"Now On DVD" is actually a MOVIE RENTAL PLACE like Blockbuster, but it's actually not a chain. I…read morelove this place because you can rent and also buy some movies. It is run by these Asian folks that are cool as hell. They have a cool variety of movies you can rent, you can even rent some ASIAN MOVIES ASWELL! POSITIVES: -Pretty cool parking lot. -Great customer service. -Nice, clean and organized place. -XXX section for all you pervs! HAHAHHAA! -They also sell some CHEAP popcorn packs if you wanna eat popcorn while watching the movie you rented. NEGATIVES: -With all the Asian movies they have, I'm surprised that they don't have "Battle Royale" or the REAL KOREAN version of "My Sassy Girl". -They need to start getting more BLU-RAY discs and more VIDEO GAMES. -I don't like the fact that Blockbuster closes LATER than "Now On DVD", because that means it leaves me no choice but to go rent at Blockbuster. FINAL THOUGHTS: -There are a lot more cool secrets about this place, but you will have to find out yourself! hahaha! (no, it's not a secret massage parlor! hahaha) -This is THE BEST NON-CHAIN video rental place in Carson...reminds me of a better version of the old Triple 7 Video (R.I.P., now Pizza Patron took over), but bigger! -A few miles down, "M's VIDEO" SUCKS...I hate that place! I used to work there with one of the old owners and they ripped me off back then!

The game coaches were excellent and their professionalism, service and cleanliness were top notch. Guests absolutely loved the snow cone machine (8 flavors) and were served by the game truck team. They provided about 8 chairs for exterior gaming. On a hot day, I suggest putting up canopies for the "extras" you may order from them, plus guests (parents) who might want to hang near the truck. GameTruck: The truck/trailer needs at least 3 car lengths of space in front of a residence. Game selection was excellent across all platforms and satisfied 6yo - 14yo players. Cool mood-setting RGB lighting in the interior. Clean and excellent condition physical space and hardware. Mixed feedback from guests about the A/C but my b-day boy said he was perfectly cool. Service Acquisition: Business was conducted 100% over the phone. Told owner that my discovery and background knowledge was via Yelp. As such, service area limitation premiums $$ and travel fees were not referenced nor communicated in the procurement conversation. The business educated me about them after invoice was provided. Please ask for the distances as they differed - at the time - from the website I was told about on payment day (event day).

The inside was nice and cool on a hot day, and the outside had shades that made it easy to play and view the screens too. The set up and service was top notch. Staff was super professional. Me and my grandfather before he passed away at 91 used to come to Gardena when I was a little kid…read moreand I used to go here a lot. Today, I decided to make a review. This store had my favorite Japanese enka cds I used to listen to in the car, I don't see them in here today. Now I see labubu, anime books and tv show tapes and anime toys. I also saw a ton of movies in dvd form like blue ray and 4k he collections. I bought straw dogs today and looked around a lot. They had a nice environment. Similar to GameStop but cleaner and friendlier staff. All Japanese staff and the people in Gardena are also Asian. Some nerdy fellas also went to look and Nintendo switch games. I'm talking the top nerdy ones. Service was great and the environment is so pleasant I love the stuff in the store, you can't get it near where I live an hour away in Stevenson ranch Santa Clarita. Once every 10 years I'll try to come when I have time. But now more so since I'm finally on my own, but need someone to go with. Anyway life is short so live it to the fullest like my grandpa. He's with the gods now. As for enjoyment purposes, a lot of fan service. Waifus and fan service toys. Pretty solid price though but my cousin collects them and they collect dust so I don't think they will be good unless you like that sort of stuff but maintaining them is tough. Enjoyed the books too. They had explicit books with furries, not a fan of it but very interesting to say the least. I can't find other store that have these books and exclusive toys. Overall, I would love to shop here had they had one near where I live, I just happened to be around in the area today and remembered this place and wanted to drive by to take a look at how things changed here. For the most part, they keep up to date with the times. I remember back when beanie babies were sold here. Now labubus. Overall, if you come by Gardena area, make sure not to miss this hidden diamond. Even if you're not into Japanese stuff, a great place to observe products that can't be sold anywhere other than here and maybe some online retailers.

