I don't usually give a 4 star review for service if the problem is not resolved, but I have to say, these people did a great job on my oil change and alignment, and the only thing that was still needed was turning off the dashboard message that I needed maintenance. I returned today to get that code adjusted, and Trisden was so intent on solving my problem, and tried so many avenues to do so, that it wasn't really his fault that the instructions just did not work. I guess it's a secret only Volvo dealers know. :) In any case, this dealership and its service department are above average and really deserve a chance. And, as you can see--they service more than Kia's. Thanks Kristen for great service, and Thanks Trisden for trying so hard to get the job finished. On April 6th, within a week of purchasing a certified vehicle from Gary Rome Kia for over 16,800 dollars, the vehicle stalled in Rhode Island and would not start. When my son went to have it towed to a local Kia dealership using the Tow Assistance package that came with the car, however, they would not tow it because they did not have the vehicle on file because GARY ROME KIA did not submit the paperwork upon purchase. Three days later, with no resolution for the tow, my son eventually used AAA to have it towed the local Kia dealership. (Money out of Pocket). The diagnostics at the other dealership lasted over through the next weekend, taking another week. Now my son has had to have a rental car for over 10 days!!! Keep in mind that the Tow Package only covers 35 dollars a day. When I explained to GARY ROME KIA pre-owned vehicle sales staff that we were going to have to pay money out of pocket for the rental due to the rental costing more than $35, and diagnoses was delayed by at least 6 days because they did not submit the tow package paperwork on time, and that my son lost between 4 and 8 hours of work (more financial burden) when the car died. (Not to mention the stress of dealing with nonsense that should have never occurred when we just bought a vehicle one week prior). They didn't seem to be too concerned that I had just spent over $16,800 dollars at their business and was looking at a minimum of another $400 dollars out of pocket for a problem that should never have occurred. Being more than reasonable, I suggested to GARY ROME KIA sales managers that if they could not cover the out-of-pocket expenses which I know were going to incur, they should at least consider covering oil changes for a year or some other form of compensation for our financial losses and inconvenience. The response from STEVE LIPTAK was not that "THEY CAN'T DO THAT" that, but that they "WON'T DO THAT". I had mentioned to the sales manager Telesha (who has been very pleasant to deal with during this ordeal) to let STEVE know that I had time on my hand and would make my feelings be known with GARY ROME KIA about this whole debacle. I took my car for an oil change and while it was there I got a call saying that they found a mouse nest and that I needed to have some filters changed. In the end I ended up paying over $500 for an oil change and two filters. When we picked up the car my husband asked for an explanation and all we were told by the manager was he doesn't make the prices. Gary Rome Kia service is a rip off. I have posted a picture of the receipt so you can all see the ridiculous prices they charge. I also took the receipt to my garage and they nearly lost it. How can Gary Rome Kia charge those prices and still be able to look their customers in the eye. I will never take my car there again! Think twice before buying a car from Gary Rome because we also had issues with the their finance department. They just want to take your money but are very slow of give money back to you!! After complaining about that I received no help at all. I had to call Kia directly to find out what was going on with the money I was owed and get help. He started the process right before he was set to be on vacation for a week, he took time out of his vacation to check in with us and get the process with the RMV moving. Bought 2 Soul's from them, first one a 2014, no major issues. I did my oil changes elsewhere and didn't need service department. Second Soul, a 2024. Had minor front end damage (hardly noticeable) week or so later front bumper starts coming apart. The bumper only had a few scratches on it, not worth repairing. I examine the problem and see that the bumper is held together by plastic clips!!! Amazing cheap construction, a couple of clips had popped off causing the bumper to fail. Went to dealership to see my salesman, nice guy John. He saw the issue and recommended service take a look at it. Right away their service supervisor starts accusing me of having an accident without even looking at the problem which was shoddy construction. To be fair, only came to see salesman and get his opinion and maybe few more clips to replace, and ended up dealing with incompetent service advisors. I never even requested they look at it. If that was the case, I would have made an appointment with them. I could have replaced the clips myself. Anyway, my salesmen gave me a couple of clips which was all I really wanted and left this nightmare of unprofessionalism. Later called store manager who defended their service department without regard to listening to my issue which was "service". realizing that bad service starts from the top and their reputation for bad reviews is well earned. Decided to go to East Hartford Kia for an actual "service" appointment and it was like night and day. Talked to Eli, who fit me in, advised me of the problem and solved my issue. These guys (east Hartford) are professional and will NEVER go to Gary Rome again. read more

so, everyone I spoke to was really helpful. I would happily do a training at this dealership as I feel they could really excel from it. however, after my Kia was stolen .. took a little over two months to fix ( I know parts are hard to get ) the issue is it's insane that a deductible still needs to be paid for something out of your control and also. I'm pretty upset the car was there for so long and there is still a lot of glass shards through out the car and in the back seat. that's kinda disappointing honestly. after a theft it would make sense for a light detail or cleaning of the class. read more

