Our group of 7 went here on a Monday night. We made a reservation a couple days in advanced and received the secret entry code a day before. Overall: It was a really cool experience. Live jazz music was a plus. Food was really good, especially for the portions of it. At the end we couldn't even get desserts since everyone was stuffed but happy. Best dish of night would be the Black Truffle Risotto. We would definitely come back just to get this dish alone. It could have been a 5 stars experience if one of our servers didn't seem to rush things to clear up the tables. Got asked a couple of times if dish was done tho the person who ordered that was in the restroom.. and was asked to pass the utensils to her in not a very nice tone.. Our main server however was very nice and helpful.
I had the most beautiful experience at Gaslamp! From the overall atmosphere to the staff to the incredible food-everyone needs to go to the spot!! each dish that we ordered was better than the next! The food was prepared to absolute perfection. The cocktails were also exquisite. We experienced some great entertainment that included a saxophone player and a fire dancer. For such an intimate space, they really made an impact with the experience. I am counting down the days until I can return!
Stopped in for a late nite catch up with some friends and decided to check this speakeasy out. Discreet and all the way in the back of the Kailua Pub? It's exclusively tucked away. Many varieties of speciality drinks available. Had the bone marrow, Brussel Sprouts with live music. Will be back to try more drinks and food. Waiter was very attentive to details and efficient!
Absolutely blown away. This place was recommended to my partner and I by multiple people so we put in the reservation. Upon arrival, we were asked for a password (which he could not find in his emails hot fortunately they gave us grace lol) then let in. The place was simply lit and each table had a literal gas lamp lighting the space. On the second floor there was a man playing the sax. It was SO gorgeous, Our waitress was great, we were easily influenced by all her suggestions and ended up getting a great meal. We started with drinks. My partner didn't hear her say that the bottom of the menu was "spirit forward" and ordered a VERY strong drink. It actually made for a very giggly and eventful dinner so it was a very happy mistake lol. I got the espresso martini. It was a little creamier than I expected but still tasted really good! I'd order again. Our first appetizer was the Wagyu carpaccio- topped with cilantro (the menu said dill but I saw/ tasted none), fried capers, and caviar. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, basically a meat salad. A beautiful start to our meal. Our second (yes, second) appetizer was the escargot and bone marrow. This was our personal star of the show. A complete 180 to the carpaccio. This was rich, heavy, and decadent. The tomato added a nice balance of acidity to counteract the fatty bone marrow. The escargot was cooked perfectly, no chew but soft and buttery. One of the best bites of my life. The salad it came with was just we needed with it. After this, there was quite a wait until our main entree. A fire dancer came, and danced on the bar counter. I'd say we waited a good 20 minutes until it came out. But we were only impatient because we had plans after dinner. Our main course, which we shared, was the King Arthur- beef Wellington with a side of crab legs. The crab did come out during our appetizers which I appreciated. I only ordered this because I never had beef Wellington before and really wanted to try it LOL, my partner said it was better than the one at hella kitchen! The waitress also talked us into ordering a side of Mac and cheese, and thank GOD she did. It came out piping hot and saucy. There was a slight note of truffle, but it wasn't overpowering, and a nice crust of cheese and breadcrumbs on top. Everything was delicious and generously portioned. You definitely get a bang for your buck. It's a hefty buck but it's so worth it.
