Quick convenient ready to serve Greek/Mediterranean. Love their plates...Pick a protein, rice, salad, and sauce (they are often nice and will let you do half half). Then sit down and enjoy all the garlicky lemony goodness. Their garlic sauce is hella fatty but oh so creamy and garlicky. Prob mostly mayo. They do have hummus and tzaziki, more healthier and equally delicious. Their spicy chicken and spicy beef schwarma is legit fire engine red colored. It doesn't seem to be a natural color and seems unnecessary. I'd just get the non-fire truck red colored meat and douse it with their yummy spicy sauce instead. This place was a miss for me. We ordered two shawarmas, beef and spicy beef and then two lunch boxes, chicken and spicy beef. The spicy beef was very seasoned, and I'm not complaining. What isn't so good is the quality of beef, it was very mushy. More like a burger, but with more grizzle. The beef shawarma was downright gross. The quality of meat here is also to blame. It looked like steak, but was so mushy. It was also unpleasantly sour - I thought that the meat has gone bad, but my friend told me that they marinate it in a vinegar. Either way, it wasn't pleasant and it seemed to have a lot of parts to a cow I'm not familiar with. It was just too mushy: my friend joked cow tongue. The chicken was super dry and lacking flavor. It is a good thing we had asked for spicy and tahini sauce or it would have been hard to eat. I am raving about the rice; not too greasy, but borderline, and a right amount of salt. The fattoush salad was also pretty good. All in all, it was an okay place to eat at if you picked the right things. I would likely not come back, but maybe after the renovations. read more

When my friend came up from out of town, she was craving Mediterranean food so I suggested we stop by this restaurant. I have been here a couple of times in the past, I really love the side salads you can get with the platter and the magic sauce is just sooo good. The meat is great, the only thing I do wish is that they had a smaller patter option because this is a lot of food and the prices have increased a bit since they opened a couple of years ago. I LOVE this place! I come here for lunch maybe once a month when I'm in the area and almost always get the spicy chicken shawarma pita; it's so delicious and a good portion size for $8. It's not spicy at all, by the way. It comes with really yummy creamy garlic sauce. They toast quickly but it's pretty much always ready within 5 minutes of when you order. This is truly one of my favorite places to eat in all of Boston. The spicy chicken shawarma plate is amazing. Falafels are always good. Grape leaves are great. Spicy potatoes are a must. Garlic sauce is a 10. Spicy garlic sauce is an 11. I've lived in Boston for almost 9 years and have gone here almost every Wednesday since I discovered this place. Really freaking good. From someone who would go all the way to providence for a good middle eastern wrap, I was more than delighted to stumble upon this establishment last night. Not only is the meat really tasty (sampled both the beef and the spicy chicken), the haj bread is crispy and delicious. It doesn't hurt that I love dipping sauces and this place has a remarkable variety and is very generous with them. I loved the sharp garlic sauce and the spicy sauce. Literally the best hummus in Boston! I first went went here in the midst of a really strict no-carb diet and was able to find quality meat, flavorful salads of every type (greek salad, tabouleh, fatoush, cauliflower etc) and well under budget in the form of a spicy chicken shawarma plate. Added bonus - availability of mint yoghurt drink to wash it all down. The diet didn't last for too long but my love for this place has. Man am I glad I decided to give this place a try because it quickly became one of the gems in Allston for me. Adore this joint! I remember what it looked like before their renovations and how the creepy man painted on the window turned me off. It's been a few years since the renovations have been completed, but that creepy painting has permanently scarred me. Regardless, the spicy beef shwarma plate is my favorite hands down. It's not spicy at all. Instead, it has great sweet and a little sour flavor that complements the potatoes really well. The garlic sauce is incredible with the pita. I feel my entire diet is going to waste eating here, but it is worth it. The portions are humongous for $13. Thus, one plate is good enough for two meals! Service is always friendly and welcoming. I guess you could order the vegetarian plate and get fallafel on it, but why is there no specific plate for it? I got the special of a beef dish with carrots and peas. I got exactly 