I am an…read morearchitect and well-versed in air sealing, but I did not have personal experience with removing old fiberglass batt insulation and installing only two inches of closed-cell insulation. In our 1868 Victorian home, Ryan and his crew removed all of the old fiberglass insulation from remodels we'd done over the years and installed closed-cell insulation in the attic ceilings and floor. I'll admit that when I saw the large amounts of old insulation being removed, I seriously wondered if I had made the right decision. Rather than jumping to conclusions, I waited until I could compare our December 2024 PG&E gas bill with our December 2025 bill. Since we heat our home with a gas furnace, my focus was on gas usage rather than electricity. In December 2024, our house was cold--uncomfortably so. The furnace cycled on and off constantly throughout the day, and we experienced significant temperature swings. The old insulation simply could not hold heat. Fast forward to December 2025. While our gas usage in therms was similar, the outcome could not have been more different. Our home is now warm and comfortable. We keep the thermostat at about 72 degrees during the day, and at night we set it to 62--yet the temperature holds steady around 66 degrees all night. In other words, the heater doesn't even come on after we go to bed. The result is a dramatically more comfortable home with no increase in gas usage. I expected our December 2025 bill to be through the roof, but instead it remained essentially the same--with vastly better performance and comfort. I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm so glad I put my trust in Ryan. We finally have a warm home during the coldest month of the year, and going forward we will be using less therms per month.

Ryan explained everything in great detail and educated me on things like where rodents could get into the house, what they like to eat, the difference between mice and rats (who knew rats were so intelligent), different kinds of traps, etc. We walked around the house and identified spots that should be sealed up. He offered practical solutions like chicken wire and expanding spray foam (typically used for insulation). He asked me if neighbors were setting out poison because he saw several dead critters in my crawl space. It turns out, a week later I did see a poison trap set up a few houses away from me. His down to earth approach on problem solving resonated with me. There's no black and white answer when you have rodents. Ryan was very patient and made sure I understood all of the options. It's been a month since he came out. Since then, I caught one mouse, sealed up the obvious spots around the house, and haven't seen any new activity. If the rodents do come back, I feel much more prepared to deal with it the next time around. If I can't, I won't hesitate to call Ryan again.

I was having a fence replaced and, when the guys doing the work started to remove an old post, they…read moredisturbed what they thought was a bee hive. They said the "bees" were coming after them. I could see the "bees" flying all around, so I told the fence crew to stay away from the area and I ran inside to call an exterminator. I called Cardiff and explained what happened. The person who answered the phone said that she was going to patch me directly to the tech. David answered his phone and I again explained the situation. David said they were likely wasps. He asked where I was located and it turned out he was not too far away. David said he would take care of the job he was headed to and then come right over. I was hoping someone could come the same day, but I know people are stretched thin and are busy. I was so grateful that David felt the urgency of the situation and wanted to do what he could to help. David arrived and immediately spotted the nest. He confirmed they were wasps and explained what he would do to eliminate them. I approved the work, then he suited up to protect himself from angry wasps and got right to eliminating what he said was a substantial nest. When he was done, David explained what I would see in terms of the foragers coming back to the nest and that it should be safe to work there the next morning. He made sure I had his number, just in case. Cardiff was highly responsive to what I described as an emergency. David was experienced and friendly. The price was fair. I am definitely going to call them when my fence work is done to help manage the ants that think they own the place!