If only I could give this place 0 stars. Im not one to give bad reviews to places and I give them a second chance take your business elsewhere (perhaps Kia in Wallingford, they are professional and provide exceptional service) Called 2 days ahead to get a quote on repairs, I was told its $125 for diagnosis which would go towards the repairs; if I went ahead and got the repairs. If I didn't, it would just be the technicians fee for diagnosing my car. So I made an appt, got the diagnosis when it came to actually getting repairs done, the employee denied that the $125 would go towards the repairs, and claimed that's just a separate fee for diagnosis. (Such convenient timing to inform me about this, so now I would have to pay for the ~$1000 repairs and the $125 fee) When I insisted that I was told about this over the phone (it is not fair that they go back on their word) all the nearby employees just swarmed in and started denying that claim; moreover, just blamed the person I had talked to on the phone. They are unprofessional; make you feel like you're lying infront of all the customers. So they either don't train their employees and/or don't have fixed policies on such matters thus allowing them to go back on their word at their convenience. Moving on to the service; when I got there I just stood there waiting to be helped while they all just chatted away even after they made eye contact with me. Also, with covid going on you would think they would have some precautions in place? Nope!!! No disinfecting or cleaning seen after customers left. They had no social distancing in place, they just stuffed all the customers in a small waiting room, chairs right next to each other. Also noticed staff with their masks on their chin or dangling on their ear (cause apparently that's how you protect yourself and others). Nitpicking on this, but be prepared to just sit there in the stuffy room cause they will never have your car serviced on time, it will most likely take another 1/2-1hr. read more

I bought my car from Gary Rome Kia in Enfield, CT. They told me they went through the car & cleaned it before I picked it up. Few weeks later, I noticed droppings on my dashboard. Then I noticed a disgusting order. I tried air fresheners, traps, deep cleaned the car myself & STILL the smell would not go away. A week later, my husband found a mice nest in the car in the cabin air filter. With size of the nest, the mouse/mice were there for a while. When I called Gary Rome Kia dealership for help, they said it wouldn't be covered under warranty, I'd have to go through my insurance. I'm POSITIVE the nest was in the car when I bought it. I've been a customer here for 10 years, bought 2 cars, had all my service done here. In summer 2023 they installed a security update which tanked the remote start. Ever since the update the remote starter sets off the alarm. I leave for work at 3am, I can't warm up my car and wake up the neighborhood. I tried bringing it in so they could fix it and they said they won't be fixing it. Kia broke a part of my car and now is not taking any responsibility for it. They told me I would have to pay for the fix myself. Because of their update. What kind of service is that? Still a 5 star rating after over 3 years. Justin Martin is amazing, and will take care of anything and everything. We went from a lease to a pre owned vehicle, and he handled everything from top to bottom and was in touch the entire way. Everything has been incredibly smooth and he is zero BS. The service team is attentive and amazing as well. Trisden was amazing today, and in the past Hector, has also been so awesome. I had to have my windshield replaced, and I'm in MA (I bought a Kia in CT) they didn't replace my inspection sticker. Justin and trisden, made sure it was handled. They sent the glass company to my house to replace the sticker. I'm so very grateful for the smooth experience, and the amazing customer service. I swear I will never go to another dealership, or salesman (Justin) there's no competition. Long story - Plain and simple, go to another KIA dealer! Horrible experience buying a car from here. I was flying in from CA to purchase a car (we were moving back east) and coordinated the entire deal with Anthony via email. We did everything remote, the last part of the deal was to pay the remaining down payment, we even signed the paperwork and was good to go. Fast forward to pick up day, Anthony was disorganized and late to the airport to pick up my wife. Then inside the dealership, Anthony asked my Wife for $500 more than was originally agreed upon, luckily she knew the numbers well and called me to confirm. Got an Oops, sorry from Anthony. After a few hours, my wife is on her way home, not the smoothest pickup, and slightly annoyed by Anthony asking for more money after agreeing upon the price of the car. Once home the car was parked and we thought this was all over... Went back to move the car in the driveway and the car would not start. After a few attempts, switching keys and attempting to jump-start the car I called Anthony at the dealer, in which he claimed the car started fine and I would have to talk to service and he transferred me to service (on a Saturday, so they were closed and I got voice mail...). So I went through Kia roadside and they were helpful in sending out AAA to jump the car. Long story short and a few days of headaches the car was diagnosed with a dead battery. I worked with Ivy in their parts dept to get a new battery installed at the house, she was willing to work with us and got us a new battery without having to come into the dealership again (this is the only reason for the one-star....). Also when I saw the car in person a few days after this ordeal I noticed the car did not come with the floor mats that were depicted on the sticker (annoying, but adds to this mess). Fast forward a month and a half, my temp tags are expired (Meaning I can't drive the car) and I get a call from the Finance manager that they are missing my proof of insurance and "Anthony has been attempting to contact me about that to get my car registered". I call total BS, Anthony never attempted to contact me after the sale and now I have a car that I legally can't drive on the street that I am paying for. When factoring all of these into account I can say this has been the worst car buying experience to date and I will NEVER return to a Gary Rome dealer. read more

