We recently went to eat here as we have for many years. Nothing here is ever amazing but it is good. The tortillas though are always great! But I regret to say that we will not becoming back anytime soon. The prices have been increased DRAMATICALLY and it is ridiculously expensive. I get that food has gone up but they have taken advantage of the situation to get rich. The meals here are NOT worth the cost. The food here is typically pretty good. If you are ever in need of a chile and tortilla fix this is the place to go. My go to meal is always the brisket omelet with well done potatoes, red chile, and a side tortilla! This place has amazing tortillas and red chile! I find it crucial to ask for my potatoes well done (because otherwise they are kinda weird lol). The chicharrones are pretty delicious too, but sometimes if you order to go they literally will give you the bottom of the barrel and you will be stuck with crumbs!! It has happened to us on more than one occasion, so make sure you check them before you leave. Also sometimes they try and say they can't fulfill your to go tortilla order because they have too many orders.... I personally think that's a bunch of lies because they will debate the matter with each other for about 10 minutes and usually decide to do the order. This place is wonderful! We came on a Saturday for lunch and were promptly seated, there is plenty of seating available. I got the combo plate and it was really good and had generous portions. The green/red chile was absolutely delicious and I really liked the tacos. The thing that stood out to me the most is how affordable the meal was! We'll definetely be back soon! read more

Sadly this is the second time I have been to Garcia's and received horrible service. The first time was a couple weeks ago. I came at 730pm and was reprimanded for coming so late. They close at 8. Tonight I got here at 720pm and was told I could not eat inside. They still close at 8. I would prefer for restaurants to simply state that they close at 7 instead of listing a closing time of 8. First stop I make in Albuquerque!!! Food is exactly what I want always! Has that traditional, home style, new Mexico taste. I feel like maybe I shouldn't be so unenthused in my review as my ancestry dates back as far as the 1300's to the region of Albuquerque.  I believe that I understand the uniquely traditional New Mexican cuisine( maybe?) So I decided to elaborate here. Garcia's family settled in this area of old town Albuquerque long ago. The food consist of a blend of local native cuisine, and Spaniards Mexican influence the conquistadors carried in their travel to this land.   New Mexican cuisine is a category of it's own.  It is not mexican food, nor tex-mex. You will be disappointed if you are looking for (Mexico inspired) Mexican food here. You will also be disappointed if you are looking for (Spain) Spanish food. Garcias is really authentic to the style of food that evolved out of the integration of Spanish/Native American blended people.  It makes me sad to see this beloved food misrepresented. It is nostalgic for many in this region. In this, chips and salsa we're not a typical staple of this region, nor is guacamole. Unfortunately yummy avacodes don't grow in New Mexico, but yummy cherries do! Breads, chilie, poultry, corn, beans, and squash are more favorable to the climate.   My only complaint with Garcia's is they don't have anise in their bescochittos!!!!   I always hope they change that back to traditional. This will not stop me from inhaling every meal I eat at Garcia's as though it was my last meal on Earth. ...I still will. If you are visiting New Mexico, do not leave without trying some fabulous fresh bread, hatch green chillies, or estancia's pinto beans! read more

I actually went to the new Garcia's Kitchen on Coors that took over the Village Inn. Temp wasn't bad in the sun and didn't want to wait, so we elected outside dinning. Waitress took our drink order and never saw her again. We sat in the shade and I was shivering. No space heaters to at least give us the chance to warm up, no service, cancelled our appetizer, food served on paper plates and plastic ware and to boot, prices STILL at regular price. It will be a long time before I go back and I will, because the manager did a great job taking care of us. When I asked about things, it's Coorporate's fault. Covid has been hard on businesses, especially restaurants. So patronizing local restaurants whenever possible has become a thing for my wife and I. Garcia's on North 4th has always been a favorite for breakfast and today they didn't disappoint. Watching carbs I went for 2 eggs over easy with carnitas smothered in green chile. No papas, frijoles or tortilla. Excellent as always. My wife had eggs over medium with chorizo, papas, frijoles and tortilla. We then shared a side of chicharrones but I have to admit, my wife let me eat most of them . The restaurant seats inside and out as they put up a nice tent in their front parking lot. They're serving on plastic plates using plastic utensils sealed in plastic when placed on the table. But the nice touch was when the manager came to our table asked how our meal was and thanked us for supporting their restaurant during these difficult times. Joined my family for dinner and was sorry they choose this place. We were seated and we waited 10 minutes before a server came to get our drink order. We asked for another chips and salsa and never got the request. After another 10 minutes waiting for drinks we ordered. Other tables who came in after we had been seated got their food and we waited. The food finally arrived and it was cold. I ordered flautas and it came with guacamole on the plate. My lemonade was thicker than the guacamole. What was worst was that it had no flavor. The food had no seasoning not even salt. We asked for more sopapillas and it took a long time to get them and were cold. Bad service and bad food would not have me coming back. read more

