I love popcorn and this was super disappointing. Two girls working there were not friendly. The caramel popcorn tasted burnt and the cheese popcorn is super greasy leaving grease on your fingers. I wouldn't recommend it, Go to Costco and get the Chicago mix from there. :/ read more

My family and I stopped in to buy popcorn for our Saturday night movie night on Michigan Ave. I cheated and snuck a taste of my cheese popcorn before every one did. My bag was very salty. My boyfriend had cheese and caramel ,and my daughter had cheese and bacon flavored and caramel with pecan nuts. Everyone agreed with me that the cheese was indeed salty. I have high blood pressure and I could not finish my bag. I don't understand. I eat Garret's popcorn all the time .However I tried a different store to purchase this batch. When ordering to have 2 day delivery, I recommend you do it via phone and on the day it is to be made and shipped. I just spoke with their rep and if you order it the day it is made, it will be delivered in 2 days - very fresh. I ordered mine in advance and it will be delivered almost 5 days from when it was made - even though I paid 2 day delivery as they made it 2 days prior to it being shipped. I say the same thing whenever I go to any Garrett's Popcorn shop. I LOVE IT HERE! Although the "Garrett Mix" will forever be the Chicago Mix to me, the taste remains the same, DELICIOUS! Being the greedy person that I am, I could not decide whether or not I wanted one jumbo bag, a large and a medium bag, or just two medium bags. So to be on the healthy side (HA) I chose to medium bags ( one to eat while I was in Chicago and one to take back with me) LOL It worked out pretty well too as I just finished the second bag last Friday afternoon (sad, sad day) But seriously, I love Garrett's Popcorn and I try to get a bag (or two) whenever I am in a town that has one. I've had Garrett's as a corporate holiday gift and it was way better than the popcorn we got today at the Garrett's store on Michigan Ave. close to the river. First of all, the person checking us out was pretty surly, which contrasts greatly with the friendly people we've dealt with everywhere else in the city. Then, somehow we got the wrong popcorn. Instead of caramel we got butter. Not a huge deal, right? Wrong. The "butter" popcorn is not worth the money. The Garrett mix was good, a little greasy, but good, but don't waste your money on the butter flavor. read more

I came there around 1-1:02 for your 69 cent anniversary special. There was a long line and I waited 15 minutes. I asked for the Garett mix special, that everyone in front of me got, and one of the workers packaged it for me. I got to the register and the cashier said it was full price, I asked about the 69 cent special and the manager (Alyssa Greyer) that was standing nearby said it ended at 1. I told her I came here at 1 and she said she "I already announced the last person, you must have not heard", I told her I came here at 1 and that she should honor the special. She just ignored me and went on to the next customer. Disgusting behavior from a manager. Coming from someone who worked customer service before, she should have honored the special instead of refusing to because there was a long line and I wasn't at the counter exactly at 1 pm. Buyer beware. Whenever in Chicago we always bought popcorn to bring home. This time we bought it on Thursday evening and got home Friday late afternoon. The popcorn was stale. I wrote to Garrett and they said the popcorn was only good in the bag for a few hours. Ridiculous as this never happened before. It was stale when it was put in the bag! And they wouldn't refund because we didn't have the receipt. Who keeps a receipt for popcorn you are planning to eat right away! My two stars are for the poor customer service at this location in particular. While visiting Chicago last week, my parents, my husband and I stopped by to grab a jumbo bag of the Chicago mix. I don't know if the two girls behind the counter were just having a bad day, or if they didn't want to be asked any questions. All I know is that they both gave my 70-year old mother MAJOR ATTITUDE when she asked them is if the popcorn was hot. They explained that the popcorn only stays hot for five minutes after it's popped, so by the time they put the flavors and seasoning on it, it has already cooled down. Understood. It wasn't WHAT they said, it was HOW they said it. So condescending and rude. When we walked out of the store, we were all wondering why they were so agitated that she asked a simple question. I don't remember which one of these I went to but I am assuming they are all the same. The cheesy popcorn was really good. I did not particularly enjoy the pecan or the smokey cheese flavors (so nice of them to let me sample the different flavors).
