My favorite season has arrive Vancouver Croissant festival! I visited WAVE's COFFEE . What I got: Chocolate Crookie Buttery croissant dough baked with rich chocolate chip cookie dough inside and on top. Crispy on the outside, soft and gooey in the middle, and finished with a dusting of icing sugar and cocoa. Cookie dough was gooey and nicely sweet. It was good. Croissant dough was a bit soggy and require more refinement. Service at Edmonds location was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

This place is close by to where I live and I've been here quite a number of times already. Surprised to see that I havn't yet reviewed it and that this is my first review of the place! I came here with a friend. She ordered a Coco Berry Matcha, and I had my "go to" favourite drink at any Waves Coffee house which is the Rooibos Frappe, made with yogurt. The Coco Berry Matcha is the Waves version of the what appears to be a somewhat viral drink right now. Basically, lots of places seem to be offering some kind of Match drink with a white layer and a red layer made from strawberries, or raspberries or maybe just red berries in general. My friend said her drink was not very good. The berry part of it was like jam. Huh? Jam in a drink? Weird! My Rooibos Frappe was awesome as usual. They usually give you the option of having it made with ice cream or yogurt. I have always found it to be tastier with the yogurt option so now I don't even wait for them to ask me how I'd like it done. I just tell them right away that I'd like it made with yogurt. Super unimpressed with my friend's report on the Coco Berry Matcha but since I've had multiple experiences at this shop before and they have generally all been good, I am still giving them a good rating for this first review. read more

Coffee shop at the corner of Kingsway and Edmonds. This is one of the larger locations out there. Parking is available on the side streets. The building is quite new, and the inside is quite modern. There is a raised circular area in the corner that I assume can double as a stage. Also there are some tables outside. There's also a wall showcasing the inspiration for the name of the chain. Had no idea that the name is inspired by a photo of Muhammad Ali waving while he stepped off a plaine. I always thought it referred to the ocean. Learned something new. Staff are friendly and quick. Traveled from Florida - I have been to as many coffee shops in the last week as I could fit in this was by far the best! I'm a new fan of Waves Coffee because I've gotten to know the environment and one of the managers at the Edmonds location. I go there for coffee often now because it's convenient for myself and customers at Edmonds and Kingsway. They have many options similar to Starbucks and the prices are comparable. The service is a little bit different because at this location the manager is there pretty much 7 days a week and I've gotten to know Vince pretty well. He's a good guy and really cares about his business and his customers. Most importantly, the environment is pretty good, with a lounge and leather seats and a widescreen plasma TV, and there's the main area with regular wooden tables plus a nice patio outside with an open area near a small water fountain beside the Burnaby Public Library. And the coffee simply rocks! read more

Large, bright, clean. There are tables, more intimate seating with armchairs near the TV and an outdoor seating area. The staff are really nice. All of our drinks were made well and quickly - latte, cappucino, rooibos tea latte. One star off because although there was a good variety of snacks, they were just "ok". read more

I'll admit that I don't usually go to Waves as I'm not as familiar with their menu as I am with Starbucks'. What I do like is that your food and drink is served on real tableware (i.e. not disposable) if you're eating in. They also have a nice selection of loose leaf teas. The service is good. My mocha had rosetta latte art on it and, more importantly, was very tasty. The dining area has an open feel with lots of windows and seating. I've spent a tremendous amount of time here, both early in the morning and late at night, with little in between. Rarely is it so busy that you'll struggle for a seat - at least when I went to hang out there - and the staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I'd say of the 100 or so times I've been here, at least one staff member recognizes me, and either starts up a conversation or knows what I want prior to ordering. The only downfall, for me, is that they close so early. If they were open later, I'd practically live here when writing on deadline. Pluses: close to Edmonds Skytrain, beautiful courtyard and waterfall right out front, next to the library and a great Thai food place, lots of seating, free unlimited WiFi, great tea options, kid-friendly. read more

