August 25, 2025 - Silverton, OR We had such an enjoyable meal here on a quiet Monday afternoon. Our table was right next to a huge picture window overlooking the Oregon Garden and the valley beyond--absolutely beautiful. They also have dog-friendly outdoor patio seating, which I always appreciate. Since our pup was not with us, we opted for the comfort of indoor seating on this hot, humid day. Service was warm and prompt from the moment we arrived. We're usually meal-sharers, but after a day of hiking, we each ordered our own. I chose the pesto orzo chicken salad, while my husband went for the pasta in lemon caper cream sauce with grilled chicken. To pair with our meal, we shared a bottle of Saviah Cellars The Jack Chardonnay ($39), which was crisp and delicious. My salad was excellent, fresh and flavorful, but the star of the table was definitely the pasta. It was so good that I kept sneaking bites from my husband's plate. read more

Garden View Restaurant, Silverton, OR - August 25, 2025 We came in on a Monday afternoon after an enjoyable hike at Silver Falls State Park. We had worked up a hunger. We left the pup back in the air conditioned motorhome, but they do have outdoor seating if you want to bring your dog. They weren't very busy at all. We were seated indoors and our waiter showed up right away. We were given menus and water and given a few minutes to decide what we wanted to drink. The indoor restaurant area has an upper and lower level. There is a large window looking out from the dining room towards the Oregon Gardens. The dining area has a couple different themes. One is lots of pictures of old-fashioned wooden covered bridges. Another theme is a collection of antique China that is displayed along a shelf near the ceiling. Finally, there are a few pictures of Italian gardens. I also liked the small decorative metal-encased glass lights hanging from the ceiling above the tables. After looking at the menu, my wife decided to get a glass of the Saviah Cellars "The Jack" Chardonnay and I ordered an old-fashioned with makers mark bourbon. Both drinks were outstanding. I decided to order the lemon caper cream sauce pasta with grilled chicken and my wife ordered the pesto orzo chicken salad. Both meals were delicious, especially my cream sauce chicken pasta. Our server was great. He even convinced us to buy a bottle of the Chardonnay that was very good and reasonably priced at $39 a bottle. read more

I've been for a conference. They serve breakfast in this restaurant. I went with my family for lunch in the restaurant. It was late but service was really inconsistent. I got the wagyu burger. I'm dubious it's actually wagyu. Either it wasn't or that was some disrespectful cooking on it. The components were ok. Everyone's food was just ok. A little expensive but it's probably tourist tax. Overall I feel like the conference food is just being served at the restaurant. Take a short drive from the garden and get better food elsewhere. read more

Everything about our experience was horrible. We waited an hour and a half for our food considering the restaurant only had 5 other tables occupied. Our table was never checked on during this time or offered drink refills. When we finally got our food 4 items were missing. Including my entire meal and my father in laws. My father in law is allergic to onions, told the waitress, and when he received his food it had onions. After it was sent back and returned you could visibly see there were still onions on the sandwich indicating it had been scraped off. Every time the waitress returned I reminded her I still had not gotten my food. Then she admitted she forgot to put my order in. After 20 minutes of still waiting I told them I no longer wanted it because my party was done eating. Our entire party was SEVERELY disappointed. read more

The hotel is great. The restaurant is not very good. Extremely over priced, mediocre food. Vegetarian options are limited. My pasta was very oily and not vee appetizing. The breakfast is good! Back in May 2025 we ate lunch at the Garden. Prior to this we'd eaten there multiple times and enjoyed the food and service but in May our dining experience was so bad we hadn't gone back. Service was awful. We waited over 1/2 hour for our food and the restaurant was practically empty. When food did arrive, son's hamburger was so burnt it was inedible. Had to send it back. Fast forward to Dec 2025. At the resort with friend who want to eat in the lounge. (They share same kitchen as restaurant.) The bar menu wasn't available for some reason. No explanation offered. We ordered appetizers and waited close to an hour for them to arrive. One order was for a hummus plate that didn't need to be cooked or heated. The other for a spinach dip platter. Diners that ordered full meals were getting served. While wait staff apologized for delay, there was never any explanation as to why a simple order took that long. Two unacceptable experiences months apart earns a spot on my Don't-Waste-Your-Time list. A once great, efficient restaurant has become its opposite. A response indicating customer satisfaction is important etc. etc. is absolutely meaningless unless you take action and work to restore the service and quality diners used to enjoy and came to expect. read more

