EXPENSIVE. Definitely "AN OLDER CROWD". The Crowd Ages were over 40s-80's last Saturday, & lined up at 5:45pm. FANTASTIC. The over 80s peeps in my group didn't like the loud music, & myself, age close to 60, found it also way too loud. It is really not necessary. It actually makes the band sound worse. If you DO NOT LIKE to pay COVER CHARGE, even if you are 1st @ the door, it's $35 each. Capacity is 400-600, so 400 × 35 is 14000. The bands aren't getting paid that, nor are they worth it. Some songs were good, many were off key. I was 1 of a party of 75 which included dinner: boiled tiny chicken breast with drizzled pesto sauce, roast beef which looked like a petite steak, vegetables, pasta, mashed potatoes. I wasn't too impressed knowing it probably cost as much as Fine Dining down the street would cost. So not worth it, bring pizzas for your parties! My Hosts paid for 75 cover charges, (yeah, I know). I don't drink so I can't tell you how much that is. For my age bracket, this would be a cool place to hang if it wasn't so high in decibels. I was extremely shocked that the age bracket starts at 40s, not 20s or 30s, as you'd think. A BIG mix of 50-70s plus with everyone smiling, dancing, and having a good time. This place REALLY SHOULD CONSIDER Sunday Reggae, but not with white dudes dressed up like Bob Marley, but true GOOD AUTHENTIC Reggae Bands that maybe played in the 80s-2000s who are looking for new gigs? I'd do that! This place reminded me of being at The Hop in Lakewood in my 20s dancing with people 40 plus. This place is kind of set up like that was. read more

Gaslamp took over Taco Surf-meets-Tijuana volleyball bar LIVE BAIT, which was my favorite bar in California. I was hooked. I don't frequent Gaslamp, but it's the best music venue in Long Beach (outside bar Alex's and DiPiazza's, which plays more hardcore, far less "radio-friendly" kids and geezers). The schedule, which includes Sunday brunch and line dancing nights, plays almost entirely like an OC Fair stage, full of tribute and cover bands. It makes me want to get off my butt and start my all-male Go-Go's tribute band: the Bro-Bro's. read more

You know, I tried to give them an opportunity to correct the issue but, it just doesn't seem like they want to. First I spoke to Jennifer who for some reason fell off the face of the earth then, spoke to someone named Carly who stated she would take care of the situation however just like Jennifer, did not. We have been going to them for months now post pandemic, hoping to get back into getting out and enjoying some social events but when they charge your credit card incorrectly and do nothing about it, that just really puts a damper on the whole evening. To top it off, when you bring it to their attention, they do nothing about it except lead you on. This has been going on since January 2021. They were supposed to give us a credit, that never happened. Then they offered us a free meal for a future event, they never returned the message or scheduled an event, I followed up with another email and Carly stated she would take care of it but now we are looking at the middle of June and still, nothing has been taken care of. I'm all about supporting businesses but only the ones that actually perform up to the expectations that we want them to as well as take care of their customers. So I warn you, buyer beware!! You don't know what you're going to be charged and you don't know who's gonna take care of it after the night is over with. Recently my husband & I went to Gaslamp to attend a Tribute Band concert on a Sat. night. I had called a week prior to see if I could reserve a table. Unfortunately they were all booked. I mentioned that I had recently had knee surgery and wouldn't be able to stand the whole time. The kind lady said that they have ADA seating, but only I would be able to sit there (not my husband). She also said that she'd put us on the wait list for a table (where my husband could sit with me), and mentioned that they sometimes have no-shows on the day of the event. We arrived about an hour prior to the event. They had plenty of parking available in their lot. There was a bouncer at the door and a hostess who verified that we had tickets to the show. When I walked in, there was another Hostess at the front, and I asked if I could sit in the ADA section. She mentioned that I could, but my husband wouldn't be able to (which I already knew going in). All of a sudden out of no where, a guy shows up at the front and said that my husband could sit with me in the ADA section. Come to find out that his name is Michael and he is the Manager. He said he saw my request on the list for a regular table, but since they were booked, he escorted me and my husband to the ADA section. He pulled out 2 chairs for us and said that he would have a server come around to take our drink and food order. I was completely blown away by Michael's kindness! Yes I know he's the Manager, but not all Managers are as hospitable as he was. Also, he didn't have to allow my husband to sit with me, because apparently that's not normally allowed, but he did! The seats were spectacular but most importantly, I was able to sit down and enjoy the show, with my husband right next to me. (I'm using a cane right now to help me walk, so there's no way I would've been able to stand the entire time). Since we had already eaten prior to the show, we just ordered a couple glasses of wine, and the pours were very generous! At the end of the night, I went to give Michael a monetary tip to thank him for everything, and he refused it. He said he is the Manager and it was his pleasure to accommodate us. Perhaps I was not expecting much going into this place, but I left completely happy and impressed with Michael, the show, the venue and the entire experience. The restaurant is nicely laid out with plenty of tables and a dance floor, bar and stage area. It was spacious enough and never felt cramped. Everyone seemed to be having a great time! This review is based solely on many Monday nights (usually the 4th Monday of each month) when the Tom Kubis Big Band performs. We have been attending since the band moved here from its old Orange County venue. They do have very ample parking in a lighted lot. While not used on the Monday nights, there is a good sized outdoor seating area. The house sound system is very good, the Kubis Band usually has their own sound man. They do provide a special menu for our Mondays but you can order from the regular menu too. The servers are always friendly and do a great job, though on occasion they seem a bit short staffed and service seems to have slowed just a bit as those on duty pick up the slack. I have had several items, short ribs, a big,wonderful cheeseburger, a lettuce wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon and I do not recall exactly what else. For a number of visits now I have had the seared ahi salad. Ample portion, the ahi seared on the outside while nice and pink on the inside. Avocado, cilantro, lettuce and a nice light dressing with a hint of ginger. My wife's latest order was the chicken bowl, a dish she thoroughly enjoyed. Drink prices are not to bad, the alcohol content on mixed drinks seems a bit light. Reservations are accepted. If you are going on a Monday to hear jazz, use Open Table for your reservation. Restrooms are clean and stocked, at least the men's is, I have not ventured to the ladies room. read more

