Pros: The sales reps we've worked with are friendly and nice. They seem to know their stuff about their products, and they carry a wide range of inventory. We used them for carpet replacement, backsplash demo and install, and floor demo and wood install. The sales reps are very agreeable and are good salesmen...confident in their products/service and make lots of promises. Have a pretty quick turnaround with ordering and install. Depending on the scope of project, they send in a large crew to get in and get the job done. Cons: The quality of the job lies in whatever crew and Project Manager gets assigned to your project. The sales rep becomes a middle man of trying to give "the customer is always right" vibe (or "let's keep the customer happy") AND "got to keep the PM happy or he'll probably leave the job with his crew". Sales rep will say, "yes, we can do that, let's make it right." Then the PM comes in and says, "the slab was uneven, that's normal, nothing we can do about it." The "we can fix this portion of the job, it's easy, just need to do this..." then becomes "choose the worst couple of spots and we'll fix those" because of pushback and excuses from the crew. No quality control. I'm giving two stars because they did a good job with our carpet installs, and our Sales Reps were nice guys. Just wish our "nice guys" could have had a crew that knew what they were doing and took more pride in their work. I've talked to other customers that had other crews work on their projects, and they did not have any of the same issues as we did. And they were surprised when they saw the pictures I'm posting. read more

All emotions aside, here are the facts. Covid Move- My family and I moved across the country in 2020. It was a difficult time to find services for our new home and we settled on Lonestar Carpet for all of our carpet and laminate flooring based on a handful of online reviews that looked promising. The sales rep we had told us we were getting the best of the best (price was not our biggest concern as we wanted good value and longevity) and that we would get years of good use and value from our $8k + purchase with his company. Red flags- Right away there were problems. The pad we ordered was not the pad that showed up on installation day and one of the installers told my husband that he had never installed flooring before that day. When we called, the rep told us that he had misquoted us for the wrong pad and getting the correct pad would add thousands of dollars and weeks of time to our install. We were frustrated but we made the call, we didn't have weeks to wait. We had already put off moving in to get this job scheduled After installation- The installation of the laminate flooring was shoddy and the transitions started popping up right away. We also noticed seams in our carpets within a few months. We tried to call several times and got no answer. The companies who provided the materials refused to talk to us, sending us back to our rep. We ran in circles. It is what it is- The time in our life was incredibly chaotic and we made the decision to do what we could to mitigate the issues and moved on with life. Looking back, I wish I would have had the bandwidth to push harder or drive to their corporate office to talk face to face, but things in 2020 were difficult and we let it go. 2023- time for new laminate- The problems with the laminate had gotten so bad we decided to replace it once and for all. We found another company with lifetime product and installation warranties and set the date. My husband pulled up the old flooring and the reason for all of the lifting and cupping became very obvious. There was no moisture barrier installed on the concrete sun floor, no preparation of any kind, nothing. We looked up the installation manual for the flooring (we still had a box in the garage) and found a guide from 2017 stating that a moisture barrier of at least 6mm must be installed on concrete sub floors. "We could just walk away" - We called the rep, he and his boss took two days to get back to us. When he called us with his answer it was that "the company changed its policy on moisture barriers in DEC of 2020 and since our floors were installed in August of 2020 "we could just walk away from you." He went on to say "the floors have no warranty, zip" and "we don't have to do anything to help you." When I tried to tell him I had found something from 2017 indicating that was not correct he talked over me, became agitated, and told me that his company would "go above and beyond" by filling out a claim form against the flooring manufacturer. In short, Lonestar Carpet was not going to do anything to stand behind its work or its customer. Their "above and beyond" was to fill out a claim form, which the sales rep told me repeatedly he "didn't have to do." Take aways- There are a lot of flooring companies with excellent reputations. Many of them stand behind their products and services with lifetime installation warranties representing companies who offer the same on their products. Why would you choose a company that considers it "above and beyond" to fill out a form and pass the buck to the manufacturer? Why would you choose a company who employs sales representatives who yell at and blame their customers? I feel that my family and I were taken advantage of in many ways by this company. I will not be having them fill out a claim form, or provide any other services for me and I am warning as many people who will listen to shop around. Flooring is a huge investment, it is supposed to last a long time, the company you choose will be represented in your home for years. We learned the hard way so you don't have to. read more