Pluses: This is probably one of the better Book Off locations. Good variety of secondhand items…read more(note - they do have a magazine section which isn't secondhand), numerous old manga, and for the record collectors, some noteworthy vinyl (not a big selection and it's predominantly Japanese pop music). The store does well as a retro game store although you may have better luck with their Little Tokyo location. This will not have the feel of a Goodwill. It's far better. Also, I came here to sell some old games dating back to PS2 era and got a decent quote. A bit surprised. NOTE - your own case may vary, and they didn't take everything. Surprisingly they didn't take some old DVD's sets I had and I didn't have many. Minuses: This isn't a retro game store and it shows. Not many old game consoles available (Hard-Off does, and I believe Hard Off, which is part of the Book Off chain, is Japan only for now). Also, be realistic with what you have. Not everything will be eligible to be resold. Many old books and old anime titles likely won't make it. Although my quote was higher than I expected they didn't take some anime I had from the early 2000s (not very popular). In short, Book Off Gardena should be a very decent place to find what you are looking for. Now I can only wish Book Off brings Hard Off to the U.S. so that we can buy old cameras!

How can I not give Square Enix five stars? This company has produced some of the greatest video…read moregames of all time and some of the most impactful to me personally. I grew up playing SquareSoft games, the most influential years being in the mid-90s, with masterpiece titles like Final Fantasy II and III (IV and VI in Japan), Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger. I've played most of the Final Fantasy main series. I'd rank them as follows (using Japanese numbering): 1. X (2001) 2. VI (1994) 3. IV (1991) 4. VIII (1999) 5. XII (2006) 6. IX (2000) 7. VII (1997) 8. V (1992) 9. XIII (2009) 10. I (1987) The Final Fantasy series has it all. Great, epic stories, interesting characters and fun battle mechanics, and unparalleled artwork (Yoshitaka Amano) and music (Nobuo Uematsu). I still remember one of my co-op semesters in college when all I would do when I came home from work was play FFX. I really got sucked into the game. I got every character's ultimate weapon. The game I sunk the most time into was FFXII at 140 hours and 37 minutes. The only other games that have taken up more of my time (that was recordable) to date are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) at approximately 200 hours and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (2020) at approximately 245 hours and counting (I'm still actively playing ACNH). When I first played FFIV (II US), I had never experienced a video game with such a deep and emotional story. And the music, wow. I used to record the music from the video games, coming out from the TV speakers, using a Fisher-Price kids tape recorder. When soundtracks started coming out on CD in the US, I bought those (Secret of Mana, Kefka's Domain) directly from Square. One of my memories of FFVI was auto-grinding (a cheap tactic) on the Lethe River. I'd put a rubber band around my Super NES controller to keep the A button pressed down and have the characters go around in circles and automatically level up by pounding indefinitely on weak enemies. One time, my SNES actually crashed during one of those sessions (first time I experienced a console crashing). FFVI had such a long and amazing ending. Again, unlike anything I had experienced in a video game up to that point. To date, FFXIII is by far graphically the most beautiful and impressive of the FF games I've played. However, as critics have pointed out, the game is like going down one long beautiful tunnel. The game doesn't feel as open-world as previous entries in the series. I actually got stuck in FF Mystic Quest and never beat it. It's funny because it was designed to be easy. I wasn't interested enough to continue and gave up too easily. I completed FFX-2, but was a little underwhelmed with the game as it felt like a cheap, somewhat soulless sequel. Playing with dresspheres was also kind of weird to me, like I was playing a form of digital dress-up dolls. I've attended three Final Fantasy concerts, one of which the legend himself, Nobuo Uematsu, was in attendance. https://www.yelp.com/collection/ax-zz53yXYaIzt7IttRppw I wrote a guide on how to defeat the hardest optional boss in FFIX, Ozma. It's published on GameFAQs: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197338-final-fantasy-ix/faqs/47344. It's one of the nerdiest things I've ever done. Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger are some of my all-time favorite video games as well. During one visit to Japan in the late 90s, I purchased guide books for FFVI and Seiken Densetsu 3 even though I couldn't read Japanese. The books just looked cool and I liked looking at the pictures and graphic design. Still do. As far as the Enix part of Square Enix is concerned, I don't have much experience other than Dragon Warrior (the original Dragon Quest) game for the NES. My sister and I played the heck out of that game. It was our first classic RPG experience. My sister actually liked it and got better at it than me. We actually have two copies because we got one copy for free for being subscribers to Nintendo Power magazine. The NP copy is still sealed. It's crazy to me that Nintendo mailed Dragon Warrior cartridges to every NP subscriber (this was in late 1990).

I don't know any business or company in the world that cannot change the shipping of an item 3 weeks ahead of time. It is absolutely poor communication. Especially for a $400 item!
