Wow! You had me at New Mexican food! Amazing Green Chili Stew with a giant sopapilla: delicious, perfectly spiced with Hatch green chilis, tender chunks of meat! I had to go all in & eat it with whole beans, cheese & onions! My dining partner had a huge burrito that was as delish that day as it was the next day reheated. I thought the service was good-the only delay was when they were MAKING the food (i.e. this is NOT Taco Bell). Be sure to check the hours before you leave-they close at 3pm some days. read more

Rode bicycles here for lunch. There is a lot of seating here. The wait staff is very good. We totally enjoyed the New Mexican style of food. I had a burrito smothered in green chile and cheese. Service is slow here. Not a lot of people but they just ignore you. Maybe I'll get up and leave. I've sat here now about 3 minutes and nothing. I'll wait a little more then go. Looks nice inside but that is about it. People walk in and sit and wait... So they gave me a drink, finally. There are the regulars here so the food must be good. I always ask myself do workers really hate their jobs so they provide bad service. So the food is okay. Not really what I had envisioned. More of a fast food look than a regular Mexican food place. Angelica is a damm good waitress! today, Good Friday, we ordered Lenten special. She brought us spoons since the meal was afloat. I'd never had that happen here but it made it very difficult to eat. I DID USE MY SPOON! It was like slop. Noodles floating with no sauce, beans floating, spinach not even a tablespoonful, and somewhere under the cup full of green chili was my tortas. Calavacitas looked like they'd been washed up on the shore. It all tasted the same; couldn't identify any one particular item.it was more like a soup. My sweetheart stated as we went to the car "we should have settled for a fish sandwich from McDonalds." There was enough green chili to take home 2 cups and still have some in the plate. I wondered why the parking lot was almost empty in Good Friday and now I know. We won't make this mistake again. read more

I've been coming here to this location since I was a kid with my grandparents. I've since graduated from the bean and cheese burrito, but the food is still delicious. One of our favorite meals is the huevos rancheros with green chile. You can choose if you want corn or flour tortillas on the bottom (we always choose corn) and comes with one of their fluffy flour tortillas on the side. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are good. I like this location too. It has a big dining room with lots of booths. We'll definitely keep coming back. read more

We loved Garcia's. Staff was friendly as soon as we entered. You seat yourself anywhere you like and a waiter/waitress will come over and take your order. We got the pozole which is not on the menu. The pozole comes with sopapillas and honey or tortillas. I picked the sopapillas. we got a free sample of their green chili stew (free sample for everyone), and my hubby got the sausage and egg breakfast burrito. He made it into a plate which adds seasoned potatoes and beans. He got the Christmas salsa which is a side of green and also red salsa. Everything was delicious. Sunday, 11/23/25 I arrived at a restaurant to have breakfast (Garcia's Kitchen on 4th by Griegos), I sat at a booth, and when my server came to my table she wiped her snot from her nose with her bare hand while she was taking my order. I was immediately disgusted. I hid it with a smile and a pleasant tone. I could see she might be getting over a cold and didn't say anything and continued with my order. She was efficient and professional except for the wiping of the snot. Then, I watched her with that same hand with snot on it, pour coffee, and touch as many menus as apparently possible during a busy breakfast hour. I watched her buzz around the small dining area, never washing her hands once. Then the piece de resistance, she coughed, what sounded like a huge glop of noisy phlegm into that bare hand and not once did she wash that hand. She just wiped her hand on a nearby rag and continued with providing coffee toppers, menus, and food orders. This is the person who will be serving my own plate and I just couldn't let her bring my food with those hands. So, I approached her at the server station and I knew that I was going to mention something that she didn't want to hear and I also didn't want to hurt her feelings. I said very quietly "I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. I know you're not feeling well, but you wiped your nose at my table and you coughed into you bare hand and I haven't seen you wash your hands. I'm so sorry, I don't want to hur....". Then she went off with a series of denials, and excuses very upset: "Well I'm not feeling well!", "I always wash my hands!", "That's my cup!", "You wanna see me wash my hands!?" (There is a hand washing station at the service area, right behind her). Then she turned her back to me in a huff and stormed off. I mentioned to the manager apologetically that I hurt the server's feeling. The manager said that she wasn't feeling well and was 1. getting over a cold and 2. has allergies. I told the manager that I was trying to be as gentle as possible and I didn't intend to be rude. The manager offered to serve my plate and I said that would be OK. The manager only provided excuses and never apologized. When I went to pay for my meal, I mentioned that I couldn't finish my food. The manager ignored that and continued to make me pay every dimensions worth of a disgusted appetite-killing experience. I will never go to Garcia's again. I see why people don't like the 4th street location: arrogant and rude. BTW - I couldn't eat my breakfast. read more

