I explained I booked a noon appointment and indicated I would be waiting so I didn't have time to wait an extra hour sitting here. Very frustrating to drive to an appointment that they had no intention of keeping. Two things need to change: 1.) don't allow noon appointments if techs take lunch at noon. 2.) review your scheduled appointments every night and morning and call your customers to reschedule if your not able to keep your appointments. I'm a new customer and tried to keep an open mind and come back and do the service at 1pm. But there was no apologies, discount offered or anything to acknowledge this error. Just $145 for an oil change charged. The waiting room was nice and clean. Update to owners response: There was no attempt to reach out before hand. You should audit your records closer if the team told you that. I have no missed calls emails or texts asking to reschedule before I arrived. The only text I had was a confirmation for the noon time. Don't be defensive just take feedback as a gift for improvement.

We make a Costco run, and then my battery light goes on. I call my mechanic in Chicago who tells me to get to a service station immediately. I call two places without any availability, and when I call Dykstra they said they would do their best to help. And did they ever! They got my car in right away and diagnosed the problem (my alternator). Their waiting room was peaceful, clean and quiet. We were even able to store the Costco perishables in their refrigerator! What could have been a horrific start to my birthday weekend (aka, dead car on the expressway in 90 degree heat) ended beautifully. I am so thankful for this experience!

They got the car "fixed" quickly which was great. However they claimed it was something loose with my parking break. I barely drove it down the road and noticed nothing was different. So I took it somewhere else and got it sorted. When they called they mentioned that the problem could be something else but that it wasn't. I took their advice. They didn't even bother to drive it around to check their work. So disappointed.

Experience here was fine overall. Needed brakes and a starter…read more Service seemed timely enough. I want to say they told me they'd look at the car Tuesday, but didn't look at it until the end of Wednesday. It's possible I'm confused on that point, since I called some other mechanics first. Once they got the car in, they did the work right away. The woman working the customer side of things was knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Working with her made everything easy to manage. Complaints: - They for some reason "had to use a Denso" starter, which added a large amount to the final cost, and of course was marked up after that. Not sure why they needed to use a Denso, or why a remanufactured part cost more than twice the new parts at rockauto. - Bigger complaint: Looks like they used a remanufactured part, and no one asked or mentioned. So not only did I pay too much for a starter, but I thought I'd at least be getting a new one. - They replaced the air filter without asking and without naming it in the quote I was given over the phone. So another 20 bucks for something I could have ordered off Amazon and put in myself in 30 second. At least the filter was only about 4 bucks more through them than Amazon is charging during COVID, but it's about twice what I paid last time. It's really the principle of the thing. It's possible this stuff was just communication issues. I don't know why they "had to use a Denso", for instance, but also didn't ask about it. Because I had dropped the car off to get checked out, it's possible the air filter was something that should have been mentioned, but due to the nature of phone calls, it just slipped through the cracks as the woman was looking at the quote, and when I gave the go-ahead, the mechanics just did what I supposedly approved over the phone. So look, I have some concerns and some questions, but overall I'm guessing the work was done well. Using a remanufactured Denso means they probably made sure to use the "right" part even if it wasn't the cheapest. And the price (make sure you go on their website and print coupons first, and mention them before you make payment) and service are leaps and bounds better than what the local Toyota dealer offers. Besides, if they do a better job than most mechanics, it's worth paying a bit more to make sure it's done right. I'll probably come back here for the next thing that comes up, and hopefully next time there won't be any surprises or questions.

The big attraction I saw was the ability to save on gas when we travel as it seems we come across more Sam's Clubs than Costco when traveling. (One of our cars uses premium which is often $.40-75/gallon less than local stations. At that rate, it wouldn't take long to break even. So we joined and toured the store. To put it in hotel terms, Sam's is a Day's Inn and Costco is a Marriott or Hyatt. Just my opinion-the store doesn't seem clean. Merchandise is piled haphazardly, the meats looked horrible and while many of the brand name foods appeared fine, (i.e. Heinz Ketchup) I could not imagine buying anything more than gas or some type of hard goods (i.e. furnace filters) at Sam's. I enjoy all the samples at Costco and have actually had lunch on samples. Again, nothing where there was open food seems appealing or clean. We did buy a couple items and here is where the nightmare began. Once you pay, there are two aisles to exit. They fill up quickly. Like Costco, Sam's checks receipts but they go one step further by randomly scanning items in your cart. It took us nine minutes to exit the store after paying as the scanning device either wasn't working properly or they found a problem with customers in front of us. No way to get out! Unless I really see the gas advantage, this will become a cheap, one year experiment.

The workers are normally friendly and helpful- but just like a lot of places- they seem short staffed. Have patience with the checkout lane- unless you have the free app that takes a job away from a potential cashier and lets you ring up your own stuff for no discount.
