My last two visits here have been really great--so I recommend this place to anyone living around Avalon, Brooklyn Air, and Brooklyn Gold. The first time I received a regular manicure for $12. She did a great job, and it lasted an entire week! I have oily nail beds, so polish tends to chip quickly for me. I was impressed by how long it lasted. I went back a week later, and I asked for a polish change. My cuticles and nail shape still looked good, so I wanted just a cheap, quick change. My nail technician still filed my nails a bit so they looked perfect, gave me a quick hand massage, and finished with a quick shoulder massage! How nice! I really wanted to love this place. A) because it is downstairs from my apartment and B) because it is a really nice looking place. I have probably been to Garden Nail and Spa 10 times in the past 3 months. I usually get a gel manicure. The quality of this depends person to person. I have had people become frustrated and leave old polish on and then paint over it. I have also had people do a fantastic job and with a gel lasting 2 weeks I am always drawn back in. I have also had pedicures here. They ALWAYS chip. I started to blame myself thinking maybe I am a little rough with my feet. That was until I decided to take a break from gel manis and get regular ones here. I have gone twice for regular manis. The first time my manicure chipped within 48 hours. The second time I went I promised I would use rubber gloves to wash dishes and add a top coat and follow all the tips to prolong a manicure. I never got that chance.... The Essie color that I picked was really dull when they applied it to my toes then when she went to do the mani I saw her add something to the bottle to make it less thick. I now know this was some kind of thinner. When I got home (all of a 1 minutes walk away) I sat down and turned on the TV and my nails were chipped. Not smudged as if they hadn't dried but chipped, large flakes of polish were practically jumping off my nails. I totally blame this on the quality of their polishes which they are clearly stretching. I have since gone to other nail spas and had my manicures last up to week so I def know it is a problem with this place and not me. This place is awesome, and not just because it's downstairs from my apartment. I can't believe they've been open almost a year! Great job Garden Nail! First, everybody is so friendly and it's CLEAN! Yes, you read that right. In NYC that's hard to find... Second, they take so much time on the most important part of your pedicure...the leg massage. Some places just give you a quick leg squeeze and your on your way. I'd say about 5 minutes plus which is desperately needed after schlepping around the city. They also have a pretty decent selection of polish including Essie, OPI and China Glaze. Third, they give a great little neck/upper back massage while you let your nails dry. Not super long, but once again, added free bonus! I've had the $10 for 10 minute neck masasge and it's fabulous. And from what I hear, the owner and his wife give pretty great 1/2 hour and hour massages for a really great price. I'll be getting one ASAP! And last, they do waxing too. I was desperate right before vacation and was scared not going to my regular place in the city, but the girl was amazing!! One more thing, if you don't have cash for a tip, tell them to put it on your card. Despite the high price, due to its close proximity to my apartment I frequent Garden Spa. It doesn't compare to my usual, cheap Manhattan spots... But a girl's gotta get her nails done. That being said, the space is gigantic (l hesitate to say almost too big), clean and airy. It's a modern, minimal look with occasional vines hanging from the walls and radio softly playing in the background. Overall the employees are all incredibly friendly and hardworking. I usually like to go to the older women because those two take their time and care. The Korean owners are super accommodating and even stayed open late one Sunday night for me :) The 10 min chair massage ($10) is golden. If you have a problem area, definitely mention it and they will focus on it with care and great attention. I think they have a mani/pedi/10 min massage for $38. This place is so modern, spacious and clean! I came here for a pedicure. I usually go to a different nail salon not too far from here, because the price is half of what I payed here, but you truly do get what you pay for. I didn't feel bad spending 10 extra dollars here (it was $20 total). I was happy to see that they are very sanitary! This is not something I can say for most salons in the city. They scrubbed out the tub after each client, and had sterilization equipment in plain view. There were plenty of colors to choose from. They also have an array of magazines for you to enjoy while getting services done. The pedicure itself was great. I work retail so I'm on my feet all day, which isn't the best for feet. She buffed, and smoothed my feet like I have never seen before. She was amazing. I'm thinking about trying the 7 dollar callus eliminator next time. At the end of the pedicure before she painted my nails, she brought out the warm wet towel, and also gave me a mini leg/foot massage which felt great!!! She also put this hot oil on the heels of my feet which quickly turned solid. I wanna say it was paraffin, but I don't know. What I do know is that my heels felt and looked great after removing it. My nails were painted very neatly. I'm writing this a week after I got my nails done, and there are still no chips, letting me know that they use quality products. While my feet were drying, my technician came over and gave me yet another mini back/neck/shoulder massage. Really makes me want to come back for their massage services!! The only complaint I have is that I payed with my credit card and was sad to see that they had no line for tips. I feel that any place of business that offers a service should include this as it makes for a smoother transaction. All in