Fannie May has a variety of chocolates to choose from! There are also other treats to purchase, such as ice cream, as well as packaged goods to take home. I selected a couple chocolates to be weighed: a milk chocolate peanut cluster and one Dixie, which is a caramel and pecan treat. I really enjoyed both!

I always stop for chocolates! [Chicago CA] That huge sign at the shop was calling my name... in fact, it has my name on it. Before heading to the parking garage we made a quick stop at the shop. Whenever we come across a confectionery store I always make it a point to grab a bag of my favorite milk chocolate peanut clusters. Inside is immaculate in red and white theme. The shelves were neatly stocked with merchandise -- gift towers, mix & match candy bars and custom assortments. I proceeded to make my way towards the back... I've never heard of Fannie May chocolates before but I'm sure they would have my chocolate peanut clusters. Found it immediately in the display case.... so yummy!! Friendly customer service! Unfortunately it never made it to our next destination to our boat tour, we ate all 12-pcs (mostly me)... and distance was only less than 2-miles (7 min-drive) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Would make a great present for any chocolate lover. The free Christmas trolly is so festive and a must do. Four free holiday chocolates in an hour. Would love more historic facts about The candy tho.

To be honest, I've never ever heard of Fannie Mae fine chocolate but once I saw it on Michigan Avenue, of course I had to go inside. It is located right beside the riverwalk entrance and on Michigan at DuSable Bridge. The staff were there if I needed them and did not intrude at all when I was browsing. However, they did come over to me with samples, which of course I could not refuse. The chocolate is delicious & decadent. Dangerously good. I tried to contain myself, but ended up buying some gifts to take back home and a little something something from myself.!!! It's very cute in here. Do not miss!! Great idea for gifts.

Went into this chocolate store because it was right next to the hotel I am staying. Surprised by how rich and unique their chocolates are. They would make a great gift.

One of the oldest and best tasting chocolates in Chicago. I strongly suggest you visit when in the ciry.

Great chocolate shop, with a amazing assortment of goodies to choose from. Also has a ice cream station. You can't go wrong coming here. Only problem is, your going to want to buy everything.

I had the BEST experience at this location! I got a hot chocolate and an assortment of chocolate.

I had the BEST experience at this location! All of the employees were incredibly kind and helpful. I just wanted to stay in there haha! This was the first time I have tried Fannie May and I would certainly come again when I am in the area. I bought a hot chocolate and an assortment of chocolate.

Had to try the chocolate brownie and chocolate chip cookie. Great sizes for the price. The brownie was sweet and chunky in a good way. The cookie was delicious and not too hard but not too soft, just the way I like a chocolate chip cookie. They offered samples when we walked in, which I appreciated. Cute store at a good and busy location.

They get one star for admittedly good chocolate, but lost all the other ones because their customer service totally sucks. I walked in about 6pm on Mother's Day because I was staying in a nearby hotel and wanted a little something for dessert. I walked over the counter for a few individual pieces, and this is the conversation I overheard. Employee 1: why are we open til 8pm tonight? We should close at 6. We should be closing now. Employee 2: We're open til 8. Employee 1: we should close at 6. We should close now. I don't want to be here anymore. I can't wait to get off. Employee 2: Well... Employee 1: plus, you can leave at 8. I have to clean up and lock up and it's gonna take me forever to get out of here. Ugh. So there I am, thinking "should I just walk out now? This woman obviously doesn't want to help me and maybe I shouldn't waste my money here." But I did want a piece of chocolate, and I was already there, so I figured I'd get something. Omg, the attitude. She was impatient and obnoxious because I took more than a few seconds to order (after standing there waiting for her to finish her conversation with Employee 2). It was not cool. As I was walking out, I saw the sign (see photo) about how their customers are their reason why they're in business. Really? Well, management may want to retrain their employees to understand that.

I think it used to be called Tomoe Ame, but it's the same as ever, though it used to come with a tiny plastic or even metal toy, and now it comes with a toy tattoo. The candy is a lightly-flavored set-jelly candy, much like a Turkish Delight, and the inner wrapper right next to the candy is rice-paper that melts in your mouth! I think we used to shop down Wentworth south of Cermak, and there are still authentic restaurants and all kinds of shops there. Nowadays we mostly head to the Chinatown Square open-air mall. This time we stopped in the Ichiban Candy & Snacks store. They have so many kinds of sweets, and yes, Botan Ame! They sell a trendy new ice cream bar, Dubai Pistachio Chocolate Flavor! Inside a fairly thick chocolate shell, the filling is like skinny long bright green sprinkles! It's fun and unusual. Even better, while we were there (Nov 2025), if you bought over $35 of candy, (we did :-), the friendly staff gave out a free ice cream bar as a sample! We all got to taste it. Pretty good! They have good old White Rabbit candy, like a white taffy roll. They have unusual "Chinese flavors" of Lay's Potato Chips we got Cucumber, Lime, Peking Duck, Five Spice, and Wasabi. They also have cans of formed potato chips like pringles. Other than the spicy flavors and the wasabi, none really have the flavor in the name, but they are all interesting, and every one we tried went well with beer :-). You can never go wrong with various flavors of Kit Kat. We like the original Pocky sticks and the chocolate-filled Hello Panda cookies. And there is a vast assortment of by-the-pound hard candies and chewy candies. We stop in now and then just to refill our candy dishes :-)
