I have been in the construction industry since 1980 and have had my general contractors license since 2000 and I have seen many a concrete job. I recently put a pool in my own home and went with a recommendation from my excavation contractor for JR concrete as my guy was unable to do the job. That was a very good thing for me it turned out. I liked Jorge the instant he contacted me, which, by the way, was within an hour of leaving a message for him. He was professional in how he gathered the information he needed and was quick to respond with a quote. He also came by to meet with me to discuss details and did not assume anything. After going over the plans and timeframe with me we struck a deal. I felt like his price was fair and accurate and left no holes for other charges later. He was able to move some things to accommodate my aggressive schedule. He took the time needed to do a great job in the prep and form work to make sure everything was to my specifications. He showed up with 9 men in the day of the pour. I thought this was maybe more than he needed but it was exactly what he needed. He worked along side them and very calmly and assuredly ran the show. Every man had his job to do and they performed flawlessly. That really showed when the time came to float and finish and put in the control joints. If you know concrete, you know there is not much time from "ready to finish" to "oh crap it's getting to hard to work"! I also had him form and pour some steps in my front yard. I usually have to do the math for my subs to figure rise and run but not this time. It was refreshing to see he had it all figured out. I will highly recommend JR concrete. I don't know how this company gets 5-stars given the treatment I had from the owner. His communication was terrible. Last minute pricing and then says his crew will be there in the morning. I had prep work to do and needed him to put it out and so he said ok to the next day. Then he says they will be there at 7 AM. The project is 5 ft away from my neighbors window where they would be jack hammering. I said I wanted them to get there at 8 AM. He said 7 AM is the legal limit. I said I don't care about the legal limit, it is my neighbors. I said if they cannot get there at 8 am then cancel. He canceled. This was all the morning they were scheduled to be here. No previous coordination on a schedule, etc. I would not recommend this firm for any work because of the bad communication and terrible customer services. Frankly, I probably escaped them doing a bad job given how that company is managed. read more

We extended the driveway, added steps and a walkway, and concrete throughout our backyard. We wanted to make sure we got the right person for this project, because the last thing we want is to hire someone to pour concrete and it doesn't look right. I met with several contractors to get a rough estimate of the bids, but Jorge stood out from the rest. After meeting Jorge, I can tell he was humbled and cared about his work and reputation. Jorge responded to our questions in a timely matter throughout the duration of the job. Most contractors will forget what was discuss on the initial meeting and you have to remind them about some of the details of the initial conversation. I got Jorge's number from a neighbor - had walked by their house and admired the concrete work so asked who had done it - Called Jorge up - came by within a couple of days and then gave me a bid. The bid was written up so professionally- down to the gravel, french drain, tying in the old concrete with the new, I knew I was dealing with a real pro. He was not the cheapest bid I got, but so worth it! I was putting in a wall and walkway in the front of the house to make it more welcoming and give it a fresher look. He and his crew showed up when they said they would every time. Only took a week to do my whole project; their forms for the concrete were down to the gnats butt in detail with tie ins, rebar, gravel, etc. The day of concrete pour had a snafu with the concrete that was delivered being too wet - so it was sent back and they waited for another truckload. Pour went great - job looks incredible. I have called Jorge a couple of times with questions or help with needing a little more clean up, and he had someone here that day to take care of it.