all, great experience. I walked in to request a soak which removed my old acrylics and they told me that i'd have to a wait for my turn since there was only 1 person that could do it and I thought that was quite inconvenient but their appointment was finished by the same time my soak was complete. Horrible service- I have been here multiple times as I live next door. They dilute their nail polish with acetone right in front of you- the result is not what you paid for. Been here before and wasn't bad but when I came back it was a different store. noticed that their tools were being rinsed instead of cleaned. I got a gel manicure and there is plenty of polish on the skin and cuticles. What got me more upset was that they charge 3.99% for using your debit/credit, which whatever. THE BEST MANI PEDI SINCE I MOVED TO NY!!! I came here two days ago with one my BFFs who recently moved into the Avalon (just steps away from the salon.) I hadn't planned on getting my nails done at all this weekend. Sista's on a TIGHT budget and I've been doing my own pedicures and dry manicures. But I was just rolling with my homie and this was part of her plan for her Saturday off. I loved the spacious airiness of the shop. It's well organized with plenty of space. AN AMPLE AMOUNT of pedicure stations. CLEAN. Nicely decorated. We sat for a few minutes waiting to be served. Originally I decided that I would just get a polish change on my fingers and toes. But as I followed my BFF to the pedicure station I suddenly changed my mind. I believe it was the owner/manager who serviced me. She gave me a thorough pedicure. Not just the standard cheap kind. I like that she didn't let my feet soak in the water to the point that they become prunish (which happens to lessen the wear of the polish.) She exfoliated my feet and my calves and tended to the bottoms of my feet. Which really take a brutal beating with all the walking in flip flops and sandals on hot NYC streets. She gave me a peachy-scented paraffin treatment on my heels. Which my BFF told me is the STANDARD for their $20 pedicure. Most places charge extra for a treatment like this. (They also have other treatments that they charge extra for.) She then painted my toes Lighthouse: China Glaze's glittery golden yellow (happens to be my favorite color.) While they dried, she carried my belongings over to a manicure station and commenced to painting my fingers the same color. She finished by giving me an AMAZING massage on my neck, shoulders and upper back while I was at the drying station. SIDE BAR: I decided last year that I'm done with tips and acrylic overlays (which I've been getting off and on since high-school) I've really been looking for a place that can treat my natural nails. Because I work in a school and am always washing my hands, my manicures don't last long. I was happy to see that they offer Gelish soak-off color gel polish. Which is good to know as I want to keep my natural nails looking great. I plan on getting the gel color for the new school year and for a wedding I'll be in next year. Right now, I'm just focused on re-building and strengthening my nails. Anywhoo, I am quite please. This location was actually the sales office for the Toren originally and later for the Avalon Green. I could not be MORE excited that it turned into a Nail Salon. Yes, we really need a (real) grocery store pretty badly, but hey, it's better than a vacant retail space. I finally made it there for the first time on Thursday night, since they close at 8 and I work late. It's a really nice open space with tons of pedicure chairs, plenty of rooms for beauty treatments, some massage chairs and a decent number of manicure stations. They could use more US Weekly's -- coz that's my guilty pleasure at any nail salon -- but they just opened, so I'm sure they are working on it. The nail polish selection was fantastic and the woman who took care of my pedicure gave a killer massage. Ok, maybe y'all don't unless you are a friend or stalk me (which, btw, I am completely and totally fine with either), but I am so fickle! Sue me. The location and cleanliness of this place is GREAT. I watched as they cleaned each pedicure station after each client and as they unwrapped sterilized tools to use on each customer. I was definitely impressed. A little unimpressed with the language barrier. I wanted gel "tips", but I guess there they are known as gel "extensions" so my experience lasted a little bit longer than anticipated (was in this salon for about 2 hours just for nails) but once all that was cleared, I am happy with my pedicure and acrylic nails result. So, remember, EXTENSIONS not TIPS. I'll definitely be back because of the close proximity to my house but we'll see if I become a regular. The salon by my job may be slightly better. read more

This was probably the worst full set I've ever gotten. I asked for a basic almond set and (what I thought) was a basic design, and not only is the shaping terrible, but the nails are now lifting and popping off. I wouldn't even write this review, but during my set the woman who was doing my design (Debbie) screamed at me and dropped my hands when I asked for a different base color. She called another woman to do the design instead. At this point, she had applied the base to only one nail, and after seeing the color I calmly asked for something a bit darker that I thought would look better. Debbie said that I was being difficult, and began ranting in a language that I couldn't understand but considering she was quite obviously pointing at me and motioning toward my hands and my nails, I knew that she was talking negatively about me. At one point she began banging on a chair, and gesturing aggressively toward me. When she finally calmed down about 10 minutes later, she came back and moved the woman she'd ordered to finish (the woman hadn't done anything in that time and we'd just stared at each other), and applied the base I'd asked and did my design. She said she was "just confused" and didn't