3k after shutting the car off it wouldn't start back up for several minutes, eventually I got it to start and limped it back to the shop. After the car being there for a couple days Eli told me he thought I had a bad MAF sensor, that it looked really old and dusty and was probably the original. They replaced that at cost (around $400 for a OEM MAF) . I would later confirm with the previous owner of the car that he replaced the MAF right before he sold me the car so basically that was just a shot in the dark. He rolled the fenders out, cracking them more and said he wouldn't replace my rear tires that were chewed up because they were "still safe". After driving the car for a day after picking it up the issue persisted, Eli and his techs insisted the car just needed a tune. After reaching out to local LS tuners they assured me that that wasn't the case and whoever was telling me that had no idea what they were talking about. I went back one more time to Galen St and they smoke tested the car for free, said they found no leaks, told me again they thought it just needed a tune and sent me on my way. After a couple weeks of going through the car and posting on forums, I eventually realized they cracked my coolant temperature sensor on install of the headers... you'd think any shop worth their weight would notice something like that right away. After contacting Eli about it he told me he would reimburse me for replacing the part myself. I replied that it was a $20 part and was no big deal but that he should fix the fenders on my GTO like he said he would. He replied with some sort of non committal response about how they would help me out with something in the future. Haven't taken vehicles to him since. When I went to get a quote from another auto body shop to get the fenders fixed, initially they asked if I had done them myself, when I said no the owner called all his employees out to look at the car, they all said it was one of the worst fender rolling jobs they had ever seen and it looked like somebody had used a pipe or a baseball bat... I didn't really have any intentions of writing a review like this until my buddy took his M3 to Galen St recently, despite my warnings not to. They did a header install... his car isn't running right, and they're telling him it just needs a tune... Had more written but wouldn't fit, they also backed my tundra into their service door and drained the oil on one of my cars without refilling it when I didn't even ask for an oil change!!! read more

Went in for a inspection sticker and short guy comes out and tells me that my rear brakes are low and need to be replaced and my wipes are gone but he'll over look the rear brakes if I buy wipers from him..... lol. Trying to shake me down for wipers! I asked him how much and he says $25 and $30. Long story short..... I didn't buy his wipers and I got my sticker! read more

Wow! Am I happy I found this place! My alternator died unexpectedly yesterday (while in the middle of Boston traffic), and after looking for places relatively close to where my car had been towed, I gave Galen Street Sunoco a call. Everyone I spoke to was super professional and helpful. They quoted a reasonable price over the phone, and while they could not promise the work would be done in the same day, said they would try and do their best. 4 hours later I had my fully functioning car back! Along the way I got calls from Elie about some minor other things that had been found and asking if I wanted them to fix them while they were in there and briefing me on the overall condition of my car when it was ready. He also happily and knowledgably answered questions I had. I could not be more pleased. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

If you get lost near where Nonantum Road exits onto Galen Street in Newton Corner, don't ask for directions here. Having missed my exit on Storrow a few miles back, I stopped at this Sunoco in hopes that one of the employees could direct me to the part of Brighton that borders Newton. I was already late for a long run with a friend and mad at myself for having gotten lost yet Again on Storrow Drive. For reference: it took me no less than four trips home from Logan Airport to finally figure out how to take Storrow to the Mass Ave exit. Finding no one in the customer service area, I pleaded with a few customers outside: "can you tell me how to get to Brighton from here?" It's as if I was invisible--not a hint of acknowledgement. Little did I know that one of those "customers" was an attendant. I poked my head into the repair area and asked "can you help me with directions?" One of the guys in there responded, "it's the second door on the right." Okay, not helpful. "Directions" is not "restroom." Thank god I didn't have to pee--he'd have probably sent me to Brighton. Or maybe I should have needed to pee... I went back outside and took out my Boston-area street map to try to figure it out myself. As I flipped pages looking for Galen St (map 6785 in the Rand McNally book if you are so inclined), the nonresponsive "customer" from before rapped on my window and barked "please give some space!" How about you please give me some directions so I don't have to be *in* your space? Okay. I moved my car up from its spot in front of the customer service area a bit and picked up the map again only to get barked at once more. I drove off still not knowing where to go, hoping to backtrack my way down Nonantum Road/Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive. To put the icing on what is the metaphorical antithesis of a Green Street Grill strawberry & basil poundcake, I got in a car accident right where Nonantum Road intersects Galen St about two minutes later. read more

Superb customer satisfaction!! I hit one of those ubiquitous I 90 pot holes and exited to Galen Sunoco during a snow storm. It was late at night and attendant pointed out a secure parking place, offered to get us an Uber, and assured us staff would handle to our satisfaction in the morning. I went in for an oil change one day and was told I need a new tire rod, calipur and an alignment. Seeing as my tire was about to come off my vehicle and my 2 year old in tow, I decided "go ahead!" After 2 hours schlepping my kid around, my car was ready; I see the invoice and sure enough the above items were listed - I pay and leave - as I'm driving, I notice my steering wheel is turned 45 degrees to the left in order for me to keep straight. I come to find out (by going to another mechanic who once worked there) that Sunoco doesn't even have an alignment machine?! How is a business still around when they charge for a service that was never even done??? In order to save face, they offered to take my car to another shop and do the alignment at no additional charge (gee thanks!). Never, ever would I go back to these people - dishonest wouldn't begin to describe them! read more

