I have heard good things about this place, and I was very disappointed, especially at the treatment from the owner last night. There were three of us in our party, and all three ordered the ribeye, medium rare. When they arrived, mine was definitely medium, acknowledged by the server. He took it back and despite me referencing my companions' orders being cooked as ordered, the owner brought my steak back to me saying basically that was the best I was going to get. He was very rude, and after some conversation, I mentioned writing a review on yelp. At that point he came back to our table with a pen and paper and asked for my full name so he could respond to my comments which seemed a bit odd. I then asked for what I thought was a reasonable compromise. . .an order of wings in place of my steak, but I was told that was not an option. I was not even offered a discount on my bill. I dine out frequently in Charleston, both for business and pleasure, and I understand there are going to be times when orders are not going to come out specific to your request. However, I have never been treated with the disrespect shown by this establishment's owner. read more

I am not even going to bother giving this a rating, As it is that bad. The customer service was fairly good, the food was perhaps the worst I have ever tried. My first complaint is that if you want to substitute any side it will cost you two dollars extra even if you were buying something that technically would be of lesser value. The french fries if you can call them that were under cooked potatoes mixed with smaller overcooked fries and I ordered the Philly cheesesteak Add mayonnaise. What I got was an oversized bun filled with cheese as the meat was nowhere near a serving size for a Philly cheesesteak In fact I couldn't even taste the freaking meat and the cook was apparently afraid of mayonnaise. The only reason I can think that this place is able to stay in business is that Folly Beach attracts a lot of tourists so they have a constant supply of out of town suckers to steal their money with food that should technically be classified as weapons grade nasty. read more

We decided to try out this place last night after reading other great reviews. It's very kid friendly with video games ($0.50-$1.00). They also had trivia last night, not sure if that's a regular thing for Thursdays, but it was entertaining. It was clean, except for some water on the floor. Tables were cleaned quickly after guests left. We sat on the arcade side, so we had no issue with cigarette smoke. There is also outside seating, if you prefer that. The food: first of all, kids eat free on Tuesdays. We ordered the corn dog meal, a grilled cheese meal, and and the mac and cheese meal. Everything came out looking great. The mac and cheese did taste a little bland, but after adding salt/pepper it was pretty good. The other two meals were fine. My husband and I both ordered the Nash Vegas. I went bunless and subbed Brussel sprouts. The sprouts were amazing. My husband even approved. The chicken was great too. Perfectly cooked and moist. He got the slaw as a side. It was pretty good too, though not as good as my sprouts. Pricing was fine for the quality and amount of food you get. Also a great adult beverage selection if you want something a little different. So, we will be back. Maybe Tuesday. My kids are already asking to return. read more

This is a great local spot on James Island with friendly service, tasty drinks, and interesting bar food. I say interesting because they use ingredients like Sriracha in some of their dishes. They have the typical bar food you see at other places but also plenty of restaurant quality dishes. They seem to have some new special every time I go. This was the old Max and Henry's spot, but it has been revamped and classed up, but not too much. Gotta keep that JI feel. They have a lot more games now including lots of old school pinball machines, hoop fever, etc. This is a nice go to spot when you need to change it up from your typical bar. read more

First time ever checking out garage 75. Visiting friends in town, they suggested Garage 75 for a good local place to grab dinner. They had a HUGE arcade for the kids and a great bar selection for the adults. Our server Melissa was attentive and had a smile every time she came to our table. It was great feel so welcomed to a family friendly restaurant. You can tell the staff is ran good management. As for food, The ribeye was suggested to us and we're glad we tried it. GREAT steak! Great spot to grab a drink after work. Their kitchen is open late which is convenient for people like me who work late/weird hours. Bartenders have all been super friendly and Chelsea is awesome. they do half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays and other food/drink specials almost every night. It does get a little loud with live music/volume on the TVs plus the arcade but they're always busy each time I've been and seem to have a loyal group of regulars. I asked for them crispy, the way I like them, and they actually came out that way. There garlic parmesan flavor was the best I have had anywhere, they were picture perfect to boot. I usually don't go that far towards folly, but when I get a hankering for wings I will go there from now on. I will have to try something else one day, but I crave chicken wings in the cooler months. The downside was the police had to remove people from right behind our table while we are trying to have dinner. That creates a really screwed up atmosphere. No attempt by the management to make it right with us for the interruption to our meal. However, liked the burgers and fries. Wait staff is very nice, food came quickly and was hot. Reeves Tinkler has done it again! After the news that Cha Cha's was not going to remain open due to the property being sold the group decided to make a move on the former Max & Henry's. Renovations took a bit longer then expected, but after some changes they have created a cool spot, much better suited to serve food, as well as support a late night crowd. As far as the food is concerned, there is a really cool local first vibe in regards to the menu, which will change with the season. They have great specials, and the regular menu has something to suit any appetite. I think like a fine wine, this place will only get better with time (Just look at Smokey Oak). The staff is friendly, and the new comers really make a point to get to know the regulars. I drink beer, and the prices are fair for both HH and regular business hours. The only complaint I have heard is from my liquor drinking friends that drinks are poured a little short, but businesses don't become successful by giving away the house. Two of the four games we played did not keep score correctly and it was truly like being in someones garage (haha, get it?). They advertise free darts on their website but don't actually have a dart board, so that was kind of weird too. I went with an EXTREMELY competitive person so you can imagine the emotional roller coster that ensued when I won due to the scoring device on the air hockey giving me TWO points for a shot (two games in a row - I know, fool me once right?). To say the least this restaurant has ruined my entire visit to Folly. The food was made at the entrance of hell, seeing as it left my cousins and I on and off the toilet for hours. Vomiting, explosive bowl movements, and severe abdominal cramping was felt by all four of us. The flatbread was too rancid to even smell, the cheese was dry and toad-skin-like while the sauce looked like a toddler's vomit. It was essentially a budget freezer pizza but far worse. The pizza was not the only shortcoming, My cousin was aghast at the absolute failure that was a duck sandwich. He ended up dry heaving outside the car on the way home. My meal, the spring, rolls were good at first but with every bite I could feel my risk of heart disease rising. If I had wanted the experience of those spring rolls i would have had a glass of pure oil. Not only was the food actually so rancid the environment was anything but enjoyable. I almost had someone break down the door two times when I was in the bathroom. To be nauseated, surrounded by flashing lights, and yelling toddlers made me want to meet god. read more

The owner really gets the industry and goes out of his way to make sure things are done right.
