Don't bother shopping here. The sales staff a arrogant and customer service in non-existent. Bought some custom order doors and when they arrived they were beat up in several places. Big gouges that were obvious from a distance. I was told they were minor scratches and I could easily patch them up myself. I was told they were custom order and there were no returns. For a $3600 residential order, Liz promised delivery for 9 am-12 pm Monday morning, but needed in person payment of the ticket. Paid in person next day, but still confirmed with whoever received payment for 9 am Monday morning delivery. We scheduled additional labor to receive the order, and begin work. At 10:30 on Monday morning, Liz called and said the order could not be delivered AT ALL on Monday, apparently because she didn't do what she needed to do the previous week to order the delivery. Upon rescheduling, Liz said, "I'm sorry this happened." But did not take responsibility. In fact, she tried to make it sound like it was our fault that she didn't enter the delivery. ???? I have sent my workers home, and now must try again with a new delivery date. A major hassle for me, but not for Liz. Or her manager, or Ganahl. This is not how to retain customers-- but maybe they don't need small long-term home re-modelers like me. read more

I went into Ganahl at 7:20am 12/6/23 as a regular customer as I have been for 20+ years continuing 3 times a week. As I was already currently having a wonderful morning, I got into the warehouse in the morning and I had approached a bald African American gentleman for help, as I asked for a forklift for a 6x6x12 DF RO he had his attention on some random scanner in his hand, he then proceeded to shake his bald head with sweat on it ignoring me saying he did not have any 6x6x12 DF RO when it was the third row to the right and he proceeded to not acknowledge me. I think this is unprofessional due to lack of work for my employees and time spent off my job site when I'm prepping. I have always had good customer service every-time I go in this was the 3rd bad experience in 20 years. I was being nice enough to cut this bald gentleman a break, but this was a 3rd incident due to a different problem each time. I hope they get some worthy workers in there that know what they are doing. On another note, I went back at 10:30am to pick up some paint as I asked a short gal for help and she seemed to not want to interact when it came down to business, so instead of wasting time I then had to proceed and head to a different store down the road which was vista paint. On another note when i was walking out of the store at 10:42am I had a curly hair gentleman buy the front questioning me for a receipt when I had a former receipt in my hand from 2 hrs ago he had approached me in a very rude manner when I never even bought anything inside the store at that time. I had yard material on my truck from earlier that morning and they were 2x4x16 because I never got my 6x6 ro This just goes to show how bad service can be at mom and pop businesses. I came here just to look around since I drive by it all the time. I found a couple little things to buy, but wasn't looking for anything particular. They have a good selection of fasteners, including a lot of stainless, which is primarily what I use. The best thing about this store is how well organized it is and how clean it is because they keep all of the lumber behind the store in a lumber yard. The only reason I'm leaving a review is because I saw a few bad reviews saying the customer service was horrible, and they couldn't get any help. I had a very different experience. I was asked if I needed any help probably 5 or 6 times in the 15 to 20 minutes I was there looking around. 4 Stars instead of 5 because I can't remember seeing any good deals or sales. Great staff at the order desk/back counter and the cash register up front. I used to come here because they had the best lumber but they don't anymore. Buying more and more lumber from Home Depot because it's dry, straight and clean. The lumber at Ganahl is often wet, moldy, warped, and many of the typical framing pieces have five sides instead of four. The lumber that other customers picked through and rejected gets stacked on top of the better lumber by Ganahl's yard staff. That means everyone coming to look for good lumber has to wade through all of the warped, moldy five sided lumber to get to the better lumber. It can now take an hour to get to a few decent studs. I never thought I'd say it, but at this point, Home Depot is actually better. And don't even think of having them deliver lumber. They delivered the worst of the worst and hope you won't bring it back. read more