3 chunks of beef. I have been coming here for the last 5 years. I loved this place. Every week you would see me here bringing all my friends. As a Middle Eastern, I can attest that this was the place to go to for great Shawarma. And everyone I would bring loved it too. However, in the past year many have changed (in worse). The food is no longer as fresh. The chicken is usually pre-cut, dried up, and stored waiting to get served. That's not how shawarma should be served. It needs to be freshly cut and juicy. The kebab plates are very bad too. A friend who came got some chicken kebab (shish taouk) and it tasted like grilled plastic. No spices, no taste, just tasted like frozen grilled chicken that has been frozen and unfrozen a few times. The personnel here has gotten gradually worse. It was never good, but went from bad to very bad. Literally, they act like they give out food from their own pockets. They repeatedly started putting less and less in the portions every time I visited. A shawarma plate used to be so filled ip it was impossible to finish. With a lot of meat, and all the good stuff. In the past year, this portion decreased more and more every time I came. Now, they barely give any meat in that plate. Not to mention prices went up too. At least if you were giving the same amount of food for that price. In addition, they are very unfriendly and rude. They speak amongst each other in Spanish (all Venezuelan nationalities) and they make fun of some of the customers and their orders (myself included) as well as give you some bad stare downs. It is very unethical, and rude. In this setting, the employees must show some welcoming attitude and be nice to customers as a customer-facing job. I must say I will never be returning here again and I will just go to Aceituna from now on when I want a good shawarma. I am very disappointed in Garlic n Lemons and I believe the owner should do some revamping, which includes to remove the whole personnel and not hire people who end up making a clan out of their coworkers against customers who come. read more

He grew up all over the world and spent some time in Saudi where shawarma is as common as a burger in the USA. Sofa king good. Also, Mexican Coke in bottles. I'd get this next time, tons of meat and rice with a side of greek salad and hummus. There falafel tasted pretty legit also. The spicey isnt too spicey there so dont worry if your sensitive to heat. My fiancee and I just moved out here to Somerville, MA a few months ago. On our way back from church on one fateful sunday morning, I saw this restaurant next to a Kungfu tea. I wont lie, it was the Kungfu Tea and all the hip furniture stores in the area that really caught my attention. When we got out of the car (there is free parking in the back!!!!...DOUBLE AWESOME), I noticed this restaurant next door. Now coming from Queens, NY, my fiancee and I had been to several really legit mid-east eateries in Astoria. We decided to give this place a go. All I can say is wooooow!!!! We tried the chicken and the spicy beef roll-ups. They were both incredibly tender, and the meat was plentiful. The best part (where they trump NY spots) is the price. Super duper cheap. We also tried some of the pastries (baklava and some type of a custard, not sure the name). They were just oK. I have certainly had much better. They were kinda stale actually. I ordered at the counter: the mix plate with spicy chicken shawerma and spicy beef one as well. Garlic dip, potatoes and tabouleh on the plate as well For sides we added grape leaves, spinach and cheese rolls, beef kibbeh, and beef sambouzek. All the food had good flavors, and I liked mixing different ones together. The shawerma meats were only warm, but I would have preferred a hotter temp on them. This place is like the Chipolte of Shwarma. I ordered the Spicy Schwarma Platter to take back to the office on a late work evening and it, hit, the, spot. They serve their food deli style with all of the menu items, toppings, and sides in a massive Chipolte style spread. The chicken was fresh off the rotating grill thing (they had a separate one for the regular chicken and spicy chicken). The platter came with a side of fresh hummus which was great, Fatoush salad, rice, and of course the standard Pita. The chicken wasn't as seasoned or spicy to warrant the name "Spicy Chicken", the normal chicken NYC street Halal or West coast Schwarma is much more seasoned and spicy. But by no means was the chicken bland, as a matter of fact it was very moist and flavorful, which I didn't expect. They even made up for the lack of seasoning by not charging for extra toppings (I had pickles, peppers, and onions), and the spice was covered by their Spicy Garlic Sauce.
