Game Stop is definitely one of our "go to" places for video games. We actually frequent almost all the locations in Bakersfield; however, we don't go as much as we used to. When me and my husband was a lot younger we definitely would get all the new games, but now it's basically what the kiddos want. I wouldn't say this Game Stop is the worst one, but sometimes there's always a long line and only one person at the register. I don't know how they organize their setup w their staff, but at times, you can see the other workers in the back of the counter just chit chatting and getting all hyped up about a game coming out instead of opening up a new register to help let the flow move a little quicker. We still go back to Game Stop because they have where you can put games or consoles on hold before the release date and you can actually make payments on it til the actual product is released and I like that so by the time the release date comes then you can just pick up your product. If you end up removing your hold, they hold on to some of your money that you put down so that you can put it something else on hold. I don't believe they do refunds for that, which I felt was a bit weird, but didn't bother me much since my whole family is gamers and we always come back. This Game Stop is definitely smaller than the one on Rosedale and maybe a little bit bigger than the one in the mall, but parking seems to be the same at all of those locations as parking seems to be in secluded crammed up areas. Other than that, no matter if you like the place or not.... if you're a gamer then you end up coming back lining up at the long lines, but don't worry.... once it's over you can play your game. ;-) Last but not least... Order the console online and that was fast and easy, all I had to do was wait for the pick up email. That did not come fast enough for my niece. Lol I never been to this location before and I totally forget it was in the shopping where I always go. When walking in there was a good size line and a worker was helping an customer on the floor, she sounded very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I stood in line for about 10 min not too bad, I was able to get pulled from the line because I had ordered online, so convenient, did I tell you it was Thanksgiving night lol. The lady who worked there was so sweet and sent me on my way once she retrieved my item from the back. When you come into game stop you don't just buy and leave, you actually feel the need to walk about and look at all the cute stuff they have. Neighbors came down with the VID and asked me to pick up some games for them while they were quarantining. Walked in and Gerrard was helping another customer. I overheard him give him some recommendations to the customer to try and save then some money. When it was my turn he greeted me and was very pleasant. He retrieved the game and when he looked up my ancient gamestop account let me know I had 20% off a used game and went to see if they had it in stock. They did not but I was able to find another game for my neighbor. Gerrard's friendly attitude and willingness to help the customer out instead of selling them things they don't need is commendable. The GameStop on panama lane in Bakersfield is awesome! The lady named Leia that works there is a Superstar! She did an Excellent job helping me & my son out today! I first called the store to see if they had a Nintendo switch lite in which she informed me they did have one & she stated she would be happy to hold it for me while I made my way to the store & gave me peace of mind by saying drive safely she wouldn't sell it to anyone else before I got there! She had Wonderful on the phone customer service & in person customer service! She is Super funny, Great Personality & made the Transaction effortless! She was very informative about games & she was very patient with me during the whole process! She looks the part of a true gamer when you see her in person & again she went above & beyond the call of duty to make sure I had a wonderful experience @ the GameStop... Leia made sure I knew about my rewards & told me about my trade in & it's value & made me & my son feel very welcome from the time I walked in the door to the time I walked out the door. GameStop couldn't have asked for a better representative! She is definitely manager material & sky is the limit for her imo... I go to numerous stores for video games ranging from Walmart to Bestbuy to Gamestop but on this particular occasion my wife and I were searching for certain items and the sale that only Gamestop was providing. At the one in the mall next to Mrs. Fields cookie shop we found several Funko Pop figures from Harry Potter, however they did not have Severus Snape and Hagrid, but we were advised this Gamestop had the Hagrid. We walked in and the line was about 5-6 deep and I was thinking, ok not bad. We searched high and low and finally found the Hagrid but not Severus. Here is where the issue came into fruition, I got into line and there was 3 customers waiting and two registers open, so 5 customers ahead of me including the ones being helped. Why oh why would it take 30 minutes to help 2 customers between the two registers? I get that people are excited for the games that just came out or coming out but please be considerate of those waiting in line with other things to do. Myself being in retail for the season, it is very crucial to make your customer feel that you are helping them 100% but you are understanding that you need to help and move on respectfully to the next one. I have been here before for console launches and the same issue remains the same. I guess I was stuck in a rut because they were the only ones with the product I wanted lol. read more

Good selection of games but appalling and disturbing behavior from sales associates! They were polite enough while conducting sales, but after each of the customers before my son left with their purchases, the two associates made fun of their appearances, even calling them demeaning names! There are two other Gamestops within like a mile radius of this one. If you want to avoid the mall go to this one. Let me tell you the parking for this place is horrible. Its in a strip mall that has too many businesses for the amount of parking. If you can find a place to leave your car the store is alright. Its bigger and has a wider selection than either of the valley plaza locations. The employees are friendly enough and geeky enough to answer all your gaming questions. read more

I went and picked up my Pokémon moon Game. When I left I realize that I did not have my poster. So I called to the game stop that I received it up. They told me that they were not responsible and if they do not have any posters in stock him to call Nintendo. So I then proceeded to call Nintendo. Nintendo told me that they were not responsible for any promotions or gifts that anything any store provide. Do you wish I agree. So I called game stop again. They told me that their promotion as needed/as provided. In which I argued the fact that I had pre-ordered my game for this exact reason. The representative told me that the store was only obligated to provide as needed. I then proceeded to explain to the representative that I had pre-ordered my game to receive the poster she then again responded that it was as needed or required by each store. I don't understand why the point of pre-ordered the game and reserving your game and or special gift is required if you were not going to receive The gift for this purchase. This is beyond ridiculous and beyond unprofessional in my opinion.
