Just visited for dinner this evening. Food pretty good, service staff very nice BUT, one very annoying practice they've implemented. They pack all patrons into one area right next to each other creating a mess hall feeling. We had heard great things about this restaurant, sadly it was not our experience. We were one of two tables of two in the entire restaurant. It took a long time for our sandwiches to arrive and they were cold. We told the waitress and she flippantly told us she would tell the cook. ( we suspect they were cooked and sat 10+ minutes before she served them) no refills on coffee, and water was refilled ( at our request when the food arrived) when we had finished eating. We will drive to eat elsewhere in the future when we stay here. Overall very poor service. read more

Ate lunch here while visiting Oregon Gardens. This restaurant is housed within the Oregon Garden Lodge. Service was very slow to take order and slow to deliver order. Plan to spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours, if you will eat here. Ordered chicken salad and burger w/fries that was okay. I think lodging guests or Oregon Garden visitors eat here due to the convenience and to avoid having to drive the short way to Silverton. Gate from garden to restaurant allowed easy entry. Entry from restaurant to garden required key card to re-enter garden. Get key card from lodging registration desk by showing your paid garden receipt. read more

The food is overpriced. The recommended special was a curry pasta dish. The pasta was over done which is a big fail for me. The curry didn't have a lot of flavor and the overall dish was flat. There was more than eight of us in the group so each couple was charged an additional $12.50 as a group surcharge. We left a very modest tip but even with that for the two of us it was $86. Two stars for the friendly staff. However, we've had two bad experiences at this restaurant, specifically for dinners. The dishes described on the menu sound great, however the reality has been extremely disappointing. On a previous visit my husband ordered a stuffed portobello mushroom. The only item used for the stuffing was zucchini. There was no goat cheese, spinach, etc., that was described in the menu. We sent it back. For my visit this week I ordered the zoodles with pesto. It was awful. I don't know what the green liquid that was used to dress the zoodles was, but it wasn't pesto. It was so watery they even served it with a soup spoon. Pesto is fresh basil, ground nuts, parmesan, garlic and oil. The green liquid seemed to be missing a few of those ingredients. read more

They saved themselves by having good food for real because this review would have went much differently had that not been the case. I was going to the gardens with a group for the lights festival and we decided to get a late lunch at the cafe to make everything easier - there are not a lot of dining options in this area. I went to Open Table and made the reservation for the restaurant for 230pm. I get a call while we are driving to Salem to pick up the rest of our family and are not even an hour from our reservation time - the restaurant is calling to tell me that they close down at 2pm and can seat us in the lounge instead and that we will at least be able to have the full menu (since their lounge in happy hour menu only). Ummm, ok - fine - not like we have a choice to find someplace else since you call us with less than an hour to go while we are on the road...and I made the reservation a week in advance... So we get there and sit in the lounge to be told by the excessively rude and abrupt bartender that we do not have a full menu. He finally started being nicer to us half way through the ordering process which made things a bit better. And the food was actually quite good. The restrooms at the resort are MOST unfortunate though. You have A LOT of people using the restroom so there is a line. The women's bathroom smelled HORRIBLE...unclean horrible. The men's bathroom has the urinals right by the door so as the door opens and closes (which it does a lot) the men are exposed to the lobby and people walking by...classy.... read more

Had lunch here last week before visiting the garden. A little puzzled about the outdoor seating situation. There really aren't views of the garden or the area right now due to the odd plastic enclosure they've created. Food was good and service was very good. read more

We ate breakfast here for three mornings because we were staying at the Oregon Garden Hotel ( I just can't get myself to call it Resort since the place has no amenities whatsoever). After the first morning's breakfast, my husband and I dreaded returning to breakfast, but we did since it was included, and finding another place would have meant a drive into Silverton. Every morning's breakfast was virtually the same: dry, cardboard-tasting powdered scrambled eggs, inedible sausage, unripe fruit, sugar-encrusted cake squares, and plain yogurt with preserves to add. There was also juice( sometimes bitter with age) and toast. The only good thing was the coffee. The staff clearly were unhappy, moping around, and had to be reminded by several guests to please refill the missing items. Negative reviews of the breakfasts have been on Tripadvisor for years and still the management persists in providing this poor excuse for a breakfast! read more

It was curious that when I booked lodging at the resort, they said I would need reservations for dinner, and pondered for a bit before saying yes, they could accommodate us at 7 PM. When we got there at 7:00, the dining room was only 1/3 full. I suspect their push for reservations is about staffing and purchasing rather than capacity. The menu is not overly ambitious. My wife had the chicken picatta, which looked and tasted fine. I had a NY strip steak which was properly cooked to order, but a little cool over all; perhaps they use sous vide. The taste of the steak was OK, not great. We never saw a list of beverages, alcoholic or nonalcoholic. Our sever was attentive. Bottom line: our dinner was good, not objectionable or great. read more