This review is based on my 2009 Kia Rio5 that I purchased new at Gary Rome Kia. I did get a good price on the car by researching sale prices on TrueCar and offering 3k cash and exactly what I would pay. The problem was service. I brought the car in for maintainance, replace drive belts, timing belt, ect, to the tune of $1000+. Within 1500 miles, the car developed a severe ticking in the cylinder head. I was told it needed a rebuild, but it was under warranty. Great, get a valve job at 80k miles, car should be better. WRONG Without speculating the cause ( although I feel I know ), the following happened in order: Cam belt changed Cyl head develops ticking sound Cyl head rebuilt Head installed on motor, valves in all cyl hit pistons, bending valves, 2 of which dropped out of head Head rebuilt again Motor removed, short block ordered Rebuilt head installed on rebuilt engine Cyl head ticking Parts replaced in head Car finished Total time in shop was 103 days, no cost to me except for aggravation. Upon return, engine felt different. Gas mileage was down about 6 mpg. Brought car back to be checked, mechanic stated car would need 10k miles to break in. My research shows 500 to 1000 max. I think the mechanic wanted nothing to do with my car. I stated to the service people that I was unhappy with the outcome and the car and planned on dumping it. The next week I traded it in on a new Hyundai from a dealer in North Hampton, getting less for the car than I had spent in maintenance costs the previous year. Based on my service experience, I would never deal with Gary Rome Kia again, and based on extremely long delays in getting parts, would never buy a Kia again either. read more

If I could rate less than 1 star I would. This dealership was the absolute worst. I waited for my vehicle to come in for over a month and the day that I was supposed to pick it up they completely went back on everything they had implied would be taken care of. They are beyond greedy. Their breakdown offers something listed at the "Gary Rome discount," it is typed as "-$6000"... anyone who has completed 1st grade would know a minus sign in front would indicate a DISCOUNT of the amount. But nope! Not here, Gary Rome's computers aren't capable of producing a "+" sign I was told.... Makes sense, right? This is the 4th time I have had my car at Gary Kia of Enfield's service department in the last year. The recent issue I was told, that the car needed a new oil pump. It was going to cost me three thousand to replace it. After another 2 months the same thing happened. I brought the car back agian they said it was the new oil pump, it was bad. They replaced it again After a month the same thing happened so I brought it back they had the car for a whole month and couldn't figure out what was wrong, they finally told me "the hose going to the oil pump was clogged up and charged me five hundred dollars for putting on the diagnostics machine again, after another month I brought the car back it was un driveable. now they are saying its the fuel pump and it will cost another 3 thousand dollars I don't think they know what they are doing!! I am taking it some where else and will never deal with them again. they do not stand behind there work!! read more