I've been coming here for years. The mechanics here are really good and they definitely know what they're doing. You'll definitely feel safe leaving your car here. They are also very familiar with foreign cars. This place was recommended by a friend of mine, at at first you see these only 2 bad reviews on the first page for directions or flat tire on a Sunday ...... really grow a pair. The place is really easy to find right off Mass Pike. I'm really happy with the service provided and the way my car is being taken care of. I'd not go anywhere else, but here. I trust them and I feel secure and safe knowing that my car is being fixed here when necessary and when it does require regular maintenance. I highly recommend taking your car here for every & anything. I needed a whole engine placed in my Bumblebee for the second time as well as some extra TLC under the hood. The owner Eli was a blessing to me. He took care of most of the labor costs, he gave me so much free stuff & not just like a sticker or an air freshener...LOL Things that my car actually needed like a new battery for my key F.O.B, windshield wipers, an alignment, I could keep going, but I'm sure you get it. Eli kept me posted every step of the way. I was looking @ a $4,000 car bill & I didn't pay anything near that. Best of all I was in my Bumblebee within a week. 3 different occasions for service and all were great. Only once it was almost perfect and they checked again and fixed it. They have a new Mechanic now and he did a great job. After looking at diagnostics of the vehicle they determined some spark plugs needed replacing, if the job is to complex they will deter you to the dealer. Recommended. read more

Got a flat tire and pulled into this gas station on a sunday Attendants are apparently not allowed to help customers do anything other than pump gas. So these 2 twenty something attendants stood there smoking cigarettes and watched an old man change a tire. After I had the car up on the jack one of the came over and asked me to move it farther away from the pumps. I wasn't blocking anything and there were exactly 0 cars in line for gas! Stupid policies and stupid management go elsewhere for gas, service and directions. read more

These guys were great. They really helped me out. I was driving back to Watertown from Providence and decided to get my car checked out because it was doing this weird jerky thing. It turned out there was a lot going on with the car. We went for a test drive on the Mass Pike so the mechanic could feel and hear the problem, and then they did some good work on it. I don't remember exactly what they did, but I showed my dad the receipt - he used to be a mechanic - half expecting him to tell me I had been ripped off, because he has a very 1970s idea of what things should cost, and he seemed satisfied with what I paid and the work I had done. I got a flat tire coming down Galen street over the bridge and I happened to pull into this station- they got the spare on in ten minutes even though they were just about to close and by the next morning I came back and my new tire had already been delivered and was ready to put on. Had my car towed here FROM another garage (i.e. see my review of Oak Square Sunoco). It was on Black friday and I had no appointment. Joe took care of me as if I was a long time customer. The rest of his guys were just as helpful in making sure all went smooth. I will definately have all of my work done here from now on...no question that the work will be honest and fair priced. Now for those who have rated these guys with one star, i understand everyone is entitled to share their opinion. However, not changing a tire on a day that your employer has instructed you not to do any labor, is most likely due to insurance or OSHA regulations. As for 'driving directions', I have found that most people in the city simply suck at giving them, It's Boston for frigg sakes! I would emplore that if the time ever came that you were in desperate need of an A+ mechanic/service team, you would probably change your rating. Thanks Guys! read more

I don't know how there are so many 5 star reviews here. Maybe some of their other departments are fine but don't ever come here for an inspection! I came in at the tail end of August and wish I had read the other reviewers on here. I had expected to be dinged for the fact that my left rear blinker light was out and that's it and they would fix that (usually 12 bucks), but nope they didn't catch that in the inspection. Instead the man there said my wipers were streaking on the windshield and that I needed new ones or I would get a rejection sticker. I asked him how much and he said 20, so I said okay not horrible I'll pay 20 for wipers to avoid the inspection sticker. He makes the change and gives me the bill and it was 20 dollars EACH. He wouldn't take them off so I paid the 40 plus the 35 for the inspection and had my light changed out at a meineke the next day when I went to have my oil done so I wouldn't have to give them any more business. Both the mechanic and manager were extremely customer service focused and made me feel completely cared for. I completely disagree with the last review. I use to live in watertown and when i resided there this was my number one service garage. As you can see i reviewed the mobil because that is the area i currently reside in. Well back on the subject of galen street sunoco. The guys here are fantastic. The manager can make you laugh for hours but at the same time he is very down to earth and honest about repairs. I think maybe when someone in the service center said " down the hall to the right" or whatever it could have been a joke before they gave you directions. Also common sense no one likes when you block there service bays. I mean its a busy shop and not to side with the sunoco but they need to get cars in and out in a timely manner. Also i mean directions its not like people at garages have GPS written on their forhead. I mean you cant help that they couldnt give you directions. At the same time though i am very surprised at the attitude you claim they had this is very unlike them. read more