I recently had to re-locate my coffee shop addiction and drove by this Waves Cafe and had a double espresso machiatto to go, actually my gf ran in and got us coffees for the road...upon trying it I said" are you sure you got this at Waves??" I mean this was ridiculously good...now most people will say, yeah but what do You know about coffee! Well nothing actually other then that I have bought every espresso machine out there, from commercial units single group to the worst ones on ebay...I settled for Nespresso and only buy special editions (if you can find them...) for my afternoon espresso...I have had espresso at Cafe de Flore in St Germaine, at Cafe Florian in the piazza in Venice, Kafe Rischart in Munich in Brasil, Costa Rica and one of my favorites: Sydney Australia....yes Ozzi Cafés rock!! Needless to say I ventured in here to be greeted by a friendly Napolitan owner (Vinzenzo) who actually respects the art of espresso as was evident in our conversation. He takes great pride in delivering the exact amount of espresso grind to the portafilter and tapping the coffee seemed like a dance of some sort but voila...great shot of espresso and a great personality... So...yes its a franchise but man what a find...want good coffee come here and leave your judgements at the door...Love it!! A new neighborhood coffee house. Offering great service, open from early morning to late night, and of course free WiFi. It's become my neighborhood fave! The only downside to this location is the parking - it's at the corner of Kingsway and Edmonds, and you'll need to find parking elsewhere. read more

I love this waves location!! Im a dark roast regular brewed coffee type girl but the place makes really good lattes. Big location, lots of seating, free wifi, and some outside seating more in the summer. Weekend and nights can get busy with college students studying but it's a good place to go to for coffee with a friend or just a grab and go. read more

I quite like this location of the waves coffee chain as it provides a great atmosphere to either read a book, have a quick lunch or invite someone for a meeting. The free wifi is a great bonus and is easy to connect too, they always have a large offering of sandwiches at lunchtime and are very friendly! Waves just introduced a new line of wraps and they are so far quite tasty!! I tried the Mediterranean veggie rice wrap and was very very happy with it!! Waves coffee is fine, though overpriced for what you get. But I went to this location, to grab a coffee and a snack. Chose a cookie, clearly marked with it's label/price for $1.75. Staff rings it up and is charging $2.95 for a cookie. I said, why is the cookie that price, it's marked $1.75. So he looks at the price and says, oh yeah that's wrong, we forgot to change it. Do you still want it? I was hungry so said fine, whatever, but the point is, you can't advertise the product at one price then charge more. He says "yeah" and then just charges more... It was a buck, so I just got it, but that's pretty poor customer service, they should have charged the price on their sign, then changed it moving forward. Their staff incompetence shouldn't cost the customer more. Will just go up the block to McDonalds when I'm around there from now on. read more

The manager here or owner caters to his customers extremely well. He is also very knowledgeable about coffee in general. This Edmonds Kingsway location is a gem. Feels more like your local cafe than a chain coffee shop. I met a few people here that I became good friends with in real life. It's just that type of vibe. Next to library is a big plus. There is outdoor seating and also there's a decorated, tranquil walkway with benches in between the Waves and the library. Sweet spot for relaxing and chatting in warmer months. Bonus is that kids love the statue / water fountain out front and there is a spacious enough area that they can play around without being close to traffic. The only negative thing is that there is no parking at all; this is not a negative for me since I walk there, but it's not somewhere you can park and run in quickly. read more

This is not my go to location, however, this location seems to have a decent assortment of eats even though they seem to lack on the GF side. I had a mint tea on ice to go. Customer service was good. Prices standard as other locations. Wifi was a bit spotty, therefore, had a bit of an issue working on my zine. read more

My wife and I have always received excellent service at this location, and the baristas know how to make a good London Fog. They do have nice cheesecakes at times, and a decent selection of pastries. The coffee is also much better than the burnt Starbucks down the street. read more

Waves serves the best almond milk matcha "lattea". The matcha is a decent quality for a a coffee shop chain, and was well mixed. I was impressed by the baristas knowledge on proper steaming of the almond milk since it is something that can be rather tricky. Good, tidy location with friendly staff. read more