My experience here started rough but it really did get better through the night, and the food was the saving grace. The bad: we received our "pass phrase" to get in for our reservation, but when we arrived at the telephone door they just asked for our name...defeating the point of a speakeasy experience. Then the waitress had us stand in a very crammed and busy walkway in the pub for 10/15 minutes only to tell us they had no tables available and that we have to sit at the bar (the barstools had no backs and were uncomfortable). It was very loud and small in the actual restaurant, and as they bussed all the other tables dirty plates they were staging them right in front of us at the bar? Not really what I want to look at all night if I'm paying over 130+ per person. Fortunately someone was a no show and they moved us to a table. I recommend stating you want a table when making reservations. The food: our food came out really fast and most of it was top tier and delicious in every way possible! Although, I did not care for the crab and artichoke dip. The crab was shredded and could easily be replicated with canned crab. If it were lump crab/chunky and bigger pieces of artichoke it would be way better in my opinion. The charred octopus was good but one tentacle was very rubbery while the other was soft and cooked well, I wouldn't get this again. The Yacht: hands down the best seafood tower I have ever tried. The seafood was bursting with flavor and most surprisingly it was grilled. The meat was still warm but placed on top of a bed of ice. The variety of lobsters, crab, shrimp, and the oysters were phenomenal. The mignonette and melted butter were perfect. Dutch Veal Chop: possibly the best piece of meat I've eaten in a very long time! The veal charred to perfection and the meat was so tender. The flavors were on point. Desserts: we tried the creme brûlée and butter cake. Again, I think this is my favorite crème brûlée! The flavor, texture and toppings were perfect. The butter cake was warm and melt in your mouth. Gaslamp is very expensive. If you come here knowing it's tucked in the back of a very crammed dive bar, and the actual restaurant it self is tavern-like and you probably can't see half the food you're eating you'll be fine lol. Oh yes, there was also a fire dancer on top of the bar in the middle of our meal, which was pretty cool!
The best ambiance. Speak easy in Kailua. The food and staff is amazing and truly make it feel like a tasty fine dining experience. Great for a date night and special occasion
Came here for my anniversary and chose this place for the ambiance and given it was a speakeasy restaurant it would be a fun/different experience. We started our night off with the scallop appetizer which came out perfect and the flavors blended well with the scallop with some pieces of mushroom as well. For the main course, I ordered the ribeye and lobster with truffle fries, the ribeye came out with the perfect temperature (medium rare) but it was over seasoned, too salty, and it tasted really burnt. Overall, I could only eat 3 pieces of the steak. My husband ordered the French laundry which was really good (as we hoped since it was ~$200), the steak was super tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned. We ended our night with dessert, the crème brûlée was delicious and well made and very thoughtful for the staff to add "happy anniversary". The service here was phenomenal, our server was super attentive and the hostesses were also super friendly.
I've eaten at places with $200 plates of steak and Michelin star locations when I was in the mainland, and have often been disappointed. Being in the food industry for many years I believe good food doesn't have to cost that much, and I'd leave most fancy places hungry cause they give you small portions (I'm 6'6. A big dude who loves to eat). While this place is on the pricier end for my taste, I do think it's completely worth it. We ended up here for our anniversary and I think this spot is great for special occasions. It's an intimate atmosphere with live jazz music, the bartender Clark was very knowledgeable about drink recipes, the food was delicious, and the service was amazing. This place was an experience. Not just getting served expensive food. We probably spent $400 that night for 2 people, but thats what you would spend at a nice steak house anyways. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't already.
We had a great time here. The ambiance was dark and moody with live music in the background. Our server was wonderful. I had the old fashion which was good. One was enough! lol. The caviar service was delicious and the Dover sole might have been the best fish I've ever had. Usually when the place is heavy on the esthetics, the food is lacking but not this place. We even enjoyed a little bar show in the middle of dinner. Great experience!
Ooohhh WOW! I think this is my favorite fancy birthday dinner so far. I am a huge fan of Mastro's on the mainland: elegant atmosphere, attentive service, live music, Flintstone-size steaks, and their sinful butter cake. Gaslamp brings that to the Windward side. French Laundry did not disappoint - it was a feast for the eyes and stomach. Watching our swinging tomahawk arrive, the beef fat drip into the mashed potatoes, to the plating, made for one very happy birthday girl. And when it came time for desserts, the last mentioned item was BUTTER CAKE. Happy birthday indeed.
