If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have tried this place a few times and they've always been decent, nothing to write home about. They are never on time even with an appointment. And anytime I have requested a specific person, I end up with someone else. They are not very friendly in there either. I went in for an acrylic fill yesterday which took an hour and a half. The tech Kim drilled my nails so hard she cut my finger. She made multiple fingers bleed. She drilled all of my cuticles off! All of my fingers have been burning because of this. The acrylic is so thick and ugly. And my nails are way too long, even though I asked her 3 times to make them shorter. I asked for the chrome top coat and later learned it's an extra $15! My 4 year old daughter could have painted them better. I don't think this tech knew what she was doing. I will never go back and don't recommend this place to anyone.
I need to start this review by saying I really wanted to like this place; close to my house, very nice and clean and what seemed like nice staff. I called earlier to make appointments for my sister and myself - they were scheduled for 5:15p. We arrived on time and we're told that one of us could get started but it would be a little wait for the second person because they were short staffed - understandable so we said ok. My pedicure was started on time and we figured it okay for her to wait a little bit since I was also getting a gel manicure. What should have been a few minutes turned into an hour plus wait for my sister. She sat in cold water and a tub that stopped working properly. I had to ask for them to refill her tub so she would at least have warm water - her pedicure started at about 6:30p Come to find out a walk in was accepted before our appointments. My gel manicure started at about 6:45p - we both started to feel rushed since the place closes at 7pm. The person doing my nails started doing a regular manicure at first and needed to wipe my nails clean and start over, once he started with the gel polish I tried to excuse myself multiple times saying I just needed to go because I could tell the quality of what I was receiving was going to be poor. Nail polish all over my skin, half my nails not colored - I made mention of it and again said I just needed to leave figuring at this point I will just go somewhere else another day. He put on another coat and then said "come back tomorrow and I'll redo them" clearly seeing how awful the application was as well. We went to pay and I made it clear that if it was so bad that I needed to come back I would not pay for that service. My sister was still charged full price despite waiting so long which I was unhappy with as well. Khony was very sweet as she was who we dealt with for our pedicures and when I went to tip her asked for the managers number before leaving which she gave. We were out the door when I realized I left my shoes so my sister went back into grab them. Walking back in she fell on the floor, not one person tried to help her or retrieve the shoes - she had to ask bluntly. When she fell the dried polish on her toes already chipped and she hurt her knee. I have been getting my nails done for 20+ years and I have never had an experience like this before. I really am never one to complain having worked in hospitality my whole life but this was unlike anything I have ever dealt with before. 5:15pm to 7:45pm for 2 pedicures and a gel manicure with appointments is crazy. A walk in should have had to wait not us. There were opportunities where this could have been avoided for all. I am understanding of the times and being short staffed and also understanding of problems that arise. If we had been made privy of the wait time or what happened we could have made the decision on our own to wait or not - really just so displeased with this experience and the fact that we both need to go back somewhere and have our nails done again.
I've stopped in without an appointment a couple of times and they have been consistently accommodating. Ken was my tech most recently, and he was great!! I have a very specific idea of the color I want...whiteish pink translucent high gloss top coat. I've literally been laughed at in other salons. They achieve my desired color every time. The salon is clean, pretty and everyone is so nice.
Yesterday was my third time at Garden City Nail Spa. I have been impressed every single time. I have gotten gel twice and dip once. Each time my nails lasted for 3+ weeks. The salon is also extremely clean, which is the first priority. Kim did my nails yesterday and did an amazing job - thorough and was so personable and sweet. this is my new nail salon.
Positives: Clean Salon. Tools are packaged for each client. Prices are very reasonable. Negatives: Nail Tech rounded my nails when it was clear by looking at them that I shape them squared. She also shortened my nails as well. She never ask what I preferred. She was also very nipper happy with my proximal fold skin and cuticles. It was very hard to understand them. Chipped after one day as well.
Got my toes done by Mel today. I opted for more expensive Lavender Pedicure ($55) which included the bath salts, scrub, mask and cream. Mel did a great job bringing my feet back to life. Plan for 1.5 hours if you get this luxury treatment. Very clean inside. I will go back
I just left garden city mail incredibly disappointed. An older male was removing my nail polish. After wrapping them in foil, he left to work on another lady getting a pedicure. Without washing his hands or changing the drill head he used on me, he began working on her feet. Once finished he came back to remove the remaining gel polish. Again - without changing the drill head or washing his hands. I asked kindly for a clean drill, and he obliged. Once he began drilling my nails, he cut me once on my right pinkie finger and again on my right index finger. I pulled my hand back, and asked him not to use the drill anymore because he cut 50% of the fingers he has now worked on. He huffed and puffed and told me I needed to wait for another tech because I'M TOO PICKY. As if somehow his inability to use a drill or clean products is my fault? He told me I would have had to wait 20 minutes for another tech. So I got up and left. I asked to speak to a manager, and she apologized and said she would fix my nails in 10 minutes. I appreciate her trying to make the situation right, but the damage had been done. I walked out of the salon with my gel polished half removed and two bloody fingers. I have been going to this salon for a year and a half. I really hope they don't let this employee work on people's nails again until he reviews sanitation procedures and learns how to use the drill. Being cut with that thing isn't fun. I unfortunately won't be going back.
My first time there was amazing. The place is beautiful & clean! Staff was very friendly and attentive. There's so many colors to choose from! I went with my mother and daughter. I had Tammy and she was amazing she did exactly what I wanted. My mom had Thomas and she was very happy with his work. My daughter had another woman who's name I didn't get but she also did a great job! I'm definitely going back. Not to mention that the prices are very reasonable!

