Galliano Italian Restaurant - Maple Lawn is a wonderful restaurant. We ordered delivery so we could have a belated Mother's Day dinner tonight (for me). There was a glitch in the computer system but an extremely helpful man worked with me on the phone to work the kinks out and ensure that our food was delivered on time. It was my first time ordering from Galliano and the food exceeded my expectation. All the food was outstanding but the pièce de résistance was my Fettucine Carbonara (with substituted Gluten Free Pasta!) made with real egg. I've been to galliano's some 4 times since it opened and the food has been pretty inconsistent, I'm disappointed to say. Their Gnocchi Al Forno is pretty good but every other dish I had there was very underwhelming, especially considering the price. Additionally, when I went there for takeout, I was treated very poorly. I showed up when the takeout app told me to (some 35 minutes after placing the order) and the greeter told me it was just being packed. I waited for 15 additional minutes at the place without any acknowledgement or apology before my food arrived. It's a weekday lunch and that's time I don't get paid for. The place wasn't swamped or anything either. They also didn't include any bread which is customary. The best part? While I waited, I get asked if I'd like to add a tip for the takeout order. We have been to Galliano in Maple Lawn several times over the last few years for special occasions. The service and food have always been absolutely outstanding. When we needed a place to celebrate our daughter receiving her Master's degree, we immediately thought of Galliano and made a reservation for thirteen people. When we arrived, all seemed to start well as the table was ready for us and we were immediately seated. Our waitress, Gracie, started out great and asked us if we wanted anything to drink besides water. A few people placed drink orders, not even half the party, and the rest just had water or soda. Drinks took forever and our waitress told us that the bar was backed up. Ok, I can understand. However it took a really long time and people around us were getting bottles of wine and other drinks without any problem. Eventually our orders were taken. Bread eventually came out. Great. All was well. Then 12 out of the 13 meals came out. Yes, only 12. Apparently they forgot just one of our orders. So while everyone was finishing their meal, the 13th meal came out (they did take this off the bill). During the ENTIRE dinner, NOT ONCE did our waitress ask us if we needed another drink. NOT once did she even ask if our meals were even ok. Several people got pasta, and no parmesan cheese was ever offered. To even get the check was a chore. This was a celebration. The food was still outstanding, but service is a HUGE part of a great experience and that service was severely lacking. Don't worry, our waitress still got her 20% large tip, even though she absolutely did not earn it. I would not recommend it based on the fact that this is not an inexpensive establishment and people should expect better service. Hopefully they will do better for others in the future. read more

Went for Mother's Day brunch. We were the second party in the restaurant and the food took an hour to come out. When it did, they had forgotten to make one of our family member's entrees. I have been to Galliano twice now. I had a great experience the first time, and raved about it to my partner. We went in together and I ordered some of the same items as my first experience. The mussels smelled old and tasted bad. The burrata was good the first time but this time the bread was hard as a rock. It barely had any pesto or balsamic. We asked for softer bread and a tomato bread was brought out instead. We also got a shrimp app that was very disappointing- 3 shrimp with a ton of beans. The bartender was great and working hard the whole time. I wish the kitchen would have executed food better for it can be difficult to find nice Italian cuisine in this area. read more

Ordered a Primavera Pizza to go. It includes: Mortadella, Broccoli, Spinach, Red Onions, Broccoli, driver tomatoes, pizza sauce and Mushrooms. I ordered it without the mushrooms due to a food allergy. The pizza is a bit dull, the broccoli comes straight out of the freezer, all chopped and thrown onto the pizza last second. There is too much broccoli to begin with, the entire pizza is covered. No spinach either, instead green peppers. I can't eat mushrooms so to put something else on a pizza without asking or considering can become a great issue to the customer and the business. This is not authentic, italian pizza. Only thing I gave two stars, I was hungry and filled me up. read more

We placed our first order (take-out) tonight and had a hiccup that we didn't realize until we got home. We called immediately and the manager's response was that he would credit us the cost of the missing ingredient (??). My husband was a restaurant GM himself for many years, and was left cursing after the initial call to get the issue corrected... :( We called again and they agreed to re-make the dish. Their pizza is great and the wait staff are all super. Unfortunately I'm giving this a low review due to the clientele. So many of the folks who eat here are arrogant and stuck up rich people. Dogs are allowed on the patio. I was treated very negatively by 3 guests in a passive aggressive way due to bringing my very old and quiet dog to dinner. He is also a support animal. I am also a veteran. I was appalled how poorly I was treated by the guests eating here. Obviously this is not the restaurants fault and my waiter was empathetic after mentioning it to him. But there should be no hate in Maple Lawn. It ruined my dining experience. Perhaps the restaurant could place a 'dogs allowed' sign for those who wish to eat on the patio. We stopped in to take a chance on this place; The interior is beautiful. The hostess was gracious enough to seat us outside on the patio as we didn't have a reservation although it was 90 degrees and humid we agreed and were seated. One negative is they have a cigar bar next to the patio so all you smell is cigar and for non smokers it was YUCK. We still stuck it out as the food menu looked promising so we waited and waited and waited but no server ever came to serve water or get a drink order so we left and went to another restaurant with fantastic service and food read more