Rounding up from a 4.5 because overall the food and the service and the ambiance were all incredible. We had a reservation for a fairly large party (this is a TINY space!) booked well in advance, and the staff were so helpful at communicating the policies and planning the evening to accommodate our group. Everyone LOVED the experience. The presentations were all great, the food was incredible. As one member of our party said "I love how much fire this place uses!" Torched roasted garlic, smoked old fashioned, even a fire dancer! The only thing we ordered that felt subpar was the creme brulee... it was fairly loose and lacking the signature "tappable" layer on top. The tiramisu, on the other hand, was praised as one of the best they've had. It is pricey, but it is also easy to split quite a few of the entrees as they are quite a large quantity of food and definitely worth it for the atmosphere and experience overall. Highly recommend going with friends and sharing a handful of sides, apps, etc, to be able to try more!
I'm the type of person who needs a nice meal from time to time. To me, nice means authentic kindness within service and food that's excellent as a standard. A dim room. Maybe some cool drinks. You know the vibe. Went solo and sat at the bar. Bone marrow appetizer - pretty darn good. Best parts were the mushrooms and escargot on top. Wild how you get literally just enough bread. PLENTY of actual bone marrow, which is really rich. Very indulgent. 4/5 Steak & Lobster - requested medium, got medium well. Really cool presentation, though my sweet server was supposed to be charring my garlic and ended up setting the rosemary on fire - lol. Brought the steak out again, it was perfect. Lobster was INCREDIBLE. Super sweet and tender. Would have appreciated a fresh serving, but I understand food costs. 4/5 Forgot the name of my drink, but it got lit on fire as well. Very cool. It came in a metal skull, lol. Not much to it taste wise. 3.5/5 Service was interesting - mostly really sweet folks. Would come again with friends. All in,
This was such a fun night out with the girls! If you've never visited a speakeasy for dinner, definitely give this spot a try. The staff were all kind and knowledgeable of the menu. To start, we had the baked crab and artichoke dip (this was perfect for the three of us!) and then I had the black truffle risotto and added on the lobster tail. I loved the risotto as it was creamy and not al dente. The lobster tail was a great addition to the meal and made it feel celebratory. I'd highly recommend coming here!
If you want to experience fun dining, this is the place. You have to make reservations. They text you a secret password 2 days before your reservations. You walk all the way to the back of the restaurant and give the password before they let you in. The place is very small. A bar and 3 dinner tables. Cocktails were definitely good. I had the Mother Mayhem. My son and I shared the Tomahawk steak. They burn butter on the hanging steak and the bottom is the mashed potatoes catching the drippings. Lobster risotto was delicious. The lilikoi cheesecake was also delicious. Why 1 star less? For the price of our meals, I expect the food to be hot not cold. All of our dishes came to our table cold. I am happy with the experience the restaurant provided. But this one is a one and done for me. Servers were great though. Very nice and very attentive. read more

Small portion but more than enough after another two drinks and the appetizers. Worth a try if you're visiting. If you're a local it be a great special occasion outing. read more

Gaslamp is really the vibe. From the telephone booth-esqe entrance to the impeccable service and live jazz, Gaslamp was a fabulous experience in the dimmest lighting ever. This is great because mask-ne was an issue and most everybody looks better in the dark. For the love of everything, don't use flash. First, your pictures will look awful and secondly, all patrons will be annoyed. The hole in the wall seats about 6 parties, with 2 at the bar. The attire is dress to impress with more stringent guidelines for the men. We walked through a regular pub full of people not dressed to impress so that felt strange, but we were totally with the right crowd as soon as we made it through the entrance. Resy, the reservation app, is as hard to use as anything, but that is how I discovered Gaslamp. The several text message reminders from the restaurant were great as nobody in my party had bothered read my text messages about dress code and cancellation policy ($30 per no show, and $30 cover charge if not eating/drinking). A speakeasy is supposed to showcase the drinks but what really stood out was the delectable food. I got the Steak Diane and demolished it; I was nervous because my previous experience with Steak Diane at Cheesecake Factory was not to my liking. I also made it halfway through the crab entree but got too full. My dinner partners loved their lobster risotto and scallop risotto. The icing on the cake was the live music that