Nana's Nursery is one of those bright, shining stars. I'm not a fan of clothes shopping - ever - but when I walked by this store, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the extraordinary beauty within. Racks and racks of stunning dresses for women big and small (kids and adults). My breath was taken away by the colors, designs, quality, and sheer beauty of each dress. One gown in particular jumped out at me, its red shimming chiffon begging for me to put it on. It was (is) the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. A nice woman helped me to get into multiple layers of the gown and locked tight the silk sash, buttons and snaps of the bodice. Being a novice at ballgowns such as this, I had no idea it needed a hoop - an extremely large hoop - under the skirt. I though it would knock down tables and perhaps even a small child with this ginormous skirt, but I didn't. Instead I felt like a Princess and all the ladies in the land (especially the little girls) were mesmerized. It was amazing being a princess for a day, especially after an extremely challenging year. The ladies who work at Nana's were all so nice and helped me out of the dress at the end of the night so I didn't have to navigate Lyft with that intruding hoop. My only wish was that I had bought a size smaller because I had to keep pulling up the shoulder straps and the bodice was a bit loose, making me feel like "the girls" might escape at any minute. Unfortunately, they sold the smaller size so my plan to buy the next size down and gift the larger dress to a needy high schooler for Christmas was dashed into a snow bank. Ah, but there is Christmas magic in the air and perhaps I'll find another red dress so that both of our princess dreams come true. Honestly ladies, if you want to feel like royalty, come see the amazing gowns at Nana's Nursery. You will walk away on a cloud.

There's shoes, books, toys, sleep sacks, carriers, etc. There's even women's clothes although I've only browsed those items a couple of times. You earn store credit for purchases which is also great, and I think on Tuesdays, items are discounted. If you want to consign, you basically have to call the month before to try to get an appointment since they book up pretty quickly. I've been told that I could also try to call on a consignment day (Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday) to see if there are any last-minute appt cancellations. You bring in your bag of items and they'll go through it and select what they think will sell. If it sells within a month, you can either get a percentage of the sale as cash or you can get a larger percentage as store credit. I opt for the store credit since I need to keep buying clothes for this growing child who is somehow above average height considering she has two exactly average height parents haha.

Provided payment (my own gold Amex), provided the billing address, provided the shipping address. Galls refused to honor my order because the shipping address is a "freight forwarder." Not only is it totally not Galls' business who receives the merchandise - why on earth should it matter if the credit card is legitimate?!? - but apparently the company routinely snoops around and investigates customers' residences. They did offer to ship to an international address, but at the cost of $55 (the whole order was $80!). They must think I fell off a turnip truck. Such price gouging is unconscionable and unethical. I hope they go the way of U.S. Cavalry, which used to be an awesome store until their customer service went down the can. P.S. Don't bother emailing them; their response to every message is "Call customer service." Why do they provide email contacts if they do not use it to solve even simple issues?!? read more

Wonderful service provided by Nancy! I had not expected such help when I dropped by the store. I had inquired about whether they had my particular uniform in stock or if I would have to order via online. Without skipping a beat, Nancy responded yes and proceeded to a rack to grab my correct sized shirt and to the wall of uniform trousers and again pulled out the correct size for me. Nancy answered all my questions in a friendly professional manner. This was in stark contrast to a recent visit to another establishment where the employee pointed toward an aisle and told me to go look for an item (on my own); that was horrible customer service. Way too far of a drive for me to be disappointed. They are known as the Wal-Mart for law enforcement and I can see why, but when it comes down to customer service, you GET NONE! When I was getting fitted, they poked me with a pin and then told me to "Quit moving". I'm ok with that, maybe I was squirming. Then after waiting for what seemed like an hour, my uniforms were done but they misspelled my name and then told me that I must have spelled it wrong! Are you kidding me? I guess I have to go back to school to remember how to spell my own name. Driving in the crazy traffic in San Francisco is not worth trying out this place another time! read more
