I went to Garage 75 for a happy hour event on a Friday afternoon. I thought the layout of the bar was fun; while I did not play any of the arcade games on this visit, I may do so in the future. The wine selection was less than I hoped it to be; this is mostly a beer and cocktails place. However, I enjoyed the wine I chose. My table and I ordered several rounds of appetizers but not a proper entrée. I was impressed with the nachos and flatbreads. The mac and cheese and the grilled rainbow carrots were good. However, the crab dip tasted spoiled. Our server was kind and attentive. I anticipate revisiting Garage 75 for the excellent service, flatbreads, and nachos. read more

This is a nice local place on James Island. It's a bar/restaurant/gaming area. The arcade area is fun for kids while waiting on food. Food is above average bar style food. I got a Philly Cheesesteak and it was pretty good. It's a great family atmosphere and loud making it perfect for younger kids. Look forward to trying more selections. The hostess and servers are great. The food is very subpar. The menu is very limited and I don't mean just the choices available but that pretty much everything affordable comes with their house chips as the side item and if you want to substitute for anything else, it's $2 up charge... This can quickly add up for families or larger parties that may not like or be able to eat fried potato chips as an option. The Philly cheesesteak sub did not have enough steak meat and had so much cheese that it over powered the steak flavor. The meat itself did not seem to be seasoned with anything, not even a dash of salt or pepper. The ribs were pretty good overall. Extremely fatty on two of the three portions. However the tallow wedges were laid on top of the chipotle sauce not giving you the option and ability to control how much you wanted on your fries or even the ribs. Some pieces of the wedges were so thick, they were grossly under cooked inside.. and the smaller ones were cooked too much. I can't help but feel like most of the positive reviews are coming from people that just don't get off the island too much! Not sure if we will try this place again... read more

I was cruising on Folly Road looking for take out. I spotted Garage 75, a place I've never been before. In the rain I sat in the parking lot and called to order. After 15 minutes I went inside to pick up my takeout. My only concern was that none of the patrons wearing their masks and were walking around the place. The waitstaff all wore their masks and were careful about social distancing. When I got home I found the food to be well packed up and well prepared. I was surprised by the superior bar food. My burger, on a brioche bun was properly cooked and prepared for takeout. The fries were big and seasoned, a cut above the ordinary french fry. read more

The worst food experience I've ever had. My coworker decided to get us some from here and my order was horrible. ( I paid him to get the food) The food was dry, hard and overcooked. It appeared that the food was sitting for a while. I called about my order and the person on the phone got smart with me. He asked "well what do you want me to do?" Excuse me?! I decided to place another order, in exchange for the first one. He told me to bring the first (horrible) order in and I did. When I returned to the restaurant, he told me that I had to pay for the new order. Who makes their customers pay for their mistake? I refuse to pay. He didn't offer to give me a refund not once. I should not have to pay in exchange for the order that they messed up. I will NEVER come here again. Zero stars. read more

I gave this place a shot for lunch and was very happy with the $7.99 lunch special which that day was fried fish, mashed potatoes and green beans. The fish was a good portion and nice and flaky, the mashed potatoes were really good and the green beans excellent. Quick service and the remodel from the last place looks good and was needed. I highly suggest the pimento cheese biscuit sliders... the ultimate comfort food. The atmosphere is bar like with lots of TVs to watch a game. It is kid friendly since there is an arcade in the room adjoining the bar. It is car themed with "car-tails" instead of cocktails. There is car paraphernalia on the walls and an American flag in the window. The wait staff is friendly and relaxed. I've come to the point that whenever I'm flying somewhere for a meal the obvious choice is Charleston and it's many excellent restaurants. This was yet another time that did not disappoint what I've come to expect. At a recommendation from a local I thought I'd try out Garage 75. The dining gods blessed me by it being Monday and their half price burger deal. The meal was excellent; the meat was cooked exactly the way I had asked for and tasted delicious, the waitress was polite and didn't hover or fall off the edge of the earth, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. read more

Hmm I had a hard time rating this one. I give my highest rating to a great wait staff. They were all very attentive and even came to find us in the game area when our food was served and The manager even stopped by our table to make sure we were pleased. I also give a great rating for food. The portions were ample and tasty and their menu offers so much more than the average bar food. The only draw back for me was the gaming room. Don't get me wrong it's a great idea but the room feels disconnected and there was a strong odor coming from the drain in the middle of the floor. Great place for great bar food! read more