Working with the Round Rock location has been nothing short of a disaster. We needed flooring for our new house and have been delayed multiple times, causing us to delay moving altogether. After getting delayed weeks, they finally were able to install. The vendors arrived at our house hours late in the day and finally installed our floor. However, THEY RAN OUT OF WOOD so now we will be moving items onto an unfinished floor because we can't delay any more. What should have been an exciting start for us has now been utterly chaotic because of David and the way he has handled this project. When told that we are unhappy with the lack of communication, broken promises, and constant delays, he put it back on us and said it was our fault. Absolute nightmare! We did not have the opportunity to appoint the best floor installers to do this job but this was the company sent. We have been displaced in our own home for far to long waiting on honest work to be done. We received laminate flooring "manufacturing defect". We were told the man in charge would step in and over see the work the first day, did not happen. We were told the floor would be done in 1 day, did not happen, they did not have the equipment to finish and left early. I was told I may be able to come choose some options, that did not happen. The floor chosen was a drastic color change in the scheme of the home, additionally very dull, very dirty looking, I was not able to walk on it without shoes! I assumed it would change once it was "finished". The previous floor which was clean, shiny and beautiful. What we received was not near the quality we had, looking at it, you automatically knew something was wrong. Everyone who seen the half done floor on day 1 assumed for sure there would be good clean up to remove the grit, harsh surface, and a good polish of some sort done to finish off the floor to restore the shine and rid the floor that was covered in foot prints, hand prints, streaks from the workers. I called the contractor and inquired about the time frame to finish and clean up the floor. He stated that there no finish, no top coat, no polish. He then said it could be a manufacturing defect after talking to his worker that was present He finally came out and recognized the "defective" laminate. He proceeded to call the manufacturer and ask what could be done. We do not want or need or desire a product like this. You are paid to do a job, then do it right, make it right. There was an attempt to "clean" the floor using a PH balance 32oz spray bottle that he purchased for an entire home, the installer was told to "just clean it and see if it helps" as the contractor left out the door, so using 1 dirty hand towel to do it with the attempt was done in the master bedroom and no improvement, you wipe, you see the wipe, he did the whole room. He proceeded to stop then and leave. Harsh reality is this was not going to work or hide the bad material. The contractor said he would have the person from flooring "come out next week to see the floor" but stated even then he doubted they would do anything about it. The floor must be all removed and done over, what a waste of time, energy, stress! Beware of the nail glue, I was not informed of it, and talked about allergy sensitivity at the initial visit. The glue was used for floor border trim. I had a terrible reaction for 2 days from it (with air purifiers going) I was told from the worker to go "find heavy things" to place over the trim to keep it in place. Im not suppose to lift anything heavy and all our belongings are displaced. We will wait to see what happens :( read more

Don't use these people. They do not stand behind their work. Their installation is sub par. We had a fire at our home and had to have the carpet replaced. Insurance paid for roughly half and we picked up the rest out of pocket. We found the carpet we wanted at a reputable local dealer. Their bid included new technology 2 inch pad and an enhanced warranty, The insurance company's contractor insisted we had to use Lone Star. We did get a 3 inch pad of old technology. But the installation was defective. There was only a 1 year warranty on the installation work. The defects in the installation did not start to show up until 10 months later. They started small and grew larger and more numerous over time. Unfortunately, that was at the beginning of the March Covid 19 shutdown. We are in our 70s and just hunkered down to try to stay healthy. When we got our vaccines and contacted Lone Star, they said the warranty had expired. We asked for a dispensation due to the pandemic. They said no. We needed it fixed anyway, so we asked for an estimate to fix it. About a month later, Curtis Reilly the owner, sent a bid to fix it for $600.00, but we would have to hire furniture movers to get the 2 rooms in question ready for repair. We didn't want to hire a furniture mover so we searched for a carpet repair company. Nip Tuck said they could fix it for $400.00 and they would remove the furniture. We agreed to move the light stuff we could and unload the file drawers. They did a great job. What ever you do, don't trust Lone Star Carpet. They did not stand behind their work, and also over ordered on the carpet. We had to pay for it and ended up donating it the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Avoid this company or pay the extra costs! Water damage from a leaky roof made it necessary to replace the carpet in a bedroom. I got an estimate from a firm we had dealt with for years but it seemed high and it stated that the company would move the furniture when there was none to be moved. I decided to get a bid from Lone Star and it was 30% less than the first. I was concerned about the quality of service we would get but went ahead and ordered the carpet from them. The service from the office staff and the installers was excellent and the carpet looks and feels great to walk on. There is one problem. The new carpet makes that in three other rooms that we will probably calling Lone Star before long. read more