comes on at around 730pm (Sunday). As we were told music was only Thursday through Saturday we really lucked out. Overall, an amazing spot. Was interested in coming here because they have live jazz music. We ended up finally going last night to celebrate our engagement. The service was exceptional. Everyone was really nice and attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. We ordered the bruschetta and truffle fries for ours apps. And the fries were so good and had the right crispness to it. For our main dishes we got the lobster risotto and a lobster carbonara pasta special. For our drinks we got Mother Mayhem and The Girl With the Lock. My partner enjoyed Mother Mayhem and Girl with the Lock was a little too heavy on the whiskey for my taste. Even though we were so full we still got dessert. We got their lilikoi cheesecake with ice cream. Chefs kiss was on point! We would honestly come back here again because overall it was Amazing! read more
Our friends found this place by accident, and it's the happiest accidental find I can remember! This also meant that we went in without knowing what to expect at all. We met our friends in the pub which revealed nothing about what we would find inside the speakeasy. Soon after arriving, the hostess approached us and asked whether we were there for Gaslamp (the dress code made us easy to spot amongst the other pub patrons) We were seated in the darkly lit room, lighted by...gas lamps! The menus were ready for us on the table and we were promptly given cocktail recommendations. I can't remember the name of the one I ordered but you can see the picture below. There was a half lime with flaming alcohol to sink into the juice in the skull. It was delicious, and wonderfully theatrical in presentation. For appetisers, I definitely recommend the bruschetta with prosciutto, and the filet carpaccio served with caviar. Our friends ordered the French Laundry steak ($190), and the table service of it was impressive, the waitress expertly flaming butter over the hanging steak, with the drippings falling into the mashed potatoes below. We ordered the King Arthur which came in two parts; snow crab claws and beef Wellington, which cut like butter. Will definitely be back for the next special occasion we have. read more
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Located inside of Kailua Town Pub & Grill, parking shouldn't be a problem. It's a shared lot with the other businesses here. Go inside the pub, straight to the back, and the speakeasy awaits. Ambiance is intimate and romantic. Dimly lit and decor that lives up to the fact that it's a speakeasy. The walls are lined with old books (I'm a sucker for that) and the vintage chandeliers are gorgeous. And the kicker? There is a second floor with a solo musician pumping out the best jams on his sax and flute. On the night we went, he knew his audience. We were all groovin' and singing along to the classic love songs. Hats off. The service is flawless. Our server was so very attentive without being overbearing at all. He genuinely wanted to help explain everything we had questions about, and was knowledgeable about both the food and drinks. His sincerity and impeccable service are of note. I wish I remembered his name. Now what you came for: the food and drinks. Epic. We ordered the one trick pony (twice) because it was a solid drink. The smokey effect was pretty cool, yes, but also the presentation and taste were equally wow. I ordered the Side Ewok and asked if it could be made with less alcohol content, and the bartender sure delivered! I can't stop raving about how aesthetically beautiful this cocktail was, bright, punchy flavors, and just the right amount of alcohol so I could enjoy it without getting crazy. For the food, we ordered the King Arthur, which came with snow crab claws soaked in garlic butter sauce and their famous Beef Wellington. HOLY SMOKES. The sauce the crab was drenched in was probably one of the best garlic butter concoctions I've ever had in my life. In hindsight, we should have kept the leftover sauce to dip everything else in, or I probably should've bathed in it, but now I know for next time. The Beef Wellington was cooked a perfect medium--the pastry was crispy and flakey, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I kept the sauce on the side (rather than poured all over) and dip-dipped. The mushroom duxelles that encased the beef was also a perfect 10/10. My husband ordered the Crab Crusted Opakapaka and this dish was also amazing. The sauce you pour all over this was also divine. We wished we had more of it. We also ordered the garlic truffle fries and panko crusted mac & cheese as accompaniments, and again, delicious. For dessert, we ordered the lilikoi cheesecake and we crushed that, too. It was such a nice balance of creaminess from the cheesecake, tartness from the lilikoi and fresh berries, and crunch from the crushed oreos (I think), and the cold sweetness fro the salted caramel ice cream were all the perfect symphony and ending to our romantic evening. Verdict: Expensive but absolutely, positively worth every penny. read more

