We had a lovely time here yesterday! As a fan of Elin Hildebrand I'm familiar with this restaurant from her books. Due to the reviews we stuck with basics and came for breakfast. I ordered the scrambled eggs, my husband got the gem salad and roasted potatoes, and a mocktail. Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding. You also can't beat the view!

I have no clue why this place has 3 stars because my sister and I were visiting Nantucket and this was HIGHLY recommended to us. We made a reservation will in advance and of course you have to make it around the sunset. We thought the food was well worth the price for a nicer dinner and we had the best view of the beach. Our waiter was phenomenal!!! He made so many great recommendations and made sure we got a little bit of everything. From an appetizer, entree and dessert we had zero complaints and dream of going back one day. The views are also the cherry on top! Their menu does change but from what I remember we had the lobster deviled eggs, crab cake, a tuna dish, lobster gnocchi, some shrimp pasta dish and a molten cake!

What a gorgeous view. We sat where we could look out at the beach and ocean and watch the sunset. There was a parking lot in front of the restaurant if you managed to bring a car to Nantucket. The service was impeccable. There was always a waiter within earshot. He kept our waters fully all times. I started off with a stuffed eggplant with apricots, currents and yogurt. It was devine. I wish they would share the recipe. For a main course, I had a grilled veal chop over a bed of warm wild rice and mushrooms. I had it cooked medium rare. I would give it six stars but I am only allowed five. I would definitely return if I ever had the opportunity. A definite must if ever visiting the island.

Enjoyed the food, service and ambience! Would recommend coming right for sunset! The martinis were excellent.

Nothing beats the view of the sunset at this restaurant. The couches and tables set up on the beach. Some with fire tables are just gorgeous! The service was great! Especially considering how busy it was. The dining room was so loud we could hardly speak across the table. But it is to be expected. Considering it is a busy restaurant. The price fix dinner at $89 seems reasonable, but everything that we chose off the menu was an extra cost. It seems that most things are an extra cost. We are used to Manhattan prices, so it's not that it's unusual for us to spend money for a nice dinner. The food was average and did not reflect the cost. A 23% gratuity is added to the check, which no one tells you when they drop it off. We had two appetizers, two entrées, one cocktail, one cup of coffee and a $97 bottle of wine. The check was $458. You have to make a reservation for a table outside to watch the sunset, as well as a table inside for dinner. I would definitely go back for the sunset, but I would dine someplace else for dinner.

We didn't have a reservation, but were able to be seated at a high top with a wonderful beach view. Our server Jimmy was knowledgeable and kind! We could tell he got a little stressed due to his tables being spread out so much, but he did a great job giving us a lovely experience. The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and the dessert was light and tasty. My only con was that my steak was overcooked but I decided to just let it be. Everything else came out perfectly. We will definitely be back again!

The food was good -- not fantastic. I would have rated it a 3 if it weren't for the absolutely stunning view. Definitely plan to finish dinner by 7, because once the sun goes down it gets pretty dark and you lose that beautiful scenery. We tried the Restaurant Week menu; I wasn't a fan of the squash "Caesar" -- the lettuce was replaced with squash, which didn't work for me. The wagyu tips, however, were amazing!

We ordered a kids pasta for my daughter and this is the bowl they gave it to her in- no joke. It looked like it was a bowl ffor ketchup that's how small it was. And then I ordered a panini off the menu which came with salami - I asked them if I can have that taken off to I have a vegetarian option and they said no because the paninis are pre-made... which was surprising to hear at a restaurant like the Galley. I was hoping for something fresh. It's been a spot we've gone to for years but won't be going back after this experience.

Great evening, crowded but very personable service and super dinner. First the oysters are exceptional, the lobster bisque was chocked full of lobster bits and the Lobster entree and swordfish entree were superb. We will be back , very special.

The food is AMAZING! Pros: -The food tastes amazing and well worth the prices -The wine choices are unique and taste wonderful -The service is superb -Valet parking or street parking is free -Eating right on the beach -Great for sunset dinners -Beautiful interior -Even the bathrooms play ocean wave sounds Cons: -The crowd is not your typical Nantucket crowd, they are trendy, dressy and have a little superior air about them -Hard to get reservations

The service, food and drinks are great but the view is everything. Once the sunsets, everyone goes over to the beach to take pictures... and the pictures are amazing. As must as I loved the whole experience the view is what makes the experience spectacular.

If I call ahead will the chef accommodate special dietary restrictions? I have two vegans in my party. A simple pasta dish with vegetables and olive oil would suffice! Thanks in advance.

Anywho... bar and grill side does not take reservations, which is nice. We came for a later dinner, so they will check IDs at the door. I did have a little bit of difficulty finding the hostess but once I did, I was seated right away. The service was great! If you have Greyson as your server, you will be in for an AMAZING night. And the food is excellent, too!! We had an amazing array of appetizers, my favorite bings the vegetarian taquito and the feta dip. I highly recommend ordering both. The crostini and the gazpacho were also very tasty. As for my main, the eggplant pasta, I couldn't recommend it enough. Plus, there was plenty to take home for later!!! The restaurant is a bit loud in the evening because the bar is quite lively. They boast good drinks and good music! A dinner at say, 6pm, would be more calm if that is your vibe. Either way, I'll be back soon!!

The Buffalo fried fish app the waitress recommended wasn't my favorite and doesn't seem to be a dish that should be on the menu. It def felt like TGIFridays met Nantucket but not in a good way. Literally a deep fried block of fish smothered in buffalo sauce served on like a whipped blue cheese spread. Honestly, I think it was trying to elevate Buffalo when Buffalo can't be elevated. The fish entree I had was fine. Nothing out of this world. Actually quite unmemorable. Overall, $90 for 2 dishes that were fine, the app being even on a don't order suggestion, is a little jarring. Service and ambiance was great. I love the comp bread and little dip amuse bouche. Overall, fine. I think I ordered wrong, but I do think there are some better value and more exciting food happening at other places.

Service was very attentive and informative, and food recommendations were spot on. The special salad of spinach, goat cheese, strawberries and tomatoes was divine - one of the best starter salads ever! Truly one of the best desserts ever!! Served with fresh berries and a large cookie. Overall, a great dining experience, albeit a bit on the expensive side. I also remember that, even though the waitress said it was her favorite as soon as I took a bite I could tell it was a dish I did not care for. I ate a few bites and left the rest. It was some kind of steak with a special preparation. I've looked at the restaurant menu but do not see it listed. It was a special for that evening. The restaurant had a nice Cape Cod feel to it, and it was crowded. There was a large party sitting near by and the acoustics being what they are, it was a little noisy but they left after a bit. The lighting was dim, but it was a pleasant evening and the service was great. They had a nice selection of wines. My friend had the Eggplant Vindaloo, which I had considered ordering and it was a huge serving. She took it back and ate it for several days. Another friend ordered and ate appetizers and loved the Maine Mussels Dijonnaise. I guess it was just my luck of the draw. I should have gone with my first idea and ordered the Eggplant. Or the Mussels. Despite being disappointed with my entree, it was a wonderful place to enjoy an evening with friends.