If I could give less stars, I would. I was stoked to find this place since my 5 year old loves arcades. But we waited an hour for dinner. When we checked in on our order, the server wouldn't even engage with us because we ordered from the bar and so they don't get any tip on it (according to her). Then the manager, who was working the bar, assured me that our food was coming right up, when it had never been placed. Kids pizza came out after an hour and 15 minutes ( at 5:30 guys. The place wasn't busy). And they forgot my dinner all together. When I asked the manager if he planned to comp the meal for the huge blunder, he said no and that they didn't want my business anyway. This is one of our favorite places to eat on James Island. We stopped in for lunch today and started with the Loaded Scottish Nachos. They brine their own corned beef for this unique take on a classic made with sauerkraut and housemade chips. The boys had the special of the day (a monster burger and chips) while I wanted something a bit different. I received a plate of fried shrimp, slaw, and chips. Ten large shrimp cooked perfectly, for $12. Twelve dollars! What a deal. I'm not a big slaw fan, but, I cleaned my plate of their slaw. It was simple but accented with feta that added just the right amount of zing. Dessert was apple cobbler served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This place is an absolute sleeper. My roommates suggested it a few months ago when we needed a place to grab some quick and fairly cheap dinner, preferably somewhere we hadn't been. I was doubtful when we parked. It's in a small strip of stores, and I'd only noticed it a few times when driving by on Folly, and DEFINITELY never heard anything about it before. But this is why you can't judge on first impressions I guess. Great service with a pretty full menu of all the classics, and all done well. I'm pretty sure we all got cheesesteaks that night, and it was all great. Homemade chips and a bunch of great sandwiches. The waiter tried to sell us on a steak dinner that sounded like a great deal, so I guess I still need to head back and try that. We were seated in the arcade area and given our menus. We waited at least 10 mins before we were greeted by a server I was unsure why because it was not busy, so by then we all knew what we wanted. We let our server know our drink and food order after she left myself and kids got some game cards and played some games for about 10mins I kept looking back at my table looking for drinks and the table was still empty. Then my server approached me and told me they did not have the item my daughter and I ordered. No big deal I got something else. I played games for about 15 mins and finally went back to my table and still no drinks I waited about 5 more min and finally asked the server behind me who was clearing a table if she knew why we still hadn't received our drinks. She went and checked for me. Soon after I received my drinks. Later when our food arrived i again was not impressed and this is not a norm for me I usually find the delightful. I ordered the fries fish bites and what I received was a bowl of soggy fish crumbles and maybe two bites. I requested my daughters kid shrimp be grilled instead of fried and they indeed grilled them but they seasoned them so heavy with spice they were to intense for a kid to eat. Her fries were very soggy and the chips we received were also soggy and heavily seasoned with the Salt they were over bearing to eat. I usually am not one to say anything but since more than one item was not tasteful I felt complied to say something. It's great for everyone, large enough to accommodate families, and it is split in two so that one side is bar and booths and the other is an arcade and tables, with access to the bar. They had tables reserved specifically for us...even had our company name on the chalk board out front welcoming us! The food---Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, 1/2 chickens, TO-DIE-FOR Brussel Sprouts and chicken fingers and fruit for the kids was beyond great! How great is it that we had a Prime Rib carver in the game room area!?!!! We had home-made Banana Pudding for dessert...absolutely mouth watering!! Definitely has awesome food and a cool atmosphere. It's nice to have another good place to watch football on the Island and while the arcade wasn't fully functional (some of the machines aren't up) it still looks like it will be a great place to hang out. Only downside is that since it's new service wasn't all that great. We had no one greet us, our server forgot my beer and messed up our order after we repeated it twice. We had to repeatedly ask for silverware. And it wasn't a super busy night. We know we'll be back because both of us thought the food was delicious and we like the atmosphere. Had Laura's a birthday party for for the Final Four basketball game and the Staff went above and beyond to help make it a special night. Dana allowed me to reserve a 10 top in the arcade. Maggie accepted and stored birthday cake and balloons the day before so when we arrived for game time, table was set up beautifully! Pleasantly surprised. Definitely had a bar/pub atmosphere. Was very loud but the owner was awesome and turned down the sound some. We went on a Sunday afternoon before the games started but it was filling up with football fans but it also had a family feel to it. Very kid friendly. The food was excellent. My kids really enjoyed their burgers and fresh fruit. One had the tenders. definitely much better food than an Applebee's kids meal (just for comparison). I had a Philly cheesesteak and potato wedges. So good! I couldn't eat my sandwich there because I filled up from the yummy potatoes. My husband's chicken sandwich was spot on. Super juicy and flavored perfectly. The homemade chips are EXCELLENT! After lunch we enjoyed some games in the arcade area. You can tell the owner wants your dinning experience to be a good one. I was excited to bring my friend here who is new to the area for dinner. We didn't know it was Monday half of burger night until we got into the restaurant. We were immediately seated, but had to flag down the waiter to get our order in. Once it was in, it took over an hour for the food to reach out table. The excuse from the waiter was "the grill is too small for the demand of burger night". The people sitting next to us sat down 15 minutes after us and received their burgers 15 minutes before us. Great food, friendly service! Four of us stopped in for a quick dinner just before 10p on a Fri night. We were nervous about being "those people", but the staff was really accommodating and great. Full menu service until 10p and smaller menu until 1am(?). Takes the pressure off ordering from the full menu right at 10p. We ordered three Big Ern burgers and a Crab Cake BLT. All were perfectly delicious! The burger was big, juicy, perfect temp, and made w Duke's mayo. Burgers come w chips, but I upgraded w the Garage Slaw (Cole slaw made w blue cheese and lots of bacon). All of us ate every bite we could and left fully satisfied & happy. Solid list of local beers to choose from, plus the standard popular brews. Loads of TVs.