We drove two hours to check out a car at this dealer that we had found online. I initially called and Ashley was polite, and offered to check the availability of the vehicle without me even asking. This is not the first dealership I had spoken to, and she was more helpful and accommodating than others. She made an apt for us for a test drive. We worked with D'Angelo in sales and Mike in finance. Both of them treated us and worked with us as if we were buying a luxury vehicle rather than a preowned family car. They were awesome and did all they could to get us the best deal without us even having to ask. Best car buying experience I have ever had. Absolutely horrid customer service from Gary Rome Kia's service department. I won't be taking my 2012 Optima back to them, or doing business with them in the future. In September, I brought the car in for an oil change, and I brought synthetic oil for them to use. The service advisor, Mr. Borovicka, said this wouldn't be a problem. When the work was done, I got home to find I still had a full case of oil in the back seat, and a charge for Citgo semi-synthetic oil on my bill. And the next day, I found a small puddle of oil under the car in my garage. I wrote to the service manager, Al Fontaine, to give Gary Rome Kia the opportunity to make this right. He said "I am also going to credit you back for the charge you incurred while here on this visit. I am also going to put a note in the system that you next service is going to free I will take care of that for you with the mobil one." With Mr. Fontaine aware that I'd be in Thursday evening, I made the 45-minute trek back to Gary Rome. Mr. Fontaine was nowhere to be found, and Mr. Borovicka wasn't expecting me. He didn't seem to be aware there was a problem. He didn't change the oil. His service tech wiped up the oil they spilled on the car's underbody shield when they did the previous change. He didn't offer me a free service; instead, he offered me a discount coupon. And I have yet to see any refund for the botched oil change as promised, either. Work not done as requested, work done in a slipshod manner, promises made but not fulfilled, lack of communication to the detriment of the customer... ...and then two letters in the mail on the same day, begging for an "outstanding" rating on any follow-up survey. "Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. WE WILL NOT BE HAPPY UNTIL YOU ARE!" says the letter Mr. Borovicka signed. Unfortunately, Gary Rome's actions don't reflect that sentiment. read more

I visited Gary Rome Kia this past weekend to check out a fully loaded used Kia Optima. While it was a beautiful car, I didn't need all the bells and whistles. Because I had done a little homework before visiting them, I knew they had exactly what I wanted in a new Optima and it was priced several thousand dollars below MSRP. David Jordan was very helpful and patient as I worked out which color and options I wanted. He was very attentive and hospitable, not pushy at all. When it was time to talk financing, a different Dave (I don't recall his last name) listened as I explained what I needed and ran through all the options, explaining clearly each option. New vehicles come with 8 free oil changes and they also wash your car. If you are looking for a new or used Kia I highly recommend you contact them. read more

Wouldn't recommend anyone for this place. My wife had brought our car there for service several times. After the 4th oil change they told her our car had a bad oil leak. They told her it was a bad leak and that it needed repair right away. She was told it would be $1600 for the repair. She wouldn't do the repair and waited for me. I looked at the car couldn't find any leak. We brought our car to another dealer and found out the the car had no leak at all. Went there to look at a used Kia Soul for my son. Asked to take it to my mechanic to which they agreed. Told them since we weren't sure we were buying that I didn't want to get a hard hit on my credit report. Said, not a problem, would just look at credit report until we were ready to buy. Went to the store before we drove the car to be checked. Received an email from Credit Karma 5 minutes after leaving...3 hard hits to my credit report. Took the car to my mechanic who said that the tires were in such bad shape he couldn't believe they let us drive it off the lot. Broken seat belt but not much else. Offered $800 off the asking price and were rushed out of the dealer. Told we were too far apart. 3 hits on my credit report for 2 years. What sleazy people. read more

After discussing what I was looking for in a car and financially, they took the minimum basic info. I begged them not to hard hit credit bureaus, but guess what, salesman lied and they did, I believe they did after l left dealership! Bought my car there a year and a half ago. During this time went back because of multiple problems with breaks, tranny, and engine. 2011 Kia Rio with 65 k miles should not have all these problems. Now engine problems are stopping me from passing emissions and registration in 1/2017 isn't happening. Can't drive it and still have to make car payments!! the worst place ever. ordered an extra key and door remote for my 2016 rio. was charged and told I was paying for it to be programmed to the car. charged me 188 for remote 24 for programming and 88 for the key laser cut by factory. took 1 month to get the remote for they lost all paperwork on this. back and forth three times and when I got the remote and wanted to schedule an appointment the girl told me that she has to credit me back the 24 dollars. I have to go to the service department and pay them. I guess it will now be more than what I already paid for on my receipt which is also a legal binding contract between me and gary rome kia. usually when I get burned the establishment is on there way out anyway. so hopefully the next people who run a business in that location will do so in a less corrupt way . read more

I just relocated back to New England and was in the market for a SUV after driving a sports car for many years. I visited many dealerships Honda, Nissan etc.. after ending up at Kia of Enfield. Julio Rivera helped me pick out the perfect SUV that fit all my needs while still sticking to my monthly budget. He is not your normal pushy sales person. He is super friendly and listens to exactly what your looking for. He worked with my budget which was super important to me and he even helped me sync my new bluetooth and went over every feature that my new Sorrento had to offer. Julio called me two days after I bought the car to follow up with any questions I might have and to see how I like the car. What a great sales team they have over at Kia Enfield.
