This is a large-ish store and there was a super nice guy working the counter. I picked up a couple of shirts for dirt cheap minus another 40% off. Sadly, there was no other help visible in this large store and it took me waiting in line with said shirts to find out that Gap Body was down the block and across the street. read more

My experience was totally different than Itty's. I personally don't care about being greeted when I walk into a store. (More often than not I find it annoying to get accosted as soon as I enter a store.) Regardless, I found great clothes on sale and put together a great, HUGE tower of gifts for a newborn for less than $100. The staff was happy to put my selections on hold while I browsed some other stores for an hour, and they gave me plenty of boxes and ribbon so the wrapping looked as good as the things inside. read more

As far as Gaps go, this one's fine. I don't think the selection for men is very good, but the people are helpful and the changing rooms are generally pretty clean. If you're like me and you don't like people asking "can I help you," then you'll definitely like this place because the dozen or so times I've been there never once has a person offered to help me. read more

I went to this store a few days ago I asked for an outfit for my girlfriend and the lady who helped went the extra mile to make sure I got some really nice outfits for my girlfriend bday. My GF was so happy when she saw them. Thank you Gap for the help. read more

Busy, Busy, Busy! The Gap was filled with Sunday shoppers. There was a few associates on the floor helping customers. I was looking for a particular item, so I began looking for someone to assist me. Within a minute, I found a nice associate to help me. I inquired about the item I was looking for and the associate walked me to the three possible locations. In addition, she pointed out the different styles and colors available. Thank you! I really appreciate the time the associate spent with me. I ended up spending an absurd amount of money because of her great customer service. Thank you for hiring associates who take the time to WALK a customer to an item, rather than point. At checkout, the male associate was friendly and folded my clothes perfectly before putting them in the bag. I will be back! read more

Unhelpful staff in Baby GAP. All I needed was some help with pulling right size clothes out of their piles. I got 7 items, and it would make it faster and easier on my child (and on the sales people ears, because I came with my toddler) if someone was helping me. Instead the girl behind the counter chatted with a friend of hers who just walked into the store. When I asked her to help she only showed me where in the store I can find clothes for my child's age while totally ignoring what I really aksed for. She looked like she did not care at all. She also misled me about availability of some items. They don't want my business? Well, fine. read more

I had a really difficult and weird exchange to do and Eugene helped me and made it work. She didn't make me feel bad about the transaction and she did a lot running around to find what I needed. I don't shop here but a friend dragged me in. My only advice is to enter from the Baby Gap side (which is connected to the main store, yet has it's own door to the street) because no one will bombard you with HELLOS when you walk in. It's just easier to slip in unnoticed and shop in peace for a few minutes undetected. Prices are too high for uninspired shirts you can buy anywhere for a hellava lot cheaper in my opinion. read more

Horrible customer service!! Had sign on sidewalk with $10 tee shirt. Nobody could tell me where they were. Found out no longer on sale wouldn't honor sign. When I asked they pointed their finger and said maybe over there. Ugh horrible, walked out. read more

Gap, I hardly know you! You've been frumpy for years, and all of a sudden you've done a much marketed, but mostly ignored refit of your pants and jeans. They fit perfectly, and cost under $60. Go give them a try. read more

Their clothes selection is pretty decent. I have no complaints about this store! The store is clean and appealing. I would much rather come to this location than the downtown one just because of proximity to my house. read more

I have to say that the customer service provided by Nicole at the 2159 Chestnut St GAP store is the worst I've ever encountered. I was directed to the store by personnel from Corte Madera, to pickup merchandise that the GAP Merchandise Locator indicated was at the Chestnut St store. After driving all the way to SF, I found the store closed at 5:30pm on a Saturday, an hour and a half earlier than the time posted in the window of 7pm. When I asked Nicole for help, she stated she closed early due to poor sales that day. When I asked if she could at least check inventory for the item I drove to purchase, she stated that she was closed for "Special Holiday Hours", and I would have to return at a later date. I also asked if she could call the GAP store located on Jefferson St to check for the item, and she replied "You can get the number and call yourself, I'm closed!". In this economy, I'm amazed that she was unwilling to provide any customer service. I would advice everyone to stay away from the 2159 Chestnut St store . There is no service provided. read more

While shopping for a gift for a friend's new baby, I tried to put myself in that baby's metaphorical shoes. If I were a baby, I wouldn't want some patches of scratchy material or tight elastic bands touching my soft little body. I would want organic material. There's a great organic line here that's a bit on the boring side, but much more baby-friendly and better for the environment, considering babies outgrow their clothes within about 3 months. Many other clothes appeared extremely uncomfortable. It would probably make me cry. read more

I love the clothes at Gap & love to shop at my leisure without pressure. It REALLY turns me off to see sales managers stressing to the salespeople to sell sell sell. I was at the Chestnut St Gap recently & the manager said she will "dance on the counter top" if the sales people sold more product. UGH. The salespeople here are great & don't need to be pressured to sell more clothes. read more

This store is the worst. Everything is so messy and unorganized. The Sale people are not helping at all. They keep talking to each other, instead of serving customers. Everyone works there seems to hate his/her job and take it out on customers. Gap has reputation for abusing their workers. I have seen the managers yell at employees for no reasons. The store manager is aweful and act like a witch. Hopefully, Gap will replace her. read more

I haven't been into a gap in years, but I saw something in the window that caught my eye. I went in and the staff took things off the mannequin and found sizes with no hesitation. I found three new items and did it in less than 30 mins. Very pleased. read more
