I've waited a while to write this because the owners of MG Floors are friendly, personable people…read more They offer a low-pressure sales environment and were great about letting us keep samples for an extended time. However, after a few years of living with the results, I feel obligated to warn others: being nice does not equal quality workmanship or professional accountability. We were very clear about our "active kid" lifestyle (cleats, sports bags, etc.). We were assured multiple times that Luxury Vinyl Plank was a great durable option for us. We purchased one of their more expensive LVP lines (Coretec), yet it has performed significantly worse than the "low-quality 90s laminate" it replaced. The LVP is covered in dents and scratches from all the same normal things the laminate flooring handled without a blemish for many years. Installation week was a mess. Despite being home to answer questions, the crew made executive decisions without consulting us, many of which had to be corrected later. They didn't provide us with arrival times or communicate about the progress unless we asked, and even then they didn't show up at the times they gave us. The only phone number provided was the office number so there wasn't anyone to call for an update when they didn't arrive as expected. We were also hit with a surprise bill for extra leveling compound (they quoted us 3 bags but used 24 which was an additional $735), which makes the eventual failure of the leveling (details below) even more frustrating. Our furniture was moved around and stacked in whatever room they weren't working in and all of it had dents and dings in it when they were finished. They also had to come back and replace the new flooring in one room where they had rolled our piano over it, leaving indentations behind from its heavy weight. We incorrectly assumed underlayment would be included because every other estimate we got included it but MG chose not to use underlayment because it was "recommended, not required" and we didn't realize this until they were halfway done with installation. Every contractor we've spoken to since has shaken their head at this. We began to notice issues with the flooring itself only a couple months in and these have progressively worsened. We had a small bump in the kitchen floor from day one. MG came back to look at it and said they could not help us and suggested we contact the manufacturer (Shaw/Coretec) to escalate which we did. The representative determined the subfloor was not leveled properly and deemed this an installation problem. Despite their own suggestion to involve the manufacturer, MG Floors refused to fix the issue unless we paid them to come back and repair it (we did not). That spot has now cracked. Additionally, small flooring pieces near the edges of our cabinets weren't glued down and they've now slipped out of place under the quarter round, leaving visible gaps at the edges of the floor. MG installed new baseboards as part of the job which they painted after installation, essentially painting them to the floor. Now, there are large, ugly cracks in the paint where the two meet. Photos are included to illustrate what an eyesore this is. We reached out to MG multiple times via email, phone, and in person, and pleaded with them to make this right but they took zero accountability for their installation errors or their poor recommendations for our lifestyle. The only resolution they offered was for us to pay them more money to come back and replace individual damaged planks of flooring. Needless to say, we declined. If you want a floor that lasts more than six months and a company that stands behind their work, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The sales reps are very agreeable and are good salesmen...confident in their products/service and make lots of promises. Have a pretty quick turnaround with ordering and install. Depending on the scope of project, they send in a large crew to get in and get the job done. Cons: The quality of the job lies in whatever crew and Project Manager gets assigned to your project. The sales rep becomes a middle man of trying to give "the customer is always right" vibe (or "let's keep the customer happy") AND "got to keep the PM happy or he'll probably leave the job with his crew". Sales rep will say, "yes, we can do that, let's make it right." Then the PM comes in and says, "the slab was uneven, that's normal, nothing we can do about it." The "we can fix this portion of the job, it's easy, just need to do this..." then becomes "choose the worst couple of spots and we'll fix those" because of pushback and excuses from the crew. No quality control. I'm giving two stars because they did a good job with our carpet installs, and our Sales Reps were nice guys. Just wish our "nice guys" could have had a crew that knew what they were doing and took more pride in their work. I've talked to other customers that had other crews work on their projects, and they did not have any of the same issues as we did. And they were surprised when they saw the pictures I'm posting.