The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was over the top, very comparable to the nice restaurants on the Vegas strip. The waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable, quick service and he even gave us a recommended drink. What also made it special was the vibe of the restaurant. It's tucked in behind a busy bar and then you get this quiet, dark, & mysteriously looking environment that really makes it feel like you found a secret special restaurant. read more

Best meal ever! We went for our 25th anniversary, and enjoyed every part of our Gaslamp experience. The bone marrow escargot is as ridiculous as it sounds. I had Steak Diane. He had steak and lobster. Caviar bumps, and oysters to start. Jerome on Sax! Cant wait to go back, even though we live on Maui. read more

Best F'n food I've ever eaten! Surprised my husband for his birthday & he couldn't have been happier. I thoroughly enjoyed it myself too. Wait staff was more than helpful and accommodating during our reservation. Made great recommendations on drinks as well. Atmosphere was very intimate and unique. I did feel the party next to us get up because we were technically sharing a bench but who cares when you eat this good. Only wish we could've experienced some live music as this was a reason I selected the location for my husband's surprise. Still amazing! I will rant to anyone about this restaurant experience. Cute tiny speakeasy tucked away in the back of a pub. The food came out quickly and it was delicious, the drinks were STRONG, the live music was pleasant, the vibes were unique, and the waiters/waitresses were attentive and made our first experience here one to remember! We will definitely be coming back for our anniversary because this was unlike any restaurant we have been to before. This is a special event type of venue due to the cost $$$. read more

Very intimate environment, dim lighting (light by gas lamp), food was sooo delicious, and service was good (thumbs up emoji). I made an online reservation and noted that my fiancé will be celebrating our anniversary so I was expecting a complimentary dessert, which never came...and only the hostess told us Happy Anniversary unlike other restaurants where all the employees know about your celebration and greet you. Had an amazing experience for my birthday dinner at Gaslamp! We made reservations beforehand, and the day of received a text with the dress code and the secret password. We arrived at Kailua Town Pub & Grill and made our way back to the "telephone booth" where we gave the password and were granted entry. I was pleasantly surprised that the space was a lot smaller than I envisioned. It's pretty dark in there and the tables are lit by the eponymous gaslamps. Even though we went on the later side, we were lucky enough to catch the live jazz from up on the balcony. I got the "All Dressed Up" cocktail, which consisted of pineapple, gin and about 3 other things that I didn't know what they were, but it was good! Our choices for appetizers were the charcuterie board for 2 and oysters. I especially liked the brie with bruleed sugar on top. We decided to splurge and get the wagyu tomahawk. It was so worth it; the meat was buttery and even the mashed potatoes it comes with were amazing! The only small thing was we ordered the steak medium rare, but it came out pretty solidly rare by my standards. The wait staff are all friendly and checked in on us often. At the end of the meal, we got complimentary shots of some alcohol (couldn't hear what it was lol) from one of the staff. It had notes of raisins and spices--very Christmasy! There's something about the combination of good food and the cozy atmosphere that just made me fall in love. The prices are steep, but you pay for the experience. I'll definitely be back! read more

Gas lamp is located right in Kailua pub and bar, it's a hidden tucked away spot, you'll need a secret password to enter. Upon walking in you see a dark library like with a bar and up top is more books and a spot for a musician with live music. The food was AMAZING, the service was great, it was a little dim in there but the food and drinks were special. 10/10 would recommend! Not pictured was the lobster carbonara (white sauce pasta noodles) Also not pictured, a lobster risotto, and the star of the show has got to be the mushroom risotto, that was the absolute winner. What a really cool and intimate spot!! You would never think that this gem exists in the back of a pub. Small place with only 5 tables and 4 bar stools but has an awesome vibe especially on nights where the sax player is performing on the balcony. Reservations are not easy to come by during prime time so book early. The staff is extremely friendly especially the bartenders. Spent a lot of time talking to them since we sat at the bar. As a professional cocktail drinker, one of my favorite part of the evening were the cocktails and the fact they can make you some amazing drinks based on your preferences. The food is good, not great. I expected better especially for the price . Our favorite meal, believe it or not, was the garlic truffle fries. OMG they were insanely delicious with that aioli. GET THE FRIES!!! We also had the French Laundry, a tomahawk ribeye sliced table side. It was decent, I think we enjoyed the presentation more than the steak itself. A very pricey presentation. The lobster crostini was very nice and the scallops did not disappoint. We were too full to even think of dessert so we passed on that. Will definitely go back! read more