Garcia's is a really enjoyable place for a family dinner. There is nothing fancy or pretentious, just good food at a good price. The fact that Garcia's is not trying to be fancy is exactly what I liked about it. I really enjoyed that they had plates for small appetites at low prices. It was perfect when I didn't want much to eat. I noticed a number of hispanic families here, which is a good sign when judging a Mexican restaurant. We came here for lunch today. I got the beef fajita and menudo, and my girlfriend got the Chile Relleno. The beef fajita and menudo came with tortilla and sopapilla. The tortilla felt like it was freshly made. Soft, warm, and the texture was fluffy. It went great with the beef fajita. The sopapilla tasted like a slightly sweet version of a square shaped donut. It was warm, deep fried, and mildly sweet ( you can also eat it with the syrup)! It was good! I thought the beef fajita was very good! Very satisfying and had a great flavor (though on the oily side). The beef fajita came with some guacamole with jalapeno in it. It was delicious and added some heat to it. The Chile Relleno was delicious and greasy according to my girlfriend. The menudo had a weird, funny taste...Since this was my first time trying menudo, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to taste like that or the menudo was old or what. I have had beef stomach and intestines before and have always loved them, but the menudo here tasted off...Not sure why... Told my server about it and she was nice enough to take it off our bill since we barely touched it after the first bite. The service here was attentive and friendly. It has been a while since I dined at Garcia's. What a wonderful NM experience! I ordered vegetarian on the chiquito menu with easy chile and my dish was perfect. I asked for an extra tortilla to mop of the chile and that came in no time. The waitress was super--I liked how she asked me if I wanted a straw (she didn't automatically give me one). I would definitely recommend this cute little restaurant to visitors since it is such an authentic experience. Next time I will order a regular-sized dish because it was all so delicious. This is an interesting place. It's very much like a diner. A New Mexican diner. The food was pretty good, although not the hottest thing I've ever eaten. This place is a wonderful mainstay and community spot. We ordered a bunch of the family style things to share among five people and we were delighted with the food. The red chili pork tamales were delicious, so was the green chili stew. They also threw in a couple Easter cookies will definitely be coming back every time we need a chili fix. Is it possible to give 0 stars? Honestly I could make better food than this. An insult to frozen food honestly, this is comparable to prison food. If I walked my dog through this restaurant he'd sniff it it and say absolutely not. For authentic New Mexican food, what a disappointment. I think the best part of the restaurant was the clean bathrooms and cold water. Red sauce tasted like it was from a can, chips were overly crispy and tasteless, salsa had a little kick but no flavor, tamales were garbage covered in red sauce. My dude and I sat at the bar so we wouldn't have to wait for a booth during the Sunday rush. I ordered an egg and chorizo burrito with cheese on top. We waited around fifteen minutes which is more than fine due to the hungry crowd. Upon our food being brought, my boyfriend digs in to his, I look at my plate and I'm puzzled just an egg burrito, no chorizo, no cheese. I may add, I hate sending food back. I usually bare with it and just eat it. I tell them this immediately. I wait around ten more minutes and the almost annoyed busy waitress brings me back a burrito with chorizo... Sprinkled with ten shreds of unmelted cheese. No apologies, no questions on how it looks or if I need anything else. It was so cold; cold and sad egg chorizo burrito. After my burrito was dropped off my waitress never came back. I had to ask a busboy for a to go box for my uneaten food. I gave this place two stars because my dogs seem to not mind the cold egg and chorizo. read more

Garcia's kitchen is one of those places most New Mexicans will tell you about, especially if they're from Albuquerque. It ranks up there in the pantheon of ABQ eateries known from generation to generation as good place to get good food. There are a few locations for Garcia's which is both a blessing and a curse. You like having greater access, but one wonders if the quality can be sustained across multiple locations. In my experience, Garcia's manages this little juggling act pretty well. The food is consistently good, but sometimes the service wavers. So, it's a bit of a trade-ff. More Garcia's food, sometimes spotty service. Meh, whatcha gonna do? This particular Garcia's is OK for decor. Our server kind of forgot about us, but that was fine because I was busy inhaling huevos locos. I'm a first timer at Garcias and was really looking forward to having a great New Mexican breakfast. I love the restaurant. It has a very homey feel which I love. The service was excellent. I loved my very attentive server. The chips and salsa were excellent. We also had guacamole which was excellent as well. I had the huevos rancheros and was really hoping for a yummy experience. It wasn't as good as I had hoped. I probably should have had the sauce on the meal and not served on the side. That was my bad. I will try it again next time with sauce on. All and all I loved my experience here and will definitely come again the next time I visit. read more
