I knew there was something odd going on @ the Grove but my intuition (yeah, guys have it too) was confirmed when they started playing Joy Division at The Gap. I think it was that instant, not the one where the fake snow was being porn i mean poured all over me like all of a sudden snow is a good thing, but the moment that 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' blasted the ears of willing Gap customers that my perception on thangs was off. Literally every single one addressed me, which would normally annoy me, but I was impressed considering how busy it was. I went in today to get a pair of ballet flats. One sales person made it look like I annoyed her when I asked for help. She then had someone else help me and they were just as rude. When they did not have what I was looking for I asked to see if they can check another store and that was too much work for her. Once she finally looked and said what store has the shoes she refused to call and ask them to hold the item! THAT BEING SAID I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT LOCATION AND SHOP AT THAT GAP! read more

I was at The Grove yesterday afternoon with a friend. Who wanted to stop in Gap! We did for an hour and half. To buy one shirt that had to be ordered because his size shirt wasn't in the store. I won't go into detail as to why it took that long! just that if it wasn't for an awesome employee by the name of Angie. We would have walked out of Gap without making a purchase. Angie, thanks again for your customer service. We were very impressed on how you assist your coworkers in their jobs, when asked. While at the same time keeping your composure helping us. Went into the store at the grove this afternoon to buy some clothes for my son. The salesman Stanley showed me a few styles of clothes clearly not listening to what i asked for. I tried to redirect him but then a beautiful girl came in and asked him a question and that was the end of him helping me. he stated looking for items for her and checking for sizes for her. Sucks that one bad experience can make you not want to step foot into a store again. Don't usually shop at Gap but I had a gift card to use. Basically called into this store to ask about a size for a pair of selvedge jeans and the idiot who answered the phone, "Billy" had me on hold for about 15 minutes. THREE times in a row.(I kept having to hang up and call again) He kept saying he needed to transfer me but that it got busy and he forgot. What. the. eff. Then he gets on the phone and asks me to spell things out and laughs while saying it. I ended up submitting a complaint online. I went to this location on a Saturday evening and the lines weren't log, which is basically what I care most about. There were ample staff in the store on both floors and they were eager to help find items and sizes of garments if asked. I'm not to keen on this season's neon colors at the Gap, I shan't be walking around looking like a highlighter. read more

I was in LA for a wedding with my family last week (taking place the Saturday after Thanksgiving) and on Black Friday we discovered that neither my father or my little brother had brought the proper clothing with them! As crazy as that may sound, if you knew these guys you'd get how this could happen... so, I was in a total panic, being that it was Black Friday, I'm a little agoraphobic and this task was dealt to me to solve in under 2 hours. I rushed the boys over to the Grove and popped into Gap first, not really expecting to find anything great, but I thought we'd give it a go. To my surprise we were able to find the perfect outfits and have both of them looking like handsome chaps of within a few minutes. With the help of the excellent floor staff we had everything we needed were out of the mall and back to enjoying the holiday weekend in about 20 minutes total! read more

A Gap is a Gap and I have HUGE pride and loyalty to the brand since it started in San Francisco, but everyone is just about the same except for the employees. Andrew helped me at this location. asked to try on clothes, got the ok. after 30 seconds, someone is pounding on the door. After I reply, they say "oh" and walk away. i open the door and see it was a sales associate. after I am done changing, i go to pay. same woman. doesn't say one word. I returned my item due to poor customer service. to management, this employee was short, possibly hispanic, and was balding a bit but had long hair. I have had continuous problems and will no longer shop here because of her poor attitude. read more

Gap..what can you say. I like to shop at Gap once in a while. The customer service is decent. I do not like to be bothered too much by the helps while I am shopping....Gap seem to do a decent job of that. Quality of Gap clothes seem to have diminished over time...which is unfortunate. read more

Great location and nice interior space! Men's section for clothes seem limited, is this a flag ship store or a little ship? All the sales guys on the second floor are great, but one new inexperienced girl ( must have been her first day?) Gave bad bad customer service!!! I bought a braided leather belt and after a week it ripped so I tried to exchange it and she refused to allow me the return saying I cut the tag off... Duh, of course I cut it off I'm wearing it and I told her I have the receipt and it should last more than a week?? Thank goodness a manager stepped in and allowed the exchange I was about to explode on her. No wonder the Gap is not doing well with merchandise and people like her representing the Gap. I haven't been in a Gap for years, I was drawn into this one by a $10 off coupon. This Gap store is pretty large, Menswear upstairs, Ladies downstairs. This shop looked just as I remember it from all the others, fashionable jeans, shirts and casual / business casual clothes strategically placed to catch the shoppers' eye. I did see some very good looking clothes that I would normally wear as well as some really great sales going on. I asked a question to one of the employees, and after he explained it to me he called over the store manager, Vic, to help clarify some things. That's when the amazing service started. Vic started giving me unsolicited advice based on his experience of deals that I could accumulate based on promotions and current deals, in combination with my coupon, to save a great deal of money at this time. I was overwhelmed and took all his advice, saving a lot more than originally planned. Vic was getting more excited too, and seemed genuinely happy for helping me out. Let me just say that I really got my Gap clothes for a steal, and it really made my day. Great store and excellent service. read more

this particular store is big&nice cuz it's at the grove....but i personally haven't shopped at the gap since the4th grade&i shit you not....i've bought clothes&other things from here4my jr.high school cousins&sometimes they have cool perfumes, but their sizes run WAY TOO BIG for me, so if i were to shop at the gap, i'd go straight to baby gap or gap kids (but i don't). read more

I have usually had good experiences at the gap, but today pretty much ruined this place for me. I had called yesterday because I wanted to do a simple price adjustment and was told that it would be no problem. So I came in today and spoke with a very rude and patronizing woman. She told me that they wouldn't honor the adjustment that the other employee quoted for me. I understand that maybe I was asking for more than they could give me but if that was the case, they should have just said so from the get go. Instead this woman treated me like a child, telling me "you have to understand this from our point of view" and "you should always get the employees name when this happens". Excuse me?? I've been shopping at the gap for 10+ years, never have I been treated in such a manner! I had been thinking of buying a few more items after finishing the adjustment but I couldn't stand to be there anymore. That lady ruined the gap for me, instead I went over to madewell, where employees honor quotes and treat customers with more respect. read more

Just walked into the newly redesigned Gap at the Grove and did not like it at all. I'm a regular shopper there, but this redesign is awful so I'm likely to shop there less. To get to the men's section, you now have to go upstairs and around the children's shop ...about as far into the rear of the store as possible. (Perhaps this new placement is an indication of how much they value men shoppers). So, what used to be an open and easily accessible shopping experience now feels remote and cramped. The sales floor is jammed with high, boxy fixtures that make it hard to spot merchandise from across the floor. It's difficult to even find a sales counter or an employee (they get hidden behind the boxy fixture/sales station.) The only way I guessed who was a sales person was seeing that he was talking on a "land phone" rather than a mobile one. Do they really want to make it that hard to get sales help? I wish they'd go back to a customer-friendly sales floor. It will be interesting to see if business suffers (especially the men's dept.) If they want to improve business they should do it by providing well-designed clothes at fair prices which is their niche. Please make the shopping experience pleasant, not a cramped treasure hunt. read more