Gaslamp is quite a special place! I've loved everything I've ever ordered here. Best for parties of 2-4 for a celebratory or romantic date. Unique and beautiful drinks that taste amazing, great appetizers and dessert. Not my favorite steak on-island (didn't order but tried my husband's French laundry and daughter's filet) esp for the price but truly enjoyed all other items. Servers have been excellent in my opinion and that always adds to the experience. Some receptions have been perfect, others just ok. If you're looking to impress your guest, this a good choice, especially outside of Waikiki. read more

After using the password "please give us a 5 star review on Yelp", I stumbled into the tiny lounge, knocked over a gas lamp, and set myself on fire. That was not intended. I just could not see where I was going. But once I sat down at my booth with my girlfriend, and read over the menu, I decided that we should have our date here after all. The cocktails are otherworldly and had levels of flavor that expanded and lingered on my tongue in ways that no other drink has before. Nothing came close. It was especially the case with one gin-based drink that I cannot recall, but it was the best cocktail I've ever had. The main course (variations of crab and steak) was intoxicating and extremely rich. Once again, it was an experience of flavors that was pushing me near Nirvana-like levels. I didn't know food could taste this good. The cocktail and dinner made me forget about the second degree burns I sustained earlier. Just kidding. I made that part up. After the main course, we had a birthday dessert of crème brûlée for my girlfriend, because, well, it was her birthday and that's what you do. The crème brûlée was very very good. The crack through the surface was exactly as it should have been. Couldn't have been a better dinner or birthday dinner. The staff was great and very accommodating. We've been wanting to try one of these speakeasy places and thought it'd be a neat way to celebrate my birthday this year. Making reservations through their website was easy. It was fun to arrive and give the hostess the secret password that they text to you the day of your reservation. You enter through the phone booth at the back of the bar and are immediately transported to a sexy jazzy "lounge". The space is intimate, but classy. I enjoyed the live saxaphone player who walked around the joint playing at every table. The food was uh-mazing! We ordered the scallops to start, and the surf & turf and lobster risotto for dinner (no tomahawk steak this time around), maybe next time. Definitely try one of their signature cocktails, or ask the bartender to make you something special. Don't forget to sign the guest book! Amazing experience and totally unexpected (the good kind). First, it's another hidden gem in Kailua. Haven't heard of it till my gf suggested we go here. Went with some girlfriends and our reservation was at 4pm on a Saturday and everything that was served was sooo delicious! We tried a lot of things, scallops, charcuterie, oysters, lobster risotto, mac n cheese, truffle fries, tomahawk, steak diane and more! My favorite was the scallops (melt in your mouth ) and tomahawk (must try). I highly recommend trying their panko crusted mac n cheese, the best mac n cheese I ever tasted for sure! Thankfully my sis and a friend told me about this place. It's a hidden gem. If you want a new and fresh experience, I highly recommend you make reservations for Gaslamp. Sam and I have experienced several fine dining, but this one is superb. I enjoyed the creativity of the presentation, the warm, welcoming conversations from the staff (thank you Clark, Merit, and Nico), and the vibe of the place is that of exclusivity. Pros: - the attention to detail (not gonna disclose it since it's best you experience it for yourself - the staff is very friendly and communicative. They really make sure you enjoy your time. - the food exploded in my mouth with my so many flavors - the atmosphere feels like it could be a speakeasy. It's very loungy. - the creative presentation of the food and the education we got about the liquor. Cons - it's a small venue - we missed the live entertainment cuz we went to Babyface's concert. Incredible hidden speakeasy located in the Kailua Bar and grill. Highly recommend that you come here for a special occasion meal. We made a reservation at gaslamp to celebrate our anniversary and a birthday. There