I've never been more disappointed in a company. We ordered carpet and requested that it be installed by a certain date or wait until after I returned from a work conference. I was assured the carpet would arrive in time and was told to prepare. I spent over 6 hours removing all items from my closet, moving an 800 pound safe, disassembling the 8 closet shelving units, and removing all items from the room. After I contacted them the day prior to confirm the time of install on Tuesday, I was told there was a delay and they install would be the next day. This was concerning based on my tight timeline but we agreed to make that work. The following day I received a call saying that it would actually be on Wednesday because the carpet had not yet arrived. On Wednesday they called to say the carpet would not actually arrive until Friday but it was guarantied to be there and they would be at my house no later than 11am. On Thursday afternoon I received a call that the carpet was still in Georgia and that it would not be here until potentially Monday. That delay was not going to work due to the fact that I was leaving the country on Saturday for work. I discussed options and offered solutions for the company to make it right. I was firm and emotional but I didn't raise my voice or use any inappropriate language. I explained the overwhelming amount of work that had been done already in prep and that I would expect some sort of compensation to make me whole after this ordeal. I was told that the owner would call me to discuss. A few hours later the owner called and said that my money would be refunded, have a blessed day, and good luck. I'm at my wits end now, no carpet, my house in disarray and leaving in less that 48 hours. As a customer I have never felt less valued or disrespected. read more

Solid selection, excellent service. C.T. was our salesman. We purchased a new wood floor--our old tile was removed. His crew came and did the job in one day very efficiently and well. C.T. warned us about the mess and the noise of the machine. We were able to block off other areas with thin plastic drop cloths. We did have some issues with the stair nosing color and the installation--glue seepage and a couple of scratches. No problem. C.T. was going to fix anything that was a problem.There was also a discoloration problem with the stair nosing; C.T. brought the Mohawk rep out to inspect it and, eventually, the stair nosing was replaced by Mohawk--a perfect match this time--again--Installation was excellent and the workers were extremely courteous and neat. Not being familiar with the Round Rock area, I asked my realtor for a reference to replace carpeting and tile with new linoleum plank flooring. The floor itself turned out great with only a single board popping out a few weeks later after the install (see picture). The flooring itself isn't my issue. My biggest complaint was with follow up and completion of detail work. The caulking around the floorboards in the entire home was shoddy workmanship. There were also places in the home (after being freshly painted by another contractor) where there were several dings on the walls and a long gouge on another (the master bedroom. -- my guess is that some of the flooring planks were scraped against the walls accidentally). My painting contractor graciously came back out to refinish the dings that were not even his fault. I pointed these issues out to C. T. Lee (the contractor I was working with) and he arranged to send his crew out to review and fix the issues. The easy stuff was fixed (the straight caulk lines), but the detail around the doors and corners (the more challenging work) was never done properly. I continued to voice my concern about how awful it looked, but it fell on deaf ears. In my opinion, the work was never completed professionally and it was left at that (after a heated argument with C. T.). I could've done a better job myself with the finish work -- it really looked like an amateur did it... or a monkey. I've uploaded pictures from every room to show what I'm talking about for reference. I'm not happy how this project was left unfinished. The home has since sold and the new owners will have to live with it or fix it themselves because C. T. made it clear he was not going to go back out to complete the job (again, a heated argument). My final thoughts are, that if you don't mind a quick install with shoddy finish work, and no concern about how you treat or work with a client, then Lone Star Carpets is your kind of place. read more

The salesman only wanted us to sign off on the job. The "main boss" dropped by with the approach as he entered our home as this, " There is nothing else to do here!" My apartment complex "forgot" to put new carpet down before I moved in... LoneStar Carpet was called because they "have experience" replacing carpet in a furnished home. Basically what that meant is that they shoved all my stuff on the balcony & in the bathroom- upending my dresser & scattering all my jewelry & clothes (all of which were just wadded up in different drawers than I keep them). Luckily my dog was in the kennel before I got there, but they just perched that up on top of several, unbalanced pieces of furniture in the kitchen! Now I have my 2 most expensive watches missing (miraculously the cheaper one is still there). I gave them every chance to make it right. But they said they talked to their installers who said they hadn't taken the drawers out & couldn't explain the missing jewelry. I guess they expected them to say, "Oh! Shoot. She noticed the jewelry was gone. Yep- we took it, but here it is! Just kidding!" They then told me (via my apartment) that I should take it up with my own insurance company. Had they even just apologized for the shabby way they treated my things I may have been ok. I've called to file a police report, but of course it's just a case of he-said-she-said. Bottom line- I can't recommend a company that doesn't seem to care a thing for their customers' satisfaction at the very least... but who blatantly seem flippant that they may have thieves working for them! read more

