Very nice coffee place, friendly staff. Good variety of savory and sweet foods. I ordered the potato and sausage/egg wrap and a latte. The wrap was decently sized and had a sausage/ cheese potato inside and served with some salsa anna sour cream. Was very hearty and fulfilling. The latte was served with a nice dairy heart design in the foam. The interior was clean and cozy, large enough for many customers and had a nice patio. If you're in the area definitely visit to have a cup of Joe and a bite to eat! read more

I miss my flat white and the latte from Gallagher's is very close to it. The coffee is robust and a bit too strong but it is still smooth and I can have it without adding any sugar. They do take their time to make the coffee (I was the only order then and it still took a while) but I guess the wait is worth it. The glazed lemon loaf is equally good with lemon rinds in it, giving a texture and bite to it. read more

If it wasn't for the fact that it's one of a few places in PoMo that you can sit and work and drink coffee (outside of Starbucks) or have a pint (Yes! They're licensed) they'd be getting 2 stars. I've been here a few times and it's always the same. Coffee, or this past time's rooibos iced tea with a shot of strawberry syrup (which was good - if not a little too sweet), is always standard. But they use JJ Bean, which is a bean I like. It's the service that lacks. Same 'ol story - waiting, waiting, waiting to be acknowledged. And then feeling like I've interrupted what they're working on. I hate to admit it, but the staff at the Starbucks around the corner is much friendlier. But I'll continue to spend my cash here because they're, at the very least, more of a local choice. read more

Well Gallaghers it's just a cryin' shame. Such a nice spot, spacious, dog-friendly outdoor patio, cute interior, friendly, helpful counter peeps but I'm so sorry to report that the coffee is just nasty. Salt Spring coffee is just terrible. Their tendency toward over roasting results in a bitter, burnt taste. As much as I appreciate their local spirit and what they are now doing in Honduras, I have not yet had a palatable cup :( I'll probably be a customer again to Gallaghers, but next time, I'll try the Chai. They made a poor choice dropping JJ bean coffee, because it's a better tasting product. read more

Gallagher's is my wonderful neighbourhood coffee joint. It is a family owned & operated independent coffee shop and you will often find Brian Gallagher making the beverages on any given morning. I love that they use high quality beans and offer not only soy (not my favourite) but also almond milk in lieu of dairy. They have an excellent assortment of gluten free baked goods and some lovely snack bars/treats that are quite reasonably priced. It's true that some of the hot food is a bit pricey, but I am willing to spend the dough for the personalized, friendly service and because I know I'm supporting a local, community minded business. read more

My favorite spot in the area to grab an Americano before or after work. Quick and friendly - funny that other reviewers had long wait times because I've never experienced it. The drinks are priced well, and the coffee is the tastiest in the hood. More robust than Starbucks, and less acidic than JJ. Nice and busy. I ordered today's specialty cinnamon dolce latte. It was nice and creamy, i also had their soup and sandwich. The Santa Fe Tortilla soup had a great flavor, but no tortilla chips and it was cold. The turkey on cranberry bread was grilled and serve with an orange wedge, very pretty. My boyfriend had the same coffee with apple pie and banana loaf. The banana loaf was really good and moist. Overall the food and drinks were ok, but nothing out of this world. I do give them kudos for their nice patio and the doggy treats, my dog sure enjoyed his. Great service and we will definitely go back. read more