Service was fine, food wasn't. We were there before anyone on Valentine's Day, our reservation was for 4:30 to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. We were seated in the corner when all tables were empty after I asked for the nicest table in advance for my mom's birthday. We waited a little over an hour to be served after being told we were the first ticket up. No appetizers ordered, and while the steak in the surf and turf was good, the potato was stone cold like it came out of a refrigerator. The asparagus wasn't fully cooked and the bernaise sauce was flavorless cream. I won't be going back and don't recommend them for a special occasion. The time here was for breakfast as part of our hotel stay. The view was ok on a foggy morning as all of the tables are booths and look out over the gardens. The lights for the festival can't be seen in the morning, but probably cool to be there at night for that. Breakfast consisted of sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, yogurt by the spoonful not individual containers, and toast. You serve yourself buffet style. We were there at 8 am on a Saturday and the ketchup and salsa were out as well as the sausage and toast. Give one of the employees a heads up on the sausage as the line was out the door. Food was mediocre and not hot. Plastic spoons were offered. There's one door to enter/exit the restaurant which is a bit tight when there are kids running around and people standing in line to enter. Saw one busser without a tub running around with small plates in her hands. Most of the tables needed to be cleared. read more

We eat here esp at holidays and I can't believe everyone hasn't had the great delicious experience we have enjoyed. Thanksgiving buffet/Valentines/Easter/Mother's Day and esp Christmas or New Years when they have it open has been a blessing for us....our service has always been good and the food excellent and we used to always stay overnight which made it even better....lately due to medical issues we've had to go home(only about 16 miles away)but breakfast/lunch/&dinner have been super. Oregon Garden is a phenomenal 40 acre botanical gardens. Plenty of shrubs and flowers to admire. A nice gift shop with café. There's a resort hotel also with restaurant. And an historic Frank Lloyd Wright designed home on to tour. Been there done that all a few times. Today a friend and I are eating grass fed burgers for lunch at the resort Garden view restaurant. We mountain biked for four hours at Silver Falls State Park. We are ready to chow down. The grass fed burger looks like a half pound patty. The burger with buns and condiments between looks like 5 pounds at about a half a foot tall. Super size me - big boy - whopper! It's OK to pig out once in a while because it's local Oregon quality, pasture raised 100% grass fed beef. Yum - add lettuce, tomato, pickle, crispy onion rings, slab of bacon, any cheese (Pepper jack for me), BBQ sauce and the fresh buns. When you're hungry after touring the botanical gardens and or touring another local attraction nearby - then here's the place to get some good grub to fill your hungry tub. Service was at the forefront in this picturesque restaurant. Everyone was as pleasantly professional as you could expect, and the food was wonderful. The view is lovely, and we had friendly service. There was only one vegetarian entree on the menu, and it was saturated with an oily pesto. It was not very appetizing and we did not finish it. I also tried the salmon, which similar to what I might whip up at home. It was ok but expensive for what it was. Please add some healthy vegetarian options to the menu. As a place that seems set up to cater to large groups, I am sure more of your guests would appreciate it! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed eating lunch here with my friends from out of town who were staying at the resort. We ordered salads - Caesar with grilled salmon for two of us and Cobb salad for the third person in our party - which were delivered promptly and devoured by the three of us hungry people. We sat at a table overlooking the gardens, on a patchy-clouds kind of day, and the view was gorgeous even though it's not quite spring and not much is in bloom or leafed out yet. My friends also had breakfast at the Garden View the following morning and said it was good and that they appreciated the included meal with their resort stay. Made reservations through Open Table for a birthday dinner, since we were staying the night at the resort. Our reservation check-in was easy and we were seated promptly on the outdoor patio as requested. The hostess who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. Our server, Sarah, was exceptional. She was friendly, helpful, prompt and accommodating...especially since we brought our two small (well behaved) pups with us. We ordered the steamed clams, coconut prawns, Caesar salad, and caprese salad. My husband ordered a Kentucky mule and I received complimentary ice-cream for a birthday dessert. The clams were really good. The prawns were good. The caprese had a basil paste instead of the actual leaves, which was disappointing. The Caesar was really good...the dressing was perfect, not too salty like some can be. The homemade strawberry chocolate brownie ice-cream was absolutely delicious! My husband and I are still talking about it! We may have to stop in and get some to go after we check-out tomorrow ;-) Overall a nice experience. The dinner menu is not very large, but is varied enough to cover all tastes...On this occasion, my wife ordered the Surf & Turf and I ordered the Stuffed Chicken...Presentation was a little disappointing on both dishes and the taste was OK...In my opinion, this dining room is a bit awkward, whereas 3/4 of the room is on the lower level and is accessed by going up and down this rather steep set of stairs...I really feel bad for the service staff and elderly customers that have to go up and down these stairs... read more