Decided to try this restaurant for lunch. Sign said to seat yourself but it was difficult finding a clean table. Staff cleaned on off for me. Tostadas with beef were good and it came out almost immediately. Service was ok but they appeared to be short handed. Prices are reasonable. read more

I wish I hadn't eaten as fast as I did, because I ran out of room before I ran out of appetite; it's the sort of place you could cheerfully eat yourself into a food coma. The service was very good once we got to a table, but that did take a few minutes. To be fair, the place was pretty slammed. I ordered a stuffed sopapilla for pick up at Garcia's in 4 th street. The order was ready very quickly and the employees were following covid safety protocols. The meal was delicious and there was also a sopapilla with " honey sauce" provided for dessert. I only took a picture of my food and it was fine but the service at this location is terrible. If you're planning on going here for dinner, they're only open for dinner service on Friday and Saturday night. The rest of the week they only serve until 3 PM. Our server did not deserve the 20% tip that she got but I can't bring myself to not tip at least 20%. My mother and family friend wanted to get up and walk out at several points because the service was that bad. Pretty darn good. I was in town a couple weeks back for a family get together in Santa Fe. The day before though I stayed with family in Albuquerque and they knew I would want Enchiladas for sure. There was a couple places I had tagged that I wanted to hit for New Mexican food, but I appreciated them taking me to their local place. it was a bit of a drive to get there, so I was a little surprised when we pulled up and it looked like a chain restaurant. They told me that Garcia's has a few locations, but that this one was their favorite. I got a combo. They let me switch things out so I got a tamale with my enchilada. In fact the server was really nice and made smart suggestions. I really appreciated a place letting me switch things around a little on a combo so that I could try everything that I was hoping to. The enchiladas were pretty good, and the tamale too. The beans were solid, and the sopapilla was darn good too. The ambiance was a little too stream lined and chain location, but of course that is what it is. I will keep trying different places when I am in town, but I can see why this place is a local favorite. read more

I've taken a lot of people here and they absolutely love it. The menudo is amazing, just like grandmas BUT the last time I was here we killed a roach at our booth.. I just can't come back after that.. if there's one, there's ALWAYS more.. we told the waitress and she didn't seem too surprised, which says a lot. This is our families 'Go To New Mexican" spot. The food is just good and comforting. We order the "crispy" tacos (brisket,chicken and traditional beef) by the dozen all the time, for family dinner summer, winter spring and fall . The tacos are perfectly crispy with just enough lettuce, tomato and cheese topped with their yummy salsa. Our other favorites are, green chile stew, queso (ordered by the quart), 1 lb bag of fresh corn tortillas chips, tamales and chicken fajitas with papas. Garcia's catered my wedding and it was fantastic. The staff set up and packed up so smoothly and quickly, and I got a lot of compliments on the food from the guests. We had very few leftovers despite ordering far more than we needed! What has happened to this place?! Ordered online and received an email that said my order would be ready at 12:13. Got there at 12:15 and they hadn't even started my order. After 20 minutes a couple of customers that had picked up their order while I was waiting, returned to let them know they had screwed up the orders. The girl behind the counter could not have been less helpful. She rolled her eyes, put out that somebody would have the temerity to ask for their correct order. After she got these two screwed up orders fixed she started cackling with 3 cooks in the back that just could not seem to get any to go orders right. Long and short of it was 35 minutes later when this paragon of customer service said " hey....your order is ready.". I asked her is it correct and her response was "I think so.". These folks are lazy, un-disciplined, very poorly trained and terrible representatives. Food was luke warm, chicharron's were at least a day old, hard as a jaw breaker, service absolutely stinks, save yourself time and aggravation and just go down the street to Mary & Tito's. They had about three waitresses for a mostly packed restaurant and a manager that stood around and did nearly nothing. Even though we arrived and sat for about 10 minutes before the group next to us, they were tended to and ordered before us. We got zero refills, no sopapillas until the check came to the table (it comes with the meal) and our order wasn't right. I asked for blue corn enchiladas and they couldn't even get that correct. We recently went to eat here as we have for many years. Nothing here is ever amazing but it is good. The tortillas though are always great! But I regret to say that we will not becoming back anytime soon. The prices have been increased DRAMATICALLY and it is ridiculously expensive. I get that food has gone up but they have taken advantage of the situation to get rich. The meals here are NOT worth the cost.