I went into their store to get some wood panels for a bunk bed frame. First of all, when you walk in the door they don't acknowledge you, which would be nice since the check-out counters are right up close to the entrance. When I got to the area where customers wait to be recognized, someone finally said: can I help you? My particular situation was sort of special in that if they had just spent a little time allowing me to describe my needs they could have made a sale. Anyway, I left there and went straight to Home Depot where they went 'above and beyond' helping me to get the materials to produce a frame for my bunk beds. If you're a DIY, this is a good place to buy supplies. If you need help from the back desk on cut wood, forget it. If you don't look like a contractor, they'll treat you like crap and quote whatever they want. One guy in particular was so rude and condescending. He even told us to cut the wood ourselves before he even quoted it. We went back about 3 times and each time got a different cost from different people. We purchased glass doors from this Company for several thousands of dollars. These doors were supposed to be guaranteed with warranties. Late at night one of the glass doors protected from all sides shattered for no reason. My wife & I , both in our seventies, were sound asleep and came downstairs to find the glass door completely shattered. This Ganahl Costa Mesa site refused to even come to our house to inspect the damage and instead said that it was obvious from the pictures that we hit the door with something and that we would have to pay them thousands to fix the glass door because they would not honor the warrantee. SEXUAL HARASSMENT @ 3 PM TODAY: Today, I went with a group of girls to buy wood planks for a project. First, we were helped very well by a gentleman that was working inside (I unfortunately do not know his name). Then, we found that the finished wood was too expensive, so we went outside for the cheaper wood. After a gentleman with long hair in a bun helped us with choosing our wood, we took our piece to the guy that would be cutting it for us. First, he asked us who was in charge of the group project. Myself and my project partner said that we were. Mind that all 4 of us are girls. He then asked my partner if I had a boyfriend. My friend ignored him, and I said yes I do to disregard his unprofessionalism, and proceeded to ignore him. He then dropped what he was doing and came to where we were all standing, not even minding our personal space, and proceeded to try to flirt with us all at the same time! After I rejected him, he moved on to another friend, and continued. He then asked a friend who said "no i do not have a boyfriend" if he could take her out! After we all rejected him, I asked him if he was on the clock (was he not working right now?!). He said he was. I said "where is the professionalism? Where is the decency? The respect? What is your name?" The man did not give me his name, and so I asked him who his manager is. He showed me the guy who had been helping us prior while choosing finished wood from inside. I walked inside, and I complained to the 2 managers, who were incredibly understanding and helpful. However, what really pushed our buttons was that just yesterday (before today's incident) he had said similar things, in fact worse, to one of the girls that came with us again today. He approached her again flirtatiously and said he is "just looking for a nice F***"...UNACCEPTABLE. This is outright SEXUAL HARASSMENT. Unacceptable. Later, the same girl went to take our product and that disgustingly unmannered man apologized and said he "went too far." Was this because I told him I was going to complain? Hmm. Anyway, I am VERY upset, and I am still regretting not calling the police today! This has caused a lot of psychological distress for myself and my group members today, and I will NEVER come back. The facility is nice and they used to negotiate prices to bet HD but my recent visit just really shows how poor their service is now, its worse than HD. The works have more product knowledge than HD but they are very rude and don't seem to care about customers unless you wear a SKIRT. Bunch of pigs in the back lumber! Somewhere between the land of big box stores and little full service hardware stores lies Ganahl Lumber. This is a medium sized store with very good service. The selection or prices aren't as impressive as a big box store. I notice woodworking, electrical, remodeling, and other contractors walking in to get their materials and walking out just a few minutes later - often with a smile on their face. I mainly go there for routine gardening plants and tools, hardware supplies, and cleaning solutions. They have three or four of most items, so their are choices for the items I usually need. I am usually in and out of there in 5-15 minutes. Their parking lot is small and easy in and easy out off south Bristol street. They have a small but adequate garden section that is a lot cheaper than Armstrong's or Roger's Garden. Their six pack of bedding plants is $2.00 and at least a dollar cheaper. A few times a year, their larger shrubs like the ever-blooming gardenia sells for $13.00 instead of $20.00 The store is comfortable to shop, nicely maintained, and generally clean. I like the cashiers and the people working on the floor. It's always been a decent shopping experience. read more

I prefer going here over Home Depot or Lowes, especially if I have to get lumber. They have an excellent selection of mdf trim, baseboard, crown molding and the like. And the tool selection is top notch. You can also get decent styles of pre hung doors here too. The staff have always been helpful. The customer service here is one of the worst I've had in retail. Even if you're relatively skilled you'll be talked down to, berated for not knowing which counter to go to or made fun of by employees. I was pointed in a direction when I asked for help so the employees could continue in their personal discussion. I had to go to the door greeter for help. When I asked for help with poplar common boards I was told to go to the lumber yard and was then yelled at for trying to walk into the lumbar yard (fenced off area) with the hardware (a couple of bolts and nuts) that I had in my hand. The lumbar yard sent me back inside for the poplar where the employees were talking about me saying "he expected me to wait on him!" Sorry I asked for help and bothered you while you discussed your weekend plans with your coworkers. Don't dare try to pay for your hardware and lumbar in the same place. You'll be told to wait at two different registers as if you should have known. After paying and asking for 4 even boards to be cut out of one; one was off by an inch and they said wood varies. You know what doesn't vary... measuring tapes! One of the boards was damaged and I was told that's why you pick the wood you buy. You're right I should have double checked your employees work. As I was leaving I witnessed another lady being yelled at for carrying her hardware to the lumbar yard. Maybe put up a sign! Shameful service. I can't believe management allows this. A contractor I spoke with said to go to Austin in Santa Ana, their service is way better. read more

I must've spoken to 5 employees to ask for help and everyone single one went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for and even show me how to do it.