We had a nice dinner here. Our two entrees and a bottle of house wine were included in their hotel dinner package. Dinner was good: one of us had Pork Osso Bucco and the other had Scallops. Each dish arrived warm; presentation was appealing (see photos). Everything tasted very good. The inclusive house wine was unremarkable. . . just okay. The service was friendly and attentive. Restaurant design is a linear row of booths along a wall of windows, which has more of a diner or cafe feel, compared to an intimate or cozy restaurant. Great place for a girls weekend! Food was good, little spendy, service was great with us 4 girls. The overall weekend is a four star, restaurant is three, I only say that because food wasn't amazing, just good. The overall experience is what will bring you here. This place is overpriced. I have worked in restaurants and I have made everything on their menu for under 8 dollars. I mean decent customer service for the most part but they told us we could all sit together because of no reservation which was true but also, they had man many many booths wide open and cleaned up with no one in them haha . I refused to order here because of the prices hey are taking advantage of people who are here and cold and want some food. But how would I know I didn't even order food . The service at this restaurant was extremely poor. The waiter was surly, spoke too quickly to be understood, served us tepid coffee, and failed to ask how I wanted my hamburger cooked. I told him anyway (medium rare) but the hamburger arrived well done, so he must not have communicated with the kitchen. My two guests enjoyed their sandwiches (BLT with avocado). Umm 4 staff members for 8 tables and yet the service was pathetic. I decided to skip food and just order wine as the service for other tables was not looking good. It took 20 minutes to get the wine menu. They were out of wine that I ordered. It took them another 10 mins to tell me that. At this point, I decided to skip wine as well. My husband was hungry so he ordered Cobb salad thinking that would be a safe bet. Salad arrived without dressing. Another few mins to get that. Unfortunately the restaurant is pretty bad despite the beautiful views. service is up and down and unfortunately nobody has a lot of knowledge about the ingredients or basics about the menu items (if you are serving a pork porterhouse you should probably know what cut from the pig it comes from for example). We were staying at the hotel so had the dining package and the dinner was so lackluster that we only returned the next day for dessert... But then unfortunately the chocolate ganache hazelnut cake was disgusting...it was mealy and cakey and definitely not ganache. The cocktails were watered down and the meet on the burger was so well-done my husband could barely eat it (unfortunately they don't ask you how you want your burger but I guess that's not surprising considering the weight or didn't know anything about the pork entree either). At the breakfast buffet at the staff does not even put napkins at the table and don't label the eight or nine kinds of muffins, plus you have to toast your own bread and get your own silverware, matched with lukewarm eggs. I would have much rather had the option to have a real breakfast that I paid for then this Motel 6 continental breakfast. And to top it off they don't even acknowledge you except to ask if they can get your plate off your table as soon as you put down your fork. they could really make this into a great place especially with the beautiful view and the outdoor dining options, so it was surprising to have this bad of an experience at the restaurant especially considering the resort is known for its environmental efforts and sustainability... How about some beautiful locally-made items and ingredients, and investing in a good chef? read more

We dined here on Saturday, 12/22/18. They open for dinner at 5pm. Our reservations were for 5:30pm but we didn't arrive to the restaurant till nearly 6pm due to the traffic back up and parking for the holiday lights, which we had to pay to park for the restaurant! Then we had to walk a ¼ mile in the rain to reach the spot to be picked up by a shuttle bus to take us the rest of the way. We were not impressed by anything in this restaurant except our server. She was extremely friendly. After our appetizer, our server told us the kitchen was backed up and the food wouldn't be out for an hour. Because of the long wait for our food, our server offered us soup or salad to tide us over, which was nice. She kept checking in to assure us our food was coming. We joked that we had filled up on bread and salad and didn't have room to eat anything. She said we were not the first table to cancel their food order due to the wait. We said we were only kidding and would wait. In hindsight, we should have cancelled it. The food was mediocre, once it arrived. This is not a place we will ever return. I feel badly for any server trying to make a living in such a disorganized restaurant that serves below average food. read more

The food itself was pretty good, but not for the price you pay, and the service was horrible. There were only three other small groups of people, and the restaurant had about four servers. They never refilled my water glass even after asking. It took them until our food was finished before they brought our drinks out. They made the worst gin and tonic my husband has ever tasted and the worst lemon drop I had ever had. After we were finished eating nobody ever came back to the table to give us our check. At this point we were the only people in the restaurant still with four servers. One of the workers cleaning tables walked past us and didnt get our plates when we were done eating. We waited 15 minutes until going to the front. Nobody was there. They finally gave us our check. Later that night we both got sick. Our guts hurt from the food and drinks. It ruined our night since this was the first day of our honeymoon. read more

We had reservations for 7:00 pm and the place was slow so we had a lot of space to ourselves for a Saturday night. Excellent service and local choices. Soup was only warm not hot and way too much mozzarella on it; had to ask twice for salad dressing for the side salad. Ordered the Spicy Black Bean Burger, what a mess. Too much mozzarella, just smashed black beans with some spices (needs more). Ended up eating a lot with a fork. Cost is a bit high for the quality, or lack there of, of the food.