is not a whole ton of parking since the restaurant shares a small parking area with a small shopping center. To get to the restaurant you walk through a very casual bar and grill to a door in the back. The restaurant is very tiny space with only about 8 tables. There was a saxophonist playing music and it was an epic vibe. The food was absolutely delicious. They have a tomahawk steak special which we wish we got. The ambiance was excellent. Very quaint. Very romantic. We were celebrating our wedding anniversay. Perfect location however we felt mislead by our waiter.The restaurant is upscale so prices are high and expected however when the bill arrived we were surprised. I was ordering side items for my meal which ranged $12 to 15 dollars. The waiter offered an alternative option as a side, rissoto, which I agreed. I did not realize that he would charge me for a main item meal instead of a side of rissoto $63. This happened with another item as well. So instead of paying for two meals we paid for four. Came for a wedding anniversary and was truly blown away. Extremely quiet, cozy place with only 4 parties seated at a time. Beautiful live jazz music. We went in fully expecting the high price tag for food&drink, but were still impressed with the quality of flavors and presentation. Highly recommend doing "dealer's choice" on cocktails and having a conversation with the bartender to curate something fantastic. Thus place was great . From the start when you go thru there secret entrance, the nice warm low light by lamp, to the great staff. It hard to say what was better the food or there special twist on drinks, or the live music. Great place for that special date with that special person. read more
Highly recommended. This speakeasy is hidden inside a bar through telephone booth doors. You'll need a reservation to be there. The atmosphere is 10/10. There's also live music. The guy plays different instruments that matches the mood of the restaurant. The restaurant is dark and is lit by gaslamps hence the name Gaslamp. I was not too impressed by the cocktails but the food here is amazing minus the Brussel sprouts. I've never had beef Wellington before but the Wellington practically melted in your mouth. I love that this speak easy is behind a busy bar. When you arrive give them the secret password and you will get in to be seated. Can maybe fit 16 people total. There was a saxophone player and we felt like we were getting our very own romantic concert, so cute! The food was VERY GOOD. I did think it was a tad over priced for the size and quality of the sides. My husband and I shared the porter house for 2. It is sold as MP, pricey but ended up being wortH it! Melt in our mouth with that roasted garlic! *chefs kiss* We started with some fun drinks that were not so fun and I would not recommend the mezcal with guava and I don't remember the other tiki drink. Wow!Wow!Wow! Im so thankful my aunty, mom, and dad met Matt and learned about this place. Matt has such great customer service and personality he adds to the experience. Now when you search through the yelp reviews you will notice the prices are on the higher side, which is very true and worth it. Not to many places have the quality and ambiance which this place gives. First off, what a fun prohibition vibe. You walk into a bar all dressed up and give your "code" to the hostess who then opens the phone booth doors to a cozy restaurant. The dark room gives a romantic feel, the book cases, black leather, and musician up above adds character. We enjoyed the ambience for some time that we took awhile to get it together on drinks. Fun and original cocktails to choose from or do a "dealers choice," the mixologist makes your drink based on some of your likes. He made great drinks based off of a request of whiskey and refreshing, and my strawberry with no lime request. Great start to our experience. The appetizers did not disappoint at all, stinky goat and the meat and cheese (medium size) was perfect for our table of 7. We also had the truffle fries for appetizers as well and they were amazing. Steak and risotto was the choices we each zeroed in one. Our table enjoyed lobster risotto which is served with a lobster in it. Porter house for 2 was killer (filet, t-bone, and New York cuts) perfectly cooked medium rare and juicy. Seasoning was just right with the added sides or truffle fries and mushroom and onions. The filet was also perfection. At the end of our meal we indulged with a New York cheese cake, mango cheesecake, and a chocolate moose. We really enjoyed this experience and would love to become regulars here despite a "far" drive for us. Rideshare is a good and safe choice for those who enjoy cocktails and wine. It's not good for kids because it is very dark and it's a bar. There are just a few tables and a few seat at the bar

Do you have to be 21 to enter?
No. You pass through the pub for entry but any age can be in the restaurant. My daughter is 12 and loved it. (Still, it is small and upscale & pricey so you may not want to.)
