Syrup for your drinks

I miss my flat white and the latte from Gallagher's is very close to it. The coffee is robust and a bit too strong but it is still smooth and I can have it without adding any sugar. They do take their time to make the coffee (I was the only order then and it still took a while) but I guess the wait is worth it. The glazed lemon loaf is equally good with lemon rinds in it, giving a texture and bite to it.

Ordered the salmon lox bagel, came with lots of capers and a side of apple slices. Decent bagel, but a bit on the expensive side.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's one of a few places in PoMo that you can sit and work and drink coffee (outside of Starbucks) or have a pint (Yes! They're licensed) they'd be getting 2 stars. I've been here a few times and it's always the same. Coffee, or this past time's rooibos iced tea with a shot of strawberry syrup (which was good - if not a little too sweet), is always standard. But they use JJ Bean, which is a bean I like. It's the service that lacks. Same 'ol story - waiting, waiting, waiting to be acknowledged. And then feeling like I've interrupted what they're working on. I hate to admit it, but the staff at the Starbucks around the corner is much friendlier. But I'll continue to spend my cash here because they're, at the very least, more of a local choice.

Well Gallaghers it's just a cryin' shame. Such a nice spot, spacious, dog-friendly outdoor patio, cute interior, friendly, helpful counter peeps but I'm so sorry to report that the coffee is just nasty. Salt Spring coffee is just terrible. Their tendency toward over roasting results in a bitter, burnt taste. As much as I appreciate their local spirit and what they are now doing in Honduras, I have not yet had a palatable cup :( I'll probably be a customer again to Gallaghers, but next time, I'll try the Chai. They made a poor choice dropping JJ bean coffee, because it's a better tasting product.

Place has good Coffee and other goodies (sandwiches, cookies, etc), but a little on the pricey side in my honest opinion.

Good coffee, nice staff, live music on occasion, but food overpriced for the quality and amount you get.

Vancouver Mist is pretty good and the Lemon Bar is quite regular, but I like lemon bars so I can't complain.

This place was so cool and so beautifully designed! It was absolutely calming to be there…read more Tried the seasonal drinks and pastry and it did not disappoint. It was a tad bit expensive but I would say these are quality pastries and very unique. The staff were super friendly.

I visited Nemesis Coquitlam to get some pastries…read more What I got: Pull apart - croissant dough filled with chives and cream cheese, Pesto mozzarella swirl -Pesto and mozzarella cheese, Ferrero rocher danish - Hazelnut praline, chocolate mousse, vanilla custard Pistachio loaf - pistachio ganache and raspberries. Pull apart was lighter than I expected. Other place's pull apart was so buttery, cheesy, however, this one was flaky and buttery, so, if you prefer light texture pull apart, you will like it. Cream cheese filling was nice accent. Pistachio loaf was more dense than I expected. It had pistachio whipped cream on top, so, cream helped loaf texture more smooth. Loaf had strong pistachio flavor. I liked whipped cream and loaf combination. Pesto and mozzalera swirl was a bit too salty for me. Dough was super flaky and buttery, I liked the dough texture so much, but filling could be more minder. Unfortunately, I did not have ferrero rocher danish. I heard that this one was the best. Mousse was so delicious and dough was very flaky and buttery. Overall, I think their pastries are always outstanding and good quality. The place was extremely busy and could not get a table. Next time, I wish I could dine-in.

We were in the area, and we decided to give this Persian cafe a try. Inside, it felt like a lounge…read more There was music in the background and the place was dimly lit. We were seated right away. We ordered a pistachio latte, apple crisp macchiato and Turkish coffee. We asked for the first two drinks to go and Turkish coffee in house. Unfortunately, our barista made all the drinks to go. We did not get to enjoy the Turkish coffee in a nicer presentation. Also, we kind of expected a sugary treat to accompany the Turkish coffee and there was nothing. Maybe because I am used to other cafes just automatically offering a Turkish delight or something? There was a cup of water to wash down the bitter coffee. Overall, I think their food is probably a better option than their drinks. My pistachio latte was alright. I could taste a hint of the pistachio. Service was alright. We received our drinks fairly quickly.

Had to make an "emergency" stop here to work as my area was experiencing a power outage…read more Brisk Cafe is a spacious western styled cafe. I was intrigued why they did not have an Iranian theme with some ethnic uniqueness to it. Perhaps this is more palatable to the general public. They serve cafe style offerings with some breakfast items, sandwiches and pastries. The owner relayed to me all coffees and teas they serve are organic!! She would also like to expand their menu to include a liquor license. So we shall see what happens then. Coffee is good. Pastries were okay. Pricing is slightly above average. Okay environment to work in if you don't mind the Mediterranean guitar music playing full-blast. Overall, their chairs are more comfortable than usual coffee joints in the hood. May return in future if work with RELAXING music is in the stars.