I'm writing about the Thanksgiving buffet; we've been here before and we usually hit the main holidays if not dining w/relatives so we've been here for Easter, T Giving(4x), Christmas, our anniversary(March) and Valentines Day. The food is always excellent but esp the buffet at Thanksgiving. The quality of the food is spectacular, the variety, the people are so friendly and helpful esp now that I'm walking most of the time w/a cane. I don't usually eat cooked carrots but these carmelized are fantastic....gravy, turkey, shrimp, ham, chicken, salad, rolls, great butter packets, turkey, breakfast goodies, and pies are all delicious...part of your payment covers OJ(excellent), Cranberry juice, water, soda, and then you can order "drinks" which I do if we're staying overnight....nice decorations, love the lights in the regular dining room, bathrooms are very clean(due to age/prostate problems I usually go twice). I ate so many things(2 plates full)that I didn't have room for dessert but my wife had some delicious pie. I don't usually eat g bean cass but it was delicious, too. read more

[Updated to reflect more recent changes to the local restaurant scene] The Garden View does indeed have an amazing view of the Oregon Garden, and of the Willamette Valley below (and the coast range off in the distance). They also have some lovely outdoor seating available. We find the actual food served at the Garden View to be A-OK, but compared to other choices in Silverton or Mt. Angel, it's only worth going to if you want the convenience of staying at the resort to eat. The staff is nice and friendly, so that helps; but the food is just a little lackluster for the upscale venue. One note on our visit Friday night was the recommendation of the house brand Moonstone Zinfandel, which was their most reasonably priced glass of red wine -- I thought it was excellent for the price. So, for a light dinner and a glass of wine, it's an okay choice -- especially if you want to enjoy the garden setting. But for truly creative fair that dazzles the palate, look elsewhere. read more

It has been years since I have eaten here and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with their improved quality. The food was excellent as was the service. I was a little bummed that we couldn't eat outside but when my option is inside or with yellow jackets, I will take inside...it is at a garden after all. I had the seafood pasta and it was the effect balance of seafood to pasta. My only suggestion would be to tail the prawns so it is easier to eat, especially with the clam shells already needing a place to rest after the clam been removed. This will definitely become a regular option when we are in the area. read more

Came here because I booked a room for my son and I at the resort for Christmas... Turns out all the Christmas activities are closed for the length of our 2-night stay (on Christmas). Restaurant was the only thing open that my son could also attend. Started with a glass of sparkling wine.... Which came out in a glass that hadn't been completely dried and wasn't filled up (very disappointing, skimpy pour). Ordered the lasagna and my son got the chicken strips. Food was ok... This is a cool resort but the restaurant is a bit sad. We had a 6:00 pm reservation and our food didn't come till after 7:00. The description of "wild caught salmon" didn't square with what was a freezer burned piece of salmon. My wife liked her salad, but that was about it. Friendly service but not a good meal. read more