understand what I wanted, but clearly she did since she'd come back with the exact base I'd requested before her tantrum. Seems like she just didn't want me to ask for anything, even though i was very very clear and politely asked for what I wanted. After my design, Debbie began acting overly nice and saying that they really hope that I come back and apologizing for her tantrum. I'm guessing she's run away a few other clients. I tipped well, not because of the service but because it's a pandemic and I wanted to, but this place was terrible. It's unfortunate because they have a great location. This was the most uncomfortable and unprofessional nail salon experience I've ever had in all of my years of getting my nails done. I have never been screamed at or embarrassed during a service, not even as a child. I was excited to find a nail salon so close to my apartment since I recently moved, but I will never step foot in this place again and I don't recommend that anyone else does either. At the very least, avoid Debbie at all costs--every one else seemed nice and warm but unfortunately I think that Debbie is the go to person for nail designs. Went in here on a weekday during lunch. I went for a simple polish change on my acrylic tips. The salon is large and clean. Staff are friendly. They have a large selection of polish colors that are on trend. The service is excellent. The technician did a great job on the polish and was happy to allow me to try as many polishes as I want on my nails and made great recommendations (most technicians would get annoyed). I was a bit disappointed that they didn't file for neatness as some other nail salons typically do. But, it was a great job & I'm pleased. read more

The basic pedicure includes a paraffin dip (win), the gel mani is comparable to others in its price, but they are extra meticulous here (it follows that the mani takes longer than other places, but it's worth the sacrifice in the name of perfectionism). The real winner is THE FREAKIN CHAIR MASSAGE. I am a chair massage addict. I've been doing pretty well in the past year, limiting it to only during pedicure visits (once a month like your standard basic b) but this chair massage is gonna have me fall off the wagon. I'm used to paying $13 for a pedicure in my neighborhood, however that cheap price comes with sacrifices... like cleanliness. Since I started working in the Metrotech area, I decided to try and find a place near there instead. This is by far the best place I've ever had a pedicure before (I do my own fingernails). The standard pedi here is $20- and it's well worth it. Everything was clean, and hygienic, and the space is big and airy- which means no strong acetone smell burning your nostrils. They gave a great leg and foot massage, as well as a paraffin treatment for free! They also give you a great little shoulder massage when you sit down to dry your nails. They definitely don't do that in the hood. All in all I was happy, and I will be back weekly. I would give the place 5 stars, but the decor is a little cheesy. I decided to try this place for a massage because they are 4 minutes away from where I work. I was a little weary about paying $70.00 for an hour in a nail salon but I gave it a shot. (They charge a bit more for massages in a private room.) Ginny was the one who gave me the massage and she did really well. I told her my problem areas and that's what she mostly concentrated on. 10 minutes before the massage ended I asked her to massage my quads and she complied. The hand and arm massage she gave me was excellent. When she massaged my temples I was super surprised and Happy. I will definitely be going back for a lunchtime massage. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Kudos to Ginny. She was GREAT!!! 6-17-16 UPDATE I went to see Ginny and this time she massaged me with hot stones for a little while. I forgot to add that UNLIKE Massage Envy you get the full hour and not 50 minutes. Ginny is definitely my go to masseuse from now on. I really wanted to love it because of the close proximity but I'd rather travel a little further (and even pay a little more) for better quality service. I wouldn't scream "stay away!" from this salon (although that picture of those cracking yellow acrylics on here are pretty bad) but I wouldn't come with high expectations. Yes, it is a very large salon but I came in on a weekday at 3:30 when the salon was quiet but I still feel as though my service was rushed. Since moving to BK, I have adopted this salon as my go-to spot because of price, convenience, cleanliness, and most of the time they do a decent job. Regularly get gel manicures and their spa pedicure ($45). Note: Pay cash or they charge you tax on your CC. Wouldn't say quality or skill is great, just not horrible. I am very picky and particular. You can tell them you want a square shape numerous times, but they all lean slightly towards round and depending on who you get, the cuticle cut job is variable. Never been cut, but some don't take much off or care to push the nail beds back. Polish application is variable also. There is a man that works there (he might be part owner), and I recommend asking for anyone else; he is very nice (they all are) but he is thee worst. I had another lady correct my nail shapes after him. Also, the images of nails with different designs in these yelp reviews... Not sure where the images came from as I've asked most of the girls for nail art and none of them (at least in the evening shifts) know how. So I always just get just a plain gel manicure. I have also had lip and eyebrow waxing done here. I wouldn't say they messed up my brows, but I stressed them on not taking off too much, so that is exactly what I got -- just a wax job... No shaping, no trimming... Nothing more than wax on my face and a piece of cloth to pull it off. I just ended up shaping them myself at home. Overall, I've always left feeling... just ok. Never great. If any of my services were bad, they do try to fix it, but never to the level I really want. It's a lack of skill in my opinion. I am actively looking for another salon. The location is easy to find and the inside is spacious. I was greeted right away and chose my nail colors and we were started. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure for $48! If you value hygiene and your health DO NOT come to this place. I usually don´t write reviews, but feel compelled to tell my story. I had been to Garden Spa a few times for a mani/pedi. The service is rushed, but I never had any real complaints until recently. After getting a pedicure, I contracted a plantar WART on my left foot from them NOT CLEANING the tub properly. The treatment has been really painful and it´s been 8 weeks and the wart is still not 100% removed. To give you some context, first I had to get the wart frozen by a dermatologis, which is super painful and prevents me from walking comfortably for a few days. Then I had to apply Compound W, which is topical salicylic acid which makes the dead skin fall out. I had to apply it every day for 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks, the wart shrunk, but didn´t dissapear. So, I had to go to the dermatologist again to get it frozen. To this date, the wart is still not gone. it´s infuriating that I have to deal with this on my foot because a technician did not take the time to properly clean the tub. They always seemed so rushed, and it´s extremely upsetting. Please do yourself a favor and do not go here. This time it was a wart, but who knows what else could be contracted here. read more

This place is close to work so i decided to give them a 2nd chance. I decide to get a pedicure with callous remover and a gel manicure. The lady doing my feet told me the gel color I picked wasn't going to match with the color I picked for my feet. She picked a color out and changed the gel color. I wasn't happy about it but i figured ok try something new. Across from me getting their nails done was a young black lady getting acrylic on her nails. (I mention her race bcuz I truly believe had she been a different color the worker would've been more respectful) This Young lady was NOT happy with her nails. She voiced it in a low tone. I could hear bcuz I was so close. The worker attempted to fix the nail but could not. Later she called the worker over that was doing my feet. The lady explained each nail looked different and uneven. (Low tone) the woman working on her nails JUMPS UP yelling in Chinese takes All of her supplies puts them away and refused to continue working on her Client. Confused the lady askif anyone else could do her nails she was gong away for the weekend. NOTHING... Finally the Young lady said I'll just pay for my feet and go somewhere else for my nails. The worker still talking in her language. I found the worker to be RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL & UNPROFESSIONAL. She was a client. If you couldn't mk her happy hv another person work on her and offer a discount for her inconvenience. They wanted the same lady to do my S&S I'm like I'll wait the 30 mins for somebody else. read more

I've been going here for almost a year, they give above average pedicures, but the last 2 times I've come I've had horrible experiences. I got sns for the first time on my last visit and all went well until the nail tech decided to continue cutting down a hangnail of mine and pushing the blood out despite me telling her how painful it was and that she was going to cause an infection. she said it was so I didn't get sick. for a whole week my finger was swollen. I'm so lucky I didn't get an infection. yesterday I went to get another sns set but this time got the older lady. she absolutely ruined my nails that I've been growing out for 3 months to the point I had to cut them all off. she kept burning me with the e file and hitting my skin despite telling her multiple times how painful it was. she was stabbing me with her nails and was incredibly rough and unskilled. my nails aren't even fully coated with th sns and is already cracking. at the end, she told me that if I wanted it done better to go to the other lady I saw last time. she should NOT be working here. I got my acrylics done by her once and she had noooo idea what she was doing. I've been coming here for a couple years but the quality of the place has been getting worse and worse. The technicians are nice but a lot of them do not know how to properly paint nails. I've repeatedly had to tell many of the technicians that they need to bring the polish to the base of the nail and to the sides so that a rim of unpainted nail isn't encircling the polish. Tonight, even after I told the technician what the problem was, she chose to not fix it. She also cut my cuticles quite aggressively and made two of my cuticle beds bleed. I've been coming to this salon several times a month since they've been open. I'm usually pretty happy with the quality of the services...except in the warmer months when the salon gets busier and everything feels a little rushed. The manicures are generally pretty thorough and they have a great selection of regular and gel colors. Usually they are staffed well and you dont have to wait too long. I really wanted to like this salon. I live in the building next door so it is definitely convenient. Unfortunately, the few times that I went for manicures, my nail polish chipped in less than 48 hours each time. I just went to have a manicure yesterday afternoon and every single nail chipped by 8am today. That set a new record of less than 24 hours! If I could give half a star, I would. Absolutely horrible i cant even begin to explain my experience with this pathetic excuse of a salon. I went to get a pedicure. The pedicurist didnt know how to paint my toe nails she left them looking like complete shit. The coats of polish on each toe were uneven, when she put the plastic wrap on my toes she didnt bother to check to see if they were dry. When i got home and took it off they looked like this!!!!!!