It is a nice little coffee shop on a corner in a quaint neighbourhood. They use JJ Beans for their coffee drinks - or will sell you the beans. They know what they are doing behind an espresso machine - which I had previously found frequently lacking with JJ resellers. Cute, nice waitresses, service way too slow. Prices are insane - except for beer oddly. I never see anyone drinking there - I guess it is weird to drink in a super bright , commercial coffee house with small children running around. I did drink there once because they had buckets on sale - here is how that went... - "what kind of beer is on special?" -"ummm I am not sure? All of them?!" -"really?" -"I guess" -"how many beers do you get in a bucket?" -"ummmm .... I dunno....6?" -"so you are telling me I can have 6 Corona's or G.I. P.A's for $11.00?" -"ummmm yes? Warning: if you are on any kind of time limit, don't bother with this place. Oh, dear. I wish I could give this place more stars, because the actual menu items are delicious, if a touch pricey at times. It's the service I have a big issue with. SLOW. And not very enthusiastic. In echoing Crystal H....you really do get the impression you're interrupting the staff by being there and requiring their service. I was frequenting Gallagher's a lot while attending a four-month long course in Newport Village. I relied on this place for getting a decent hot bowl of soup on my lunch break from class because other eateries in the area were actual restaurants/pubs and I didn't have enough time to go to those places. Having worked in a cafe very much like Gallagher's I know that rushes can be overwhelming and of course there can be a bit of a wait at times. but there is also a little skill called....MULTITASKING. Yes, that's right - if you have an order for 2 lattes - you can make the espresso for both at the same time. Steam the milk for both in the same jug.....Multiple sandwiches? Line 'em up, Subway style, and put the blessed things on the grill together. And for goodness sake, please acknowledge the person waiting for you to take their order as you finish up with the previous transaction. It won't kill you, I promise. read more

Their food is pretty good (considering it is a cafe) and so is their coffee. It is one of the very rare places in Port Moody that is not Starbucks and is a cafe. (otherwise it would be 2-star) But boy is their food overpriced. Their coffee is OK I guess, but their food is just... Be patient, meal orders take time to prepare and if people are in front of you get ready for long wait times. On a very positive note, they carry the best damn coffee around, JJ Bean coffee. There was an article in the December 2nd edition of Vancity Buzz about coffee shops close the Evergreen Line. Now that there is a line that makes it easier to go to Coquitlam this foodie can expand outside the Vancouver and Burnaby area. Just a heads up that it's not as close to the Skytrain line as the article in Vancity Buzz made this out to be. It was approx still a 13 minute walk and depending on your starting location Google and mapquest aren't 100% up to date with the new Everygreen Line, therefore, it's best to call Translink directly, however, coming from Burnaby it was still 1 hour to get here, therefore, I made this a grab and go situation. I had a basic latte which was amazing. Prices were great and the customer service was awesome. There is some sitting room inside, however, as mentioned, given the distance and how far it is to walk (especially on a cold day), I made this a to go situation. read more

Good place in the summer when you can sit outside but DO NOT; REPEAT: DO NOT plan on sitting inside for something like a coffee meeting. It can get so noisy that you won't be able to hear what the other person is saying. The new owners are very stewpid and have either the tv or music cranked up way too high. Plus it can get very crowded which also adds to the noise volume as everyone is speaking loud in order to be heard over the din. Vancouver Mist is pretty good and the Lemon Bar is quite regular, but I like lemon bars so I can't complain. What I do really like about this place is how the place is set up with its bar on the side with stools. And the employees are nice :) read more

My grandmother,used and my two little girls came into Gallagers Monday mornin around 11am. I bought a peach smoothie and asked if it could be split into 2 cups for my girls to share. The owner made up the smoothies and we paid and left. After my 2 year old finished her smoothie, my 4 year old was complaining of "sharp pieces" in her throat from the smoothie. I asked her to show me if she got another one in her mouth from the straw. She did, and it was a tiny jagged (think shards) piece of hard plastic. I immediately took both (near empty) cups and found a pile of micro-sharp shards of plastic at the bottom of both cups! We brought them back to show the owner and he apologized a few times and left us in an akward silence. We left, totally upset about it and I walked back in and waited in a long line of patrons as he continued serving blended drink after blended drink. Finally when my turn in line was up, I asked for a refund. The owner didn't even make eye contact with me and asked the cash attendant to refund my money. I pray my little girls intestines and stomach aren't perforated & punctured from the sharp pieces they swallowed. I will never give Gallaghers another cent!! You have to go outside of the Vancouver limits to find a coffee shop that will provide you with atmosphere and entertainment that doesn't annoy you. Gallaghers has gone on a limb to provide their customers with unique coffee house entertainment. Whereas most places will allow any grunge music hangover with a guitar to play much to the repulsiveness of the crowd, Gallaghers has decided to scout real talent and bring to the people of New Port Village something to return for. They have stand up comedy on changing nights and they have the occasional jazz musician who actually plays the kind of jazz that you don't have to think about to enjoy. Also, don't forget that they're a coffee shop. They have the best tasting coffee for some reason. I love their ice coffees. Their dark roast coffees are made from a rich bean. They serve paninis and make fresh sandwiches daily. It's a small shop but there are plenty of tables and I've never had to stand or leave due to them not having a place to rest and enjoy my cafecito! read more