David recommended us to look at another carpet that was, in his opinion, a much better carpet then the one that we originally wanted from another company, even knowing that the carpet we originally wanted was more expensive the his recommendation. As for the install, it was delivered and installed as promised. He had a two man crew show up that was extremely professional and followed through with cleaning up all their work. As a customer of Lone Star Carpet, I was found quite disappointed with my service! I have set an appointment for the stairs to be fixed at 10:30 a.m on 13th of October, for the worker to only appear at 11:40 a.m in the morning. Over an hour late, regardless I gave him politeness and respect as he fixed my home and that I was grateful for his services. I expressed again and again how thankful I was to finally receive improvements the stairs desperately needed. The worker shrugged me off and continued working on the stairs for at least 45 minutes but that wasn't the thing that concerned me. My Housemate was attempting to help the worker improve his handiwork by using a different glue instead of wood glue for the tile reassignment on the steps. We expressed multiple times our gratitude as he worked and exited our residence, however it was unrequited. The worker left and contacted our landlord making claims such as "the tenants are kicking or pulling them off." As well as "Not sure if they are moving furniture up and down or what, but the glue has been stuck and pulled from the plank underneath." claiming we INTENTIONALLY damaged our home! These claims are utterly ridiculous and terrible!!! That should never be said about customers to their LANDLORD. She contacted us about the situation, talking to us as if WE were to blame because of this! It was never our intention to hurt or damage our home but saying we destroyed it on purpose is absolutely rude and disrespectful! Thus we have made the decision in unison to never hire this company for their work again, we will fix the stairs on our own from now on since we're tired of being blamed for faulty reassignments. read more

The long version - We had a great experience with Lone Star carpet! We just purchased a new home and needed to get rid of the ugly green carpet as quickly as possible. Our realtor recommended Lonestar carpet, and Frank Menzel in particular as she uses him for all of her carpet needs in the rental properties that she owns. My husband called Frank on a Monday morning to schedule a measuring. Frank had availability that afternoon and stopped by to take the measurements. He also brought us carpet samples of the neutral color we were looking for to save us a trip of going to the store and picking it out from there. Frank was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the products, and quick. He sent us a quote later that evening. We called him the next morning to confirm that we would like to proceed with his services and scheduled the installation for the upcoming Thursday. He and his crew got the job done in one day, and it looks great! The whole thing took 4 days from start to finish from the first time we contacted Frank. He did a great job and we paid almost $1000 less than the quote from Home Depot and another local mom and pop carpet store. read more

Chase and his team did a great job installing the floors. The only issue I had was with the 'contractor' David Roseland (contour llc) that Chase recommended for painting and installing the baseboards. The flooring team had to come in and install shims because the contractor had tried to cover the 1/2 inch door jamb gaps with caulking which melted and dripped all over my brand new floors. I'm glad the LSC team was there to install shims (but those shims still needed to be sanded and painted, which Chase said LSC wasn't able to do). I would trust them to do my floors again, but definitely NOT use the "general contractor" they recommend - the job David Roseland did was complete garbage and they stole items from my house! read more

Why would you install a carpet and not even clean up after yourselves? What kind of customer service is leaving your mess everywhere for the customer to clean up themselves? This company cancelled my carpet install less than 24 hours from install time after I paid half the deposit. I had paid double their normal labor rate for an occupied install but when they sent me the terms of the occupied install last minute it says 'we don't really move anything (beds, tvs, dressers, personal items, antique's, cabinets, and nothing from room to room. we also aren't responsible for any damages to furniture or building). I said I would not pay $350 for them to move my stuff if they weren't moving it and that I would do that part myself since i would have to anyway. Long story short they were hard to deal with the entire time and then they canceled my order less than 24 hours before install after I called them out for their moving (not moving) furniture agreement. read more

I am not very happy with the communication I have had with Brandon he is a rep for Lone Star Carpet out of San Antonio Texas I text him something and he does not answer and then he states he is extremely busy and that he sent samples and did not charge me for them. Today I sent him an E-mail and asked for a credit card receipt today at 1:52PM and then he replies the office is closed because he did not get the credit card information to the people in the office until 4:56PM. I called Austin to tell them my concerns from the first time and was put in touch with David it was good until today about getting the credit card receipt today and he has not returned my phone call.
