I don't know how this place is not rated as a five star. Wife and I were south bound on 81 and yelp'd this location just because of the name. If I had a trailer hitch I would be dragging this joint back to Virginia with me.... amazing food. I had the chorizo tacos and wife had the fried avocado taco. I am not a vegetarian but that avocado taco... OMG. Dude behind the counter said all the filling stuff is freshly made in house. I will be back. BTW. I tried their corn dog appetizer too. I travel all over the world for work. So reviewing food and beer hAs been a second sort of habit. I seen this come up a few times during my travels I to this area the past year, and so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is great. The service is poor. The server was not helpful with finding connection with my ordering. The prices are all on the higher end drinks, and food. It definitely doesn't match what you receive. The tacos which are supposed to be the staple I found excited to order but definitely did not match what was explained. The steak says it is of a filet cut, and it was of a roast. The marinated chicken was not grilled it was microwaved at best. The pork was probably the best and was mediocre. The presentation was fair , and looking at it couldn't even tell between each. I don't recommend this place unless you are coming for hApppy hour cheaper drinks, and the nachos guac was deCent! read more

I've been to the garage a dozen times and love it. It's a hip spot needed in the area. The food is delicious and is served with large portions. My favorite is the chicken tacos with fries The drinks are STRONG! The margaritas are great and half off on Monday. I recommend sharing a pitcher of the "Broke" Margs with friends. The decor is beautiful, it is a renovated car garage and they use items from the old business as lighting fixtures and decoration. The staff is so friendly. Hip locals with lots of knowledge around food. I was served by "Ashley" and she was so kind and friendly! Binghamton doesn't have Mexican food like this! So I was actually a sous chef down in Dallas, Tx for a few years before moving back to NY. As far as Tex-mex style taquerias go, y'all are top notch in my book. Very cute place, reminds me of a beach bar and the staff is very nice. But, I'm disappointed to say, the food is bland and unsatisfying The pork and the steak in the tacos was tasty but there was such a small amount it didn't matter. Don't get the Spanish rice which is just mushy and so bland that salt & pepper didn't even help. The guacamole, again, we had to add salt pepper and lime juice to try and get some FLAVOR. It's great looking and the deck is sweat super, nice people working there, but there food is not so good. The portions of food are tiny, but that is the saving grace, because the food it's self is awful. The beans are straight out of a can (not even warned up), the meat was salty but otherwise flavorless and I don't know what is going on with the tortilla, are they baking them? I came here on a Monday night with my friend. The atmosphere was quite lax with a pinch of hipster vibes. The service was slow even though there were only two other tables seated. We ordered the Garage Platter as our appetizer. It was decently sized and a nice way to start off a meal, aside from the soggy tortilla chips here and there. I originally wanted to try their fish taco, but unfortunately they ran out. In the end we ordered a chicken taco and a steak taco with rice and beans at the side. The rice was hard and flavorless. If I were to rate the tacos based on their presentation, it was decent. However, taste-wise they were lacking. Overall, the price was not worth for ordinary tasting tacos. read more

I totally get that it's limited capacity, and that we're still finding our way out of a pandemic, but as someone who worked in food service during the pandemic myself, I was very disappointed in the staff interactions. It was clearly slammed, and my heart goes out to how stressful that can be as a server, but you don't discourage your guests from sitting because the wait time is too long, you don't ignore a request to have drinks while they wait (even if that isn't allowed, fine--communicate that to the guests who just paid for the drinks and takeout and are waiting), and you don't leave their food sitting in the station for 15m after it's ready. I only got our food by going up to bother the woman who put our order in in the first place, even though we were sitting in eyesight of her the entire time we waited (nearly 40m). She didn't acknowledge that we'd been sitting there, never mentioned the drink request that her colleague said we could not have while waiting (in earshot, annoyed), and my pregnant wife hurried across the street with our chips to eat while I waited for our last drink to come in plastic cups we could have avoided by just having our drinks while waiting. Do yourself a favor and do not plan to sit down here while it's busy--order beforehand or have a large enough group to make a reservation. The food itself was very good... we ate it at a picnic table across the way to avoid it getting even colder in the car since it sat there for so long. read more

Polite and accommodating service and great atmosphere (we ate inside but can eat outside at metal tables with fire pits but city noise). Pick your own table and then go up to order at the counter when ready. Menu read like there were some great choices and we ordered a selection of things and unfortunately everything missed big time. Nachos were gross with liquid cheeses and meat that has a strange seasoning. A few tacos a la carte (one chicken and two meat) and sort of liked one. Garage Burrito that also missed on flavor like the nachos and tacos. The pico was good... really the only thing. Also the margaritas were very sweet. Service was a bit slow (otherwise I'd give it 5 stars) but I think it's something they'll work out with time- we didn't realize we could place our order while we were having a drink at the bar. My wife and I are from California and very much used to amazon Mexican food. This restaurant is the best Mexican vegetarian place I've ever been to (they have meat options, too). If you were to plop it down into San Francisco or San Diego, it would have a line out the door. An amazing concept in terms of decor, too. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. read more

The building is quite literally a garage transformed into a charming restaurant. Upon arrival I was given a menu which were these awkward used half sheets of computer paper. We started off our order with chips, guacamole, salsa Verde, and queso. After waiting 15 minutes, the queso was liquid with hardly any flavor, and was not what i was expecting at all. The guacamole was deliciously full of cilantro (perfect), and the salsa Verde was ok. She ordered chicken tacos and I ordered chicken quesadilla both with sprites, which took another 15-20 minutes to our table. Our bill came out to around $32 Later on in the evening we were both sick with food poisoning.