Was excited to find a place with online appointments and I still had to wait about 25 minutes past my appointment. Also the woman that was working on me was rough and I texted my friends that she was going to make me bleed and 2 minutes later she took a chunk out of my pinky toe with the foot rasp. It's been a week and my toe still has not healed. I was not given any sort of discount for that so when I asked for one, the owner/manager seemed mad about it and gave me a lousy $10 off. I shouldn't have had to pay at all and I certainly shouldn't have had to ask for one. Poor customer service and rough technicians read more

My pedicure was great but she didn't put the toe spreader in well which caused it to smudge one of my toenails and she got annoyed with me for asking for it to be fixed. The dip nails that I received were pretty bad. The entire process was rushed and the person doing my nails didn't seem to put much effort in. The nails were really poorly shaped. The woman sitting next to me being served by a different person actually asked to stop halfway through and just pay for what had been done so far because her nails were being shaped so poorly. Also I was not given the color that I asked for but didn't realize until it was too late. read more

Got my toes done by Mel today. I opted for more expensive Lavender Pedicure ($55) which included the bath salts, scrub, mask and cream. Mel did a great job bringing my feet back to life. Plan for 1.5 hours if you get this luxury treatment. Very clean inside. I will go back read more

The staff was really nice but I'm not crazy about my nails. I think if you want intricate designs you might want to temper expectations. read more

I always think how beautiful and peaceful this place is but today I am just super annoyed. The manicure took forevvvvver and was so messy. For $35 and a longer than usual time, this is not worth it and I won't be back. read more

Decided to come for the first time, my pedicure was over the top just amazing, but when it came to do mine and my friends nails the guy who did it not only cut her but cut me also. He cut her multiple times! When he was doing my nails he cut them way too short and cut the nails on an angle so they look crooked as well as putting them on my nails crooked. The owner is an amazing nail lady and I wish she could've done my nails but she was busy :( read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. My sister and I (who's review will be up soon) had appointments for 5:15pm. At first glance the salon was super clean, beautifully decorated and quite. When the lady Came to bring us over to the pedicure station she said how they were short staffed (4 people staffed) and how she would start my sister's pedicure first because she was getting a mani and pedi and I was only getting a pedi. Little did I know I was gonna be sitting there for over an hour in a broken foot soaker that kept making horrific noises since the plastic wrap kept getting stuck in the jet, I literally had to hold the wrap back with my feet to stop it from sounding like it was going to explode. Then the woman doing my sister's nails just turned off the machine as a whole and I sat in cold water for probably 30 minutes. The man who was supposed to do my toes (thank god he didn't) took forever to take me because he decided to take an acrylic nail WALK IN which took forever so the woman doing my sister's nails had to do my pedi and he did her gel manicure. As I was drying my toes my sister came over absolutely pissed because the man did her nails TERRIBLY. Blue paint everywhere. When we finally paid which we shouldn't have, we left when my sister forgot her shoes. I went back in and slipped on the wet floor and hurt my ankle and knee and everyone just sat there and started at me until I yelled and asked someone to get the shoes. My toe polish chipped when I fell and I still had to pay full price and tip for awful service plus having to wait for over an hour. I will never come back here and I can't wait to wake up tomorrow with a bruised knee and the troubles of having to go to another nail salon. read more
