This place exceeded my expectations. It was the cheapest place we could find in Vail that also had a good variety of food for our family of 5 so I wasn't expecting much. The food was very good. I got a burger and it was a fresh patty, not frozen, done just right and very juicy. My picky daughter got the wings and said they were awesome. There were lots of good options on the menu. Not the friendliest establishment. Sat myself at the bar looking at the menu while I waited for friends. Was not greeted by anyone. Bartender circled round and round and not once asked me if I'd like anything. Decided to set up my stopwatch just to see how long it would take. 7 mins 35 seconds before a staff member asked me anything and it wasn't even to ask what I would like. He just asked, "How's it going?" The only reason he approached me to begin with was because he was making a Bloody Mary and the mix was in front of me. A group of people then walked up to the bar and were immediately greeted and served. I saw that and decided to leave. Ask your bartender with the red shirt and black cap. He made eye contact with me multiple times and didn't want to serve me. Now I'm not saying skin color had anything to do with it but the staff sure made me feel that way. read more

Nice place, we came in June and ate outside. The place next door had music that was loud enough to hear over at Garfinkel's. My husband and I shared the Rocket and Fig salad and the Garf's House Pasta which was the perfect amount for the two of us and the flavor of both was outstanding!! Decided to take a stroll around vail and came across this place for a quick bite. Place looked really busy but they were quick we didn't have to wait and got a table fast. The wings are amazing!!! If you like wings you have to try these 10/10. The drinks we good too the only one I wouldn't recommend is the hot red wine, just didn't do it for me. The whisky hot chocolate was definitely my favorite. And for all my skiers and snowboarders you'll love this place especially since it's right off the ramp. Great place to watch the Nuggets. Plenty of TVs through the bar and dining area. We had the edamame and the vegan bolognese, which we took to-go. The bolognese was excellent. The sauce to pasta ratio was perfect and there was a variety of vegetables with each bite. Even though we ordered to go and waited about 20 minutes to eat it, the pasta was not chewy. The "meat" was a crumbled impossible burger and did not make the dish too salty. Will definitely return. read more

Nice sports bar with reasonable prices and a large area for outdoor seating. A little disappointed that most of the craft beer is from a can and not offered as a draft. My fish and chips were very good, but no vinegar was offered with them. My wife's chicken sandwich had good flavor, but was very dry. Our waitress, I cannot remember her name, was amazing. She apologized, was considerate and discounted our bill to make up for the, poor food preparation. Honestly, for a sports bar in this area, the prices are very reasonable and the food was great. Our bartender was very friendly and took great care of us. The patio has a great view as well but we opted for the Monday night football game and sat at the bar instead. We started with Edamame and the each ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl. For being in Colorado at a sports bar, the poke was very respectable. It tasted very fresh and everything was presented well. Large menu, large drink list, and friendly staff. Interesting establishment. I'm having difficulties discerning price and value of food. Obviously, everything in vail is going to be expensive. But at some restaurants, the price is just flat out a scam! I ordered the burger (one of the cheaper options) and my total was in the mid 20s. For the quality of the burger, this price did not feel right. I did, however, enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. Also, our waiter was friendly and attentive. The Mountain Views are no joke, too. A classic apres spot right off the Eagle Bahn Gondola on Lionshead Village. A shot and a beer kind of dive bar with a decent food menu. I ended up ordering the vegan bolognese after seeing it brought out for someone else. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the dish was. Not bathed in sauce and the veggies were fresh. I really enjoyed it. The place was slammed from 3-5pm with all the folks coming off the slopes. Service was slow because of that but is understandable given the number of people looking for a drink. This is a noisy place next the slopes and Lionshead lifts so it gets a crowd. Our server was so good. The prices are good for the area. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. We started with 3 and somehow a few family and friends showed up and we were able to seat them. Our server stopped by and immediately took drink orders and was so good at refills even though he had a lot of tables nearby. Ended up with a variety of food. I shared some chicken quesadillas and the edamame. Surprised how tasty the edamame was with a pacific rim type flavor. This is a solid choice for a bar and grill with 4 star food and 5 star atmosphere. Sit on the patio if the weather is nice. Start with some soft pretzels... they were awesome. I had the Southwest grilled chicken salad, which was pretty standard... good with everything you'd want, but nothing that will blow your socks off. We also had buffalo chicken sandwiches, which didn't quite have enough sauce on them, according to my family, but again, a solid standard sandwich. We had one kids pasta marinara which actually came out as just a plate of plain pasta... the marinara came afterwards when the food runner realized it was missing. But the kid meals are fun because they get a couple sides and a cookie, enough food for my hungry 11 year old. The service was great, efficient and done with a smile. We'll go back! read more

Wandering Lionshead looking for a good, juicy burger, a kind stranger was helpful and so sweet to lead us to Garfinkel's. With a couple of options close by, he said their fries were delicious, so we took his advice. Thank you kind stranger, this was the best decision we could have made for dinner. If you're in Vail, you know to expect to pay at LEAST $20 for every meal - and that's a conservative estimate. Garfinkel's is a more casual sports bar and prices were actually fairly reasonable. I ordered a Bison burger with swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms and sauteed onions - cooked medium, this burger was seriously one of the best ones I've ever had. Quite possibly the best bison burger I've tried. So juicy, perfectly pink inside. Not seasoned too much where I couldn't taste the lean meat inside. SO EFFING GOOD. I got a side of sweet potato fries and man, I was a happy girl. The rest of my party got in on another Bison burger, a Garf burger (regular beft), a Prime Rib French Dip, and Fish and Chips - all of them huge hits. Even my Mom who loves Fish and Chips, but usually takes the batter off, loved this one. A perfect crisp, thin batter covering fresh cod. Just delicious. I was hesitant on stopping in here due to some of the less than favorable reviews on Yelp, but I'm so glad we did. This is now a must for me anytime we're in Vail. Bison or bust! read more