Sad. I have come here for years and I have never been treated so rudely. I emailed and called to make a table reservation. It was my anniversary and I wanted to make sure we had a table. We paid the entry fee and when we went to check on they said they never got my Voice mail or email. I did both incase they didn't get one. When I showed up there was no table or reservation and they made no accommodation even after I showed them the email. They totally embarrassed me I front of my wife. They didn't care and offered me a table outside. WHAT!! I am there to see a show. Then when we ordered dinner she ordered a salad entre and clearly requested a dressing choice and was given the wrong dressing. I did not realize this till after. First time here. We came for ABBA cover band concert. It was eh, ok. Is it my old ears? Is it because I am not in my twenties anymore? Or is it that the sound system here is closer to terrible than awesome? I felt my hearing taken away from me. The speakers were blaring out NOISE. I can barely hear the band sing. They couldn't have been that bad, I thought to myself. Anyway, I hope that they take the sound more seriously. There is nothing worse than coming for a mini concert and sadly hearing such awful loud noise instead of songs and music. Please consider testing the sound before every performance. First time at the Gaslamp to see the Oingo Boingo tribute band, Dead Man's Party. Sadly, probably our last time as well. We got our tickets and made reservations for dinner by calling in so we could be guaranteed a table. The table we were seated at is definitely not the place to watch the show from. We were way off to the side of the stage but I think they expect you to get up and head to the dance floor for the show. (The chairs were very uncomfortable. Basically padded folding chairs like you might see at a wedding ceremony.) We started our meal with the Spinach Artichoke Dip. It was tasty. The chips were fresh and the dip was spinach heavy but we really like it. (I did add salt.) I had the Filet Mignon Skewers and my husband had the Pesto Chicken Breast. The filet was delicious. I asked for medium temperature and this was more medium well (no pink) but very tender and the Worchester sauce was good. The mashed potatoes were well seasoned and the vegetables still had a little crispness, which I like. The chicken breast was definitely a little on the dry side but the pesto sauce was nice. We finished dinner with the Chocolate Layer Cake which is moist and rich but would really use something creamy to offset that richness (scoop of ice cream or whipped cream, a few raspberries, something to break up the chocolate). It also had what tasted like Hershey's chocolate syrup drizzled over it which it didn't need. Beyond the food, the real disappointment was the sound system. For a performance venue, the sound was awful. When the lead singer spoke on the mic, we couldn't understand a word he said and the whole system went out THREE TIMES while they were performing. We love the band but only stayed for about and hour and a half of the music because my husband was annoyed with the sound quality. I suppose if we had been drinking, maybe we wouldn't have noticed. Because of the sound, we will likely not be back. We will find other venues to see our favorite acts. read more