The fact that you can have a beer or cider here really gets me. It seems so at odds with a small, bright coffee shop! We enjoyed the above on the sunny patio the other day. I don't usually get coffee here as I drink soy milk, and don't really like the soy latte here (as with most small cafe's, unfortunately :( ). They usually have an assortment of baked goods, the gluten-free banana chocolate chip muffin is amazing. They have food as well (wraps, sandwhiches...) but I find the prices CRAZY high so sadly have never tried anything though many sound good. We keep meaning to go when they have something going on (music, comedy, film viewings I think?) but haven't been that organized yet. read more

Still the best coffee in Port Moody... only narrowly beating out Caffe Divano in my books. In a nutshell, Gallagher's coffee has slightly better flavour... fuller, a bit richer on the nutty, chocolatey side of the coffee spectrum. Divano's leans more to the Red Winey side. Can't go wrong with either, though. Drink at either and you'll release how little flavour Starbucks has. read more

Recently stumbled onto this great little place. Locally owned and operated. Even the milk is delivered daily from local farm. The owner was very excited about his recent switch to new beans (Bean Around the World) and gave me and my friend samples of the different roasts; light, medium and dark. I usually go for dark but was surprised at how much I tooked to the lighter roasts and ended up ordering the light. And the sandwiches are made to order in front of you with fresh toppings rather than the prepackaged stuff. I'm so glad I didn't just stray into another Starbucks. read more

This place has a good vibe, on open mic nights you'll have to go there to watch the show, don't go there to hang with friends because you can't hear each other talk. The coffee is good and so is the food. Some meals come with a tall coffee but the baristas never tell you that. Make sure you check with them or you won't get it! I like the variety of drinks they have and it's cool they serve beer too. Great place on a sunny day as there is a lot of seating inside but not a lot if room inside! read more

I had an Italian soda here and it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like straight up tonic water with a shot of milk. No flavor at all. I took two sips but then had to throw it away. Total waste of $4.25, which is extremely overpriced anyway for an Italian soda. If you're going to charge that, at least know how to make the drink. Was craving something cool and delicious but I should have just gone to Starbucks. read more

I live in Newport Village and this coffie shop is just few steps from me.Their coffee is not bad but this morning -not first time I ordered a veggie sandwich with side salad to go.Later when I opened the paper box it was a few leaf thrown in just lake that beside the sandwich. I think that a few green leaf should not be called salad. The sandwich was made very poorly-veggie sandwich with one tini slice of tomato and one green leaf. All this costs over $9.00.I will never return again to this coffee shop. read more

There are not a lot of independent cafes in Port Moody but this one is my favourite. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious. The staff is friendly and genuine. The floors are natural wood. Best of all the owner is very hands on and is often seen actually working. The coffee is great and the food, although prepared off site is good as well. You can usually find a Vancouver Sun to read and the Province. Would be nice if they had the Globe and Mail as well. They also serve beer and wine. I suppose the place could be improved with wine shelving on the wall under the TV, but that is a small criticism. read more