Garden View Restaurant I want to focus on and comment about the Garden View Restaurant, the on-site restaurant and lounge at the Oregon Garden Resort, located inside the Oregon Gardens. For well more than a decade, we have been getting the family together for Easter Brunch at the Garden View Restaurant. No more. Each year, brunch becomes more expensive (this year: Adults /$29.95, Seniors / $25.95, and Children / $13.95), and the service and food quality continue to decline. Restaurant staff were unorganized, and clearly frazzled, while we waited 45-minutes past our reservation time. Then they tried to sit six adults in a booth for four, in a room down the hall. So we waited another 15-minutes for a table to open up. The buffet was meh. The omelet station was abandoned this year. As the serving dishes were emptied on the buffet, we had to find a server, and ask for a refill. They were quick to refill ... after they were asked. No more disappointing meals. So excited to find the garden open and be able to move around a bit after this months long shut down. The resort is clearly short staffed but they are doing it right starting with contactless checkin. The restaurant and lounge are both open with limited menus. Staff wear masks and guests sit 6+ feet apart. Despite the challenges, the food is great and service, though slow, is pleasant. I ordered the chef salad two nights in a row -- great flavors , LOTS of protein (chicken, bacon, hard boiled eggs) at an amazing price of $16. My partner had the cedar plank salmon last night -- said it was good but $30 a bit high. Tonight he had the bacon cheese burger and was duly pleased ($13). We added a bottle of Moonstone rose ($19) and a warm brownie ala mode ($10). All served on a wonderful patio overlooking the gardens. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

If you are looking for yummy food, great service with a view, this place is it. A true hidden gem! Even though it's located in the city of Silverton it somehow makes you feel far far away from city life. It seems they update their menus to reflect the seasons so everything is fresh and flavorful. Two stars for staff being nice and it being clean! Went here for lunch with my spouse and ordered the French dip, it was so tough you couldn't get a bite without the entire piece of brisket coming out onto your plate, his burger was okay. On top of that we were one of two groups in the entire restaurant and were seated at opposite ends for them to turn around sit a table of 6 right next to us. We had to leave because of the noise level. Wouldn't recommend, especially for the price they charge for the food. read more

The Oregon Gardens are a beautiful getaway for a day or weekend so it was nice to enjoy a restaurant that kept in theme with the rest of our great experience. We had a lovely booth with a gorgeous view of the Oregon Gardens property and the mountains from a distance. Our service with Hannah was excellent and we appreciated being promply seated as walk-ins coming from a garden tour. I ordered mushroom spinach lasagna which was very good, accompanied by a side of large asparagus stalks. My husband ordered chicken piccata which he enjoyed as well. Our $5 draft beer and draft cider was very good. I really enjoyed the pear cranberry cider! One of my favorite things about living in Oregon is the excellent drafts and locally sourced produce and meat. I have a feeling this restaurant sources locally or grows their own produce based on the food quality. I would just like to see the food portions a bit larger to match the higher price points for these dishes. The gluten-free Chocolate Ganache was a perfect way to end our enjoyable dinner. The food is delicious!! The service was friendly, yet a bit slow-not because the staff wasn't efficient though...they were working their tales off. I think they may have been understaffed for a Friday night. Not their fault-maybe management could add additional staff? The menu (while scaled down) had great options at every price point. I had room service dinner on night 1 and ate in the restaraunt on night 2. Food was equally delicious each night, and room service was very prompt! If you're set on eating outside on the patio don't be disappointed if you get seated inside. The outdoor seating doesn't have much of a view of the property anyways-actually the views from inside are better! read more

Third evening dining in the restaurant here at the resort. And absolutely wonderful. We had a delicious beet carpaccio and the stroganoff was rich and creamy. The food has been great every night and with a beautiful view of the garden. Best part last night and tonight was the service. Our server Sarah was exceptionally attentive and friendly. And even graciously managed to fit us in tonight despite us not having a reservation and it was very busy. We've been staying here a few times a year for about 6 years since my parents retired here and it just keeps getting better and better. read more

We had heard great things about this restaurant, sadly it was not our experience. We were one of two tables of two in the entire restaurant. It took a long time for our sandwiches to arrive and they were cold. We told the waitress and she flippantly told us she would tell the cook. ( we suspect they were cooked and sat 10+ minutes before she served them) no refills on coffee, and water was refilled ( at our request when the food arrived) when we had finished eating. We will drive to eat elsewhere in the future when we stay here. Overall very poor service. read more
