Happy Hour tacos. Steak and Chicken
    Terrance S.

Great location, great environment, and great staff. I'll definitely be returning for happy hour and trying some of the other items. Everything was prepared properly and cooked perfectly. The plantains were a pleasant surprise and good reason for a return visit.

Wait staff was nice! The restaurant itself was pretty. The atmosphere was casual and fun. The food was delicious and the beverages were strong.

Came for lunch on a weekday, late afternoon, and we were waiting at the entrance for someone to acknowledge us. 3 different staff saw us walk in and wait and not one had any courtesy to say hi or that someone would be with us, nothing. This place was pretty empty as well with only a couple of tables occupied. Truth be told, this wasn't even on the list of places we wanted to eat but all the other places were either closing within 15 mins or too far and we were already starving. At the time we came, they were having a happy hour, but unlike other places, we weren't allowed to order off the reg menu. Only items on the happy hour list and appetizers. This limited selection wasn't ideal as I'm a vegetarian so I could only order 2 appetizers, and they were TINY.

Nice Mexican restaurant near yuerba buena gardens. Had an event at St Regis and was craving Mexican and this place was recommended from a couple of locals, so I had to try it. Upon entering the decor and set up of the restaurant is really nice. There's a menu right on the wall and you start with ordering your food. Really friendly people with great service, but the food was a let down for me. I ordered a shrimp and steak burrito and flautas. The burrito was soggy and too salty for me. The shrimp was flavorful and the best thing in the burrito. The flautas was my favorite dish. Nice and crispy and just the right amount of sour cream. Overall an ok location.

Located near Yerba Buena, across from the (currently closed) Contemporary Jewish Museum and steps from the gardens, this spot is an easy weekday or weekend win. The interior is warm and lively; Tropisueno's extensive menu makes it just as suitable for a casual lunch as it is for cocktails after work.

My first experience here was great, which is what made the second visit a little surprising. We came for dinner the first time and had an excellent meal. The carne asada was really well done, the margaritas were great, and the overall experience left us wanting to return. We raved about our experience and eagerly looked forward to returning. When we returned mid afternoon, the setup was completely different. The restaurant was operating more like a fast casual taco bar, where you order at the counter as they make the food in front of you. A large portion of the seating was closed off, so you order first and then look for a place to sit if one is available. Drinks are handled separately, meaning you have to go to the bar and open a second tab for cocktails, which felt disjointed. It is helpful to know this going in. At night it functions as a full service restaurant, and that is when I would recommend coming. I would absolutely return for dinner, but I would skip the daytime taco bar setup.

Great place! The happy hour menu is surprisingly affordable for SF and has a good bit of variety. The salsa variety for the chips and salsa is great. They've got a pretty good veggie alternative (jackfruit) for most of the entrees and the churros were alright as well. Service was good and friendly. The ambiance is what you'd expect for a Mexican restaurant in SF, a bit lively and cozy.

    Chorizo tacos

Tropisueño in San Francisco serves up some of the best tacos you'll find--loaded with cilantro, cebolla, and your choice of red or green salsa. My daughter ordered the chorizo tacos, while I went with one al pastor and one carnitas, and all were excellent. It's the rare Mexican spot in SF that truly captures the vibe and flavors of a SoCal Mexican restaurant. There's a large indoor dining room with plenty of tables and booths, plus outdoor seating, though the bar could be bigger. You order at the counter, grab a number, and wait for your food. The staff is warm, kind, and helpful--especially appreciated given the large, slightly intimidating menu. A great downtown stop for solid Mexican food.

    Baja Fish Taco- not bad

Went with a large group of coworkers. While the atmosphere was nice, the service left a lot to be desired. We sat at the high top table, and for a group of 8 we got 3 menus to share. The 8 drinks came out in 3 separate batches and appetizers showed up 15 minutes after that even though everything was ordered together. Then the waiter never stopped by to get our order. I went and asked the host and flagged down the server and they said they were delaying taking our order because they were busy- 1 person in the group left without eating. The food was better than the service for sure but not close to anything that would be a reason to come back. I got fish tacos and the coating and crunch was nice but the fish was bland. The drink I got, virgin mango margarita, was really nice. Overall if the service was nice I would have been okay to come back for drinks and appetizers. Decent hangout place.

Great food and great location. I have come here since they opened and always 5 stars. Coming back with a 3 star review for the fact that they charge 4 bucks for salsa now. They said it was because it's made in house but that's every Mexican restaurant for the most part. Had the guac, ceviche, elote, tacos and some enchiladas and some drinks and spent $160 bucks. Very tasty just a shame on the nickel and dime on salsa. I felt like I was at McDonald's being charged 25 cents for ranch.

Place was ok, not the most authentic I would say (+) we were looking for place to eat last min and the city was super busy due to a conference that was happening that week. We messed up our booking and reserved for the wrong day. The waiter was super cool about it , and got us seated anyways (+) food was served really fast (+) had a large variety of options (+) I ordered chicken, steak, and lamb tacos , they were all good expect lamb was a little gamy (-) nachos were only served during lunch hours? (-) tacos were not served with lime? (-) tacos didn't come with green or red sauce? Maybe I'm from the east coast and tacos are served a little differently here and it's a cultural thing? Overall everything was great!

He said that there's no reservations but he promised to secure some seats for us because the week prior they were really busy. At that point I knew that the service would be excellent. When I got there Jose and staff were super welcoming as if we've known each other for a long time. He gave 2 small plates of rice, red enchilada sauce, green enchilada sauce, mole with chicken tinga, and birria. Everything is super flavorful and authentic.
