The beer selection was large and there's something for everyone. 5/5 for food but $18 for a burrito is kind of steep - even the non seafood ones are about that. Absolutely love the el Camino taco and Baja fish tacos here, super flavorful and a perfect mix of fillings. The Gordito is my sisters favorite here, but I found the guacamole lacking in flavor. A squeeze of lime juice would help a lot. Altogether a great place to order from! read more

One of the best fish tacos in sf! Each fish taco is huuuge with a super large battered fish fillet. The fish is so huge, it made me forget that it was even a taco! The batter is super crispy and the fish is so soft! The sauce also perfectly compliments the fish. The fish taco here is a must-try if you're in the area! It's such a fun place to go if you're looking for some food + drinks. There's also tvs set up all around the place, so it's a good place to go to watch the game. Best fried chicken sandwich I've had in a while! I know people come here for the burrito type foods but please try the chicken sandwich! It was a huge piece of tender chicken on a buttery bun, with lettuce tomato and pickles and a nice sauce. Crispy and fresh and perfect amount of food for lunch. I was not stuffed nor hungry after. To get a table you must come at 12 when they open. Very long lines as soon as they open. A decent amount of tables inside and wait for food was not that long. I was so excited to visit but was unfortunately very disappointed by Garaje. It was quite difficult to find this place! The storefront blended in with the dark alleyway / gated walls. I visited with a friend on a not-as-busy-as-I-was-expecting Friday night around 6pm, and the ambiance was amazing entering the restaurant. We lined up at the counter to order a steak zapato ($8), carne asada fries ($17), a beer ($9) and an ahi tuna taco ($8). We got our number and sat down at one of the empty tables, and got the fries and taco very shortly after (~10-15 min wait). It wasn't after quite a while of waiting longer for the zapato that I decided to check the receipt, realizing that the cashier hadn't actually added the zapato to our order. Cue us going to place the order again, and when we finally got to try everything, we realized how absolutely bland the food was. Everything looked so delicious and colorful, but ultimately there was a significant lack of seasoning or flavor to anything. My friend is a die hard fan of Mexican food, and we were both extremely disappointed that his first time trying Mexican food in the city was so subpar. The zapato barely had any steak - it was 65-70% bland beans, and the fries had cheese, guac, some scarce pieces of meat. If the goal was to make it as healthy (maybe?) as possible without any salt or pepper or seasoning, that was it. We ended up dousing everything in Tapatio and sriracha to try to get some flavor in. The ahi tuna taco was the only one that was not bad, but not sure I would pay $8 + tax for that again. Not great, not addicting, nothing about it that wowed me. My boyfriend and I got the Cali Steak Zapato (minus avocado) and the OG. The ingredients are all fresh and they didn't skimp on the toppings, and the burritos had the perfect texture from the grill. But the meat was lacking in flavor and these burritos are on the small side, so it didn't quite live up to our expectations. And with the high cost, I don't think it's worth driving to SF from the south bay for these. I can easily get burritos in San Jose that are bigger and better, for less money. I can live without the fries inside... if I really want extra carbs, seasoned rice will do just fine. Also their website is nonfunctional, no detailed info/menu. Thank goodness there's Yelp. I still like that this eatery does something different -- grilling their burritos. And they have good service, accept credit cards, and look like they have a nice vibe inside the restaurant (but of course, can't really experience that right now due to COVID). Garaje is my absolute go to prior to catching a Giants game in the city. Be weary because seating is limited and this place can get quite crowded on game day. The portions are huge and while they've lost a bit of their touch when it comes to flavor, they have plenty of sauces to go around to liven up your wraps. My taco was OK no major wow factor, I guess personally I needed a better salsa to go with the taco and maybe some cilantro and green onion. First off I just want to show appreciation for this business being open. On to my review. I had the chicken burrito and the Asada Fries. I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I got both. The chicken burrito was loaded to the point it was busting out. It is definitely enough to share with someone. Being a bit messy, it pack a bunch of flavor and kept me wanting to savor another bite. The Asada fries look amazing but when it came to them, they were cook too hard, the cheese that was on them melted to the point it was like super glue on the fries. Known about this place for awhile but finally had a chance to stop by on a humble taco Tuesday. They don't do any specials unfortunately, but that's not why I came. Inside, I was pretty blown away by the decor. Only downside I could barely read their beer menu, it is like borderline impossible to understand what they serving there, so I stuck with a coke. It's self serve and while we waited someone told me they had a secret menu with something called a Obama's Fault. Chicken in a BBQ sauce apparently, but I could of misheard him. Food wise, I ordered 3 tacos, the fried Baja, the chicken como Se Llama, and the chicken street taco. My wife got the Grand royale Zapata. Flavor wise, everything was super fresh. My wife raved about the Zapata, which is like a cross between a burrito and crunchwrap from Taco Bell. I tasted it and damn, prolly the best thing of the night. The Baja taco is an entire fried tilapia filet and it was crunchy as hell. I would of liked a little more seasoning, or perhaps a more prominent salsa, but the filet is so good I can overlook it tbh. The chicken tacos were both just ok. I was actually a little disappointed by the street taco, it just lacked flavor. The como se llama one was slightly better, with good refried beans, but the meat just lacks seasoning. The salsa on the table helps, but usually I use that for spice not for flavor. Overall I definitely enjoyed it, the vibe was great, food came out quick, and everything was super fresh. I think I might get a side of salsa to go with the tacos next time so I can get some more flavor on there, the quality of the proteins are enough to make up for what it lacks, in my opinion. read more

Garaje is my favorite food spot in SF. Great dive vibe, has an upstairs seating area but can get crowded during game days or during lunch / after work. The line can get long but it moves fairly quickly, as others have noted it's cash only but they have an ATM on site. Also, they have a few TVs and regularly show local games. As for food, it's to die for. My fiancée and I always split a Rolls Royce Zapato (steak and shrimp grilled and pressed burrito) and Seared Ahi Tuna sandwich. They are sooo incredible, fresh, flavorful. There's also a great in house hot sauce I'd recommend. I have friends that swear by the burgers, tacos, and fries here, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Also, they have a nice draft list with 5-6 Fieldwork taps and several other sours, stouts, lagers from other breweries. Fortunately for me I live a few blocks away, but when I'm traveling I find myself dreaming about Garaje. Check the hours before you come as it's closed on Sundays.
