Some were out of order for who knows how long (collecting dust). Nothing really caught my eyes so I went down to the restaurant/bar for a drink. As far as the experience goes here, it is more or less a shadow of its former glory. They still have some cool games, but due to lack of maintenance and age they tend to stay sadly in a state of disrepair. Incredibly nice staff, and I had fun with my 9 year old there, but we didn't order food (having read other reviews), and we went with the express purpose of blowing some money to play the ticket-based games. It wound up fairly fun, although the games really show the signs of wear. It really is a bunch of carny games, including the vague feeling of being cheated, but I knew that going in. We won about 500 tickets (after spending $24), and my son picked out some candy, and we were satisfied. If you go looking for more, you may be disappointed, and I'm not sure we'll go back anytime soon. The place feels a little tired, but we got exactly what we wanted out of it. read more

We came here for our daughter's basketball team get-together and the initial impression is "Wow, there is so much to do", but after an hour you will have already done, everything possible. I loved the restaurant inside and found that for the parents it was definitely nice to sit, talk and share some food and drinks while the kids played. The ticket/card system is strange. We purchased cards for unlimited games but there were still games we had to use tickets for. So we felt we got jipped for a family of 6 and not being able to play all the games "Unlimited should really mean unlimited". Other than that, it's a great place for kids to enjoy each others company and for parents to chat as well. The location is great if you are already planning a day in downtown Seattle, everything is within walking distance from this place. This place is absolutely horrible. I consider myself a bit of a nacho snob so I ordered the nachos. These were arguably the worst nachos I've ever had - and I've had nachos in places as exotic as Spain, Malaysia, and other very non-traditional nacho venues. For some reason the restaurant is under the impression that lettuce, Doritos, and pickled onions very heavy in vinegar will somehow enable the outrageously overpriced $18 nachos. The server, while polite, was under the impression that using the f word was okay on more than one occasion while taking to us. While this doesn't bother me in the least, I feel that this is probably not appropriate as many people may be offended by this time of language. I suppose they might have better good options, but everything about this pace was so bad that I don't think a second visit would be warranted. My son wanted to celebrate his 9th birthday here and it did not disappoint. Our event coordinator, Molly, was great! She made sure we were taken care of and was so hospitable. The kids had an amazing time and it was right up their alley! I thought the value was also really great! Plenty of food for the kids and adults (I did add on a Superfood Salad, my fave) and I was able to add some a la carte items when I booked it initially with Michelle. Each time I go there it seems like 3 or 4 games are gone or are out of service. I went there last night, it seemed as though 1/3 of the games were out of service. There were a lot of ticket games that had error all over the place, so no tickets from those machines. It seems like they don't care about keeping up maintenence for any of the games, instead they just remove them. There are games that are on but the card reader is off or not working. No more gameworks for me. What a waste of space. read more

Was ok. games are a little expensive. They make you buy a game card for $2 then they give you extra credits to make up for it. most games are 8 credits a few are more and some are less. They have games that give you tickets. Don't plan on getting much with the tickets unless you are a regular. You will leave with a bunch of candy for your tickets. Don't waste your time here. Place is definitely showing it's age. One of the workers was really unfriendly. Felt like he just didn't want to be working there. The way they count tickets by weighing them is sketchy to me. Prizes are extremely overpriced. Even my son who's only six knew that place sucked. Was so put off by the workers there I didn't even waste my time to try the food. Went to Cheesecake Factory across the street instead. Overall, it was pricey, but fun. There is a decent enough selection of games, including old arcade games, computer, driving, shooting, and music games. However, if you're interested in air hockey, know that their tables suck. One has a goal easily twice as wide as a normal one. Where's the fun in that? The other is so dirty the puck doesn't really slide that well. There's also food and drinks and, if memory serves, it's adults only after 10 PM. read more

I've tried to think of a clever analogy to describe this place, but I'm just not willing to make the effort. It's an expensive arcade with a bar, and I think they might serve food there too. I spent about 45 minutes here when I realized I wasn't having fun or even much of a good time. It seems to me this place should be a fairly fun place to go on a Friday night especially if you are already with people you enjoy being with, yet I found Gameworks to lack a pulse and quite possibly a soul. I love going here mainly because there is a huge selection of Benami games. Not just DDR and all the updated/older versions, but also Guitarfreaks, Drummania, Beatmania, and the very rare Pop n Music game. This is one of the better Gameworks locations with this particular set of games. read more

This is a great place to take my teenage nephews, or get a little flashback arcade entertainment for myself and friends. Haven't eaten the food in years. Last time I did it was reasonable bar fare, but you probably shouldn't expect much of a dining experience. But after writing them a few years back, I feel like they've dialed in the prize redemption games, and are offering better prizes, although I think some of the prizes are still way too expensive. I do think they could get a wider variety of games, or at least change some out a few times a year. I do think they've improved over the past year, and I hope they try to keep things cutting edge. read more

If this review was based only on food service and quality, I would have given it a 1 star. I gave it an extra just because Gameworks is a fun place to go to and has many various games as well as retro games too. But the food and servive there is the main reason why i am posting. I went there over this past weekend (post PAX to feed my gaming hunger) with 3 other people. We all received raw hamburgers and when asked to cook more, they gave it to us. . . still raw! I ate it anyway because I was so hungry! Then, the waitress didn't want to deal with us because she knew that we were not happy. . . she took longer and longer to even give us water or any service. . . we had to ask other wait staff for services and they just told us to hold on and that they would be right back. .. then after more time, she came to the table with an attitude. I could not handle the situation since I am always a generous tipper so my friends dealt with the situation with no tip and 2 "free" uneaten meals. Free bacteria, awesome. I know things happen (believe me, I eat out every day and I have worked in food services) in life, and no situation is going to be perfect. . . it is what we do after unfortunate events, that matter. She sucked really bad in every way. She should not be working in any service oriented work. I am updating this review to add a star for managerial efforts. Best place ever for a birthday party! I mean where else in Seattle are you going to find a place that allows children (so your friends with kids don't have to hire a baby sitter) and at the same time will serve alcohol to your 21 and over friends? And if you have friends on a tight budget you can't beat the price. Week night parties are about $13 per person ($11 plus tip and fee) and includes a private room for an hour, pizza, soda and cake for everyone and an hour of unlimited games for everyone. And our private room included our own waiter who checked on us every 5 minutes to see if we wanted more pizza or soda (thanks Mike!). The cake wasn't that great though, you might want to ask if you can bring your own cake when you book your party. read more

I usually only frequent Gameworks if they are running a Groupon special. Just moved to Seattle from near Chicago, so I used to frequent the Gameworks in Schaumburg. Was pleasantly surprised to see that this Gameworks offers some specials which the one back home did not! On Wednesdays you can apparently get 3 hours of play for $20 which is a pretty good deal. I also got a "points" card- I bought 200 points for $35 and then for an extra $2 you get 60 more so that is also a pretty good deal. Won 5000+ tickets on the token slider games and walked away with a lava lamp and two Gameworks drink glasses, and saved the remaining 2500 points for next time. Only gripe was that it seemed like a lot of the games were broken, and there were a ton of unsupervised kids running around acting like brats....but I guess what can I expect, it's an arcade. read more