It was a difficult time to find services for our new home and we settled on Lonestar Carpet for all of our carpet and laminate flooring based on a handful of online reviews that looked promising. The sales rep we had told us we were getting the best of the best (price was not our biggest concern as we wanted good value and longevity) and that we would get years of good use and value from our $8k + purchase with his company. Red flags- Right away there were problems. The pad we ordered was not the pad that showed up on installation day and one of the installers told my husband that he had never installed flooring before that day. When we called, the rep told us that he had misquoted us for the wrong pad and getting the correct pad would add thousands of dollars and weeks of time to our install. We were frustrated but we made the call, we didn't have weeks to wait. We had already put off moving in to get this job scheduled After installation- The installation of the laminate flooring was shoddy and the transitions started popping up right away. We also noticed seams in our carpets within a few months. We tried to call several times and got no answer. The companies who provided the materials refused to talk to us, sending us back to our rep. We ran in circles. It is what it is- The time in our life was incredibly chaotic and we made the decision to do what we could to mitigate the issues and moved on with life. Looking back, I wish I would have had the bandwidth to push harder or drive to their corporate office to talk face to face, but things in 2020 were difficult and we let it go. 2023- time for new laminate- The problems with the laminate had gotten so bad we decided to replace it once and for all. We found another company with lifetime product and installation warranties and set the date. My husband pulled up the old flooring and the reason for all of the lifting and cupping became very obvious. There was no moisture barrier installed on the concrete sun floor, no preparation of any kind, nothing. We looked up the installation manual for the flooring (we still had a box in the garage) and found a guide from 2017 stating that a moisture barrier of at least 6mm must be installed on concrete sub floors. "We could just walk away" - We called the rep, he and his boss took two days to get back to us. When he called us with his answer it was that "the company changed its policy on moisture barriers in DEC of 2020 and since our floors were installed in August of 2020 "we could just walk away from you." He went on to say "the floors have no warranty, zip" and "we don't have to do anything to help you." When I tried to tell him I had found something from 2017 indicating that was not correct he talked over me, became agitated, and told me that his company would "go above and beyond" by filling out a claim form against the flooring manufacturer. In short, Lonestar Carpet was not going to do anything to stand behind its work or its customer. Their "above and beyond" was to fill out a claim form, which the sales rep told me repeatedly he "didn't have to do." Take aways- There are a lot of flooring companies with excellent reputations. Many of them stand behind their products and services with lifetime installation warranties representing companies who offer the same on their products. Why would you choose a company that considers it "above and beyond" to fill out a form and pass the buck to the manufacturer? Why would you choose a company who employs sales representatives who yell at and blame their customers? I feel that my family and I were taken advantage of in many ways by this company. I will not be having them fill out a claim form, or provide any other services for me and I am warning as many people who will listen to shop around. Flooring is a huge investment, it is supposed to last a long time, the company you choose will be represented in your home for years. We learned the hard way so you don't have to.

Working with Gomez Floors has been one of the best experiences I've had as a consumer. Ever. I would hands-down recommend Gomez Flooring to anyone and everyone with flooring needs. From the moment I stepped into their showroom on Burnet Rd, I was treated respectfully and with honesty. I spoke directly with the owner, Mr. Gomez, and his son, Javier. Both were professional and knowledgable. I knew what I wanted to pay, and they did not try to upsell me something more expensive, but worked with me on my budget and answered all my questions. I picked out some samples to take home so my wife and I could match the color and texture we wanted. Very nice process. Their prices were great too. I was quoted the installation upfront. Every other Flooring place I spoke to (three others) auto-included bags of cement in their pricing to level the floors, as if it was a requirement. Mr. Gomez told me from the start that it was a possibility, but they only charged per bag that was needed (spoiler, I didn't need any bags of cement to level my floors). Their prices were the best I found. As for the installation, they did an amazing job! 1000 sq ft of hardwood installed (glue down) in one day, including tearing out the carpet! Please realize though, this probably depends on a number of factors; whether the crews are available, the layout of the house, etc. I also moved as much furniture and knick knacks out of the way as possible, so the guys only had to move the heavier furniture before starting. Carlos and his crew (Urdial and Fito) started the install, and another 3 guys showed up later in the day. These guys are true professionals. Honest, respectful, and hard working! The floors are gorgeous. As a side note, the installation causes a ton of dust. Even though the guys wiped the furniture and cleaned the floors with mineral spirits before they left, be prepared to wipe down your whole house again afterwards. If I had known this, I would have covered my clothes in the master closet with plastic bags. Oh well, live and learn. I cannot recommend Gomez Floors enough. I'm completely thrilled with the whole experience; this is one of the few times I don't feel taken advantage of, but am happy to pay for the work performed. *This is a real review of services rendered, I'm not affiliated with Gomez Floors in any way.