We celebrated a family member's birthday and the server was very accommodating. Our dinner was delicious. I enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan and the Brussels sprout appetizer. Good food but. . .the takeout food doesn't all make it out hot. I don't like paying for lukewarm, soggy food. Helpful hint for takeout - Don't order a pizza with other dishes for pick up. You'll end up waiting on the pizza while the rest of your food gets cold. Helpful hint for the restaurant - Maybe you could help by packaging the food in something insulating, not flimsy plastic that sits on a cold marble counter without any heat lamps. Or you could start the pizzas first and put in the rest of the ticket 10 minutes later. It could be easily fixed but until then I'll pass. read more

We knew that by going out to dinner on Mother's Day evening, we might experience slower service and we were certainly willing to give the restaurant some leeway, but this was far beyond what was acceptable.  On the other hand, we were very pleased with the food. Our server greeted us immediately and we placed our orders for an appetizer and drinks, all of which came quickly.  The grilled calamari was so tasty and cooked perfectly. Once we placed our orders for entrees, our server told us that the kitchen was backed up with takeout orders, so it may be a little longer than usual.  Again, we understood. However, over an hour passed as we waited for our food.  We watched a constant stream of people arriving to pick up takeout orders and we only half-jokingly wondered if we would get our meals quicker if we called for takeout.   Our server came by once after about a half hour to tell us that our meals would be arriving shortly, but that wasn't the case.   Finally, approximately an hour and 10 minutes after we ordered, our meals arrived. We did speak to the manager who was slightly apologetic, but more defensive as he told us that the kitchen was swamped with takeout orders.   When my husband suggested that perhaps they should have cut off the takeout orders, rather than ignore the actual dine-in customers, he told us that takeout orders were cut off as of 5:30pm.  At this point, it was 7:30pm and there were still definitely people picking up orders. My husband ordered the Fettucine Mediterraneo and enjoyed it- there were nice chunks of seafood and the sauce was tasty.   I think there was a mix up with my order.  I ordered the Gnocchi Al Forno- the menu listed two options for sauce and I chose one of those- the Bolognese.  However, shortly after I ordered, the server came by and said that she just rang my order in as Gnocchi Bolognese.  Since I didn't have the menu in front of me, I didn't think much of it.  But when it arrived, it did not appear to be 'al forno' (baked) and it wasn't topped with the basil and cheese that the menu indicated.  In retrospect, I wish I had asked for clarity when the server told me that she essentially changed my order.    Nonetheless, the gnocchi was excellent. To their credit, the manager did offer us a free dessert, but we already had other dessert plans.  So they ultimately gave us a discount on our entrees, which was a gesture that we did appreciate. And a quick note on COVID protocols:  When we arrived, our table did not appear to have been cleaned between patrons, and we needed to ask our server to do so.  Also, the tables in our section were definitely not spaced 6 feet apart.  My husband was back-to-back with another customer at a distance of maybe a foot.   The restrooms, which appear to be part of the larger office building, had not been cleaned in some time- the trash was overflowing onto the floor, there were no paper towels, and the sinks were a mess.    We're newly fully vaccinated and just beginning to dine out at restaurants, and did not find this to be a place in which we were comfortable. We're planning on giving them another chance, but considering just how poor the dine-in experience was, I think we'll just stick to takeout. read more

Very good, fast delivery, and arrived hot!! Eggplant parm was delicious and the sauce on the spaghetti was great. Eggplant meatballs are also great, however did not have a description online, and ended up being a sort of eggplant stuffing, breaded and fried. Still delicious, but not what I expected. read more

Went here as a last minute change from a wine bar that was closed in Ellicott City. This place was a wonderful alternative! We arrived there during happy hour and had half off appetizers and delicious signature cocktails. We received an on the house app and someone covered our desserts because we were celebrating a birthday. I live in the neighborhood and finally decided to get some carryout from here. We ordered chicken alfredo and a mushroom pizza. Both were very disappointing. Pizza had very few toppings. I mean 7-8 small pieces of mushroom. It was also underbaked- not crispy at all with a pronounced doughy feel. Alfredo was so bland I'm not even sure they added any salt much less anything else. Great Italian food! There is something for everyone on the menu. I especially love the Pappardelle Bolognese, Gnocchi bolognese, Carbonara and Penne Al la Vodka Galliano Style. The Risotto con Carne is also delicious. The waitstaff are always very friendly and responsive. There is a nice outdoor seating area, as well. One thing that I'd love to see is beer on draft. Sadly, they only have bottles. I also got a catering order from here for work this summer, and it was ready on time and the quantities were perfect. read more

this is a wonderful restaurant with a gorgeous interior and amazing options on the menu!! I would say the service is a little slow, but they are relatively new. the food makes up for it also; I ordered the salmon and it was seriously some of the best I've had in my life. Tonight at Galliano we saw what could have been the owner or staff off duty sitting at the bar eating and drinking and then going behind the bar to help themselves to drinks. I found it rude and also quite unsanitary. I don't know why they thought it was the right thing to do. The gentleman went behind the bar at one point and got himself a shot of something then proceeded to walk around the bar sniffing it over and over again. I thought it so rude !!