Friendly attentive staff. The burgers are stacked so tall we wondered how we were going to eat them. The flavor was good. I wish I could have finished it. We sat outside at a table without an umbrella. Don't make that mistake. The sun gets very warm on the blacktop, and you need the shade. The band was your average covered band. read more

I am highly pleased with my experience here at Gaslamp. Host, waiters, waitresses all practice covid 19 measures. They even have dividers in place between tables. There's ample space, and still feels intimate. Service is promp and kind. Bottomless mimosas on Sunday brunch--- food was amazing. I had the Brunch Burger, was tasty you get meat patty, egg, bacon, cheese and hollandaise sauce--- delicious oh and taters cooked crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. So yummy. The chelaquiles are also fire, ordering that next visit. All in all it was a beautiful visit. Love the atmosphere, the decor and there was a live band playing to cherry the experience. I was out Thursday country and Friday 80's music and enjoy the night out. You pay cover charge for Thursday $5 and Friday $15 (a way too much) and drinks are price for the cocktails that I had. I've been here a number of times over the years. Seen some MMA and a few bands. Usually we've gone for dinner and then seen the band or the fight. We have NEVER been charged a cover for the event when we had a table and spent money on dinner and drinks. Probably 8 times over the past 5 years. So tonight I made a reservation for 3 people for dinner and was gonna stay and check out the bands but the guy at the door told me I had to pay a cover charge of $25 bucks even though we had a reservation. I said I wasn't going to do that - went out to the car, called, and the receptionist said that was true. Bait and switch? New policy? Regardless, that's uncool. I won't be coming back if that policy is in place - I guess you don't want my $100 + dinner money. I'll go listen to Cover bands for free elsewhere. read more

This place has gone way downhill. We were there Saturday and had a horrific experience. The venue was way overbooked - so crowded you could barely move, and nowhere to stand without being constantly jostled and elbowed. Add to that that it was way understaffed. It was extremely difficult to order before the bands even started, it seemed impossible as the night went on. And as the night went out, the crowd got aggravated and unruly (again, with no one from the staff to get things under control). Some drunk spilled a drink all over my wife's new dress; there was shoving, and more than once it seemed a fight was on the verge of breaking out. I came with my teens and family thinking they had a single guitar singer but turned out to be a full band rockin away. I couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying. So today we brought 40+ people to the Gaslamp for brunch and a birthday party. From the getgo I realized very quickly after I observed only one server working our entire section that we were in trouble as far as quality service. Not her fault as she was doing the best she could under the circumstances. After 30 minutes of not even getting asked what we would like to drink, my wife and I moved to the bar the get better service. I'm not a restaurant manager but after observing for several minutes they were clearly understaffed. A few people in our party come to me at the bar inquiring if the service was any better at the bar. I said it was and a few of them ordered brunch from the bar staff. 20-25 minutes later I see there orders sitting on the bar and there was clearly no wait staff to deliver their food. I take it upon myself to deliver there food to their table. While delivering one plate I spill the ketchup container down my shirt, pants, and shoes. 100% my fault. I leave my wife there, go home to Huntington Beach to change clothes and return. Am I pissed? Of course. If the Gaslamp would have done their job correctly, I would not had to get involved. I speak to the manager, (Macey) when I return and tell her what happened. She agreed they were short staffed. I tell her, "I have a small bar tab, please do the right thing". She replies "Okay". When I go to cash out I realize she did nothing. I call her over and ask her to look at my tab and confirm it is correct. I'm really not asking for much, I mean buy me and my wife a drink for godsakes! Nothing. Perhaps you should not sit at the bar drinking (see pic) in front of customers and learn how to treat people! It's all about Friday 80's night with Knight Ryder an awesome band. Crowd is always and I mean ALWAYS jumping. I've been there a few Friday nights and always leave screaming "this was the best night ever!" The DJ is also on point in between sets playing a great mix of music to keep you dancing. Went for no doubt sublime tribute band and was a great time. Went Friday for another 80's cover band and stood til closing. Good vibes and great service will be back this weekend.