They were able to do both our projects in a single day, which included tearing out the carpet. Waited another few weeks to have them start demo on a Tuesday to disconnect stove, water, sink and dishwasher, and waited til Friday for installation of counters. Was originally planned for Thursday but due to miscommunication I wasted a full Thursday waiting to find out no one was coming. Came the following week to do backsplash and complete the job. For future reference, I would get an estimated timeframe from start to finish. Scheduling and communication seemed to lack and had difficulty trying to make my personal plans around them so I basically couldn't plan ahead for anything for 1 1/2 weeks. When I mentioned this to my sales associate he was very specific of a 3-4 day start/finish that was never mentioned to us, nor estimated in our contract. Well, we were way over their timeframe based on the wait time of scheduling. Since we had to go without sink water since Tuesday, a plumber came out Saturday to reconnect sink, stove and dishwasher for the weekend until completion the following week. I feel that the daily teams did a great job however I feel that my associate person could have given everything a thorough inspection, especially on completion day. Pictures and admiration does not pass as a full inspection. We ended up not having silicone caulk between the counters and backsplash therefore the grout was cracking, there were some quartz blemishes that needed touch up, electrical outlets were having problems, etc. and I had to make my own punch list for followup which again was not reinspected by my associate. So for over a two week period the job from start to finish was complete. I ended up caulking the counter to backsplash since nothing was scheduled, it was always next week.....not a scheduled day. I surrendered. Before this begun, full payment was done therefore I felt that they were done with us and left it at that. I still gave them 4 stars being that 90% of the job was done good by the assigned teams.

My partner and I recently bought a custom home in Round Rock and was connected through High Tech Flooring and Design to look at the different options and upgrades that we could include the house. The representative was super nice and supportive in helping us pick our our design and going through all the options to have available. In the sense, we also felt compelled to upgrade both the carpet and Padding, specifically the spill guard and upgraded carpet pile lengths. After 2 months later, and closing on the house, we noticed one of our floor was really squeaky and had to pull up the carpet to make sure we can drill it in.... and upon inspection, we realized what was installed was not the correct padding or carpet length. (Pictures displayed between sample and our carpet padding.) Spillguard is on the left (what we ordered). WE would not have known if we didn't have to also fix the squeaky floors - It's been difficult to get them to verify the correct padding, and getting a response from the office on how we can get it resolved. We brought it up, and requested that they bring in movers to help move the furniture and replace it, we're still in the process. They also had movers who wouldn't move back everything as requested - which made it difficult since my partner just had surgery on a torn ACL which meant we still had to request friends to support for something the company did wrong. They would also not verify the correct carpet that we upgraded. At this point, we believe this may have been an intentional intent to help save the company money. I believe they were banking that the new home builders would not have checked on the material that they purchased to help save on costs. MY recommendation - For anyone ordering carpet from High Tech Flooring, make sure you have proper documentation and verify when they are installing to ensure the correct flooring during the process.

Horton home, and the doors, door frames, walls, baseboards, quarter round, and flooring was in absolute perfect condition. Shortly after close, I hired High Tech Flooring & Design to replace the carpet in all bedrooms, closets, and master bathroom with the same flooring installed in the main areas of my home. I am HORRIFIED to say that they did a HORRENDOUS job and are refusing to repair the damages, which amount to the cost of the entire installation based on a quote received from a trusted third party general contractor. When I went to inspect the home, I was appalled to find the floors and baseboards covered in sawdust, the walls, doors, door frames, baseboards, and quarter round damaged. The wall texture has been damaged, there are marks, smears, and scrapes on the walls. The baseboards are absolutely shot to hell with dents, black scuffs and scrapes, the boards are splitting where they meet quarter round. The quarter round was installed so badly that it is splitting where it meets the baseboard, doesn't even flush with the baseboard, and there are exposed nails and wood chipping off the quarter round and baseboards. My bedroom doors have chunks coming out of them where the installers knocked the flooring into the door, and all door frames have chunks missing or have been scuffed, marked, dented, and damaged. They also uninstalled my toilet and attempted to reinstall it. However, I have zero confidence that they reinstalled it properly based on the abominable work performed thus far. As such, they need to hire a professional plumbing company to reinstall the toilet properly. When I confronted the project manager, Enrique Juarez, he told me I should expect damages and it was on me to cover the repairs. I attempted to reach his superior but am currently being stonewalled by the company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, as they are not ethical and do not care about the quality of services they provide, or in this case, didn't provide.