This is a very solid less-expensive (for Vail) spot for good bar-style food. Lots of seating, friendly service, and a quick kitchen make for a pleasant spot to scarf down some warm food after a day on the slopes. We were there on a bitterly cold day, but on a warmer one it would be great to face the mountain while eating! Husband got the prime rib french dip, which he loved. I thought it was weird that he decided to get the mashed potatoes as a side, but they were so good and had great gravy! I got the southwestern salad with grilled chicken, which admittedly was more topping than greens, but was still good and hearty. It's not going to blow your mind, but the price point to quality ratio was higher than a lot of places in Vail, and it was nice to eat somewhere casual that wasn't a dive. We visited in early-mid November. The place has a large deck which is recognized for apres ski. It is in the sun and you have a nice view of the gondolas and the mountains. We just stoped for a drink and a snack. We ordered the bison chili-it was very good. It's a good place to sit inside and watch sports. It was a Saturday, so they had college games on. They have many tvs located around the bar area allowing you to sit almost anywhere and see a tv. I recommend stopping in , even if it is just for a snack and a drink. The food looked and smelled good but we only had the chili. Our server was friendly and helpful. read more

Most bars in Vail are very high priced. We all ordered a few ice cold beers and started off with the mozzarella sticks. It came with more than we expected. Between the three of us we got atlas 3 or 4 sticks each. For dinner, my friend and I decided to each order a meal and split it. Best of both worlds by getting to try two different things at once! We ordered the Prime Rib French Dip and the Reuben. Both were absolutely amazing. Both sandwiches had so much flavor. I would hands down order them again! While in Vail, I got food to-go from Garfinkel's. As I got it to-go, I can't really provide my perspective on the experience within the restaurant. It looked like the feel of any bar/restaurant and certainly appeals to the hungry/thirsty skier. There's a photo of a young Shaq on their wall wearing a Garfinkel's T-shirt. It's nice to know Shaq was dropping some Orlando Magic money in Vail back in the mid-90s. I ordered the quesadilla and an impossible burger. Both were sufficient. It was an extremely standard quesadilla but I guess that's to be expected out of what is bar food and a quesadilla. The impossible burger again was fine, nothing out of this world, and I'm just satisfied it's available. Given Garfinkel's is located in this outdoor shopping plaza/mall area of Vail, I was concerned about finding parking. Luckily the nearby garage facilitates such situations with spots for 15-minute and 30-minute parking for free. Garfinkel's ultimately fulfills your hunger needs and, given the circumstances I was in, it was close by and did the job. read more

Great location, the rest...meh. Ingredients matter, don't you think? The food we got (salads and burgers, party of 4) looked and tasted like something that friend of yours plops on a plate when they forgot they invited you over for dinner so they rush out to CostCo to get a bunch of stuff they could serve in seconds: an afterthought. The food came late, 2 diners served 10 minutes before the other 2, and a chicken salad was served sans chicken. The most bizarre was their "lemon" basil salad dressing that tasted like someone had the bright idea to use LEMONADE in the recipe. Pretty gross, fake-o tasting. Megan, our wait staff, was fantastic and apologetic, but there was little she could do to compensate for what was a super lacking and frustrating experience. Clearly this restaurant cares about volume and price margins a lot more than quality food and dining. That said, if you don't care about food and you're looking for a great outdoor atmosphere looking up at the tree-filled mountains (and snow at the right time of year), this place could be a nice place to have a few beers -- if you have time to wait to be served. read more

The service was good, really lickety-split - but the prime rib left much to be desired, as did the sweet potato fries (not worth the extra $3) and the vegetables. I did see a few meals at other tables that looked much more appealing then mine did, but I'm not likely to rush back and try something else. Garf's - as the locals call it - has been around since the early '90s and is very popular for those looking for a casual, affordable lunch. It's within eye shot of the Born Free chair lift and Eagle Bahn gondola (also the base of the mountain) so it's a convenient spot to meet up with friends for apre ski drinks. The menu consists of everything from burgers and sandwiches to pastas and meatloaf. I wasn't a fan of the dry chicken sandwich I ordered, but my gal pal devoured her grilled cheese sandwich, sweet potato fries and chocolate lava cake. (Baby girl was hungry!) Perhaps skip out on the semi healthy food and go straight for the artery cloggers. You've earned it, after all. The portions are rather large - check out their mountainous nacho appetizer that can easily feed 3-6 people - but everyone seems to be famished after the slopes. But still, order wisely. I gotta give it to the kitchen and servers; the food comes out extremely fast. Like, warp speed. As do the drinks. The Irish Coffee was "meh" - but super strong - as it should be for $10. But our group seemed to be bigger fans of the hot chocolate. Service is great, the patio/deck offers plenty of seating, and it's easy to get in and out of there in. And they do have a gluten-free menu and GF bread, for those with dietary restrictions. read more
