He'll ask cash in advance to buy the parts before starting the repair/install. You are a business owner, you should have enough capital to buy the parts and finish the job before charging customers!! One time he didn't give me the receipt despite asking many times. I needed the receipt for proof of warranty and as a rental owner, need it for tax reporting. If you pay by check, he'll say the price I quoted you was cash. Sounds like he's trying to avoid income tax reporting, thus not giving customer's receipt. As good as it gets sums it for these guys. I called Saturday evening after coming home with broken springs on very heavy wood garage doors. The doors were so heavy that my wife, son, and I could not open them to get our car out. David arranged his schedule to come Saturday morning. Our garage door right cable was broken I called David made an appointment and showed the new cables which I bought from Home Depot when he looked those cable the he was not satisfied with that cables then he repaired the the existing cables and torque the spring up to required tension. When he opened the garage he was not satisfy the results ( I called an other repair person couple months ago he replaced the springs which were not the right combination causing too much tension ) David disassemble the springs and he put new spring and re torque after that garage door works excellent I was very pleased with his service and technical knowledge. Just bought a home and go at recommendation from my contractor to use David as I want to change old chain type system on my garage door. Called up David, he is professional and gave me options what I could do. Set up a time and day to do it. He had some delay on the day but he called earlier to inform me and still came in to get my garage door fixed even though it was late. What surprises me was I did a similar change in my previous house a yr ago, David charged me less and gave me a better product, I now have the quiet belt system from lift master, and can open/close from my cell versus the last one I did, which is only changing to belt system and it was more expensive!
